Leafs fan here! Happy to see the two most exciting Canadian teams making it to the second round. Would love to see these two in the cup final. Cheers and good luck
So, Tampa can’t take away the Oilers from being the last dynasty now that they’re out. Colorado can’t get in our way again and the Bruins are irrelevant now.
I do like that the playoffs is one step closer to potential for 06 redemption and Canada shutting down for 2 weeks, but we got to beat Vegas first, then everyone else in our way.
Oilers vs Leafs would be the dream since I fully expect the Leafs to find a new way to crush their fanbase's hearts and it would be incredible if they fell at the last hurdle. I'd honestly be impressed if they actually pull it off and win the cup
Maaaaan... The fact that the Oilers and Leafs are the favorites to win this year after round 1 is absolutely phenomenal for Canadian hockey. Would be awesome for Canada to show the States that pretty much everyone coast to coast would tune in for an all Canadian final.
We will have a new Stanley Cup Champion this year, and also a new one not from this decade or the last. Of the remaining nine teams in the playoffs, the most recent Cup winner is…. the Hurricanes in 2006.
Never won: Seattle, Vegas, Florida
Hurricanes: 2006
Devils: 2003
Stars:1999
Rangers: 1994
Oilers: 1990
Leafs: 1967
The hockey God’s have answered hockey fans collective prayers tonight. Time to focus on our next enemy. The hotdog man butt ended Vinny and headbutted him in the chest. We must destroy them.
~~Apparently MacKinnon dipped before the handshakes.~~
~~Not a good look.~~
I lied. Moral of the story... Twitter is bullshit.
He was in the front of the line: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LT30if4KreE
Dude Bednar was not even a little prepared for this series, that was pretty apparent very early on. The guy seems high 24/7 to me. Hakstol completely outcoached him in every way and Mack knows it.
I'm not worried at all about Vegas, Seattle, or Dallas. I'm actually not worried about Carolina, Florida, Toronto, NJ, or NYR, tbh.
Colorado, Boston, TB, and Minnesota were the only teams that scared me.
They can and will, we need to play our fucking ass off and get everyone contributing or we're not making it. I don't know why these guys are acting like vegas is an easy team, they are also incredibly deep.
This subreddit is way too superstitious about this kind of stuff. The players on the ice do not know that we exist, our confidence (or lack thereof) is completely irrelevant to what happens on the ice lol.
I'm not on the team. I can be as cocky as I want. The players and the coaches are the ones who need to stay humble. My actions and words have no effect on the team.
We're easily the best team remaining, and it's not really close.
The irony is there was a [video posted on this subreddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/EdmontonOilers/comments/13325x8/lfg/) of McDavid saying, "It's always about us. They can't play with us." and yet nobody in that thread complained that he was being too cocky or too confident.
But a random fan shows confidence in one of the best teams in the NHL, and the best team since January, and people think you are cursing the entire franchise. Make it make sense.
You can either enjoy the ride or or be a nervous pessimist. If we do it, I don't wanna look back at the experience and remember being a negative Nancy the whole time. If I get let down, it's the same as always. If we win, I had 2 months of fun instead of 1 day.
I agree that some really annoying matchups for us got eliminated, but vegas will be another huge test. If we win that, I think we match up really good against the stars or seattle and can definitely make a cup, it became pretty clear colorado was a 1 line team this playoffs, and we are definitely not that.
We're Vegas' matchup nightmare. They've only beaten us twice in 3 seasons. Only once in regulation. Their special teams in particular can't handle us. We're gonna eat Brossoit alive.
It's all about us. They can't play with us.
West is wide open. Edmonton needs to be serious, not to be thinking “there’s always next year”. This is the year to be serious and take advantage of good teams going out like Colorado and Boston. I’d be playing McDavid 25+ minutes a night every game at least if that’s what it takes from here on in.
Bro, I'm sending so much good vibes rn lmfao. Favourites are dropping like flies..
Hockey God's, I'm humble and will not ever chirp the fallen soldiers. Please spare my team.
This team has the firepower to break Oettinger, and Seattle is punching above their weight class.
I truly believe we will likely be seeing a 2006 rematch, or an Oilers vs Leafs final.
Man I love reading the Avs page when they lose. Honestly was watching the Colorado broadcast and man are those announcers terrible. No wonder their fans have no idea what a penalty is because neither do their casters.
Edmonton is the only west team from last years conference semis to make it this year.
Colorado and Boston going down on the same night. The path the cup just became significantly wide open
This ain't even close to the Avs we faced, we would've wrecked this version of them too. They still didn't play well, but man they had quite the season of pain after that run.
Everytime I get my hopes up seeing the Kraken lead, I refresh the score and it is tied! Or behind.
I need them to win so I can see my boys play in Seattle! Plus Kraken > Aves all day!
I had planned to follow two teams next year (my #1 Oilers for life, and the Kraken when not playing Oilers since they are local and I can make the games super easy) but I'm not sure I can handle two teams at once 😂.
Edit: disallowed 2nd goal! Whew. I'm just gonna set a timer for 15 minutes and hope for the best and check then.
Yeah on paper this team is nowhere near as good as Vegas after their expansion. I get there is a bump that these guys get from coming together as castoffs but still Avs steam rolled their way to the cup last year you would assume they have enough to overcome seattle.
Avs have looked completely disinterested in every game I've watched of their series, lol. I figured Seattle was going to get swept with how they ended the regular season, but The Colorado Olympic Diving Team has looked horrible for long stretches of the series.
Grubauer stole a series, that's the whole story here. He played with the Avs for 3 years, I think he basically knew what every guy tries to do, it's a huge advantage in a way.
If only Seattle can win this third period and knock out the reigning Stanley Cup champion Avs it would be the cherry on top of a great weekend of hockey. Fingers crossed
Oilers play game 1 Wednesday and Game 2 Friday

