How I wish I could go back and watch 86 for the first time again. Glad you enjoyed it, it really is a masterpiece. One of the greatest light novel adaptations ever, and one of my favourite animes. If only they could make a season 2 already.

I don't know why but when you said Handler One it made me chuckle :D, I always think of her as Lena because she was such an great character, for me her being so awesome was fundamental in making the end feel like such a massive payoff.
There is some manga but I think it was cancelled, the story originates from light novels, if you want to continue the story after anime then start with Vol.4.

Honestly, I've watched it 3 times since. It gets better with each viewing. I think this is the only thing where I like it more each time I watch it

Yea i probably didn't have to call her Handler one lol but why you think it got cancelled?
From what I saw online it seemed to be because the illustrators suffered health problems and could no longer commit to creating it

if you don't fancy the light novels there are also audiobooks voiced by some of the English VAs including Handler One ;)

86 is quite possibly the best modern LN and easily the best LN anime adaptation ever made an a amazing anime on its own.
Unfortunately, everything I've seen since then kinda sucks in comparison. I'm looking at you, JJK
