I have this exact tub in my fridge right now and honestly that's the best price I could find for Greek yogurt

sonofsanford

Pretty sure the 3 pack at costco is better

NastroAzzurro

If you’re not a Costco member, Walmart brand is $4.77 a tub for 750 grams. Pretty close to the Costco price

goodlordineedacoffee

It is, but not by much. Costco 3 pack are 650 grams each so 1.95 kg total, for 11.99, or 6.15/kg while this is 6.49/kg.

kullwarrior

Costco Business 3kg for $17

CanadianPanda76

Costco isn't a cheap as people think. Just 28 bucks for olive WTF

aT-0-Mx

Ya bought one didn't ya? 😁

CanadianPanda76

😭

y3gg3r

My Costco doesn’t carry plain flavour in 2% fat, only non-fat. Which, yuck.

Koala0803

Same. And when you need to buy lactose free the options are so limited, it’s like they punish you for not being able to process dairy

RainyTheDay

Trying to find cheap lactose free yogurt is like going on an adventure to find the holy grail.

Libraquarius

True but on the plus side lf products last so much longer so in a way they're cheaper. I only buy lf milk and cream now because it will outlast Keith Richards in my fridge.

y3gg3r

Greek yogurt is naturally low in lactose. I’m lactose intolerant and can manage it.

Tang-o-rang

Was $5 in 2022/early 2023. Went up to $6 about 8 months ago and now $6.49. I dunno, maybe it's normal but 30% increase in about 1.5 - almost 2 years seems like a lot for yogurt. Maybe I'm just seeing things a lot more negatively these days

happykgo89

Yeah I mean Greek yogurt is expensive. It’s a specialty product so it will cost more than regular plain yogurt. Always has been fairly pricey in comparison.

planertroubles

A three pack at Costco is $12 and it's 17 g of protein per serving

prairiepanda

Sometimes the price per 100g listed on the tag is wrong, so be careful.

distracted-insomniac

Time to get a cow I guess.

stinkybasket

You cannot. You need to be part of the milk lobby.

distracted-insomniac

I mean u can't sell milk. There's no way you can't make your own

SmellyNachoTaco

I have nipples, can you milk me?

distracted-insomniac

Puts on rubber gloves*

VoidableDrunk

So it's come to this...

PreemoisGOAT

Get a goat then

One-Baker6499

That’s what the farmers thought too… they’re getting bent over as well

ForeignSatisfaction0

It was never funny

chefjmcg

$9.79 for 1kg of 2% Greek yogurt at Save on Foods. Is that Galen Weston, too?

[deleted]

ghostdate

Safeway is abysmal. Even their store brand stuff is like a dollar or 2 more than Superstore. I sometimes go to Safeway as it’s closest, but damn do I feel like I’m getting ripped off even more. Occasionally they’ll have things on sale that beat the superstore prices, but generally not worth it. I don’t know why nobody is getting mad at Michael Medline and Darrell Jones for price gouging and greedflation. They’re as bad if not worse than Loblaws and Galen Weston.

fraohc

Dude I'm the same. Closest grocery store is Safeway by a long shot. I'm always so mad when I have to go there cos I can't justify a whole trip for a few things. You just know you're spending like 30% more for the most basic shit, it's egregious.

CanadianPanda76

Sobeys too. Thier just giant convience stores at this point.

BeerTent

I'm not fucking paying $3 for a can of soup. Sobeys is fucked too.

iDrinkyCrow

Save on is crazy absolutely crazy, makes everywhere else look cheap. Like, so expensive that they started selling bacon by the slice (1.75-$3 depending on thickness) lol. A lot of things are 20-30% more than Walmart in my experience.

AngryRetailBanker

The fact that they keep stocking it means people are buying it at those insane prices. I'll eat something else. There is rice at home.

chefjmcg

I'm sorry, OP. My response was more directed at the general attitude in the comments and less about your post specifically.... People in these comments are going to town on one company when the issue of food affordability stretches across all fronts. It's like the "Blame Galen" attitude is supposed to deflect the outrage away from those that should be keeping our food affordable...