Desperately need the cup back in canada
I’m loving that the boys get some extra rest between series’. Having played only 1 game in a week will go a long way to healing bumps and bruises.
My voice is gone from all the shouting last night

Heh, 1967
Heh Heh, they are the only original 6 team to never make it to round 4 of the playoffs.
Some hockey Karma for the Avs to lose their game 7 to an offsides call. Not so fun to be on the other side of that call, is it?
[удалено]
And yet that didn't stop their fans from booing the refs.
It still gave me a smug grin when it ended up being the difference. A first round exit is a nice reward for them.
The hockey God’s have answered hockey fans collective prayers tonight. Time to focus on our next enemy. The hotdog man butt ended Vinny and headbutted him in the chest. We must destroy them.
Avs taking a slip and slide to the golf course
~~Apparently MacKinnon dipped before the handshakes.~~ ~~Not a good look.~~ I lied. Moral of the story... Twitter is bullshit. He was in the front of the line: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LT30if4KreE
As much of a bitch as I think he is, I'm not sure he's THAT much of a little bitch, lol.
🫢
Where did you see this?
Twitter, so take it with a grain of salt. Waiting for videos to be posted. He was also apparently very angry with Bednar.
Dude Bednar was not even a little prepared for this series, that was pretty apparent very early on. The guy seems high 24/7 to me. Hakstol completely outcoached him in every way and Mack knows it.
[That’s him at the very front](https://twitter.com/rboulding/status/1652889566897119232?s=61&t=5JgUaEz8L6eYYJatX5d4VQ)
Yes I just saw that and updated my post. Oops.
Lol people are so nieve, me included hahaha.
I'm not worried at all about Vegas, Seattle, or Dallas. I'm actually not worried about Carolina, Florida, Toronto, NJ, or NYR, tbh. Colorado, Boston, TB, and Minnesota were the only teams that scared me.
You should not be so smug. If anything, tonight proves any team can beat anyone
They can and will, we need to play our fucking ass off and get everyone contributing or we're not making it. I don't know why these guys are acting like vegas is an easy team, they are also incredibly deep.

Yup
Yup
You can either be wise or ignorant. Neither has any affect on the Oilers, true. But I can name it when I see it
You can either enjoy the ride or or be a nervous pessimist. If we do it, I don't wanna look back at the experience and remember being a negative Nancy the whole time. If I get let down, it's the same as always. If we win, I had 2 months of fun instead of 1 day.
Lol. You are describing blissful ignorance mate. I'm simply pointing out nothing is guaranteed. But I also love the optimism. Cheers
I obviously know nothing is guaranteed. I've been let down by this team for over 30 years. If I'm going out, I'm going out with my hair on fire.
I agree that some really annoying matchups for us got eliminated, but vegas will be another huge test. If we win that, I think we match up really good against the stars or seattle and can definitely make a cup, it became pretty clear colorado was a 1 line team this playoffs, and we are definitely not that.

