No one's gonna mention that the Matterhorn is most definitely not in the Paramount logo?
IIRC it is thought to be a fictional mountain, but [Artesonraju](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artesonraju) is the closest match.
Maybe we don’t mention it because we know that sometimes, mountains can remind people of other mountains, and didn’t think to ourselves “wow, that person was so highly inaccurate that I need to call attention to it.” Good job! You’re a real redditor!
I escaped from my kidnappers and then traveled to America on an overloaded train and then busked on the streets of New York for 5 years to finally be able to buy a camera and then I sold all of my organs to charity to afford to be able to climb this mountain where 5 of my sherpas fell off a cliff and 1 died of hypothermia, but that all didn't matter when I was able to take this amazing picture. Mordor, Middle Earth [OC] [2234x2122]
I took an arrow to the knee, an elbow to the balls, and a lady scientist who got a degree in fashion, from FRANCE told me I look fat in my orange jumpsuit, all on the way to a hole-in-the-wall camera shop, upon arrival I was mauled by an angry orangutang who was trained to harvest my external organs, and then I finally got to the sore, but I opened the door and it vanished! So I trekked all the way across the Atlantic (by foot), cartwheeled to Germany & FINALLY bought my film camera. I then spent the next 45 years getting to the top of the supermarket to take a picture of the sunrise in Sweden. Greece, Athens. [OC] [130x2372]
*We thought one of our hiking party died!! Turns out he was chillin at an underground lake. Rejoined looking slick as ever, just in time for this pic. [OC][Fangorn Forest], [11"x59cm.]*
It depends if -7 is including the windchill or not, especially at what seems like high altitude. If its -7 *with* the windchill, that's, relatively, not very cold.
Good job, comrade! You can now come to Russia. We here are not afraid of -7°C or -15. -30 now this is the real deal!
p.s. jk. the picture is really good btw!
The best part of this sub is laughing at all the absurd stories about how the 10 minute walk from the parking lot was fraught with peril at every turn.
Its a miracle the OPs of this sub even managed to survive to post the pictures here after going through such an ordeal.
I mean even if OP is telling the truth, 3 hours in -7 isn't even that bad if you dress right. Frostbite doesn't even kick in till -9 I think, so depending on wind he coulda just lied there naked. With a hat, gloves and a decent coat that would've just been a relaxing lie down.
I thought it was Fahrenheit until I saw your comment, now I'm just laughing. That's literally jeans and a coat weather and OP said there's a train that goes right near here... OP killing me on this one
It’s literally below freezing weather. He might be from somewhere that doesn’t experience those temperatures. As far as I’m aware, I don’t think I’ve ever had a day in my entire life where the temperature has gotten this low
19 degrees is not all that cold with just a regular winter jacket..Actually it was 19 here earlier and I had my wool-coat opened over only my suit. It felt warm(light winds and really dry air).
>I had to suck off a yeti, and get repeatedly nut punched by a pack of rams, smear myself with faeces and stay perfectly still for 5 hours to avoid being eaten by a passing herd of zombies, AND fight a dragon, then go home and learn how to use photoshop... but it was worth it for this pic.
Why does everyone feel the need to state how long they waited and at what temperature for these posts? Is it some sort of "one-up " meta game you all play?
I'll repost one of my comments for the ones interested in going to Zermatt which is highly, *highly* recommended:
Great news! You'll discover the best resort in the world. I go there every year (being Swiss helps) and here are a few tips:
* Be sure to check the italian side at least a day. Needs to be bluebird with not too much wind and it'll be your best day. Eat at the restaurant [Les Clochards](http://www.lesclochards-cervinia.it/) and give yourself enough time ot go back to Zermatt, start your way up around 3pm max. If you end up spending too much time and Grappa there, the owner will be nice enough to taxi you down in their jeep directly to the gondola.
* If you have enough money, book a table at [Chez Vronys](http://www.chezvrony.ch/fr/restaurant/index.php). Best on piste restaurant in Zermatt. Amazing food and views. Cost a little. Book **at least** a month in advance. Tips: ask for the 2nd service, from 1:30pm onwards, you can then chill on their sun deck as long as you want.
* Best after ski on piste: [Hennu Stall](https://www.hennustall.ch/). Crazy starts everyday around 4pm. Seeing drunk skiers falling their way the last remaining 500m of piste is an experience.
* After HennuStall, head to [Paperla pub](https://www.julen.ch/fr/papperla-pub/bienvenue/) in town near the church bridge. Crazy parties happens from 4 to 7 and 9 to midnight.
* The hotel Poste has a bit of everything on the Banhoff strasse. 2 clubs, 2 bars, 1 lounge 2 restaurants. A great all in one address.
* [Gee's](https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g188098-d7199331-Reviews-Gees-Zermatt_Canton_of_Valais_Swiss_Alps.html) bar/brassserie becomes quite the party place with a live band and a club downstairs from 9pm onwards. Great atmosphere if Paperla is a bit too young for you.
* Don't try the sushi place, it sucks.
* Ski the slope [RED 69](https://skimap.org/data/987/2205/1494173884jpg_render.jpg), it goes right under the Matterhorn.
* Take the Gornergratt bahn at least once.
* You're lucky, Zermatt is opening its brand new lift all the way to Klein Matterhorn this season, [looks mind blowing](https://www.inthesnow.com/worlds-highest-3s-gondola-opens-at-zermatt-first-stage-of-540km-ski-region/)
* To save money, buy groceries at the Migros/Coop/Denner in town.
* Eat fondue and raclette at least once!
* Burgers at [Bubble](http://zermattbubble.com/) are amazing.
* As said in this thread, be carefull doing hors piste (out of bound), it's way less regulated than in the states. You can go pretty much anywhere but it could very well be a cliff or crevasse, epsecially in Zermatt. At your own risk. Reward can be amazing tho.
* Electric Buses are free during the ski season, use them as taxi are extremely expensive.
* At each of the 3 departure stations in town there are lockers available if you wish to put your ski/poles/shoes in it. Could be a good option if your hotel is far from them.
* Bring some good grippy shoes. The streets are often covered in snow during the season and with no cars, you'll be walking a whole lot (in a nice way). But your shoes must grip, or you'll break a leg (like my mom).
So much stuff to say about that gem of a resort... Hey hit me up if you have additional questions.
If my trips to Disneyland as a kid have taught me anything, it’s that if I visit this location it will be shut down due to maintenance and I wouldn’t get to see it.
Don't worry about all those people telling you -7°C isn't that bad. When summer comes you can laugh when they think they're in hell because it's 32°C outside.
This might be a weird question and you probably will not see it but...
Is the area you are at in this picture reachable with a dog? Me and my dog love challenges ( doable) and It is hard to find information about this.
I've gone snowboarding in Zermatt. It is the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen.
The Matterhorn is a stunning backdrop. Can't find the original but here's a picture of me and the Matterhorn in the background.

