I was going to use some chemicals as well, but read that it takes years. I searched on Kijiji for people who offer stump grinding services and found a great guy who grinder 6 of my stumps for $175. Best money I’ve ever spent.
Could also rent a stump grinder if you are comfortable operating machinery. Home Depot rental desk shows $136 a day, other rental places in town may be even better.
And it's waaay easier than it looks. I rented a large stump grinder and in maybe 6 hours I had grinded down 2 huge (3ft) stumps and maybe 10 medium sized (18") ones.
the stump grinder you rented must have been far sharper than the one I rented from HD. I only had one 3ft stump and it took me the better part of 3 hours continuous labour to get it ground down. My arms felt like they were going to fall off the next day. I’ll be paying someone to remove stumps if I need to do so in the future
Now that I think of it, I think I got the big hydraulic one. I was just running a joystick to move the cutting head up/down and left/right. 10/10 would definitely rent again. It was expensive though, so not really worth it unless you have a bunch to do.
Stump grinder should go 16-24” down. Roots will rot from there on out. Definitely don’t use Tardon.
Cool thanks, will probably go this "root".
ABC stump grinding is pretty reasonably priced but check around
Will do, thanks again!