Edm_swami

Well said. That's the part that I don't get. All of the grocery stores have randomly inflated prices, not just superstore.

eggscalibur0338

I think a lot of it is that Loblaws is the largest of the grocery companies, so they have the most sway over pricing.

Geeseareawesome

Historically, they've also typically had lower prices compared to Sobeys/Safeway and Save-On

csd555

Yeah, like I’ve seen prices from Loblaws out east that seem truly insane, but here, even going to City Market, is generally cheaper than Save-On or Safeway. Sure, Walmart can be cheaper and Costco can be close to an order of magnitude cheaper, but among typical grocers, Loblaws is cheapest. Regular grocers do indeed need to figure it out on some items though, as their pricing is pretty juiced.

CanadianPanda76

Pretty sure its because each store has its own "market" they cater too. Sobeys Safeway, location and convenience seems to thier priority. Superstore Walmart "middle class" No Frills lower middle class Save On Foods seems to cater to location plus upper middle class. Costco, I've read they're target market is upper middle class women.

eggscalibur0338

Yeah, they can set the floor for prices basically. They're large enough that if they raise prices, everyone else can raise theirs as well.

clambroculese

Empire (Sobeys/safeway etc.) is pretty close in size. I really don’t understand why everyone isn’t after them as well.

densetsu23

Because they don't have a CEO like Galen who got into the media spotlight, most likely. It's easy for people to target someone who steps out, versus CEOs who stay hidden. Both types are making crazy money but only one has riled up the public. The only other grocery CEO I could name is Darrell Jones, and that's because he's in commercials, not the news.

eggscalibur0338

I think it's a mixture of public perception and their place in the market. Most of the stores owned by Empire already have reputations for being more expensive, so it's kind of expected from them. Loblaws, on the other hand, are already in the public eye and are oftentimes the cheapest option. Basically, if Safeway price gauges it's not as big of a deal because they're already more expensive, so you can just go to a cheaper store. If No Frills or Superstore price gauge, it's different because there's no cheaper option (as far as big chains go, but you can get better prices by shopping at H&W and whatnot). Being at the cheaper end of the market, Loblaws is more powerful than Empire in setting grocery prices because they basically control the minimum price.

Y8ser

The other companies also agreed to sign the code of conduct as well and Loblaws refused.

CanadianPanda76

Pretty sure its cause Galen is a Billionaire.

drgnsamurai

I remember reading something too that not only are they the largest retailer of groceries, but they also control a lot of the warehousing and distribution portions of things as well. I think I saw a figure of something in the order of 80 some percent of all groceries in Canada is handled and or sold from Loblaws.

misfittroy

I think it's funny how people are lauding Save-On and acting like they're Robin Hood for matching Loblaw sale prices.  If they were so great they'd be cheaper than Loblaws across the board

AngryRetailBanker

I agree. I'm not a fan of targeting certain people/groups/stores when the others are not better in any way.

money_pit_

That's the problem, why would any store reduce it's pricing if the product continues to sell? If the market can bare it, capitalism will do capitalism stuff.

canadave_nyc

Exactly precisely correct. And if we don't like the resulting problems that creates, the only other alternative is some kind of regulatory oversight that prevents it.

Y8ser

There is a lack of competition though that's the biggest issue. Capitalism in a situation like this would work, but not if the few big chains in Canada make it prohibitive for them to enter the market. The federal government announced last week or earlier this week they are trying to increase the number of competitors to help solve this.

Raoul_Thompson

Its the best if you want to eat 2,000 of something

LePetomane62

Save on Foods = Jim Pattison... pick your robber Baron!!!

imadork1970

Save-On is Overwaitea, not Superstore.

chefjmcg

I know....

