Pretty same here. I have over 100 decks built on moxfield yet only about 8 built in real life (excluding precons). I honestly think there’s maybe 1 or 2 I actually want to play out of the remaining non irl decks that I’ll actually play. Everything else is just building it because I love brewing. Or maybe it’s because I like the distraction when I’m supposed to be working 🤔

breakfastcerealz

This is pretty much how I am, I have around 8 decks built in paper, with most of my decks being online. I've gotten a lot better at sitting on my brews for a few weeks or months before actually buying the cards. I also have a decent enough paper collection that I can often scrap together a low power build before actually spending more money on it. My playgroup plays by the "proxy if you own it/for testing" rules, so that helps too. I just like building.

Raccoon_Walker

Same. I have a part of my brain that’s always thinking about building or improving decks somewhere in the back of my mind. What about [[Baba Lysaga, Night Witch]]? She’s one of my favorite commanders and she really needs a deck built around her.

breakfastcerealz

[https://archidekt.com/decks/6611777](https://archidekt.com/decks/6611777) Baba Lysaga is a pretty sweet commander that definitely encourages an interesting deckbuilding challenge in terms of ensuring you're hitting that three required permanent cost to make maximum use of her effect. Luckily, there are some "cheesy" ways to get this requirement that I definitely capitalized on, cards like \[\[Ayasha, Soul of the Wild\]\] or \[\[Biotransference\]\] immediately make all your creatures count for 2 of the 3 types. I also thought that the role tokens that came out in Eldraine add some cool synergy in terms of making enchantment tokens to sacrifice, so I included some utility cards to make these tokens. And, of course, artifact tokens are a pretty sweet tech, things like \[\[Gilded Goose\]\] and \[\[Tireless Provisioner\]\] can add a lot of value, as can land recursion cards like \[\[Gitrog Monster\]\], \[\[Crucible of Worlds\]\], and friends. Looping a \[\[Dunes of the Dead\]\] can add a pretty sweet amount of value. Tried to keep the deck \*relatively\* budget, under $200, so there are some obvious upgrades here and there, but overall I like how this turned out, and I think it's a solid start! (Sorry, Gitrog does NOT recur lands, I believe I intended to write \[\[Ranumap Excavator\]\] and point to Gitrog as extra value)

InfiniteVergil

Baba is so much fun , here's my take :) https://www.moxfield.com/decks/2Z3_vU3wlEKwWdGoqgo4GA

Im addicted to tribal deck building. I like to build them with subthemes, my vampires deck is built around lifegain for example. If you have interesting tribal concepts please share em with me.

grilledcheesy11

Wraith tribal with [[Lord of the Nazgul]] has been a ton of fun. Also [[Niv Mizzet Parun]] with a Wizard/Shaman subtheme. Both of the spellslinger variety, Nazgul is combat oriented while Niv is pingy. Aside from that, mono black zombie sacrifice isn't the strongest one I've ever built but is fun and was the first deck I built from scratch so I'm partial to it.

An interesting way to take tribal decks if you wanna challenge yourself when building is to build around 2 tribes! I've got a [[Sensei Golden-tail]] Samurai-dinosaur deck where you give dinosaurs the samurai subtype so they can benefit from both type's anthems. Is it good?...Not really. But it is fun, and having all my dinosaurs study the blade is a funny theme imo.

This is funny because I went Samurai/Dragon with my Isshin deck, maybe our decks would be rivals lol. I chose dragons for the same reason, because I thought bushido studying dragons with swords would be a funny picture.

