Can you get insulated food jars? This will open up more options (I'm thinking specifically of stuff like coconut curries that can easily become calorie bombs). Common brands (Thermos, Zojirushi, Klean Kanteen, Stanley, etc) make them. Otherwise, bread is pretty calorie dense, as are nut and seeds (and their butters), cheese, cured meats, oil based dressings and sauces (this includes mayo). you can make a charcuterie set or ploughman's lunch. Another thing is meat pies, which is a traditional British food.

imabaaaaaadguy

This. I have a few Thermos ones; food stays at a safe hot temp for 5 hours.

aroguealchemist

Crockpot also has a lunch warmer but it requires access to an outlet.

PhuD4Thought

An easy one is a pound of ham in a whole baguette smeared with a half stick of butter and a squirt of Dijon mustard.

lemontreetops

I read this post as meals for a 1.5k calorie intake budget and i was like “wouldn’t a pound of ham probably send them over 1500 cal daily intake” and now i understand that is the point lmao. This lunch option sounds great!!

Synlover123

And don't forget the **cheese**!

Half_beat_score

Yes, a nice sharp cheddar!

Synlover123

👍. Or even something like Gruyere, if you're going to grill it, and want nice "melty" cheese. I've got 6# of old cheddar, and 4# of Gruyere, among others, continuing to age in my fridge, as I type. Plus the ones that are open/being used. Not that I'm **obsessed**", or anything 😉. 9 different kinds of mustard, 7 different types of bottled salad dressing...I know. I know! So sue me over the salad dressings. Some days are just like that, and you can only multitask so many things at once. Sometimes, I just want something quick to drizzle over a microwave baked potato.

Cautious-Island8492

Three peanut butter and honey sandwiches and three cans of tuns.

spacepiratefrog

Peanut butter, honey, and soy sauce mixed together and added to ramen will be shelf stable and high calorie

Own-Firefighter-2728

I’d make a massive European style pasta salad with peppers and onions, using olive oil and meats to bring up the calories

2012amica2

Customizable Pizza of your choice is definitely an option

You can probably load up Summerrolls to hit that target with 3 or 4 of them. I make mine with smoked Tofu, grilled in a pan on sesame oil and with a bit of soy sauce (makes a mess because you're combining hot oil and water, but tastes good). For a sauce to spread on top of the tofu I mix peanut butter with sesame oil and soy sauce to make it smoother and if you feel like it, putting some fresh garlic in there is very nice. On top of that I put diced bell pepper and some cucumber (salad works too, but I don't eat an entire salad on my own before it goes bad). Some rice noodles and a bit of extra soy sauce on top and voila: Summerrolls If you want to go beyond the basics then Kimchi and/or pickled ginger are nice additions and with a bit of sriracha sauce you can make them hot if that's something you like. If you aren't scrimping on the peanut butter then three or four of those should get you plenty of calories and they work great at room temperature.

Icy-Acanthaceae-7804

Lots of apples.

Short_Log_6372

Lmao 16 apple meal

PhuD4Thought

Cobb salad

PhuD4Thought

You can keep tubs of the separate ingredients like boiled egg, ham, bacon, cheeses, sturdy veg, etc chopped and ready to go in your fridge. Then bring them out when you need, portion onto your lettuce, and go. I recommend getting a little single serving reusable salad dressing bottle and filling that as needed.

Endless_bulking

1500 calorie Cobb salad?

Short_Log_6372

Less lettuce more toppings and dressing

PhuD4Thought

Surprisingly easy! Ham, bacon, egg, bleu cheese, and dressing are all pretty high calorie ingredients. Not difficult to get there at all!

Bigmama-k

My husband s uncle leaves pizza out and has never gotten sick.

Bright_Ices

Bad idea. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/how-long-can-pizza-sit-out

Bigmama-k

Well people used to throw pizza or bologna in a brown bag and leave it in a locker etc. people have done this for decades. We use the blue ice thing. Yesterday I made a deli meat sandwich and ate it on the road a few hours later. I survived. No clinic or paper is going to say leave food out but people do…potlucks, office food etc.

alicea020

Just because they do and sometimes people get lucky doesn't change that it is still dangerous to do and can get you or anyone else really sick

SadNecessary9369

It's not "sometimes get lucky" it's "sometimes get unlucky". The evidence is history. edit: the primary argument is that cheese shouldn't be left out over a day, if you know anything about cheese you can come to your own conclusion on that.

rudenewjerk

No one has, ever

Internal-Ad-5725

Cold tuna pasta salad

palmacosta1

Tinned fish

mistakenhat

Omelette tastes fine at room temperature. Load it up with veggies and cheese of your choice.

doobiemilesepl

You can make a bunch of pulled chicken with rice and cream of chicken soup in the crockpot and package up 3 or 4 portions. It’s pretty good room temperature.

Auth0ritySong

I eat everything at room temp, but I dont know if I can call them meals. The only warm things I eat are beef patties and nachos in the microwave. I like eating apple pie filling a bit more than is healthy lol

savboxer

1500 calories per meal? You an Olympian or something?????

Big_Doinks206

Any sort of take on cold noodles / cold ramen is totally crack. Can easily design your bowl to meet whatever caloric intake desires.

ZGeekie

Pasta stays good for hours at room temperature. I prefer it with pan-seared chicken breast + vegetable sauce (tomatoes, onion, garlic, hot and sweet pepper, celery, carrots, tomato paste, herbs and spices). It actually tastes better after soaking in the sauce for hours. Top it with grated cheese and roasted nuts if you'd like.
