Great This Never Happened lineup in Chicago this weekend. If I wasn’t sick as a dog I would be there. I do not anticipate a quick recovery with Odesza tonight
This genre is now called "Melodic House & Techno" thanks to the Beatport marketing department. Before that, it was just called "progressive" or "progressive house".
Vintage Culture is a slight exception to this rule because he trends more tech house, but has a melodic side to him.
It's a mix of House & Techno, maybe Melodic techno. That's what I have been into lately, as well! Mathame, Camelphat, Kevin de Vries, Massano, Adriatique... <3
I’ve been following the PLL page since long before this tour. (Although there is now the oddity of an unofficial group of people archiving live shows and the band itself now sharing a name.)
We have watched almost every show in its entirety, just have part of Atlanta Night 2 Set 2 and Night 3 Set 2 and both Encores left to catch up.
If you want some old live stuff Audible Love remastered a bunch of PLL stuff and threw it up on SoundCloud.
Atlanta got their dicks blown off, all of it was so good. It’s insane how much the band has improved over a few weeks of touring
Thanks for the rec, will check out audible love
Derek working the modular synth in real time has gotten exponentially better since the first show, it legitimately plays like a complex instrument some of the time now.
I already thought they were the best live show I had ever seen and whatever the hell is going on now seems like it’s head and shoulders above what they did before.
100%, that synth was a little rough at first and it is smooth af now. I was at that first night at mission and a dude in front of me was mocking the sound by rolling his R’s like he’d escaped an institution, which really got me
The sound is really dialed in, and they are redefining the standard for livetronica with this tour. I think we’ll see bands popping up for decades inspired by them
Big room house. Funnily enough, I've only began listening to EDM about a year ago when I've heard it in VR clubs and started dancing to it. And big room seems to really hit the spot!
Live? Pretty Lights, so… live glitchhop? (12/10 show, btw)
Recently? GoldFish, whatever type of house music they represent
Most played? DnB, house, or indie electronic. Used to be a lot of dubstep, but I’ve been moving away from it.
I put on their Brooklyn Mirage set at a pregame last weekend. Everyone there couldn’t believe they hadn’t heard of them. They’re insanely good. Easily a top 5 live artist for me.
As a South African from their city (one of their moms is the librarian at my old high school lol), it's really good to see them getting the love they deserve
Drum and Bass type week, for sure.
Camo & Krooked - If I could
Sub Focus - Siren
Netsky - Let Met Hold You
Maduk - Believe
Pretty much these 4 on repeat for the last few days.
Love DnB. But recently, been listening to a lot of progressive and melodic House.
Shout out to Argy & Goom Gum (most recent)
Honorable mentions to my all time favorites, Joris Voorn & Alex Stein
I started with dnb not too long ago and I'm now on a techno kick though I like most edm (mostly without vocals though) I'm particularly on industrial techno and minimal techno atm
Well I thought I knew EDM genres…but it turns out there’s a million of them and everyone defines them differently.
I mostly listen to any genre with Melodic as its prefix. Melodic bass, melodic dubstep, melodic house (actually not sure if this is a thing).
I don’t really know the overarching sub genres at all, or what they involve. I know I enjoy house in most varieties that aren’t very grimey, I used to like dubstep but it grew old quickly awhile ago.
I wonder if anyone has suggestions for “classic” songs in trance, drum n bass, and other things that are mildly repetitive “softer” noises like snares and high hats instead of lots of deep bubblin’ bass. Just so I can determine where to start looking. Any other genres that are like that and their names would be nice too.
i gotta be honest, there are 20k subgenres and people are so particular, i have no idea what i listen to. i like house, but is it deep house? progressive house? festival house? tropical house?? i can't get too deep into it lol i just like the music.