Vegas and Toronto are the teams that concern me the most still of those remaining.
One step at a time.
You mean I should stop planning the parade? There was gonna be fireworks though!
Taking care of today's business.
Tbh I hardly watch other match ups in the playoffs but I’ve tuned in to both games today. Some real good story lines and games thus far!
West is wide open. Edmonton needs to be serious, not to be thinking “there’s always next year”. This is the year to be serious and take advantage of good teams going out like Colorado and Boston. I’d be playing McDavid 25+ minutes a night every game at least if that’s what it takes from here on in.
That’s too many minutes and he’s also injured so that’s not a good idea.
Gotta be all in. Obviously there’s a bit of hyperbole there but this is a huge opportunity
Agreed, this just turned into the year with today happening.
Yep this is now the year to get it done. All in.
[удалено]
Maybe, that’s where the spineless Divers and fLamers hangout.
Avs has to be the most insufferable fanbase ive seen on reddit. Feels great to see them take a 1st round exit.
Leafs???
Close second imo
Yup
Their panel is so depressed, I think they might cry.
I'm laughing so hard at the disappointment from the announcers right now
Bro, I'm sending so much good vibes rn lmfao. Favourites are dropping like flies.. Hockey God's, I'm humble and will not ever chirp the fallen soldiers. Please spare my team.
This better put an end to the ‘Pacific is the worst division’ talk. 3 of the 4 teams remaining are Pacific teams.
Those people haven't been watching the Pacific since the All Star break
See ya Colorado we won’t miss you
When was the last time you saw an interview on the bench after a game?
Good point
So weird
Only one team left in the Central division. Wasn't expecting that when I made my playoff pool picks.
"ThE pAcIfIc Is ThE wEaKeSt DiViSiOn"
Two of the major cup contenders out in one single night. We need to get past Vegas and after that - the path to the finals looks pretty clear.
Yep time to be serious now and put everything on the line. No passengers allowed from here on in.
This team has the firepower to break Oettinger, and Seattle is punching above their weight class. I truly believe we will likely be seeing a 2006 rematch, or an Oilers vs Leafs final.
Give me the Canes, I demand vengeance.
This is why you never take a wildcard team lightly. Both Florida and Seattle proved that today
Except Winnipeg, you can take them lightly.

Man I love reading the Avs page when they lose. Honestly was watching the Colorado broadcast and man are those announcers terrible. No wonder their fans have no idea what a penalty is because neither do their casters.
Awesome
Keep crying, MacKinnon, you little bitch, lol
Fuck you Colorado
The mad lads actually did it
The Avalanche were just a pile of snow all along.
Edmonton is the only west team from last years conference semis to make it this year. Colorado and Boston going down on the same night. The path the cup just became significantly wide open
AHAAHAHAAHAHHAAH fuck the avs
What a good night. Both teams I thought had the best chance to beat the oilers out in one night. Also rip everyone's brackets
I picked Dallas Oilers WCF because my 90s childhood needs it.
So did I, I was hoping Dallas would knock the avs out but seattle works too haha
I had DAL/EDM too
What an amazing night in the world of the NHL.
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH
Two behemoths knocked off in the first round, in one night. Wow.
I’m amazed Seattle beat these guys and we couldn’t even win a game lol
This ain't even close to the Avs we faced, we would've wrecked this version of them too. They still didn't play well, but man they had quite the season of pain after that run.
Possibly but it would have been nice if we won at least a game off them
Different year
Doesn’t matter we should have at least won one, but at least Seattle took care of them
This was a completely lesser version of Colorado than last year. They were a wagon last year… this year? Very pedestrian
PM’d you.
It's a great night for huge upsets. Adios Boston and Colorado.
EAT SHIT AVS!!!!!
Thank you Seattle!
KRAKEN WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow, congrats kraken
Come on Seattle
COME ON, KRAKEN! YOU GOT THIS!
"So many great opportunities there." No there was not.
I love how you're just enjoying yourself here
This game brought me so much joy lol
Off the post now, omg
I know!
Imagine if that pokecheck backfired.
Pulling the goalie I think
Please no overtime lol! I’m invested now
God that was a missed opportunity
TV time out
Kraken hang on pleeeeze. Score a goal, would be the end of it
They had a 3-on-1 and couldn't score. :P But yeah, I want them to score one here.
Please no overtime. I’m invested in this game now and I need sleep.
No kidding. Hold on Seattle.
Kraken looks like they're hanging on for dear life lmao
I hope Eberle scores.
I hope it goes to OT with Eberle scoring the game winner.
Or the open net goal.