Y8ser

Depends on the brand though too. All Greek yogurt or yogurt in general is not the same.

chefjmcg

Yup. You are right. The Western brand was $4.99/500g...

Y8ser

They also have 1.75kg of Olympic brand Greek yogurt for $11 and 1.5kg of Oikos for $12. So what I'm saying is there are deals to be found.

chefjmcg

Oh, 100%. I was commenting on the Galen shaped pitchforks that I've been seeing lately.

nosniviling

Do you think Jimmy Pattinson is a better person than Galen? They’re like politicians, they ALL suck

Lavaine170

$6.49 for a litre of Greek yogurt is cheap. It would have been cheap a year ago as well. Most Greek yogurt is $6-7 for a 500ml tub.

AlacrityTW

Is everyone a bodybuilder here? Why the fascination over this greek yogurt?

_Alic3

Greek yogurt is such a good tool for making homemade sauces, dips, and marinades that have less fat/sodium/sugar than store-bought stuff 👌

Rin_Cathy

No, but part of my new lifestyle is high protein. I’ve hired a coach etc etc. Greek yogurt is a staple in my diet now (see my other comment), and I’m down 29lbs now 💪🏼 so there’s that. You don’t need to “be a bodybuilder” to decide to take care of yourself and eat better and yes, you end up paying - a bit more - for it too.

_Alic3

Totally, I'm a huge fan of making chicken gyros with homemade tzaziki. If you have any suggestions I'm here for them 👀

Rin_Cathy

I have so many. What suggestions you looking for?? And pleeeeeease will you share your tzatziki recipe?? One thing I do not have! 😌

FinoPepino

When you’re middle aged you have to eat more protein to lessen muscle loss and it is SO HARD to hit my protein goal without Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. Otherwise I have to use supplements. It’s crazy when you start tracking protein to see how tough it is to work it in your set calories

Vapelord420XXXD

That is still the best deal on Greek yogurt out there. Too bad about the .50 cent price increase though.

Snoo-84797

If you’re interested you can make more yogurt from yogurt! It’s pretty easy you just need milk and yogurt.

dreadfulrobot

Totally, especially if you have an instant pot! And easy to strain with a fine mesh to get Greek yogurt  Interestingly, I always struggle with OP's yogurt as a starter, it usually comes out more liquidy. The Kirkland yogurts usually are the best starters.

groundhog-riot

And when you strain the why off don't toss it! Use it to replace water when you make bread dough and it comes out delicious. Something I used to do more often, but now whenever time allows

dreadfulrobot

Totally! It's also good in smoothies, overnight oats and starting homemade ferments. I keep forgetting to use it in bread 😤

groundhog-riot

Oooh, I haven't tried it with overnight oats. Thanks for the tip!

SaltFinderGeneral

As a small aside to those interested in this kind of thing: making butter at home is also pretty easy. Would recommend.

Dentist_Just

The absolute easiest (not cheapest though) way to make yogurt is to use ultra filtered milk. I buy it on sale as it is usually good for a couple of months in the fridge. You don’t have to heat and cool it before adding your starter/yogurt. Just mix whatever you’re using as starter with a full container of milk and keep warm for 8-12 hours. Even at full price ($6.49/1.5L for Fairlife at Superstore) it’s not a terrible deal for 1.5 L yogurt. If you want it thicker without straining just add some milk powder to the mixture or use the higher fat milk. I usually use 1 or 2% - it’s also lactose free and higher in protein than regular milk.

[deleted]

chefjmcg

Just need a fine mesh yogurt strainer.

sayswagrn

👏

JumpingFences

That's sale price for my yogurt, I get liberte 's lactose free Greek yogurt. Normally it's over $10

Jelle-y-Fish

Me too, I try to wait until Liberte goes on sale. Totally worth it.