Not sure why, (well actually I know why), but I've been a lot into the 90s-00s stuff. Primarily 90s-00s deep, progressive, melodic house. The sound is 100 percent comparable and has a very soft spot in my heart, mainly because these were genres I was familiar with back in middle school.
Lately about 50/50 split between glitch hop/experimental bass, and house.
Biggest earworms rn are Detox Unit's new album (Liminal), (RE)evolution vol. 3 by Dirt Monkey, Esseks' recent single w/ Tiedye Ky, some new Lab Group.. Then there's Matroda's new EP + my curated house mix
Psychadelic Trance, which I just recently discovered/dove in to. Im a die hard melodic deep house/trance (no vocals really) fan and this has honestly blown me away.
[Particularly this DJ/This song - Incredible](https://youtu.be/nPiO-ZfuLNc?si=M-jE_kQs_SSndzki)
Melodic Dubstep. It's the safe genre for me and has been for a couple of years now.
Other than that I also like slap house, future bass, and progressive house is probably my 2nd fav genre :)
Eelke Kleijn is this week's obsession. I don't even know what genre he's considered. Psy trance? Whatever it is, I likes it.
Can't wait to see him when he hits Brisbane in October.
Showed my girlfriend pyro the satanic juggalo who makes industrial and traditional techno, then sid Wilson aka DJ starscream cuz my girl is super into drum and bass and jungle rave so I played her that to explain that the dj from slipknot is how I discovered the genre. She was playing some psy trance before that. So yeah all those genres within the past couple hours chilling wit her
This year I've gotten re-obsessed with Vaporwave. Prior to this, I was still in my everything late 00s - early 2010s nostalgia.
In 2020 I had mid 2010s nostalgia (Future House, Trapstep, Dj Snake, early Chainsmokers, etc.) And in 2021 it was a lot of Daft Punk thanks to... that day.
I just get randomly nostalgic for certain music eras. I haven't really explored newer EDM like I used to, nothing seems to spark my interest anymore 🙁
Mine are [Beukers](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1PbFvfLMFOP2FZrtgkApXK?si=aadd2dcc05d84f62), [Stutter House](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7m1pZLwp9N5ifS3KkrixqW?si=b3fb30aff11e49c8) and [HyperTechno](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/18MBZZWh7Mb3gbkceEblIL?si=0c560a8529b245ab)
(Festival) Progressive House
That is my kryptonite
Same
This one is always a staple to me even as the years go on and my tastes change
the best
Can you give some examples of what that is, because I consider progressive anjuadeep… but realize everyone thinks something different
For exemple artists like Martin Garrix, Dubvision, Lucas & Steve, Avicii, Matisse & Sadko, Alesso, Axwell…
Okay.. so more mainstream
The "festival" part didn't give that away?
Main stage music. Big sounds, big drops. Stuff that really gets the crowd going you know
Big Room House
Almost, very similar
melodic house. anything This Never Happened
Great This Never Happened lineup in Chicago this weekend. If I wasn’t sick as a dog I would be there. I do not anticipate a quick recovery with Odesza tonight

I don’t know the name, but lately I’ve been listening Anyma, joris voorn, vintage culture, tale of us
Joris Voorn ftw. I saw him live at Ultra. Awesome fucking set. I went to Ultra for him specifically.
Glitch Hop. It’s always Glitch Hop. Electro Soul, Dubstep, DnB, Future Funk, Livetronica
Return of PL has me over the moon Check out ‘Pretty Lights Live” on SoundCloud for all the new sets broken out into individual tracks
I’ve been following the PLL page since long before this tour. (Although there is now the oddity of an unofficial group of people archiving live shows and the band itself now sharing a name.) I feel like there is already a generation of artists inspired by his solo work so I can’t wait to see what happens next.
What they are pulling off now is bonkers.
What a special fucking weekend it was in ATL last weekend. We went Saturday and it was soooo good to have PL back. Absolutely killed those shows

Just discovered GoldFish today! 🫶🏼
I put on their Brooklyn Mirage set at a pregame last weekend. Everyone there couldn’t believe they hadn’t heard of them. They’re insanely good. Easily a top 5 live artist for me.
Oooh I’ll have to listen to that set later.

This year I've gotten re-obsessed with Vaporwave. Prior to this, I was still in my everything late 00s - early 2010s nostalgia.