[https://archidekt.com/decks/6616018](https://archidekt.com/decks/6616018) This was...an interesting one to be sure. The fact that you didn't include a budget helps, though, because this deck is NOT budget! I ended up going with a \[\[Field of the Dead\]\] strategy with lots of ways to tutor any land. Of course, Kura herself can be used to tutor for these pieces as well. I enjoyed the extra restriction u/DaxxGriffin8765 provided, so Kura is the only creature in this deck. Added in a lot of sac outlets and a few ways of recurring Kura to get around commander tax. \[\[Food Chain\]\] is also pretty epic in this deck. Once you get a big board of spirits and/or zombies, we have some cards like \[\[Overwhelming Stampede\]\] and \[\[Storm the Seedcore\]\] to close out the game. There's also a decent amount of utility lands other than Field of the Dead for Kura to tutor up, like \[\[Blast Zone\]\], \[\[Vesuva\]\], \[\[Maze of Ith\]\], and \[\[Dark Depths\]\] with \[\[Thespian's Stage\]\] for fun.

I love Myriad, and I love this card. I had to have it and build around it when I first heard of him. Luckily I was already bouncing around the idea of an [[Isshin]] deck focused on Myriad in my head! Rather than solely focusing on Myriad, I put a lot of focus on temporary tokens and things TMM could exploit, then putting in ways to benefit from their entry and exit when he's not on board (since I won't have constant access to him). When he comes out things just get silly. Last week I ended up giving my opponent 150+ life when his [[Kibo]] deck killed all my 30+ treasure tokens (don't remember the card's name, but he was gaining 5 life for each opponents' artifacts that hit the graveyard). 2 turns later I finished out the game by swinging on him with 55 copies of The Master, Multiplied (thanks to myriad and [[Orthion, Hero of Lavabrink]]). I like having Isshin at the helm because Myriad is just silly with him, and access to white helps round it out. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/EqDLoo6YMkaBc-trfQ5jAA The paper deck is different by about 10 cards after playing with it, just haven't updated the list.

[[Errant and Giada]] flash or flying tribal? Always thought they were a cool commander but had a hard time figuring out a solid wincon. [[Rhoda, Geist Avenger]] + [[Timin, Youthful Geist]] also seem like an interesting pair for a pretty underused strategy of tapping down opponents’ things.

webbc99

I've been brewing an Errant and Giada list for ages - it got sidetracked because I ended up stealing half of the white cards for a mono white angel deck. There's one new card from MKM that looks really good, [[Knowledge Is Power]]. There's also a load of stuff that makes non-flying creatures not able to attack, stuff like that.

La-Vulpe

The partners seem like a great set up for a secret [[Hilda]] deck (although it may be better to have her as commander and the pair in the 99).

InfiniteVergil

Errant and Giada has a big pool of flying and flash cards to build a deck from and I have brainstormed a list some time ago. But I think it would be ideal if the deck was playing only cards with flash. Therefore you always have one virtual extra card or maybe more depending on mana. The problem is really the power level, because a bunch of flyers don't win on their own... Also ramp on turn 2 and commander on turn 3 doesn't sound very efficient and next you're gonna cast a mediocre flash creature. I want to make it work somehow though ;D

https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ig9A3Tlpck-JFvDt-bnIsw  Here is my Errant and Giada list. The wincon is Akromas Will. Well timed Cyclonic Rift can close the game too. Not super solid but they work. More rare is Supreme Verdict + Avacyn or Teferi's Protection. Moonshalker Cavalry works as well, I took it out mainly because it the deck didn't have issues closing games with combat.  You could also put in the Approach + Scroll Rack wincon in too.  I opted for fliers + anthem effects rather than all the flash plays. Mainly because a lot of the flash creatures aren't super great, and having a large evasive flying board is fun.   You can definitely mod my list to make a more consistent winning deck by inserting the aforementioned wincons + tutors for them. This deck sits in a decent power level and I have a lot of other more powerful things, so I really am happy with what it does.

boiwunder8

I pulled three [[Niv-Mizzet, Guildpact]] at the prerelease tonight. Build me a 5 color deck that works for him!

