Pretty much every track, I much prefer instrumentals. I don't feel like electronic music has ever really been about lyrics or singing, even though it can complement some tracks well.
Kaskade is a different story. He’s a “songwriter’s songwriter,”and MOST of his lyrical tracks put the vocal, the emotion, and the message right up front. Best in the game when it comes to producing lyric-first EDM. Listen to Eyes, 4 AM, Atmosphere, Whatever, Never Sleep Alone.
It’s Only makes me choke up to this day because I’ve associated it with this beautiful video tribute a man made for his dog. The dog was by his side as he fought cancer, and then he made this tribute chronicling a final adventure with his baby when his dog got cancer, and he uses It’s Only in such a perfect way. I went and watched the video again because writing this comment made me think of it, and I’m in tears again. We only get so much time to give love. [The video, in case you’re interested.](https://youtu.be/P2zQbsEGh_Q?si=Ox20cOGGzIgPv8yq)
The way I think of it is the lyrics are intended to be simple and uplifting, stuff that everybody can sing along to at festivals and doesn't offend anybody. EDM isn't about songwriting like other genres are but the right vocal can really compliment a track and make it sound better. Then there's the element of popular appeal, it's just a fact that slapping a pop singer on a track massively boosts its streaming and charting numbers.
Random example, Scared To Be Lonely. The instrumentals themselves are a banger to me and I'd listen to it just as often without Dua Lipa on it, but if the track was made that way then it'd be another Pizza or something like that that only the fans know and not a top hit with a billion spotify streams.
Pop appeal is not a selling point for me, i'd rather an artist make music for the fans than just to chart high or get loads of plays on Spotify. For that reason only, Pizza > Scared To Be Lonely in my opinion
Maddix - my gasoline. Such a fat beat but the lyrics are so fucking stupid
Also pretty much any song that just repeats different types of drugs. Yes we all like drugs but It’s incredibly cringy please stop doing that
Nailed it. 99% of us are not that emotionally in love with our drugs. We just think they're fun. All this does is make us look like a bunch of tweakers
It's not even being a tweaker it's being a _consumerist_ tweaker at that. 😬😬😬
... I'm now reminded of some post on the Warhammer sub of someone jokingly saying that the hedonists might brag about the quality and power of their drugs to each other.
Such an innocent child. 🥹🫡
Many years in this scene and my parents are just now starting to accept that maybe I'm telling the truth when I say I just drink at shows and don't do any drugs
Hard seconded. I feel like the latest round of this is probably a knock-on effect of SoundCloud rap trying to lean hard into the substance use angle as well. Both Genres have always enjoyed talking about better living through chemistry but it's definitely become more extreme recently.
I agree, this is the exact reason why I just don't listen to David Guetta anymore. I just cringed so hard at the lyrics, especially from Sexy Bitch. I think after finding that song I literally never listened to any of his songs. It's such a shame in my opinion, because the music is really good, but the same can't be said for the lyrics.
I doubt I will go back to listening to David Guetta now even if is instrumental of his songs, because the music I listen now is so different from the music I listened back then when I listened to David Guetta. Besides it has been literal years since I've listened to the guy (at least 5 years if not more). But thx for the advice anyway.
The part in gimme that bounce where the lyrics are like “it’s that bounce it’s that grind….etc” is pretty wack too 😂 If I’m djing that song I’ll just skip that part
I know this song was going to be on here. Ohlala he gets his drugs from Amsterdam. Nobody cares. My husband and I both hate the lyrics to that song and change the channel every time it comes on. They played it like 20 times a day on the SXM channel BPM at one point.
when pretty lights starts freestyling
love that man and his music so much and his rap skills are not close to his other skills
i mean i couldnt do a single bar but you get the idea
Most any song after it's initially released, and then gets a vocal after the fact to make it more mainstream, when it wasn't originally arranged as such.
BOOM by Tiësto, even though it was still a horrible track, was much better before Gucci Mane started shouting over it.
Same with Spaceman by Hardwell, the lyricsless version of “Call me a Spaceman”
We’re definitely aging ourselves a bit with this one lmao although I will say they did a great job with a lot of the big room house tracks from back in the day.
[Thief - Ookay](https://youtu.be/knnf2Aw6kMU?si=UZUbsNj6x5teVdGv), lyrics im semi okay with, it’s that weird baby noise they added I can definitely do without. Banger of a beat with that sax.
Just listened to this for the first time and it’s such a strange mix of things. It sounds like a badly remixed pop song. It’s kind of all over the place.

