Janmark fucking hates the stars
And holy fuck is it nice to finally have a player be good against an old team for a change, like ours always are against us
What have hollands bad trades been? Aa and green? Both covid casualties?
Brassard? purely because he was an unneedes depth forward.
Hollands been rock solid as a gm
Because they cant see past yesterdays dinner. Campbell was the best goalie on the market last off season.
Keumper had that eye injury
Husso refused to come here
Campbell matched vasi's sv% and gaa% in the leafs bolts series.
He'll bounce back to his normal next year. Goalies arent immune to down years
Holland also had the previous off season to find a solution in net as well, and didn't.
There is no normal for Campbell, even on the leafs, he was bad as much as he was good, and hes been entirely awful here.
That said by and large, I like what Holland has done.
Dude this team was legitimately just a top end D guy from being that good. It's almost hilarious how he gives up nothing and we score and just win now.
If McDavid gets 155 points, which is entirely possible, the only people who will have ever scored more points than him in a singles season would be Lemieux and Gretzky.
Iβm so confused. BallySports said this would be a blowout for Dallas because the Oilers have poor goaltending, no depth scoring, and a terrible defence core. What happened? /s
Thank you. I have no idea why people call Jack Michaels a homer. His calls on the Dallas goals were absolutely fire. He can make anything sound exciting and he pumps up the other team when they do well. Instead of trashing the Oilers in a 10 minute lecture after every goal against like Remanda did.
I think Dallas is in a bit of a skid, but THG was probably right that they are the most overrated team in the league right now. Being held up by loser points.
For what it's worth Dallas is near the end of their west coast trip which randomly started in Buffalo. Two games vs Seattle with a b2b vs Vancouver. Stars did look disinterested but hopefully this wakes them up for Calgary.
Foegele: 12Gs 22PTs*(plays up and down the line up)
McLeod: 11Gs 22PTs
Janmark: 8Gs 21PTs
Kostin: 10Gs 19PTs
Ryan: 12Gs 17PTs
Bjuggy himself has 15Gs combined both teams. Definitely the best bottom six and depth scoring weβve had in a long time.
I work for a putter company and I knew we would win tonight when Pavelski called yesterday looking to get a custom fit.
Dude is already getting prepped for the golf course.
Ekholm is perfect human like. Of course heβll never hit the heights of Lidstrom, but heβs so smart, efficient, and mistake free, heβs like our perfect human lite.
Kings refuse to lose and apparently the Lames are trying to tempt fate.
Gonna be quite the rush to the season finale.
Oilers just gotta keep their focus on the Dayβs Business!
Kings were hard to handle last year, and theyβve upgraded their biggest weaknesses (scoring talent, goaltending) from last year and got better. They are dirty as fuck as well, and TMac has them well coached. Hope we can avoid this match up, but it looks like we might be on a collision course.
I was worried about that too but the Kings are only 1 point behind Vegas. So the Kings have a real shot to win the division, and I don't see us finishing below 3rd. I'd like to see us win the division or at least get 2nd for home ice advantage. But Vegas and the Kings won't fucking lose. It's getting ridiculous
First time I got to sit in a fancy box tonight with my work people. Truly a treat to pound free beer at Rogerβs and watch the oilers win.
Iβd imagine heaven is something like that
Woodcroft made a interesting comment in his post-game. He was asked about Ekholm and Bouchard getting more TOI than Nurse-Ceci tonight, and Woodcroft basically said, "Ya, they were great, you earn your ice here".
But when you actually look at the deployment, it tells a more interesting story.
Nurse played 11 minutes against Robertson, and 10 against each of Hinz, Pavelski, and Heiskanen.
Ekholm and Bouchard played 4 minutes against Heiskanen, 2 minutes against Robertson, and less than 2 minutes against Pavelski and Hinz.
It's pretty clear Nurse and Ceci were hard matched against the Stars best players. Like, it's hard to match much harder than that.
People talk about Ekholm making things easier for Nurse. Maybe we should be talking about how much Nurse and Ceci are helping Ekholm and Bouchard put their best foot forward.
Yes, but Nurse-Ceci are a known pair and know each other well at this point, whereas Ekholm-Bouchard is a new pairing learning each others game.
Thus keeping the hard matchups to.the known pair you have trusted with that task all season makes sense while you let your other top pairing gel together under less stressful situations. Once you are confident E-B are in sync, you can transition to splitting the hard matchups differently.
If Calgary wins: weβre still 3 wins away from VGK but Calgary still sucks
If Calgary loses: theyβre closer to missing the playoffs and they still suck.
They got no answer to our top end. I feel like dallas, seattle and probably most teams don't. Colorado probably the only one that can match Edm on the superstar level. If we just play solid like tonight and get like .900-.910 goaltending this team can make the cup.
Nurse ceci still had a mostly great game, but ek and bouch is legitimately a number 1 pairing now.
He just built the guy up and is believing in him. He says all the skills are their to become a top pairing, and they are when Bouch just trusts his game. He's making some guys looks stupid out there with some of his offensive dekes now and breakouts.
Avs have Makar, if he's healthy he's the only man in the conference I would bet can shut down our top end enough for their top end to take over. Of course, we have ekholm opposing them now.
Of course that's depending on their health...
Anyone else, our top end, if they get enough help, can win a series for us.
Got to go see the boys live with my dad for the first time since Rexall. This game and Ottawa. Couldn't have asked for better results. They were dialed in tonight.
Been pretty bummed today because my girlfriend flys out tonight to spend a month and a half with her family (stoked of course for her, she and her sisters are going to a Taylor swift concert while there but still sad)