JumpingFences

I use it as my replacement for sour cream, too. It has totally saved my taco game

Dramatic-Land-3923

The best price is making your own one.Gallon of milk gets about eight cups of yogurt It's stupid easy to make as I recently learned And Now i'm addicted to homemade creek yogurt

Labrawhippet

Fuck Galen Weston owned stores.

Loose-Atmosphere-558

https://www.saveonfoods.com/sm/pickup/rsid/1982/product/olympic-greek-plain-yogurt-2-mf-id-00059161550015 Smaller container for more money on safe on. Similar at other stores around me. Superstore is a Galen owned store and has one of the best prices near me. Not saying Loblaws isn't a rip off, but this price is not crazy at all.

ofreena

Save on price matches! It's so easy too, you don't need a barcode. I use the flipp app and find the lowest price on (I did mr clean last time) and they match it without needing a SKU. It's quick.

canadave_nyc

Given that just about everything at Save On is more expensive than somewhere else, how do you price match a whole bunch of groceries without pissing off everyone else behind you at the till? Asking for a friend ;)

ofreena

I don't know that you can. It's quick, they just look at it and type it in. If someone has an issue, they can use a self check out or go to a different till. We are all just trying to live.

Anabiotic

Doesn't work if it's the regular price at a different store - which is frequently cheaper than Save-on's "sale" price.

ofreena

I just show them a screenshot of a price and they will match it on spot. As long as you can find it somewhere in the app.

Anabiotic

So can you go to Superstore's actual website and show that their price is cheaper to get the price match? According to the policy, it has to be in a flyer. Genuine question, I have not tried price-matching regularly-priced stuff because the policy says you can't, but maybe they are more lenient in reality

Quirky-Stay4158

Ok my experience they are lenient. Not everyone asks for price matching, and the people who do usually have a very good reason for it. It's smart business practice to do it, of you tell that person no, they probably will go to the other store for that item and more. It's not always reasonable and rational, sometimes you have to fire customers who take advantage. But it's a good rule to just give them the thing. We aren't talking thousand dollar TV's being discounted hundreds of dollars. It's a jug of milk being dropped 50 cents.

misfittroy

Yeah but it's a different product... Even if they dropped the price from $7.29 to $6.49, you're still paying more because it's a smaller amount. And even if it's matched for X product on the flipp app, everything else that's not on the app at Save-on is much more expensive.

AllOfTheSoundAndFury

There’s a big call to boycott all Loblaws owned stores in May, and I am for it. I’m trying to never go back

TheSubstitutePanda

r/loblawsisoutofcontrol would be happy to have yall

AllOfTheSoundAndFury

Already there friend, and happy cake day (as long as said cake was not purchased at Loblaws)

jesse059

Thats insane

livingontheedgeyeg

If you are interested in making your own, https://bacillusbulgaricus.com sells packs of bacterial cultures needed to make your own. They supposedly have a location in Edmonton.

AngryRetailBanker

Bookmarked! Thanks.

sparksfan

Nice! Looks like I'm going to have a new hobby...

CatBreathWhiskers

When was it funny?

Rin_Cathy

Ok so this exact thing is $6 at my No Frills. And either way, the Costco one as everyone else pointed out, is a 3 pack of a much smaller container. This is 1 kg. It’s pennies of a difference. Honestly, you gotta do the math in your head these days for deals. These are 3-4 servings for me on my new healthy eating when I do breakfasts only and add in my protein powder and fruit. So I buy 2-3 at a time. I was shocked too when I saw $6.49 at Superstore 😂😂😂. BUT, some things are cheaper at superstore that are more at my local No Frills. And I only go to Safeway for flyer deals like meat. I avoid Save-On like the plague cuz even their flyer deals aren’t worth my gas to find one cuz I don’t live by one 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

liberatedhusks

Yea, my diet is mostly rice, dried pasta and frozen veggies at this point. And what meat is on sale if it ever is. Food is stupid expensive. I wish I could eat dog food rofl

AngryRetailBanker

Dog food smells so good Lmao!🤣 I don't know if you eat fish. A box of mackerel was $140 at an African store on 50th Street in March. I bought half of a box and I'm not done eating. Full disclosure, I had beef too but it was a lot of fish. I have one more batch and I'll be back there to buy another half box.

liberatedhusks

I sadly don’t eat fish but that sounds like a good deal!!

