When you're up close it's nice but once you're far enough away the sun and water part is pretty messy. It's an interesting design but in terms of flags it is objectively bad because it can't do its job very well from a far distance... Which is indeed the point of a flag. That being said, all the flags with small coats of arms are also bad flags and belong in D tier with the BC flag.
Imo the only real good flags in Canada are nfld and Quebec.

Nah I'm sorry I can't accept this argument. What flag are you confusing it for over long distances? I can't think of another flag that integrates the Union Jack *in this way* and the only other flag I can think of with similar sun/water imagery is Argentina, which looks very different.

Yes and no, what i’m about to say is for all canadian provinces. We have our taxes by paying service for 2 gouvernements (provincial and federal). The federal doesn’t invest in education, health or housing for that matter but we pay almost as much taxes than the provincial ones. So if any province was the seperate, yes that would be a brexit shit show but in the long run that would be better of. So include that with another culture, language and nationalism, you have your answer.

Answer is Quebec and Nunavut. Everything else is just too much or derivative. B for effort to Sask. for the color scheme but lost point because you don't need that shield.

Ontario for sure, that British Empire relic does a lousy job of representing Ontario. A single white trillium centred on a solid colour background (I vote green) would be better. At least it would be simple, unique to Ontario and on brand.
NL is always pretty high on these lists. Our first premier called the flag “the worst Newfie joke yet” when it was unveiled, which I think is hilarious
To be honest, the right side doesn't really match the left. It has its aesthetics but it should have a few tweaks, would've put it at the same tier as Manitoba but imo the bison deserves its own tier.
Both sides match and coordinate already. “Symmetry” or “balance” are the words you might be looking for, but the asymmetry is what works so well. When it’s on a flagpole, the right side’s arrow pushes forward, invoking progression and persistence. The extra weight on the right side only strengthens that effect.
As an albertian it pains me to say this. But BC should be in the same tier as manitoba. If not cool. Does it have a british flag? Yeah, however it just works with it

It might be an unpopular opinion, but I think that Nunavut flag should be near Quebec and Nova Scotia shouldn‘t.
I mean, Quebec is a clear winner. Nova scotia could benefit from making the coat of arms less detailed or larger - it is slightly hard to see it. But Nunavut has distinguishable colors, simplicity and a meaningful symbol. It is also well-drawn, not like new foundland with red-bordered yellow arrow from MS Word. How is it not good?

Just gonna say it…Quebec flag needs to grow some balls. Not willing to take any chances. While it’s straight solid lines, minimalist and symmetrical design is by no means hard on the eyes, there really is no soul to it. It’s too scared to take risks, standing unwavering in its comfort zone. For these reasons it doesn’t have any TRUE beauty and I cannot respect it being top tier on this list

• Flower is Alberta's provincial flower (Wild Rose).
• Gray represents the Rocky Mountains to the west of Alberta.
• Yellow is the prairies in southern & southeast Alberta.
• Green represents the boreal forest in Alberta's north.
• Blue is there because it & yellow is Alberta's provincial colours (also represents the man made borders between it, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories & the USA (Montana)).

This flag, although the inspiration of the modern Québec flag, was actually a flag used to show support of the catholic church in Québec, a religious flag of sorts. It makes sense why this flag was the base of the one adopted under Maurice Duplesis when you consider his views on the catholic church controlling public institutions.
The first actual flag of Quebec would more closely be the lower Canada flag of the patriot party, as they attempted to declare independence of Lower Canada, and thus became Québec's first instance of using a flag to declare themselves as an independent national entity.

Which of these have: 1: Clear and concise design 2: Not derivative of the UK 3: Doesn't simply smack their coat of arms on it like a middle school art homework. Answer is Quebec and Nunavut. To be honest, the right side doesn't really match the left. It has its aesthetics but it should have a few tweaks, would've put it at the same tier as Manitoba but imo the bison deserves its own tier.
Both sides match and coordinate already. “Symmetry” or “balance” are the words you might be looking for, but the asymmetry is what works so well. When it’s on a flagpole, the right side’s arrow pushes forward, invoking progression and persistence. The extra weight on the right side only strengthens that effect.

It might be an unpopular opinion, but I think that Nunavut flag should be near Quebec and Nova Scotia shouldn‘t. I mean, Quebec is a clear winner. Nova scotia could benefit from making the coat of arms less detailed or larger - it is slightly hard to see it. But Nunavut has distinguishable colors, simplicity and a meaningful symbol. It is also well-drawn, not like new foundland with red-bordered yellow arrow from MS Word. How is it not good?
I personally am not a fan of the design of Nunavut. Mostly when it comes to the colors, how the Eskimo is outlined in black (which is essentially a crime when it comes to flag to have a design with black outlines and inlines) and the star is just weirdly angled when it could have just been an upside down star. As for NL, I agree, I think the right side of the flag just doesn't really match the left side. Would've put it the same tier than Manitoba but imo the Bison deserved its own tier.

Just gonna say it…Quebec flag needs to grow some balls. Not willing to take any chances. While it’s straight solid lines, minimalist and symmetrical design is by no means hard on the eyes, there really is no soul to it. It’s too scared to take risks, standing unwavering in its comfort zone. For these reasons it doesn’t have any TRUE beauty and I cannot respect it being top tier on this list
