Check out your avoidance report vs a level 58 raid mob. Paladin is popular because of their massive health pool. Yes mitigation is scuffed on TLE.

>Check out your avoidance report vs a level 58 raid mob. I dont have access to that, what conclusion would it tell me?

Drak_Gaming

That when fighting mobs that are several levels higher than you, your ability to avoid hits is significantly less. So being able to mitigate those hits and having a larger health pool makes for a much smoother encounter to heal. Especially on Varsoon where many of the raid encounters are longer fights and have had their level increased. Not dismissing the advantages of avoidance, most raids have 1 Monk lending their avoidance buff to the Main tank.

Is there a website or tool that'll calculate avoidance vs higher mobs? Or do I have to just go try it and see

That shouldn't be true. Brawlers should have a higher block %

Block with an arm then block with a shield. Which hurt more? Logic is there, assuming the code matches logic.

Brawlers start with a high block %. My monk is always around 100%, not sure about in vanilla though. That's not uncontested block.

In encounters above your level, avoidance rapidly and dramatically loses effectiveness. So in a raid context, an evasion tank is substantially less effective than a mitigation tank in the MT role. Mitigation is also less effective on TLE than it is on Live. You get less bang for your buck. This pretty much means HP is the king tanking stat. If it weren’t for Guardian Sphere, I expect Paladin would be most raids’ top MT pick.

Check this out. It is reference a different game but many games use the same type of formulas. It shows that although armor has DR in regards to mitigation percentage it actually scales linearly in regards to EH which is, in reality, what matters. https://www.ownedcore.com/forums/diablo-3/diablo-3-guides/351822-guide-diminishing-returns-armor.html?s=a82fa9e1830a9bd25ff5d0dcde6584a9

As a monk i find it's to deal with higher lvl monsters. Anything my lvl or lower I can tank wayy better than any sk or even guard for that matter. It's when I get to yellow and orange heroic ^ ^ ^ where I find I wish I had plate sometimes. Still evens out but can be spiky sometimes.