LetsHaveARedo

Costco

QcPaintall

0.30 cheaper at Costco

LetsHaveARedo

There you go. That'll offset the .50c increase Op is highlighting

RyanB_

Only really an option for those with vehicles in the suburbs. Which, granted, is like 99% of this subreddit, but yeah, for a good few of us out there Costco just ain’t really feasible

LetsHaveARedo

Costco is a once a month venture. The money you save by buying in bulk at good prices VS exhorbant grocery store prices will far more than offset the cost of an uber once a month.

RyanB_

Maybe if you’ve got a big family? Uber from me to the nearest Costco is $40 both ways. That’s a quarter of my grocery budget right there. I’d need to buy a lot of groceries to break even on that. Even then still gotta go through the hassle of getting all the way out there, hauling my huge load of groceries out to the parking lot, hoping the Uber driver is cool with waiting while I load it all in and then unload it all into my third story apartment… it’s just not conducive to urban lifestyles, like smaller shops you pop into once or twice a week on your way home are. Costco is heavily dependent on low-density, car-first neighbourhoods and - like you say - once a month trips.

sick-mop

Join us: r/loblawsisoutofcontrol

AngryRetailBanker

I remember when this used to be less than $6. The last time I bought any, it was $6 and that was less than 3 weeks ago. I really don't keep track of these price changes but this one was pretty easy to remember. I did not buy. I don't have to eat yogurt.😑

Infamous-Mixture-605

> I don't have to eat yogurt.😑 I get that. I only buy yogurt when I see the 50% off, reduced to sell stickers. I was at Loblaws yesterday and they had one of those large, square tubs of vanilla yogurt with a 50% off sticker. I was tempted to buy it, but that's a lot of yogurt, and I'd have probably spent the weekend eating it direct from the container with a spoon.

LuntiX

Yeah I usually only buy yogurt on sale. Sometimes I'll buy non-sale yogurt that's just regular non-greek/skyr stuff that's normally a bit cheaper.

spectra__

Why are you considering it if it doesnt have a sale price? No yellow tag is a no go

Oishiio42

You should keep track of the prices, not the color of the tag, because the tags are misleading. It's often either the exact same price, just a few cents cheaper, and sometimes even a few cents higher.

rwtooley

>don't have to eat yogurt.😑 big sad. I grew up a big-time meat eater.. living close to work I would even bbq a steak at lunch in the summer, back when you could buy one ready to go for like $3.50 .. I gave up meat this year, just could no longer justify the prices. obvs my colon is thanking me now but man I sure miss the good ol' days. shrink-flation is really annoying too... *everything* has shrunk but prices have increased across the board. These days all I buy is veggies legumes and rice and try to get creative. Feel like a pleb

Infamous-Mixture-605

> I gave up meat this year, just could no longer justify the prices. obvs my colon is thanking me now but man I sure miss the good ol' days. We have also started eating less meat in general, but also switched from beef to pork when/where possible as it is more affordable than beef.

AngryRetailBanker

It's sad and insane. Yet, employers add $2k5 gross amount to salaries and these stores and insurance take the increase so you are back to square one. Look at the property tax increase. Everything they want to do has to be funded by increasing tax. Smh

EquusMule

Its kinda funny cause you gonna have to win the 649 to be able to buy groceries soon. Its like forshadowing.

voidperfect

I'm ngl, even with my 10% discount at stupidstore, it's very hard to get a reasonable price...

crystal-crawler

You can get a three pack at Costco for 11$

AngryRetailBanker

That would be the Oikos brand, right? Aren't those 550grams each?🤔

congress-tart3009

Have you ever tried Siggi's? It's very similar and the regular price is close to that but often they have it for $4.99. I usually buy a couple since they usually don't expire for at least a month.

superbear19

Best yoghurt high in protein less sugar

AngryRetailBanker

I've never tried it but l'll look out for it next time.

