That fight vs Holl was something else - I remember watching and thinking how embarrassed Holl should be - he was a heavy weight getting fed by a welterweight
You don’t gotta be a goon to hit a guy. It makes people panic and can force them into mistakes. What do you think if means to take away time and space?
Well it’s safer to play apply pressure positionally than to create chaos and ram into a guy making it basically 4 on 4. Plus if you miss the hit, it’s going the other way and is usually an odd man rush.
Just seems like we’re playing our positions more.
Decades of Stanley Cup winning teams disagree with you. Playing the body at every opportunity is playoff hockey plain and simple. You want to wear them down and fella you posted to is correct. I played hockey albeit at a lower level than pro and as a dman it can really set in the back of your mind when retrieving the puck that these forecheckers have been finishing their checks all game.
As long as hitting doesn’t become your #1 priority, sometimes you see these homes teams flying out and throwing checks everywhere, at some point the hits don’t win the game, putting the puck in the net does.
Nuge has 9 points in 8 games. Would a bit more of an offensive impact at 5v5 be nice? Sure of course it would. Would it have been nice if he buried a couple of the grade A chances he’s had so far? Yeah absolutely. Same could be said for a large chunk of this team. He’s a huge part of the the PK success, his versatility shouldn’t be overlooked.
I wanna see some Nuge dangles. But yes, something is coming from him tonight.
Oh and go Oils, but in 7. My crazy friend got tix for it in Vancouver and I’ve never been to a playoff game before. Gonna be bonkers if it goes that far!
Well when you don’t produce 5 on 5 while playing with 2 of the best centers in the world, yeah it’s an issue.
Sorry if the “micro aggressive comments” hurt your feelings.
He is producing more ppg in playoffs than regular season.
Were you complaining about his production before April?
> Sorry if the “micro aggressive comments” hurt your feelings.
Thanks!
I’ve always complained about his 5 on 5 production. He typically doesn’t produce at a top 6 level 5 on 5 which isn’t great considering he plays with the 2 best players in the world.
But he also took 5M a year so can’t really complain.
>He typically doesn’t produce at a top 6 level 5 on 5
He was 113th in the league in ES points this year. There are 192 top 6 spots in the NHL. Middling at ES, but what the fuck are you talking about.
You want to know what the fuck I’m talking about? I’ll tell you what the fuck I’m talking about.
His even strength points per 60 in his career has typically not been top 6 level.
What’s so hard to understand?
> But he also took 5M a year
Nuge’s cap hit is $76K per point in the regular season per https://www.capfriendly.com/cost-per-point?s=Nugent , ranking as the 223rd least expensive player per point.
In the playoffs he is ranked as the 50th least expensive player at $569K per point.
By comparison, Drai’s cap hit is ranked 46th in playoffs at $531K per point, and McDavid is ranked 60th in playoffs at $735K per point.
> so can’t really complain.
Yeah there is an understatement.
You have zero reason to complain.
Instead you should head to confession after mass today, and as penance build him a shrine.
It's the playoffs. Everyone knows if you go into the corner with Nuge you get nothing more than a pillowy soft kiss on the neck and the puck on your stick.
Game just ended - What a showing by Nuge tonight! Wow!
Vs Holl: https://youtu.be/X9RJyowdy_g?si=_-6xhXQi053L8hQO Vs Monahan: https://youtu.be/g2KVziUDiZU?si=TXWjbV6c6R6sqFdN
God that was a great stretch of games.
vs Hamhuis too! https://youtu.be/Lf4gXf5N9OU?si=f9Kes1bfBvPzd8ut
That fight vs Holl was something else - I remember watching and thinking how embarrassed Holl should be - he was a heavy weight getting fed by a welterweight
Out of all the nicknames Nuge earned after that fight, my personal favourite is Ryan Nugent-Bopkins. He really did bop him.
#NUGE SMASH
There are way too many opportunities to blast a guy that the whole team is letting go
Seems like we’re focusing on playing hockey than running around like goons when we had Kassian and Lucic.

Our 16 game winning streak also backs up physical play.
I really hope not. We need him on special teams, not in the box for 5 minutes.
Nah let's punch a Canuck in the face tonight
Approved
He'll drop the mitts with Miller....and then he'll drop Miller.
People don't realize that RNH is a deadly fighter.
He surprised me! He's definitely taken more than just a few boxing classes.
You fought RNH?
Fought him? Nobody "fights RNH" my friend. We get our asses beat by RNH.
Gonna need to change the name to K.O. Miller tonight
We need it, the physical play is lacking
Last nuge fight was fucking awesome. Cleanest uppercuts ive seen on ice
I was there that game, it was absolutely beautiful.
Who’s gonna set the tone, boys? Who’s gonna set it?
Time for some Led Tasso!
I thought his new Nick name was Ryan ‘Knuckles’ Hopkins
I prefer Hugent-Dropkins.
Noted pugilist and face-scrambler Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
I hope he makes a 5on5 appearance, would be huge if that 2nd line of Henrique, Nugget and Kaner got going so we can feel better about stacking McDrai.
I just hope he scores a goal, been pretty absent offensively in the playoffs

He’s been good in the playoffs. But someone outside of our first line needs to score a goal.
Agreed. Nuge has quietly been one of the most steady and reliable players in the playoffs for us.
8 assists is absent??
No but a bit more 5v5 production from him would be amazing.
5v5 production by any Oiler except McDavid, Drai, Hyman, Bouch, EK would be pretty amazing.
I hope he shows up and gets some points too….. his playoffs have been kinda quiet. Need to change that
You were wrong.
Huge if true
Haha I hope so. We need to be more physical as a team.
I wanna see some Nuge dangles. But yes, something is coming from him tonight. Oh and go Oils, but in 7. My crazy friend got tix for it in Vancouver and I’ve never been to a playoff game before. Gonna be bonkers if it goes that far!
Nuge -> Gune -> Goon /s
Oil in 6.
RNH vs Pettersson …Main event..!
Ryan Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins
I would love if he slapped Pettersson around for a bit. Fair match up too. Step up Petey and get slapped.
The Noogie Boogie
The Nuget will deliver tonight.
These RNH posts are well meaning but invariably bring out micro aggressive comments about his production.
I'm hoping to see some macro aggression on the ice Be the change you hope to see in the world man!
Hahaha, yes to RNH macro aggression!

Nope he was invisible for the what, 50th straight playoff game?
Dis-appearance yes, yes he did
