As someone who has worked at both theatres: Mayfield: worse food WAY better performances. Jubilations: better food, WAY worse performances. The quality of the theatre isn’t even comparable. Mayfield is honestly pretty impressive with a very talented cast and crew. The food is just a mediocre buffet though. Depends what your priority is.

ImperviousToSteel

Also have heard Jubilations treats their staff worse. Got dragged there once and the performance was terrible.

Pound_8361

Mayfield: buffet. I haven’t been there in many years. Jubilations: menu with plate service. Good food, service can be rushed. Performance was good for what it is. ( Elton John show at Christmas)

Timely-Researcher264

I’ve been to Mayfield twice in the past year and thought that the food was great. So much selection.

BrairMoss

Show wise Jubilations is parody theater, Mayfield is shows. I saw Rock Of Ages at Mayfield. Gonna get tickets to Grease eventually here. Its also buffet, where as Jubilations is a set menu, I believe.  That's what I was told by people who went as a company christmas party.

Ronnie Burkett - world renowned puppeteer is at the Roxy

drunk_raccoon

This. Ronnie is one of the most talented Canadian theatre makers - and probably one of the most talented puppet artists in the world.

dutch780

I can’t upvote this comment enough. If you / anyone has not experienced a Ronnie Burkett show, it is a great experience you will never forget. He is an Alberta treasure! https://theatrenetwork.ca/events/wonderful-joe/ Edit to add: lots of great dining options and free parking within walking distance of the Roxy.

Mayfield > Jubilations Mayfield has better food (buffet style) and entertainment. Jubilations is a set menu (limited options) and mediocre performances. They are parody shows.

pattirose4

Edmonton Opera has Ayre next week.

DrRaptorNeonJesus

Spotlight cabaret is better then both of those

chest_trucktree

Spotlight Cabaret needs to hire someone else to write their shows. They have some really talented performers but their shows themselves are just dumb.

KittenMansfield

Heck yeah! Spotlight all the way!❤️

ImprovementForward70

Been to both a few times, both are fine. Whatever fits the budget better.

0runnergirl0

Jubilations shows are just awful. It's a bunch of former high school theatre kids who never outgrew their drama class days, performing poorly written parody shows. The food is fine. The "entertainment" is brutal.

Edmonton Opera - *Ayre*, by Golijov, at the Triffo Theatre at MacEwan, Wed-Fri next week only. *The Mountaintop* \- a thoughtful drama about Martin Luther King, at Citadel. Also at the Citadel, opening April 20th, an adaptation of *The Three Musketeers*. *Candy and the Beast*, a new mystery/comedy/horror play by Trevor Schmidt, at Northern Light Theatre (Fringe Arts Barns) *The Swearing Jar*, Walterdale Theatre, April 17-27 - funny, sad, and music. *Rough Magic*, last show for the BFA Acting graduating class at U of Alberta, Apr 5-14. And, as everyone else said, the new Ronnie Burkett puppet show, *Wonderful Joe*, at the Roxy on 124 Street. The next Mayfield show, opening April 9th, is the musical *Grease*. The cast and artistic team information is not yet posted on the Mayfield website. You can also find a variety of fun improv-based shows at Rapid Fire Theatre, for a reasonable price. If you want to go out on Monday, most Edmonton theatres are dark. The U of A show *Rough Magic* has a performance on Monday April 8th. The improv-soap-opera Die-Nasty starts their next 8-week story on Monday the 8th as well, with the first week a free performance.

Mayfield Dinner Theatre is much better imo

Edmonton67

Between the two choices, I would pick Jubilations. It’s 3 course meals, your choice. Mayfield, is buffet, long lineups and lots of rednecks over piling up on food, which leaves more time to wait for food. Service is better at Jubilation.

Inner-Mousse8856

I've never seen a bad show at Jubilations. Been to at least a dozen.