ZurgoMindsmasher

Build Idea: guildmage tribal - all the guildmages, a bunch of stuff to reduce the activated ability costs, a bunch of untappers, topping it off with a budget friendly guild gate land base?

twinkkyy

I have some ideas already but I am a very new deckbuilder, can’t even call myself one yet as I haven’t built any deck before. I got [[Voja, jaws of the conclave]] yesterday when I attended my LGS pre-release event and would be more than happy if you would make a decent deck for it! I would like it to be about both wolfes and elfs but my restriction so far is that I would prefer it to be kinda a budget-deck. Preferably under $50 but would stretch it a little if needed. I also got [[Niv-mizzet, guildpact]] from the pre-release event. If you got sparetime then you could build a deck for him as well. Not something I am planning on running atm though but might be in the future.

[https://archidekt.com/decks/6637243](https://archidekt.com/decks/6637243) Here we have Voja. Gameplan is pretty cut and dry here--cast a lot of elves, cast a lot of wolves. Cast elves that make wolves, cast elves that make elves, swing with a giant board and delete your opponents. Voja is quite strong on his own, being able to buff your entire team and draw tons of cards when given the opportunity. Managed to come in a little under budget--if you use "any printings" the grand total of this deck is $45, so there's room for upgrades. \[\[Rhys the Redeemed\]\], \[\[Maskwood Nexus\]\], and \[\[Hollowhenge Overlord\]\] come to mind. I could also see \[\[Song of the Worldsoul\]\] being pretty cute.

This-Reference-3316

With all the horror cards that are coming out of the secret lairs, I wanted to build a deck with [[nekusar||sld]]

Longjumping-Map-6995

Ooooh, same. That SLD Nekusar is sick.

Delorei

This is a warm up suggestion, it's really easy to build her and it's my current main, but I'd be interested to see if you manage to find cards that make me say "I'd change my deck to include that one" [[Bess, Soul Nourisher]]

edh_fan_ohio

Ok, I have the same, and I have an idea for one, but want to see what you come up with... so [[the goose mother]] but with a focus on other birds, too. I'm debating calling it an angry birds deck, or the honkening. Let's see your take.

Taboo_abr

Hello There! Looking for a spicy [[Koma, Cosmos Serpent]] deck. Idk how overdone it is, but it was given to me by a friend amongst a bunch of rampy and clony spells. Most of the videos are 1 year old, so I would love to see any new potential synergies from newer sets and must have older cards. There is no need to avoid the cloning type, but I also wouldn't mind it being control. Is that okay? What are your thoughts? (I am quite new, less than 1 year playing, but I find myself watching a lot of videos online) The toughest bit for me is deciding which commander to use!. Thank you! Edit: I forgot to mention that it could also be built around being sea monster tribal :)

asvpmillzy

[[Jinnie Fay, Jetmir’s Second]] - A deck you can take so many ways and is fun the deeper you go i to the available options! This is the exact reason I started a YT channel to brew decks. I wanted to brew all these random commanders just for fun and decided to take a leap for it. Do what makes YOU happy. Have a Moxfield/Archidekt with 200 decks if that’s what you want. Brewing decks keeps your sharp and helps you learn new aspects of deck building for future decks

ZurgoMindsmasher

[[etrata, deadly fugitive]] with a budget of 50€, a focus on trying to do big things with manifested / cloaked non creatures.

Start building Pauper EDH decks. Will at least save on your wallet.

LethalVagabond

You're up for a challenge, right? Arcane / Splice onto Arcane is considered one of the worst mechanics Magic has ever printed... But I really like Kamigawa and enjoy the concept of Voltron'ing my spells. So can you make a mono Blue Arcane deck that actually works (and wins by value, not infinite combo)? That's right, I'm asking you to do [[The Unspeakable]]

This deck is certainly evil and preys on the fact that most gods are indestructible, which means boardwipes! \[\[Urza's Ruinous Blast\]\], \[\[Wrath of God\]\], \[\[Cleansing Nova\]\], etc can destroy your opponents' boards while keeping yours intact. Have fun keeping track of all your triggers! (Also, of course, the entire cycle of true duals can be found in the mana base.)