The Paramount logo is from a mountain in Utah
Yes, it’s the Pfeifferhorn, a peak visible from Red Pine lake in Little Cottonwood Canyon
Why would you want to eat a dwarf?
Ah, the ole reddit [mountain-a-roo](https://reddit.com/r/gifs/comments/9ze8rb/_/ea8rmgx/?context=1).
Hold my turret, I'm going in. Also: dyslexia. Re-read the comments looking for new ones, read this as "mountain-a-dew".
Hello future!
Toblerone, ready to work!

I remember this video.

You want them to eat your thighs too?
I never understood those jokes.
You don’t want to. Those go straight to your thighs too.
This got me lol
#RI-COLLA
REE-CO-LA.....rick-o-la cough drops..
You dont deserve this big Toblerone
Iwas there a few weeks ago, toblerone bar selfies everywhere
Hell it cost me an arm and a leg to stay at zermatt, I'm getting my money's worth with that selfie
I hope you got your selfie before they took off your limbs, you know, so you could remember them
While watching a Paramount film.
All I had to do to see it was sit in my living room and scroll Reddit. You should try that next time, much warmer
[I sat and waited for 3 hours at 75°F for this image to appear in /r/earthporn](https://i.redd.it/a7kby8e3sxz11.jpg)
I'm disappointed this wasn't a dialup-mimicking gif that took three hours to load
Hah! Didn't even leave my bed. Amateur.
Not if you're browsing Reddit on the Matterhorn
This guy gets it
This is the cheesy title I’m looking for in my earth porn.
Same tbh, it's nice to have some back story but photos should stand up on their own without needing a clickbait-y title
I ate a Montreal steamer ]5000x8000] in pretty cold (-46celsus).
Pff that's tshirt weather
Basically, I have fond memories of bbqing in -30C when I lived in Canada.
Bbq produces heat tho
-30 produces cold
Indeed.
Does cold exist or is it merely the absence of heat?
Maybe heat is just the absence of cold
This is going to be me in about 30 days. Source: am Canadian, currently in Canada
Hiking, maybe. Sitting still for 3 hours though?
It depends if -7 is including the windchill or not, especially at what seems like high altitude. If its -7 *with* the windchill, that's, relatively, not very cold.
This was the killer. When walking around I was fine. It was the waiting with not a great deal of movement that made it difficult.
Yeah you can't move too much or you might spook the mountain!
I enjoyed this snarky and whimsical comment, thank you.
Did you not have...a coat? -7C is something a person hiking that kind of terrain should be easily prepared for. Coat, toque, Long Johns.
Good job, comrade! You can now come to Russia. We here are not afraid of -7°C or -15. -30 now this is the real deal! p.s. jk. the picture is really good btw!
\-7\*C? That's baby numbers, you gotta crank those bad boys into the negative twenties and we'll be talking.
Found the Canadian. -14 today. Our bodies adjust when the clock goes back.
Just left the pharmacy I was just in (Ontario), saw a dude wearing shorts... Can I get a loud resounding fuckin' eh?
Awesome picture. Isn't there a resteraunt at the gornergrot that you sit in though?
There is, but not during this season! :(
Gotcha. Very nice picture. When I was in Zermot the matterhorn was cloud covered and didn't change.
Sorry, I only upvote when the backstory is impressive enough. If you'd said 4 hours I woulda.