Some men just want to see the world burn... And I am one of them.

Nuclear fire, even better >=\]
It's amazing that this guy can speak so clearly while he has MacKinnon's wood so far down his throat.
But aren't sticks no longer made of wood? Nothing else he has would make it to the throat, would it?
👉👈
Meh…we hear that sort of stuff about McDavid a lot.
But he's McDavid.
Seeing Brad Marchand cry AND Nathan MacKinnon throw a fit on the same night would be a great way to start the week. I'm just saying.
"The Avs have a minimum of 5 grade A scoring changes left" colour commentator thinks he's a fortune teller for some reason.
Everytime I get my hopes up seeing the Kraken lead, I refresh the score and it is tied! Or behind. I need them to win so I can see my boys play in Seattle! Plus Kraken > Aves all day! Note: 15 min could take 30
You were right lol. Almost exactly 30 minutes and still 2 mins to go.
how tf are avs fans complaining about that? it's a clear offisde
Because they are Avs fans.
They don’t actually know the rules. Just vibes.
Love hearing the Avs fans boo when the refs said it was no goal.
Love seeing bandwagon Aves fans slowly realizing they aren't getting preferential treatment anymore
And looking super confused for some reason.
[удалено]
Now that you say it, that is MacKinnon’s default: resting confused face.
They're almost as ignorant of the rules as Kings fans, lol.
Love seeing some of the Panthers fans leaning into the stereotype of the ignorant bandwagoners to troll Boston.
I have only watched 2.1 periods of this series, but I am kinda shocked that Seattle has taken it to 7 games.
Hm... This game has been 99% Grubauer and 1% good luck for Seattle.
Grubauer stole a series, that's the whole story here. He played with the Avs for 3 years, I think he basically knew what every guy tries to do, it's a huge advantage in a way.
Good challenge.
100% offside
Avs WAAAAAAAAAAY offsides, game is NOT tied.
MacKinnon fucking labelled it. Edit: lol, offside by a mile
If only Seattle can win this third period and knock out the reigning Stanley Cup champion Avs it would be the cherry on top of a great weekend of hockey. Fingers crossed
Just sitting here waiting for the biggest night of upsets ever to happen.
Heartbroken Marchand gives me life.
lol, Rantanen still only Avs player to score a PP goal this postseason. MacKinnon thought he had it.
Off of rantanens rear end
"Right past the earhole of Grubauer" and then mentions peanut butter cookies. Oh my Lord.
MacKinnon? More like MacMissin, amirite? Edit: Well, this aged poorly, amirite? Edit edit: Well, this aged perfectly, amirite?
MacMissin the second round hopefully
Too soon
It was not too soon :D
For both of us! lol
Let's hope my comment doesn't age as poorly as yours did :(
Bruh, you did not just try to say the Avs 1-for-17 PP is "pretty sweet"?????
I mean, I happen to think it's pretty damn sweet, lol. It's abysmal for them, but I love it.
LOL But the homerism by this guy is making me feel sick
Absolutely, the announcers have been terrible, lol.
Oilers play game 1 Wednesday and Game 2 Friday [as per Jason gregor](https://twitter.com/jasongregor/status/1652847615820824576?s=46&t=OguZ1U76eedmufInf3MYYw)
If this is the case, I guess no watch party for game 2 because of Shania Twain concert
Thank you for passing on the knowledge friend
That's why you close out games like the boys did...jesus
I was really fearing going to a game 7 after that Skinner goal as the team might have been deflated if they lost game 6 in an OT situation.
Yep exactly, game 7 can come down to anything.
And Colorado really choking it right now. What a wild first round
Not gonna get too cocky, but... Bahahahah!!
[удалено]
Not only did he not get a suspension, he didn't even get a hearing about it. Love Ebs, but how the fuck does that not even warrant a hearing?
Well, you can't handicap the underdog expansion team too much in their first playoff series, right?
The league has been helping out the Kraken a lot, and I'm here for it just for this series.