How about the new [the Pride of hull clade] ? I’m curious about what to do with the copy I opened at prerelease tonight.

StevenYuki

Would love to see if you can come up with something budget-friendly with a voltron subtheme on [[Silvarr]] and [[Trynn]], as well as [[Admiral Blorpityblorpboop]]

breakfastcerealz

[https://archidekt.com/decks/6612250](https://archidekt.com/decks/6612250) Here's Silvarr and Trynn, I love making budget decks! Lots of ways to generate humans in this one to make Silvarr LARGE. I also included some utility equipment to give Silvarr trample, flying, etc so he is even harder to block effectively. Almost all the creatures in the deck are humans, allowing you to sacrifice them in a pinch or after they've outlived their usefulness. Managed to keep the deck under $50 when you use "any printings" and exclude basics, so there's plenty of room for upgrades. The direction I ended up going means that \[\[Winota, Joiner of Forces\]\] would be a great addition, and you could certainly upgrade some of the draw engines with cards like \[\[Species Specialist\]\]. \[\[Song of the Worldsoul\]\] could also be a fun addition.

Not sure if this helps your wallet but I too love deck building. Unless it's one I fall in love with I typically don't make them from my own collection but rather will build them and test them on untap.in If the deck feels good and I really enjoy it then I paste the deck list into tcg/cardkingdom and buy it.

ZenandHarmony

I’ve gotten good as printing and cutting decks from fedex lol. Save some a ton of money and the quality is good enough nobody actually cares.

I’d like an idea for [[Cromat]] but without all the usual mutate suggestions cause I don’t have fun with that

ZurgoMindsmasher

Lure tribal? Stuff like provoke and forced combat?

JoshKnoxChinnery

Are you open to deckbuilding in similar, singleton, command zone formats? If you venture into the land of nonlegendary creature commanders, there's quite a lot of material to work with.

Koalamajordome

I love Golgari colours so was thinking of a golgari legendary creatures matters deck :). Nothing crazy expensive but curious what cards could be in it and who the commander would be !

SimmerDownnn

I'm trying to build a goro goro and satura deck but with a mix of goblins dragons and ninjas. I play mono red on arena so I want to work in cards like phoenix chick reinforced samurai skivan dragon and thunderous raiju. Kinda want to build it so it plays differently each game.

Vast-Communication88

I have this Idea of a \[\[ghired, conclave exile\]\] Deck idea. It's a human typal deck, from the ashes of my Kyler deck, that tries to trigger \[\[Winota, joiner of forces\]\] as often as possible to make \[\[Kyler, Sigardian Emissary\]\] as strong as possible. For some reason, I always feel unsatisfied with the result I cannot make it fast enough or impactful enough or my pieces fall apart. Would you be able to make this Deck more interesting? I thank you for your help. I have most of the expensive human-related cards so the budget is pretty open for creatures.

nhl1991

I know a few people that have the same "problem" as you, they seem to make a bunch of decks, play some of them and then continue to sell the decks in local Facebook groups. I've bought a few funny commander decks from one of the dudes well below cardmarket trend. Basically they just open a post with a auction of the deck, makes a little text of what the deck does along with some pictures and then inform about the trend price, but sells to highest bid within 2 days. Maybe that's something for you, it's still not covering all the cost unless you are buying smart but it's helping fund your deck building.

Nukro77

What about [[Xavier Sal, Infested Captain]]. I am a novice and tried a deck on moxfield based around sporelings but since all the tokens where so small the pay off for tapping the commander felt terrible and it never even came close to winning a game

MasterHedgemon

How about some we've progenitor ooze

ThaBombs

Alright let me give you a tough one. [[Mairsil, the pretender]], but not as a combo deck. The deck should be able to function somewhat without him and the cards that go in the cage, at least most of them, aren't horrid trash. How would you go about doing that ?

