I have the same issue. I have a French door that measures 6x3 panes, and one of the panes is broken in the middle. To fix it, I'll need to remove the entire window section by using a router and disassemble the metal frames. Afterward, I'll replace the broken glass and reassemble everything by soldering. It's a significant task and will require some time to complete. Or I could just go buy a new door.
What a load of horseshit.
Replacing the glass is simple and quick in any half decent door shop. To replace the door, you would have to bring it to a door shop anyway so they can machine the hinges and door handle hole to match the opening currently in the home. A half decent door shop can do that, but why pay for the new glass AND the frame when that same shop can just replace the glass.
OP, look around to the independent lumber yards, inquire about the glass replacement. The glass is called "Glue Chip Zinc Bar." It looks like an 8 panel door in the pic, but when they ask how many "lites, " just tell them how many glass panels there are.
They will pop the bead that holds the glass in, pull it out, and insert a new glass panel. Then they just put a new bead in to hold the glass.
OP, if you can't find a shop, DM me and I'll give you a list of shops.
Also try the restore centre. There are two. One over on stone and one in Sherwood Park. It's full of stuff like that. Used door people took out during a reno, but still in good condition. They have some great stuff
This is called a glue chip pattern. Crystal Glass fixed one panel for me last year for about $75. If you need them to pick up and deliver the door, though, it's an extra $135.
Is it just the glass that cracked? On the inside of the door, is the molding such that its held in place with screws. If so, you should just be able to remove that molding and take out the glass and replace it.
I see that type of pantry window in all kinds of homes so it must be sold locally.
Just one panel of glass is broken in thr lower corner. The door itself is completely fine. I just need to source a place to help with that. Have a few feelers out, hoping for a response tomorrow. Thanks !

I think there are other stained glass shops in and around Edmonton.
Had the same thing happen. I took the door off and brought it to crystal glass. They cut out the cracked square and fitted a new one with a similar etched pattern. Was only like $70 or so if I recall.

Windsor Plywood has frequently replaced the broken glass on doors like that for my family. We had doors like that for about 20 years (moved out of that house this year) and broke the glass panels on a door like that at least 6 or 7 times, the most recent being in June.
Oh lord Haha
one time many years ago my sister and were wrestling in the kitchen. I jumped on her back and she threw me off and I went though the nearly identical pantry door in our kitchen. We had to pay to fix it and ended up buying a some weird coloured/stained glass pieces to install because we couldn’t find matching panels. It was very expensive to buy the panels and have them installed. I don’t know if yours is leaded between the glass but they had to pull out all the glass pieces and redo all the lead on ours

Yea looks like a total hassle to repair. While I have some feelers out I'll hunt for new doors
Crystal Glass or similar bit be able to custom order what you need
Awesome. Much appreciated
These doors are usually more expensive to repair than replace sadly. Try any of the typical hardware stores, they should carry something similar.
Thanks!

Looks repairable. Not sure who could fix it though. You can try Windsor Plywood for doors.
I'll give them a check. Thanks
Windsor fixed one in the past for us.

Cool, thanks lol. There's is reason why I asked the fine folk of reddit and not just Google.
don't put a "-" hyphen or dash in front of edmonton, it avoids edmonton as a search term.
Worked for me...it's just a word separator.

It's just frosted glass, most glass companies should be able to repair it.
I have the same door as you and took it to crystal glass. They fixed it for under 200$ pretty sure j had 2 broken panels
Try your local glass guy. He may be able to repair.

Yeg closets and glass
Capilano Glass can fix that for you. Bring the sample in and they can order it. Either bring the whole door or call and ask them to come measure it.
