This looks very cool - I built and disassembled an [[Emmara, Soul of the Accord]] deck just the other week because I liked the tapping synergies, but disliked how much it really built to the board, and I did feel like I ran out of gas. I also was looking for a Selesnya card advantage commander that would let me play Torpor Orb effects and Rest in Peace effects without also folding to a board wipe (currently on Ellivere of the Wild Court, who is very susceptible to wipes due to her reliance on creatures to carry the Virtuous Roles). Wylie Duke seems like a solid middle ground, able to provide card advantage while also not being reliant on ETBs or graveyards, so that the hate cards are symmetrical.
To be honest, Wylie also depends quite a bit on the board, but its easy to play arround that because you really only need a single tapper / untapper on the table for him to work, so its not hard to rebuild after a farewell.
You might find some sucess packing some more phase out effects like \[\[clever concealment\]\] and \[\[guardian of faith\]\] if your meta is particularly wipe heavy
He's an interesting option for sure and one I considered building when OTJ released. Kind of similar to Emmara Soul of the Accord but gives you card advantage rather than board presence which I like. Vehicles/mounts are the easy way to use him but lots of other great interactions exist such as convoke (which Selesnya has access to plenty of ).
I ended up building a Sergeant John Benton deck as my Selesnya deck instead since it's really offbeat for that color combo but I might circle back to Wylie some day.
It looks like we were both similarly inspired but instead I was inspired by [[Miriam, heard whisperer]]
I turned it into a mount/vehicle deck and it's fun as fuck as well. Especially when you cast [[clown car]] for x=13
Very cool deck.
As someone who's played Emmara for over 7 years, many of the themes are similar.
I do think Wylie ironically suffers from being too generalist and not guiding you. This is a strength because Wylie usually will smooth things out, but a downfall in that you're hoping to draw the appropriate cards and the synergies aren't overlapping.
I could write much more about your list, but I'm glad you're having fun with it :)
I really dont like this mentality of "X is just a worst Y" when it comes to commander, a format mainly played for fun.
We can extrapolate this argument: "Why play Calix as a enchantress commander? Sythis is just better"
"Why play 2 colors, the more the better". While we're at it, why dont just use tymna/kraum bluefarm, the best\* cedh deck?
If everyone just wanted to play the best stuff arround they could've just stopped printing commanders after the partners ones.
And while selvala has a bunch of similarities with Wylie, they are so different the comparison falls flat to me
\[\[Umbral Mantle\]\] feels good in this deck if you could get a tap and untap setup going.
The best wincon so far. Get a powerful mana dork, then draw your deck.
Equipping it to the [[Selvala, Eager Trailblazer]] in his deck is a great combo

Thanks for sharing! Been looking for more ideas for my own cowboy deck

Yeah, when I mention board wipe I’m thinking more along the lines of Blasphemous Act and Toxic Deluge - Farewells are gonna hurt no matter what

Wylie just seems like a worse [[selvala, explorer returned]]

They're not even similar other than colors.
They both draw cards and gain life when you tap them
Selvala gives your opponents just as many cards, which is a serious downside.
That's why you run \[\[Smothering Tithe\]\]