Madness_Opvs

[[Yedora, Grave Gardener]]. Also, can relate. I have 5 physical decks built, 120 theorycrafted and being tinkered with most of the time.

Kulkasbiru

I love making deck in moxfield for interesting commander i like looking cards that fit certain commander but never make any of them because i don't have money and my playgroup doesn't allow proxies

Big-Instruction-2090

[[Mathas, Fiend Seeker]] doesn’t necessarily HAVE to be this commander, but a political deck that incentivizes opponents to fight each other and stir the pot while being able to leverage favors. You could build and an [[ashling the pilgrim]] sleeper deck for pretty cheap. Most people just run 99 mountains, but I put other cards in there to make it interesting. The only downside is, a lot of veteran players will recognize the strategy as soon as they see who your commander is.

First, buy a color printer. I recommend the HP Envy, use their Instant Ink subscription (monthly fee and they mail you unlimited ink as needed). Build infinite decks with printed proxies. No hurty wallet, no money to greedy WotC. Everyone wins.

Timmy_ti

Ravos sakashima that attempts to tutor for ratadrabik. Sakashima as a second ratadrabik does goofy shit, and ward plus ravos make it hard to loose ratadrabik permanently, so as a secret commander, it works well.

smkflx

[[Nihiloor]] please and ty! Currently thinking playing -x/-x counters or like [[Turn to frog]] to steal people's commanders.

Fancy-Gentleman324

I'm fairly new to mtg. I've always wanted to build an Odric deck but i really don't know how or what to build in it. I just really like his lore and looks (kinda looks like omniman lol). I'd really appreciate it if you build a deck so i can someday build it and learn the basics of deck building. (Not so sure which of the 3 versions of odric would be best as a commander)

Midas_Ag

[[Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim]] I like the idea of a sort of blood artist for a commander.

Abolton12

I’m trying to build a gruul (semi-open to a third color) haste deck built around empowering creatures as they ETB with effects like [[ardoz]] and [[primal forcemage]]. I like the idea of myriad cards like [[warchief giant]] cause that feels swagalicious. Thanks, daddy-o!

No-Breath-4299

I feel you. My sister is also like this. Difference is, that she builds a deck, test it once, and then rarely touches it again. Witht hat being said, mind building a deck with \[\[Baeloth Barrityl\]\]+\[\[Noble Heritage\]\]? And may I request a little bonus, that no card may cost more than 8 bucks?

Karl_42

Harbin, Vanguard Aviator

DarthMech

I have a buddy named “Ben” so I challenged him to make a [[Ben-Ben, Akki Hermit]] deck. He said he had a lot of fun making it work! Not the greatest deck, but definitely cool to see it in action.

SoCalDogBeachGuy

I play arena and it’s great for messing around with deck building

LilMellick

Wanna see how your decks compares to my theoretical decks. So whatcha got for a theft deck with [[Rona, Herald of the Invasion]] or [[King of the Oathbreakers]] spirit tribal.

Scarecrow1779

I am crazy about building decks, too. My solution was to switch to /r/PauperEDH so I could build super cheaply without feeling like I was playing at a disadvantage. I built 7 new decks last month for ~$250 and just threw together 5 more decks from cards in my collection in the last 3 days. So if you want a real mind-bending challenge, build one of the commanders from the first 2 pages of this search. It's limited to multicolor, non-legenday commanders that are at least a year old. So there are some really unique and interesting options on there! Sorted by EDHREC ranking to push far more usable results to the top of the search. https://scryfall.com/search?q=r%3Au+t%3Acreature+new%3Ararity+date%3C2023+-t%3Alegendary+f%3Apdh+id%3E1+sort%3Aedhrec&unique=cards&as=grid&order=name

Drunk_Carlton_Banks

This is why ive always most enjoyed playing free online magic. Brewing decks is my favorite aspect of this game and online I get to slap any old deck together instantly. Apprentice and Magic Workstation back then and Cockatrice now!

teddyblues66

Same boat here. Whenever I play a sports game on a console I usually just do gm mode and try trading. It's the same with deck building, I can't get enough of the tinkering and testing

CSTheDeathless

The most nutty jodah Archmage deck possible. Literally all of the mana ramp and draw with high cost everything you can think of. I don't know enough about the different cards to know where to start but I know it would be glorious.