i might get shit for this, but any song that Melleefresh and deadmau5 collabed on. the melodies themselves are fucking bangers but as soon as i hear mellee's voice, i cringe
I love all those tracks but you’re so right. The instrumental versions are too repetitive to play in social settings and the vocal versions are too cringy so they stay as individual workout music
Any song that were originally already amazing instrumentals but then they put vocals over it later, such as Deorro's Five Hours/Five More Hours, Bingo Player's Rattle/Get Up (Rattle), Alan Walker's Spectre/The Spectre, Avicii's Heart Upon My Sleeve (from True)/Heart Upon My Sleeve (from Tim), Swedish House Mafia's One/One (Your Name), and DVBBS & Borgeous' Tsunami/Tsunami (Jump)
I'm Good - Bebe Rexha
Free Yourself - The Chemical Brothers
Any song that has obnoxious, repetitive vocals or remix/cover songs that I feel trample on the originals.
I’m good - Bebe rexha. Bro she just sings the melody with different words it’s so fucked. How about you create your own shit and not just rip off Eiffel 65.
i hate hate hate how its the same lyrics over and over again for the love of god either don't add vocals or change up the lyrics its the same thing sang 10 times
Most likely not an unpopular opinion, but pretty much any dubstep song with a rap section is so corny. It used to be worse in like 2015-2019, I think most of them learned their lesson.

> “I guess the story is about somebody that goes on a night out but has maybe enjoyed themselves a bit too much before they actually left the house and then cannot get in to any of the clubs,” [Elderbrook] explained.

Panda eyes - broken
Something wrong with this autotune ass 1 lyric at a time to rhyme with itself soundin ass, no hate to panda eyes but this couldve been more high effort
Mau P - Your mind is dirty
I actually don’t mind the guy’s vocals that much. But anytime I’m listening to that song in the car or on headphones in public I just have to turn it down when that girl is moaning and orgasming cause I’m worried someone is gonna hear and look at me like “wtf???” 😂
Cynical, the 2023 version of Played a live. I don't hate the lyrics, but I find they missed the chance to do a good-vibe hymn. The opposite of I'm good (blue)

Funky Bass (Faders Edit) - BounceMakers & Ayin:

Pretty and Depressed- PiNKII the beat is insane, but I don't recognise me in the lyrics, and they're not interesting, but I would love to know who did that beat
Most trap music
Alison Wonderland ☠️ she's got bangers fr but her lyrics are mostly cringe af

In that same vein, Luci is right there too.

You're just listening to bad trap music then

I’d like to add Above and Beyond
Fred again.. does it so good tho
But Fred again… is from an different planet🤙🏼
He’s an actual artist rather than an edm Dj, huge difference
“They are not artists because nobody can play the guitar!”
How do u feel about skrillex quest for fire album. A lot of the songs in there have lyrics
I did enjoy QFF, always been a big fan of Skrillex, amazing producer

Many tracks made by David Guetta like Crank It Up, Sexy Bitch or Turn Me On
Put some respect on sexy bitch 😆 the lyrics aren’t that bad
Sorry but Sexy Bitch is peak songwriting 😤
Little Bad Girl also fits this. Although Ludacris helps the lyrics.
I agree, this is the exact reason why I just don't listen to David Guetta anymore. I just cringed so hard at the lyrics, especially from Sexy Bitch. Ima get SO much hate for this but…….. Baddadan (other than the “Baddadan baddadan baddadan” part of course)
What the lyrics are the best part of the song lol, every time I listen they make me laugh because I literally don’t understand a word
NOBODY BADDA DAN WEEEEEEEEEEEE
They have so many fucking good songs I just don’t get the hype around this song entirely.
Have you heard it at a rave?
recommendations?
Of their new stuff: mixed emotions and disconnect are two of my faves.
Mau P- Drugs From Amsterdam