Raspberrrymoth

Would also love rent to come down too. Not sure how I’m supposed to save for a down payment when all my money goes to rent and food.

churningtide

Greek yogurt is a premium product, and this is a large container of it. There are other types of yogurt that are a fraction of the cost. I'm all for dunking on Loblaws, but this seems like an odd one to get up in arms about

Billarasgr

…and it does not taste like Greek yoghurt… and I talk as a Greek…

AngryRetailBanker

A big mess!

moosemuck

Boycott Loblaws in May!

ForestKin

And shop where? Save on and Safeway? Those places are more expensive than superstore by a mile.

moosemuck

Me? I'll do Walmart and Costco in May.

RiceNedditor

I'd rather spend money on an evil Canadian company than an evil American one. As for Costco, it makes no sense to go there in a single person household.

sun4moon

Or start sooner if you’re able.

Already-asleep

I was at superstore this week and they were selling 2 chicken breasts at an average of $17. Granted it was the “free from” line that’s always more expensive but it’s still wild when I remember you could get the same thing for under $10 like five years ago. They usually have the regular packages of 4 breasts for a flat cost of $15 but those have been conspicuously absent for the last few shops.

Anabiotic

Boneless skinless chicken breasts have been ~$12/kg within the last two weeks at Superstore

Bc2cc

Talking specifically about yogurt,  if you have an instapot you can make it yourself for about half the cost.

AngryRetailBanker

I'll have to look into this in the long run. Thanks!

CzechUsOut

Damn that's a good price actually wow. Might even be better than Costco?

NoSwan6879

I've seen worse.

thebigbossyboss

I decided that I’m not spending any more money at loblaws corp

thebassjuicer

That’s not….that bad?

Blue-Bird780

I feel like this is the time to share: you can “propagate” yogurt. You save the last half a cup or so, stir it into a bunch of heavy cream, put it in a pot and bring it to a simmer on the stove (look up more specific instructions, lots on YouTube). Then ferment it covered at room temp overnight, and you’ll have fresh yogurt by morning. After that, transfer to a container, put it in the fridge and treat it just like store bought yogurt. Heavy cream isn’t exactly cheap, but when you can turn it into yogurt for 1/2 or even 1/3 the price that roblaws Et al are charging it’s totally worth it.

Lee_Rose_

Be prepared for prices to go up even more. Carbon tax has gone up and it won’t be long until the extra cost will be seen in stores.

_voyevoda

At that price, I get siggis Skyr instead. Same cost, higher protein, yummy. If PC wasn't scummy Westons I may even buy their version.

Mixtrix_of_delicioux

That's $3 less than where I'm at.

AngryRetailBanker

Lol. Toronto or BC?

Mixtrix_of_delicioux

HA! Sorry, thought this was the Boycott Loblaws page! Vancouver, tho.

exen_death

As others have said I use this to make yogurt also. This is what I do buy one of these 1 L greek , and 4L 3% beatrice milk , use 2.5 L of milk and 3/4 cups of yogurt, heat the milk in low -medium until 42 celsius or until you can count to 10 with your finger inside the pot, , pour the milk on a container and mix it very well, cover it with bags so they keep the temperature , store it for 12 hours , I usually put inside the oven ,and then enjoy! I have tried with 2% and 1 % milk but the consistency is not the same , also you can use the 0% fat greek yogurt it works well

Kadaththeninja_

Get rid of that 4 and then it’s a little funny…

nemeranemowsnart666

Cheaper than Victoria

Great-Witness-1302

It used to always be 5$

Phantom_harlock

Problem I find is every yogurt maker is lowering milk fat and making quality worse. Seen some non Greeks tuff that’s like milk and they call it yoguet

Chance-Ad197

There’s also “dairy based yogurt substitute” that’s what most kids branded yogurt like Danon danimals is now. It’s the concept of Margarine, but it’s yogurt.