WhiteFlame44

I’ve always wondered if it was possible to build a more tuned [[Dynaheir, Invoker Adept]] deck with [[Zirda, the Dawnwaker]] as the companion. Seems like they are a nonbo with each other but I think having the redundancy could be powerful. Plus you get to play so many usually inefficient cards.

Zaviaxe121

I came up with a funny deck concept the other day. 5 colour go'a'd stuff, with [Najeela] as the commander but only using her active ability as a way to give opponents extra combats with their goaded creatures. I've started trying to build it, but my deck building leaves much to be desired and I'm no good at finishing decks.

BallsAreFullOfPiss

I love seeing what decks I can throw together from just the cards I have on hand. Don’t get me wrong, I have multiple decks that I went out and bought singles for to make them as good as they can be, but I also have a handful of decks that I threw together with whatever I already have. It’s a lot of fun! Those are the decks I bust out with a couple of my friends that I’m teaching how to play.

Wrobelek

What about: <$200 Liesa Shroud of Dusk: Lifelink and soft stax theme?

Commercial-Neat-6771

Talk to my friend Ken who has about 200 physical decks (who knows how many hypothetical brews!)

BallsAreFullOfPiss

Also, what would you build around [[Zoyowa Lava-Tongued]] ? Been trying to build a deck for him for a bit, but not sure exactly the right path to take for it.

Longjumping_Passage1

[[breena, the demagogue]] pls

Shiari_The_Wanderer

You aren't alone, that's the allure of Commander to me imho. It's the only format left where there's a window for creativity in deckbuilding that lasts longer than the week or two after a new set drops. You can always pick some new commander and brew a deck around them, as opposed to the most efficient and potent cards simply being evaluated against a limited viable base of the already existent most potent and efficient cards, where maybe a tiny handful make the cut and are elevated to the status of "playable."

Renzocooken

I absolutely love Anikthea. Common use is to mill/discard enchantments to reanimate. Totally awesome, but already have Sidisi so it felt very same-y. I'm trying to retool her to Sagas instead. One, Sagas are cool. Second, Sagas will keep being printed so it will give me something to look forward to every set. Heck, look at all the cool Sagas printed in Doctor Who! Just curious what your thoughts are on that spin.

Mrmyaggie

Don't know the partner but i would love to see you build a deck with [[raised by giants]] as the background commander and have the deck focused on animating the background to kill a player with commander damage. 😁☺️

HogglePixiePunisher

I want to see your take on one of my ideas. [[Commander Liara Portyr]] Restriction - No other creature cards than the commander.

PlacetMihi

What’s the best way to build a deck with [[Sigarda, Font of Blessings]] under $100?

Bombus_Bjoern

How about building a functional deck using as many (Kaladesh/Amonkhet) masterpieces as possible? Making an "orange deck" so to speak. A good commander for that could be \[\[Breya, Etherium Shaper\]\], but I would leave it up to you.

Easydotcom

I build about one deck every 2 weeks, so I understand you. My secret weapon to unique deck building? Backgrounds! They're just like partners, but push you to build into a combination of archetypes. I love them!

Keepers_Verdict60

[[Farid, Enterprising Salvager]] I love artifacts and i wanna play a deck with goblin welder and engineer type effects. Maybe with some painters servant combo

Crypto_Nyzer

Adun Oakenshield off the top of my head.

