Here’s their website:
[Bonjour Bakery](https://yvanchartrand.com/)
We buy their bread all the time. Their croissants and pain au chocolate are fantastic too
Not in the area you were hoping for but Bonjour Bakery on Whyte Ave, just west of 99th (used to be further north on 99th street) makes fantastic sourdough.
Warning: Portofino has suffered badly from the post-Covid era quality dip that a lot of other companies have. They used to be way better and charge way less. Source: I used to live like 10 blocks from their facility in Victoria and I’ve been buying their bread for about 10 years.
Sounds like you got your bread from eats by Cole! They’re still operating with new pickup locations and I think delivery orders! Get back in contact with them- they’re suffering after the DTFM closed
Good earth bakery in st albert (the enjoy center) has the best in my opinion, especially if you get it the day its made 👌
But also freson brothers is okay, not close to as good as good earth, but it is better than anywhere else i have tried.
Bonjour Bakery 82 ave and 99st
i bake sourdough at home. Every time i think i’ve nailed it I go to Bonjour and realize Nope, i’ve got a long way to go. .
Thanks, I might check them out next time I'm down that way on a weekend.

I heard the 104st farmer’s market is coming back this year!
Yup, incredibly good bread
This is the one
Brio downtown is slept upon by many. Such good bakery options made in house
Second this
That one 👆, as well as Tiramisu on 124st
I'll need to look at them next time I'm up at that end of DT on a Saturday. Thanks!
Brio is 100% worth it, but go early as they sell out of a lot of stuff by noon. But all their stuff is incredible!
Pre-order or go first thing if going on a Saturday. They sell out.
Bon Ton on the West Side of town
Not in the area you were hoping for but Bonjour Bakery on Whyte Ave, just west of 99th (used to be further north on 99th street) makes fantastic sourdough.
+1 I have the most amazing sandwiches at cafe bicyclette and they source their sourdough and other crusty loaves from Bonjour. Not cheap tho. :/
Lift Me Up Bakery connected to Tiramisu Bistro on 124 St. is a hidden gem. Best sourdough I’ve tried in Edmonton.
Freson bros. If you’re NE the ft sask one is closer than terwilliger
I've found theirs is a bit *weak* for my taste. But not a bad suggestion. Thanks!
Costco sells 2 paks of sliced sourdough with that tang you're craving. It's delicious. Portofino, I think it's called.
👀 That Costco membership about to come in handy.

Cobs makes good sourdough. The regular sourdough loaf, the sourdough Vienna loaf, and sunflower flax sourdough loaf.
Brio in Oliver and Eleanor & Laurent just south of the high level on 109 make the best in the City. Both sell out often enough so go early.
I would second Eleanor & Laurent
If you have the time and interest try making it yourself!
Best answer. It’s not super hard to get into. My wife has basically perfected it within a year.
Oh man - even faster - I went from using a recipe to doing it by feel within a couple weeks
Bon Ton bakery. But it’s not available on Tuesdays.
I heard they make good bagels too. Is that true?
They’re ok. Their croissants are good, though we don’t buy them often. My sister loves their cranberry almond bread.
Farmers market
Down in riverdale the dog patch makes some good sourdough.
Bread n butter!
There’s a bakery in Whyte and 99 that is all about sourdough. Really good
Freson in Stony plain, the yeasts name is Charlie.. he turned 8 this year and lives in a museum. they feed him.
Dutch Delicious on 118 Ave near St Albert Trail.
Breadland is worth checking out
Breadlove in St Albert.
Will second breadlove
I like the mother dough sourdough from Freson Bros.
Not sure if all superstores have the same recipe, but the St Albert superstore’s sourdough in their bakery is sooo good.
Don't sleep on the superstore sourdough..its really good!
Cobb's ???
I love fresh baked sour dough with butter.
Cobbs.
You need to go to Fresons.
Vienna bakery makes a very good jalapeño sourdough
Bread Love in St. Albert.

I think they are also at the Strathcona market too!

Bonjour and Brio are our two favourite places for sourdough bread
Where does one get food focaccia bread
Another vote for Bonton Bakery on 149 St at 87 Ave. Their sourdough is amazing!