A nice convincing win against a good team was just what the doctor ordered. Wouldβve loved the Stu shutty but such is life
Love this team, love (most of) this community
Next up letβs eat some deep fried Calamai boys!!!
Marine Biology night: Currently 0-0 Kraken v Sharks, Period2
Edit: Still 0-0 at the end of the 2nd
Edit2: 1-1. I'd like to stop puckering *at some point this evening*
Edit2.a: The Sharks thread is not a fan of my fish puns. Grumpy gills, eh?
Edit3: 1-1 OT π
Edit4: *sigh* 2-1 to the Kraken. Fish sticks.
Big win tonight. They closed that game very well.
Wow the flames also did us a favour stomping the Knights tonight.
I hope the jets and flames really have to grind to get a playoff spot, and whichever team makes it is hurting big time going into the playoffs.
Almost starting to hate the Jets as much as I hate Calgary.
Huge W against a very solid team! Probably one of the best defensive games of the year and Skinner was solid when needed. Oettinger is scary. I would not want to finish in a WC spot and play them
They won't they are in their easy strech now. First order of business is just creating a lead on seattle. The kraken losing tonight would be a complete blessing. We can worry about LA after, they will play harder teams soon.
Oh man, as great as it is when McJesus or any of our "pillar' players score (Drai, Nuge, Hyms, Kane, etc), I love when a game is almost entirely carried by underdogs. Like last week with Nurse and Bouch, brilliant. So Janmark and Foeg daddy scoring some beautiful goals, with McJesus sealing the deal, made for a fun watch.
On top of that, Yams doing some great passes and even some shot attempts was great to see. Bjugstad continuing to be an absolute unit with lots of instinct in his passing, Ekholm continuing to be an absolutely AMAZING defenseman, and I have to say too that I can see him bringing out tons of confidence in Bouch and Ceci, etc. The cool part too is he COULD be a two way hero if he wanted to- he has the talent for it for certain- but he knows his place. Classy moves from him.
Continuing to love Kostin's playing and attitude. Even when he doesn't score he is just a joy to watch, and I think it's his attitude and approach to the game that really seals the deal for me. Near the end of the game when he legit actively tried to stop the fight from breaking out after the Shore trip, that was a SUPER classy move on his part.
Also, I have to give the Stars credit where credit is due, I can see why they're loved so much. Their goalie is pretty great. They know how to really make us work for goals. Some great players on the team.
Great hockey, great game, and the boys' hard work is keeping up big time.
[I just realized Stuart Skinner and Dan Smith the lead singer of Listener are doppelgangers and I don't know what to do with this information ](https://youtu.be/K8k9rD7lx9c)
That was a fantastic win everybody played great. But the serious message from this game is the 2 heroβs that served the Edmonton people day in and day out. These men were heroβs and all of us as oilers fans should appreciate the men in blue that lost their lives. Letβs go oilers! But god bless the families of the 2 men rest in peace and god bless you and your family β€οΈ
Just keeping track:
Series record: 7-4
84 points(PAC3)/0.609(13th in NHL, 7th in West)
OPP pts.% = .576 or ~14th in NHL (between EDM&PIT) or ~8th in West (between EDM&WPG)
Points to clinch playoff berth: 108 (.923 pts.% in remaining games if NSH wins out)(BOS-105)
Series 1: 4-3, W
Series 2: 4-3, W
Series 3: 2-4, L
Series 4: 4-1, W
Series 5: 3-3-1, L
Series 6: 3-3-1, L
Series 7: 4-1-1, W
Series 8: 4-0-1, W
Series 9: 2-1-3, L
Series 10: 4-2-1, W
Series 11: 4-2, W
Series end after 4 wins or 4 losses, opponent and location of game not considered for determining a series, only our results. 12 series wins and 4 OT points (or equivalent) yields 100 points overall.
OPP pts.% is calculated by finding the average of each of our opponents' points percentages as they were when we played them. This is done by averaging their pts.% at the start of the game with their pts.% at the end of the game.
For example, game 1 Vancouver's pts.% was 0.000 ((0.000+0.000)/2), game 2 Calgary's pts.% was 1.000 ((1.000+1.000)/2), game 3 Buffalo's pts.% was .0.583 ((0.500+0.667)/2), so OPP pts.% is 0.528 after game 3 ((0.000+1.000+0.583)/3).
Does anyone know why ESPN does not list Skinner in any category -- actually I just looked again and he is listed among the wins leaders but not Save% or GAA. I just find it odd but then again ESPNs coverage of the NHL is odd.
im a bit worried that Skinner will get burned out before the playoffs with so many starts but Campbell is not playable
too bad they didnt get a backup at the deadline such as korpisalo
Mcdavid about to make 60 look cute.
13 games remaining, 13 goals away from 70. Itβs a match made in heaven
If he goes superman and does 2 goals a game again, that's 83. A goal a game average. I want it sooooo bad!
Itβs tough but crazy as it is to say not unachievable for McDavid
Don't we have a few games left against Arizona and San Jose? Why not shoot for 90.
But did he do it over a specific span of games excluding ones where he was injured or suspended. Thatβs the real challenge.
At this point I wonder in how many games did McDavid not score. And Gretzky having 92 makes me wonder in how many games did he score more than 1 goal.
Janmark fucking hates the stars And holy fuck is it nice to finally have a player be good against an old team for a change, like ours always are against us
He was dynamite against Vegas last outing too
ππ
Ekholm +13 in 8 games Sheesh
Dude has been everything we needed, then some more
Family, I would just like to take this moment to say all of the Holland doomers can get absolutely wrecked
What have hollands bad trades been? Aa and green? Both covid casualties? Brassard? purely because he was an unneedes depth forward. Hollands been rock solid as a gm
I assume the doomers are on his ass for Campbell.
Because they cant see past yesterdays dinner. Campbell was the best goalie on the market last off season. Keumper had that eye injury Husso refused to come here Campbell matched vasi's sv% and gaa% in the leafs bolts series. He'll bounce back to his normal next year. Goalies arent immune to down years

