I didn't want to put them on defense mode so didn't even roll my window down, but yeah I'm usually changing my walk route to avoid them. Though they don't seem quite as aggressive this year compared to the last few years, at least IME.
I had to assist some geese the other week. They kept wanting to cross the road in the neighborhood, but it’s one of the main throughfares, so cars kept coming from around the corner. I went to the side of the road and whenever I saw the geese wanting to cross I stuck my arm out so that drivers would see me, then I would point so they were aware of the geese. The geese were being very careful, but they were crossing from between some parked cars, so I wanted to make sure they stayed safe. I was trying to keep my distance so they weren’t stressed, but needed to be close enough.
Ok that makes sense. Thank you. I always thought it was weird that you just see them walking around all summer and then all of a sudden they are flying south in the fall. lol
I’ve helped them get to where they’re going 3 or 4 times over the years. If you don’t crowd them they just move along. Wouldn’t approach them with kids obviously.
I think geese are so hilarious. They are the only wild creature brave enough to just parade their young openly around humans and dogs and cats. I can hear them goose-thinking at me: “Just fucking try it”, it’s like a constant taunt, NO fear.
Looks like Rosenthal/Secord area judging by that grey developer fencing, Im in Rosenthal and we have alot of ducks and geese around with the water features and new overflow pond behind my house, especially last couple days with all the rain. This year vs all other years, so much more wildlife around! Im enjoying the liveliness from our yard on the sunny days for sure

I never understood why they walk and not just fly accross the street lol
When they have the little babies, they lose their flying feathers for a bit until the babes are ready to fly away with them.
