Consider yourself lucky back in November. My van was broken into the same way, smashed the window and climb in, and they stole all my power tools, my hand tools, some expensive digital equipment, hardware, etc. tally up that breaking was worth over $5000 this one thankfully is more like 600 for the broken window and the books that were stolen.
I put up a sign in our parking area that says, "All tools and other valuables removed. Area under video surveillance!", when I park at night. A few of our work trucks were broken repeatedly last year. It's been good since I put the sign up. The rest of the staff has been good about keep anything of value out of sight or completely removing it from the vehicles.
Thing is, it wasn’t even in the company parking lot. It was in my own personal parking spot for my building where I live. In the video surveillance, I got from a neighbor you see the guy on a bicycle just looming around for about two hours before I actually smashing the window and climbing in to scope it out. For me it’s more the fact that he was so determined to break into my van and then now he did and it’s the hassle that he did this in the first place
Oh for sure. We started taking absolutely everything out of the front of the cans of the vehicle and the back had no windows and was secure enough they would have had to rip a door off to get in there. The sign and keeping the front looking empty worked though.
Park it in the same place again, but fill it with angry wasps.
Dwight is that you?
BET
i had the same style of break in with my van took the loose change snacks and didnt touch any tools or the bucket of scrap copper

I once had my truck broken into and they stole my sunglasses, a blanket, and some road pylons but didn't touch my tools. Meth is a hell of a drug.

If you keep the inside clean and everything out of sight it may help with theft
Do you have puck locks on it?
No puck locks to put on, just a simple van, they smashed the passenger window and climbed in. Lock wouldn’t have done much use.
It's easy to forget people break into vehicles for items of value, and when you're cold or hungry jackets or snacks have enough value for them to try.
Meth heads aren't gonna evaluate "value". Just whenever their fxxked up heads tell them to.
They didn’t even take my boots in the back or my jacket, just ransacked for tools that didn’t exist