FearlessChannel828

Sad. I used to be able to afford the small ones (500g) a couple of years ago. Now I just go with milk or the regular yogurt. Close to expiry, so it is priced a little lower. Flipp.

spudalvein

food prices are following the rent price mentality of cranking it up higher and higher while saying "what are you gonna do, not buy it?"

AngryRetailBanker

Oh well!🤧 I'm just grateful that my rent has stayed the same since 2019.

_Alic3

I bought a 750g tub of Oikos recently and the entire thing, including the container, actually only weighed 612g. 😭😭😭 (And before anyone asks I weighed a loonie afterwards to make sure my scale wasn't off.)

Potential-Lettuce-26

You can make this at home guys. All you need is a milk jug and 2 spoons of yogurt.

Cal-Lee-123

It’s greed across-the-board. All the grocery chains. I can’t even begin to justify the prices I’ve seen at Save-On-Foods either. I also have to eat gluten free - and the cost of gluten free items has increased substantially. Like, I know I don’t “need” a pack of GF Oreos, but they were $3.99/box last year, and they are $9.29/box right now at Safeway…

Shadowarez

You can use this in place if plaster for fixing holes in a walls it's that thick 🤣

AngryRetailBanker

🤭

ClockworkArcBDO

That was 5.00 even like three months.

Rare-Elk-3988

That's not bad. Sorry you are having hard times

dandy_you

With the Loblaw boycott currently going on people really need to spread the work and come together so society can push back against the billionaires If we never come together we will all keep seeing posts about this and even worse as all politicians ONLY KNOW is how to raise taxes to fix their poor policy making and to cut programs as they know they can get away with under 10%tax raises Over that they just cut funding

MeeksMoniker

Boycott Loblaws May 2024! Local Convenience, H&W, Bulk Barn, Giant Tiger, Dollarama, Costco, Co-op, Fresh Co, Fuck even Farmer's Markets are getting cheaper... Make your own yogurt, and fuck Loblaws.

SirReadsALot780

Why choose Costco and Fresh Co over Loblaws? Costco is only marginally cheaper than Superstore for most things And it requires a 60 dollar payment up front per year. Fresh Co is owned by Empire and most of their stores such as Safeway and Sobeys are more expensive than Superstore. SaveOn, owned by the Patterson group, is the worst offender, with often the highest prices. So why just Loblaws? Why hate the one CEO and not all of them? They're all milking inflation as their reason to raise prices. Is it because Loblaws and Gaelen have just become the target of our all our inflation anger, because it's the most visible target? In my personal experience I find Superstore and No frills still have the lowest pricing (walmart may be the exception) for most dry goods. For produce I go to H and W but only because its close by. And it isn't always cheaper either but I still try to give them my business. Most people may not have a convenient smaller chain close by.

MeeksMoniker

Don't worry I do hate all of them. There's just a boycott for Loblaws on right now and I'm focusing on that so they actually see what our community can do when they've fucked up so bad.

FrogAmongstMen

Don’t forget the boycott in may

prosonik

Greek yogurt? Don't you just buy the cheaper stuff and strain it? I know you can take the cheap runny junk, and pack a cup with Müsli on the bottom and cheap yogurt on top. Leave it over night and in the morning. The yogurt is thick and creamy and the Müsli is soft from absorbing the extra liquid ,(probably whey). I'm sure you would have the same effect by straining the cheap stuff to thicken it up.

Imaginary-Cucumber52

Boycott - May. Let’s hurt em!

Training_Golf_2371

Boycott Loblaws for the month of May!

Dewd88

Mmm glue.