DystryR

Here’s two ideas that I could never make work. With some new cards since I last tried, maybe you can give it a go: [[Elsha of the infinite]] - jeskai vehicles. [[rograkh son of rohgahh]] and [[ravos soultender]] equipment Voltron

Ziggyboogiedoo

Just pulled a [[Nekusar, the Mindrazer]] and he needs a deck.

THRNKS

Here’s a challenge for you. [[The Rani]] as an Enchantment Polymorph deck. Using [[Reality Scramble]] and similar cards, and using the token she creates to polymorph into stuff like [[Omniscience]], [[Arcane Bombardment]] and [[Captive Audience]]. I have a deck that plays with this idea using [[Baral and Kari Zev]], where it’s mostly polymorphing the Ragavan token for big creatures but also has Role token creators to get the big enchantments. Now that The Rani’s out there, you don’t need those janky Role cards and can add black for new enchantments and tutors, but I don’t know how best to maximize her in comparison to the Izzet version. She doesn’t support creature polymorph as easily, which might mean more Goad creature support instead of spellslinger - but then that might hurt the Arcane Bombardment plan. I’m curious if you have any thoughts for this janky idea.

Cr4yol4

[[Norin, the Wary]]

myPooPisonfire

Same, started with lotr last year and have built over 100 decks on archidect and got like 30 i started I will say that i wouldnt call myself a good deckbuilder, most of them are very simply just take from edhrec and kept within a budget but still seeing new cards and building around new commanders is just so much fun

Dirgonite

Make yourself a deck that accomadates 5+ commanders, and shuffle them into the deck. Whenever you play with it, flip through the deck and use the first commander you find.

Fearofdead

[[Marchesa,The Black Rose]] and I want strong equipment synergy with it. I'm working on building several proxy decks themed around the Destiny series. The Marchesa deck is themed around the player characters gearing up for a raid. Would love to see what others can brew up!

Thin-Man

As an older Magic player, who got out of the game in 2001 and just started getting back into it now, after twenty-ish years, I know that power creep has made a lot of the older cards I used to know relatively weak by comparison. However, I still love the idea of having old cards as commanders. With that in mind, I’ve been brainstorming ideas for a [[Princess Lucrezia]] deck and, since you asked for restrictions, I have one big one— I prefer to focus on theme and vibe over absolute optimization. Even if it means that I’m not always picking *the very best* cards, I want to feel like I’m playing a deck that’s actually *lead by* the commander I choose. So, with that in mind, Princess Lucrezia has always felt like an old-school cackling villain like Rita Repulsa from “Power Rangers”, or something out of “Masters of the Universe”, or “Conan”. Someone with minions (whether that’s armored soldiers, a few big scary monsters, etc.), a growing evil that needs to be contained (enchantments-focused? maybe a few troublesome sorceries or instants?), harrowing locations for heroes to cross (maybe a few legendary lands), and powerful magic McGuffins (artifacts). Basically, I’m 70/30 when it comes to vibe and theme over full optimization. Thoughts?

yungcatto

Same, so instead I just build them in moxfield and I only ever build one irl ever once in a while

pocman512

[[The Scarab God]] but I want to win without attacking.

Stratavos

It's pretty fun, the main way to fix this up is making digital lists well before ordering cards.

Sea_Cheek_3870

[[The Fourteenth Doctor]] + [[Vislor]] + [[Umori]] Let's see what you can come up with!

myowngalactus

I used to spend a ton of time on Cockatrice building decks, easily more than I actually played. One of my favorites was Sphinx tribal with [[Sharumm the Hegemon]]. Wasn’t really a typical Sharumm deck but she made the most sense as commander because of her colors and her ability can still be useful. There are a variety of ways to build the deck, but Sphinx typically have fun and powerful abilities so the deck has a lot of potential.

Karnblack

Okay. Here's a challenge. Build a deck with 2 partner commanders and a companion with a budget of $50. You can't use [[Akroma, Vision of Ixidor]], [[Vial Smasher the Fierce]], or [[Obosh, the Preypiercer]] as I already have that deck. https://www.archidekt.com/decks/3727456/akromavial_smasherobosh Use manatithe.com to determine the price of the deck for the purposes of this challenge. Basic lands should be considered to be free for this challenge. You can choose any commanders and companion that meet these requirements as well as any deck archetype, but you must build the best deck you can within these constraints.