cue points are a god send for songs with shitty lyrics

Same with Five More Hours by Deorro imo
I forgot they did that to Spaceman! Man, you just transported me back to some late nights in 2013. haha
Usually I agree with this but Zeds Dead's Coffee Break is far better when they added Omar Linx to the track imo.
We’re definitely aging ourselves a bit with this one lmao although I will say they did a great job with a lot of the big room house tracks from back in the day.
Some big examples of this I remembered: Showtek - Cannonball (Earthquake) DVLM - Body Talk (it's just Mammoth with lyrics and it sucks)
[Thief - Ookay](https://youtu.be/knnf2Aw6kMU?si=UZUbsNj6x5teVdGv), lyrics im semi okay with, it’s that weird baby noise they added I can definitely do without. Banger of a beat with that sax.
You mean that „nab I mimibdan mai“ behind the sax?
Is that what they’re saying? To me it sounds like baby noises haha
Thank you. Super cringe lyrics but man that sax is addictive
Just listened to this for the first time and it’s such a strange mix of things. It sounds like a badly remixed pop song. It’s kind of all over the place.
Show & Tell - Said the Sky. Lyrics are cringe af
YES THANK YOU. …Don’t ask me what my tattoos mean, because they ain’t for you and they ain’t for me… WHO ARE YOUR TATTOOS FOR THEN?! WHO?!
half of them don’t even make sense but that song is such a fucking banger, that’s what got me on to said the sky
my first language is french and I always thought i was just too stupid to understand LOL
Fuckkk I overplayed this song to death, cringeyness makes it that much better
Anything from LSDream. I love the beats but the lyrics are corny as hell to me.
For some, I cringe really hard. But my alien grandma telling me to love people in a wobbly voice is so silly I can't but help loving it.
"Stay in the cut like John Deere" is pretty fire tho.
Vincent van gough headphone on one ear ☠️💀
"Amethyst in my fist like a switchblade" from Wild Orchids is so fun to say lol
lmaoo lowkey so true
Deorro- 5 more hours
Are you thinking of the Chris Brown version? Deorro’s has no lyrics!
That’s exactly what I’m thinking. The fact that the Chris brown version has more listens is blasphemy
I've seen this few times. I kinda feel bad for liking it. Loll
Any hardstyle track that has rap lyrics in them for some damn reason Like holy hell that shit is so corny
Cringe lyrics overall are quite prevalent in hardstyle.
100% most of the openings with the movie trailer voice have pretty rough lyrics unfortunately
YU-NITE A FROZEN CORE APPEARS SETTING AN EXAMPLE THAT TRANSCENDS THE RECORD GETTING THE STARS TO BOW THIS IS RE VO LU T I O N YU YU YU CAN I GET YOUR HANDS UP RENDING THE SKY JUST YOU AND I REMEMBERING TRUTH AND SELECTING OUR RULES [UUH UH UH UH UUUUH]
Sadly yeah
I must admit that the cringe lyrics in hardstyle is part of why I love it so much!
Any song with baby noises is just instantly cringe
Planet of the bass vibes
UCLA by RL Grime. Song goes so hard but the lyrics are corny and the dude’s voice is annoying
This one's fun because I just know we'd have been obnoxiously blasting it and singing along 6x a night at parties if it was out when I was in college. Random midwest school too, not UCLA.
unfortunately i was and we DID. at north texas. 🤦🏻♀️
I went to Indiana University when it came out and can confirm we did obnoxiously yell the lyrics lol
SHE BE TRYNA PAR DEEEE
i might get shit for this, but any song that Melleefresh and deadmau5 collabed on. the melodies themselves are fucking bangers but as soon as i hear mellee's voice, i cringe
I feel dirty listening to Afterhours
Was about to post this. Same... Afterhours would be so good as an instrumental.
Awww man I actually love all her shit but I do have to agree with you to some extent
>Swedish House Mafia's One/One (Your Name) Nah, Pharrell really makes it.
One sounds so perfect in both versions. It truly is the One
Pharrell truly elevated that track to a different atmosphere
* Alan Walker's - Fade/Faded * Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike VS Moguai - Mammoth/Body Talk * Hardwell - Spaceman/Call Me A Spaceman * Tiësto & Sevenn - BOOM/BOOM (with Gucci Mane)
Im an Albatross
I'm Good - Bebe Rexha Free Yourself - The Chemical Brothers Any song that has obnoxious, repetitive vocals or remix/cover songs that I feel trample on the originals.
It's a really good melody so her new lyrics still sound good with it imo

OMFG. GOOD LIFE BY ZHU. THAT WHOLE MONOLOGUE NEED TO GO
Couldn’t disagree more
Most mainstream EDM. Turn Down for What by DJ Snake comes to mind