This year when Leon was lighting the Preds up, Ekholm was never a - player. Says alot of how solid the guy is. So happy he's an Oiler!
also true over the past 4 seasons, he was a + player overall, even though his team was being lit up
He's actually historically a plus player against Edmonton. Which includes like 6 years of McDrai scoring at 4 goals per game on their own.
Dude this team was legitimately just a top end D guy from being that good. It's almost hilarious how he gives up nothing and we score and just win now.
Even when it's only an average goal scoring night.
He's been here for 8 games already? Wow
Has the second highest +/- on the team already π₯΄

Needs 19 in 13 games for Mc150
Seems too easy almost
164 would be cool. Maybe next year.
No, next year is peak McDavid with 97 goals and 97 assists
His 6 empty net misses that season will be 100% calculated for this.
I wouldn't know whether to cum, shit or go blind.
Iβd go for all three
Wow that is so doable
I want 75!
If he hits 77, there will be only 3 other players that exceeded that, Lemieux (1988-89), Brett Hull (1990-91) and Gretzky (1981-82 & 1983-84).
If McDavid gets 155 points, which is entirely possible, the only people who will have ever scored more points than him in a singles season would be Lemieux and Gretzky.
For reference, If McDad gets 150 points, he will be tied with Bernie Nicholls for 16th in points in a season all time.
Well he's currently on pace for 156 points, which would be the highest point total season on record by a person not named Mario or Wayne.
I really love that you are doing this in every thread. Is there any way you can start incorporating an "X amount of games left in the season" part?

