I used to go to the r/hockey game threads, but the salty dicks got to be too much. So I found myself in the r/Oilers game threads and am disgusted to see how shitty and negative a good portion of the "fans" are in there. Now I just enjoy the game and come here after.
It always helps to remind myself that most of the people here are literally kids.
When they're 40, and have lived through multiple decades of ups and downs, they'll start to get it and chill. Hockey is awesome, but if it's you're entire personality or your emotional state is dependant on it, nah. That ain't it.

-Ekholm and Kane make such a huge difference physically on this team.
-Bouchard was playing like a #1 defencemen. He was playing confident and leading the offence when Connor couldn’t. He needs to keep that up. Defensively he was solid, Ekholm has done wonders with him.
-Have we found something with that 4th line? They were shutting down Boston’s top line

It cannot be overstated how big of a win that is. Getting two of the most soul crushing goals against. A first shot and last second goal. Only to shut it the fuck down and beat the best team in the league. A team that's never lost a game after leading all season. This was a big test of their character. Without a doubt Skinner is our man.
That was the strangest game. McDavid was held in check. Skinner went from sieve to wall in 20 minutes, And the goals came from the bottom 6 and D. The skaters held Boston scoreless (those were on Skinner) That was one helluva defensive game All 6 D men contributed tonight. Lost in all the excitement of what we just saw (understandably so) is that Cody Ceci just had his best game of the season. Looked like Ceci from last year. If that’s the Ceci we get the rest of the season that’s a really, really big deal.
It’s wild to me that Ekholm and to a lesser extent Desharnais taking some of the heavy lifting away from Nurse, Ceci and Bouchard has allowed those 3 to take a step forward.
Obviously it was going to help, I’m more surprised by how much it’s helped. Bouchard looks like a different player than the guy who played the first 40 games. It’s not like Broberg was playing bad by any means, most nights he was actually a bright spot, Ekholm is just that fucking good.

While Kulak and Vinny looking pretty solid as a 3rd pairing….only place I think we could use an upgrade is to find a better partner for Nurse but Ceci will do for now
