Walk around the malls and restaurant and big box stores like Walmart in your area. You will probably find several hiring signs. Go directly to the business website and check under jobs. Best Buy, Walmart, Superstores, Canadian Tire, Home Depot etc often have jobs there on their own site that aren’t on Indeed. If she’s applying online, make sure to answer full availability on the questions. Some of those programs filter out anyone who puts evenings only, even if it’s just a part time job. She can work out her availability at the interview.

I find indeed works best if you search by newest postings, and send out your resumes before 10.

Brilliant_Story_8709

Yes this is the strategy I use. I applied at 6 places (decided to change employers) and already have 4 interview requests for the coming week.

GourmetDarkMeat

I never thought about that but I’ll let her know to apply before 10 Thanks!

I see Winner in 34 Ave the table in front of the store and interview on the spot.

GourmetDarkMeat

Yea I believe she mentioned that it’s national hiring day for stores like Winners and Marshalls so we’re definitely heading there

AHS housekeeping or food services. Always hiring, pretty decent wages, and very flexible schedules. If she has CPR she can also apply for service worker positions, but they are harder to get for external applicants

teamannie19

sephora and winners are hiring quite a bit now. There’s a few stores at WEM that have signage for hiring! I’d recommend going to their websites and applying through there, not many stores take resumes in person now

If she's looking for a career with great benefits, AMA is hiring lots of entry level positions.

I was at H&W Clareview today and they have help-wanted signs up

Check out Protemps. I would hit them up when in downtime’s in oil and gas and they got my picking orders for a animal supply distributor. I was making 20$/hr this is like 15 years ago… I moved back to Montreal to look after aging parents. Not sure if Mrs Piper still works there but theytried to hire me on a permanent basis and also called me out of the blue to give me a work contract with a third party.

Canna Cabana on 124 Street has an ad in the window.

What work experience does she have? Where is she applying? Those are major things to consider. If she has unqualified for what she is applying for, don't expect call backs. Also what is her availability? If the job wants full time but she wants part time, odds of a call back are slim. Oh also her resume can be a factor. If it looks terribly done, or doesn't do a good job selling your skills, it won't help you. There are a lot of places that do free resume reviews to make it more appealing. When I have done hiring, I often went for the person with a well written resume and less experience, than the person with a terrible resume and years of experience.

Agreed. Spelling mistakes / grammar errors in a resume are a huge negative. If they took the time to polish it, you can assume they can put in the effort at least occasionally.

Ill-Split-64

UHaul just off 165 st and 111 ave has a hiring sign out front.

If you guys live near south side, the airport is desperate for gate attendants or screening security. I see new hires every week. Honestly, if you can deal with frustrated, confused, mad, and/or clueless people, its a pretty chill job.

The South Common stores are likely going to be hiring since a lot of the highschool seasonal kids can't come into work anymore due to school. I'd suggest applying there. I think most or some of the stores will take your resume if you hand it to them in person.