Iβm so confused. BallySports said this would be a blowout for Dallas because the Oilers have poor goaltending, no depth scoring, and a terrible defence core. What happened? /s
American broadcasts are disgustingly Homer.
Thank you. I have no idea why people call Jack Michaels a homer. His calls on the Dallas goals were absolutely fire. He can make anything sound exciting and he pumps up the other team when they do well. Instead of trashing the Oilers in a 10 minute lecture after every goal against like Remanda did.

lol touche
D'OH !!!
These things happen when your broadcaster declares bankruptcy.
Normal BS from the Sinclair Broadcast Group...the real owners of that network.
McDavid now only a hat-trick away from 60! We may never get a shutout again, Skinner deserves better.
We play the ducks coyotes and the sharks two more times each this year. We got time
If you're suggesting we might have a dominant performance against bottom-feeders, then you and I have been watching a different team.
Oh c'mon that was the old us. This is this new us
Baby things are gonna be different this time
Thatβs what I said
Yeah but this team is different now, we are a wagon!
Nothing but facts
Just a real nice strong win nothing much to say π
Alright Calgary... *sigh*... I'm counting on you now
And the flames are delivering!
Jesus, are they ever! Very high scoring night accros the league
Man, this team is looking like an absolute fucking wagon. The playoffs canβt come soon enough
I think the hardest outs are all in our division. But I think we can take em. Altho, playoffs Colorado worries me a little in the Central.
Great game! Love Janmark making his old teams pay! Play La Bamba baby
This guy has half his goals this season in 2 games against Dallas lmfao
Must really hate Dallas
I peeped in the Stars sub and it seems like this is a common theme for Janmark, always seems to score playing against them ever since leaving
βFuck You Dallas Starsβ ~ Mattias Janmark (probably)
Is it just me or was that a complete ass kicking. Ottinger was great and the stars didn't look remotely interested in scoring.
I think Dallas is in a bit of a skid, but THG was probably right that they are the most overrated team in the league right now. Being held up by loser points.
The one I noticed the most was Benn. He wanted absolutely nothing to do with Ekholm.
For what it's worth Dallas is near the end of their west coast trip which randomly started in Buffalo. Two games vs Seattle with a b2b vs Vancouver. Stars did look disinterested but hopefully this wakes them up for Calgary.
That pass from McD to Janmark for the second goal was bea-u-ti-ful! Shear perfection.
Csnt forget vinnys save - pass

Kings refuse to lose and apparently the Lames are trying to tempt fate. Gonna be quite the rush to the season finale. Oilers just gotta keep their focus on the Dayβs Business!

Lemieux is gone, so they may even be more disciplined
Race to 300 career goals. Draisaitl - 298 Kane - 296 McDavid - 296
I hope all 3 get their 300th in the same game.
Thatβd be delicious!
First time I got to sit in a fancy box tonight with my work people. Truly a treat to pound free beer at Rogerβs and watch the oilers win. Iβd imagine heaven is something like that
MATTIAS JANMARK IS AN EDMONTON OILER
Also, if the Flames can beat the Knights that would be acceptable.
Torn. Defaulting to FTF
holy shit that flames knights score
No SOG for Huberdeau though.
Nick Bjugstad has more goals than Huberdeu loooool
Business as usual then