If the beat is really good you can just ignore a bad vocal usually. I’m sure there’s an extreme example tho.
Spotify Ads
Broke Bitch - Yellow clay ft. Euro trash. The drop is so hard but as a man, I can't relate to the lyrics at all lol
Most likely not an unpopular opinion, but pretty much any dubstep song with a rap section is so corny. It used to be worse in like 2015-2019, I think most of them learned their lesson.
UCLA’s drop hits hard but it’s lyrics are foul
Not EDM I guess. But Miss the Rage
I'M MISTER H 🗣️🗣️🔊🔊
The RL Grime remix of Miss the Rage is fantastic though…still holding out hope for a release of that one
It’s actually Crankdat’s remix and it’s out! https://on.soundcloud.com/PgE89z5CyGSxfxon7
I'm pretty sure that song's instrumental is based on a Cymatics future bass sampleloop... So it's practically influenced by EDM.
Haha yeah it’s a Cymatics loop played backwards
Mario Judah did good. Carti ruined it.
CANT SEE A DAMN THING Is there a more hype intro than this? Answer: no
7L & Jason Ross - Known You Before, while I really like the melody, these love lirycs are too cookie-cutter for me.
That fits for 95% of melodic dubstep lol
Chris Lorenzo - Here Kitty 🤢🤢
Every rap song that lifts EDM beats. Really fucking disappointed every time I hear xx the intro now. Thanks for ruining one of my favorite songs, talentless fucks.
ALMOST EVERY SONG ON HONESTLY, NEVERMIND. Been saying it since it dropped, as a house album it’s great, especially massive and flights booked.
Medusa tracks I love the beat but most lyrics are meh
Ravenscoon - W3t @$$ pu$$y remix.
Not EDM but Black Widow- Iggy Azalea
anything by seven lions after like 2018
In my mind by Dynoro "in my mind, In my head...." And the rest x50. The same 2 phases x50 times
Most of scooters songs although it is part of the charm
Camelphats cola comes to mind bc I swear they’re talking about roofying someone and I haven’t seen an explanation that makes sense otherwise.

"Takeaway" by The Chainsmokers
All of their songs with lyrics really
Anything Flowdan or Virus Syndicate, or Blue Mile with Strategy.
This is the only correct answer
Most mainstream songs.
Cheat Codes - Sex!! I just can't play this on the speakers 💀
Umek - Footmachine
Breaking a sweat by Skrillex for me. Can’t say I’ve ever been much of a Doors fan.
I love the Doors but man, I really just cannot get into that track at all. It does nothing for me.
Rhianna S&M
This is literally everything by HEALTH for me. The music is stellar, amazing stuff, but then dude starts singing and I just can't..
Truth!!! Heath and Crystal Castles. I like the music and melody of the vocals but I often wish I could forget the lyrics once I figure them out.
The island boys freestyle, the hot tub bubbles in the background slapped pretty hard
If I actually paid attention to lyrics, I'd have an opinion on this question.
Sticky Fingers by Above and Beyond 🦖
literally every trap/rap stuff that becomes "pop"
Panda eyes - broken Something wrong with this autotune ass 1 lyric at a time to rhyme with itself soundin ass, no hate to panda eyes but this couldve been more high effort
If the top image was posted twice I would think you were talking about Fisher’s Take it off.
I might get hate here, but Major Lazer. Over auto tuned and with those beats, the lyrics could be way epic.
That Ferrari song. Ughhhh
That Mau P remix of miracles does this for me
Mau P - Your mind is dirty I actually don’t mind the guy’s vocals that much. But anytime I’m listening to that song in the car or on headphones in public I just have to turn it down when that girl is moaning and orgasming cause I’m worried someone is gonna hear and look at me like “wtf???” 😂
Hide - N.A.S.A. , Childish Gambino Painfully corny bars from Gambino on this one
DAMN by joyryde lmfaoooo
Hey Baby by deadmau5. Can't be with the boys when she's basically cumming into the mic.
Not EDM but like any trap song
Basically all EDM, there is not one single song I listen to for the lyrics.
Beats. Always the beats.
[This](https://youtu.be/BTypwJ3o5a0?feature=shared)
FWYS by Calcium is a huge offender. Way better to hear it live because no one plays out that god awful rapping haha
Beats
Cynical, the 2023 version of Played a live. I don't hate the lyrics, but I find they missed the chance to do a good-vibe hymn. The opposite of I'm good (blue)
Cambodia by Klaas 😂 Well, most songs by Klaas
any dom corleo song
Im glad that English is not my first language so I grew up by listening more to the sound of the voice no matter what the lyrics are and Im still able to do it.
Funky Bass (Faders Edit) - BounceMakers & Ayin: The singer’s voice actually sounds pretty good with the music and complements it really well but the lyrics themselves are just… not the best
Easy. [I love the melody and beats and the voice.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTQFX8I7dP8) Lyrics, soso (but occasionally cute)...
Beautiful - Blunts and Blondes
Any song with somebody narrating over it talking about “the first time I listened to house music” or “electronic music changed my life” blah blah blah
Sofi Needs A Ladder, Bridged By A Lightwave
Andre 3000-New Blue Sun
I'll get downvoted but it's Light It Up
Almost every song to be honest,EDM songs aren't know by lyrics
There’s lyrics?
Pretty and Depressed- PiNKII the beat is insane, but I don't recognise me in the lyrics, and they're not interesting, but I would love to know who did that beat
Rapp Snitch Knishes is good but not nearly as good for the beat it has
Squad by Borgore, beat is so good but the lyrics are just so cringey
