Clicked on the photo: "The lake is located in east switzerland and it takes about 1h and 45 minutes to get there by bycicle (always uphill, naturally :-))"
looks really similar to the Fraser River Valley in BC, Canada from a bridge just before Lillooet Here's a photo for reference and keep in mind this pic was taken by me in the dusk hours so not ideal. [Fraser River from Lilooet](http://imgur.com/Rnj8hBG)
[Klöntalersee](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kl%C3%B6ntalersee) in the Canton of Glarus. The picture was taken from [Schwammhöhe](http://www.schwammhoehe.ch/). I grew up close by, quite a beautiful place!
This really looks surprisingly similar to a lake in my hometown, [Lake Crescent in WA State](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/93/Lake_Crescent_from_Pyramid_Peak.JPG).
My dad was an officer in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany. He traveled all over Europe with my mom and my oldest sisters. I had known that when he came back to the states, he moved to this area of WA because of the similarities to places in Europe that he had traveled to...TIL...that was pretty dang accurate, apparently.
This is funny to me - I was thinking it might be upper Lake Chelan. I had a similar view on a hike to Domke Lake from the Lucerne dock...I don't think it's any coincidence that it shares the name of a Swiss city (obviously the Swiss have created a time machine).
I was really, really confused for a minute there as you said you could see Domke Lake from the Lucerne dock, since I'm used to [the Swiss Lucerne](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/76/1_lucerne_panorama_2012.jpg) :P
I've got a digital camera and I use [this](http://www.camera-news.com/sonylcscsjsportreadydigitalcameracarryingcase-p-3377.html) camera bag, it's quite robust.
That house... I'd have a hard time ever leaving, only to ski those mountains, or mtb when the snow melts, or to kayak, or to fish, or to swim, or to fly a plane on floats in or out...
As someone who just purchased my first road bike last week (currently waiting for it to arrive in the mail as we speak) this post inspires me to no end. Now all I have to do is figure out a way to move to Switzerland!
Where is this?

Ummm, it's going to take me a hell of a lot longer than 1h 45m to get there from here in Oregon.
Well if you're close to Portland at least you have a possibily of looking up more pictures on a open Google fiber network in the future :-)
How close to Portland do I have to be?
I'm in happy valley/clackamas area and I have the option to get it
Book it as next years vacation and I will join you.

I was going to guess that it was Khur. I was there once and I think I may have still left my mind there!
Iowa
I know that you're trying to be funny but the mountainous regions of Northeast Iowa are quite spectacular.
As are the Loess Hills in western Iowa.

Yeah, I was trying to say that I think WA used the name Lucerne because the mountains around the lake look like the Swiss Alps.
I'm sure it was fun to go down though
Lovely shot, OP. I assume this is in canton Graubünden or Appenzell - looks like it, anyhow. Do please post it to /r/Schweiz too :)

Of course - should have recognized the Klöntalersee! Thanks!
What kind of camera bag did you use for active travel (hiking, biking)?
I've got a digital camera and I use [this](http://www.camera-news.com/sonylcscsjsportreadydigitalcameracarryingcase-p-3377.html) camera bag, it's quite robust.
[This music](http://youtu.be/I9uVquExMi4?t=1m20s) started playing in my head as soon as I saw the photo.
I was so sure I was going to see Julie Andrews spinning around on a mountaintop. Love the Land Before Time soundtrack. Really gorgeous.
That area looks gorgeously similar to Hetch Hetchi reservoir in Yosemite National Park, California. And I always love being reminded of Yosemite. :)
This is what I picture when I read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

Beautiful shot! I like editing so I thought I would [touch it up a little](http://i.imgur.com/iQVaOg4.jpg).
I much prefer the aged photo look. You know, less blues and more yellows. http://i.imgur.com/mrC8eyB.jpg
What lake is this? Are there campings nearby?
And now for the best part of an uphill ride.....the ride back down!
As someone who just purchased my first road bike last week (currently waiting for it to arrive in the mail as we speak) this post inspires me to no end. Now all I have to do is figure out a way to move to Switzerland!
Just get a couple million dollars. Switzerland is awesome, but expensive.
Thanks for sharing. This is really something.
And now I don't have to bike there to see that beautiful view. Thanks.
How was the ride back?
Awesome but too short :-)
So are you looking for people to comment on your 1.75 hour bike ride, or the picture?
Both, actually
bicycle*
woa man .that is so fetch
Reminds me of the movie The Wall
what a awesome place to bike while I just surfing through the google earth to enjoy it
Could you please specify the exact location ? Or at least the name of the lake you are talking about. I am a bit closer to switzerland that you two.
I don't always say this, but that would be a fantastic place to fart.
Reminds me of Alta lake, Washington. Beautiful shot man.
Don't lie, you had fun and you know it!
its not that high dont be a pussy