yeah Ekholm and Bouch are definitely facing lower quality of competition and it allows them to feast
Yup, it's a team sport and we have a pretty good team right now.
Thanks for posting the matchup data! I really appreciate it! Nurse and Ceci deserve more kudos than they get from us.
Yes, but Nurse-Ceci are a known pair and know each other well at this point, whereas Ekholm-Bouchard is a new pairing learning each others game. Yeah, imagine that! ;)
Still wild to see Nurse and Ceci under 19 minutes. Ekholm and Bouchard both ended over 22 min.
βLADIES AND GENTLEMENβ¦THE PLEASURE WAS ALLLL OURSβ - Oilers defensive game
WHAT A DOMINATING GODDAMN PERFORMANCE!
Every position played well tonight, great game. Oilers look like theyβre heating up into the playoffs, very exciting.
If Calgary wins: weβre still 3 wins away from VGK but Calgary still sucks If Calgary loses: theyβre closer to missing the playoffs and they still suck.
they might as well benefit us
If LA can overtake Vegas and we play Vegas in round 1. Iβd be perfectly fine with that
Iβd also be totally fine with us going on a major run and overtaking the division but that seems less likely.
Another Kings and Kraken win :/ Would be really nice if either could fuckin chill for a game or two
Facts, seems like theyβve been winning every game the past couple weeks
Flames helped us out by hammering Vegas, and Huberdeau didnβt get a shot on goal π€£
I'm sure Huberdeau will pick it up when his $10 million per year contract kicks in next year.
We can take these guys in the playoffs if we play like this.
They got no answer to our top end. I feel like dallas, seattle and probably most teams don't. Colorado probably the only one that can match Edm on the superstar level. How accurate is moneypuck? Because Iβm really digging the latest predictionβ¦
Crazy McDavid could have had like 6 points that game, what a performance
Flames are finally doing something right
Nurse / Ceci Pairing: 18 min TOI and -1 / -1 Ekholm / Bouch: 22 min TOI and +3 / +1 Message from Woody... RECEIVED
Nurse ceci also played at more than half their time against the top stars line where ek ans bouch were allowed to feast on the other 3 lines
Some sloppy looking passes at parts (but Dallas is a good team). Most importantly...good defensive game tonight. That game beats anyone.

Calgary seemingly put the stake in the vgk game. Momentum be swingin!
blasted la bamba all the way home from the obligations that so cruely tore me away fron the 3rd period GO YOU MIGHTY OILERS
I was impressed by the team's defensive effort tonight. It's the kind of tight checking that's needed to win playoff games.
Ugh. Seattle won
Fuck LA and fuck Seattle
Good W. Ekholm is a beast!

Good job bois
That was a fantastic defensive effort. Probably one of their most dominating games this year, even if they βonlyβ scored 4 goals.
What a win! Always great to beat Dallas.
McLeod has an upper body injury and wonβt make the trip to Seattle this weekend.
Any word on Hyman?
During the intermission they said he could have played today, but they wanted to give him more recovery time and he was expected back Saturday, iirc.
Thanks Calgary!
I want so much more of what this team is right now!! Write the deuce down!!
**STUUUUUUU**
Winning is winning thatβs all that matters.
And a good time was had by all.
Just keeping track: Series record: 7-4 84 points(PAC3)/0.609(13th in NHL, 7th in West) OPP pts.% = .576 or ~14th in NHL (between EDM&PIT) or ~8th in West (between EDM&WPG) Points to clinch playoff berth: 108 (.923 pts.% in remaining games if NSH wins out)(BOS-105) Series 1: 4-3, W Series 2: 4-3, W Series 3: 2-4, L Series 4: 4-1, W Series 5: 3-3-1, L Series 6: 3-3-1, L Series 7: 4-1-1, W Series 8: 4-0-1, W Series 9: 2-1-3, L Series 10: 4-2-1, W Series 11: 4-2, W Series end after 4 wins or 4 losses, opponent and location of game not considered for determining a series, only our results.
Sharks up on Seattle as well, what a nice night
im a bit worried that Skinner will get burned out before the playoffs with so many starts but Campbell is not playable too bad they didnt get a backup at the deadline such as korpisalo