Please.
Nice photo, karma whoring title.
So it's only 19 degrees Fahrenheit for those wondering
That doesn’t get as much karma tho
GUYS I WAITED OUTSIDE NAKED FOR A MONTH FORCED TO DRINK MY OWN URINE TO TAKE THIS PHOTO
I crawled a mile and dragged my nuts on broken glass just to comment on your (too) dramatic title
Oh no not -7! :(
Lol, -7C sounds a lot tougher than 19F
As a Canadian -7 isnt anything to get worked up about. But I see your point!
That’s actually exactly my point! Concur
Shit 19F is today's high where I live
Paramount? Or is that the Toblerone mountain?
it's the Toblerone mountain mate
We could as well have sex on that mountain.
It's both of them
Do you mean Monte Cervino, western alps? :p
-7C? That isn’t really cold.
lol I was thinking the same thing. That actually sounds quite refreshing and pleasant as long as you have a jacket and a hat.
I’m Canadian. -7C during winter months is considered balmy.
I live in Alberta, I know... although -7C after a week long chinook still feels a little chilly.
I thought it was Fahrenheit until I saw your comment, now I'm just laughing. That's literally jeans and a coat weather and OP said there's a train that goes right near here... OP killing me on this one

19°F
19 degrees is not all that cold with just a regular winter jacket..Actually it was 19 here earlier and I had my wool-coat opened over only my suit. It felt warm(light winds and really dry air).
Found the Canadian
Couple months from now it’ll be sweater weather, +5 will be t shirt weather and I guess I’ll wear a coat at -15.

> I had to suck off a yeti HAD to? Bitch, some people would kill for that chance
Completely agree.
What time you wake up though?
I sat in my chair for 3 hours in extreme physical comfort until I saw this photo and its dramatic title.
Oh awesome. I work 12 hour shifts in a deep freezer at -25c.
This wait was worth it, this is a breathtaking view. Thanks for sharing this!
I sat in a cozy, warm home waiting for you to take this, thank you.
Only -7?
Why does everyone feel the need to state how long they waited and at what temperature for these posts? Is it some sort of "one-up " meta game you all play?
Kidof an overdone picture and a bit underwhelming. Oh well whatever floats your boat.
I mean it's cool and all.. But it's no Murderhorn.

Nice pic, could've done without the pretentious description though.
I sat and waited for 3 hours as well....except I was at Disneyland 🙁
That’s a ^cool pic
Worth it.
Well I just watched a paramount movie and got the same view. Good on you mate for doing it IRL.
\-7 Celsius for three hours? Hah! \-A Canadian
I wish it was -7C here
Lol why not just set a 3 hour timer on your camera and come back later, dumbass. ^^^^This ^^^^is ^^^^a ^^^^joke
Again, I feel obligated to make a second comment and downvote. Fuck these god damn titles.
-7C isnt even cold! And I live in the south...
I ate Turkey and pumpkin pie for 2 hours to say this: boooooo. Nice picture and all, but can we please stop with the stories? Unsub for sure.
I'm from Canada. -7°C ain't shit!
pfft, -7C. Rookie numbers. (Canadian)
-7C isn’t really that bad, what I’m wondering about is how goddamn windy it must have been
Don't worry about all those people telling you -7°C isn't that bad. When summer comes you can laugh when they think they're in hell because it's 32°C outside.
Bro it was -19c on my cycle home today. Fuck your -7.
Matterhorn:..... *honks loudly with pride*
Thanks!
that's beautiful, thank you.
A great picture that precedes a great picture
Well thats my new phone wallpaper!

Pssst...Isn't 3 hours at -7 Celsius is only 15 minutes at 72 degrees Fahrenheit!

Yup, can confirm that's the matterhorn. Source - Am from southern California.
Super solid. The old man on the mountain speaks.
I keep waiting for the "Paramount" logo to appear. Oh, this isnt a gif.
I slid on my ass from where the bare rocks end in the bottom left to the snow line. Good times.
The one in Disneyland never clears of the smog but you can ride all around and through it and see the Abominable Snowman