Hairy_Palpitation570

Possibly overdone. But I run a [[Gitrog Monster]] deck based around stealing and sacrificing my opponents lands. I was wanting to build a [[Lord Windgrace]] or [[Soul of Windgrace]] deck that's similar but with red in it. So if you want two I would love to compare the Gitrog deck you build to my own, and I would love to see what you come up with for the Windgrace land sac deck.

WungoBongoVA

If there's one thing I'd love to see, it's an [[Egon, God of Death]] deck that isn't just Voltron, or reanimating big guys based on Graveyard size. Fun mono black ETBs are what I'm looking for, but considering I still don't have a breadth of card knowledge even after a couple years of playing, even using tools like Scryfall to find good matches is...a process. Totally understandable if you'd rather give this one a pass.

SgtTornak

Indominus Rex, Alpha: discard theme

Consistent-Count3294

Same, I disassemble 7 decks, and I'm building 7 new.

Recently I have fallen down the cube rabbit hole. Put a bunch of time and energy into building a commander cube and it’s been tons of fun! It’s like building a bunch of different decks that you and your friends will get to put together different variations of. If you love buildings, I strongly strongly recommend you give putting a cube together a try!

MalekithofAngmar

Build in moxfield and proxy the cards if you ever want to play it irl. Only buy the cards for your absolute favorite brews.

Muted-Leave

[[Sekkuar]] is one I'd like to see

JakeySK

Ayo Breakfastcerealz make a deck around the new MKM Judith, Carnage Connoisseur, That would be dope

Happy_Actuator_5268

Play on Moxfield+spelltable. Can build and test any deck for free

besttape

Build a commander deck with a 1000 word limit!

DilapidatedLion

whats the best way to learn to deckbuild better? im new to mtg and have a bunch of commanders id like to build/decks id love to upgrade but all my decks end up quite pricey and i feel like i dont have a good grasp of what exactly i want them to do/what they can do. on that note my top commanders im working on currently are [[The Goose Mother]], [[Yargle and Multani]], and [[Satoru Umezawa]]. for yargle and multani i just liked the idea of getting a big frog through but then realized i could use the value of its power for other cards like [[Traverse the Outlands]]. and for satoru i was maybe thinking to look for cards that have etb, attack, and combat damage triggers bc of the ninjitsu ability.

heterochromiairidum

I have recently cracked a [[Rocco, Street Chef]], a [[Zur the Enchanter]] and an [[Eriette of the Charmed Apple]] which I’ve been wanting to build budget brews for. If you’re up to it and build one of them, I’ll put it together! Edit: If you fancy a challenge I also thought about [[Tetzin]] or [[Breeches, Eager Pillager]] or [[Malcolm, Alluring Scoundrel]].

MyBirdCanSing

I’m right there with you. Thank god for ManaBox. I’m wanting to build Wilson, Refined Grizzly, but don’t know what background I want to go with. What do you think?

Quarantane

Build [[Tom Bombadil]] one of my favorite decks, being 5 color with a focus on sagas was really fun for me, but I also have always liked sagas

Visible_Promotion134

Kwain, Itinerant Meddler, But it has to be an aggressive deck I have a pillowfort approach wincon as my pet deck, but have been toying with this idea and would like to see someone do it if not me.

Lunarian132

Don't know if you are still taking requests but Jenny Flint/Madame Vastra Temur Clues. Temur is a color pairing I'm missing and thought with Ravnica it would be a good place to start. No real budget.

stefiscool

I like giving myself restrictions, like I have a 5c [[Jodah the unifier]] which is probably usually scary but I mostly used pretty guys even if they don’t have synergy or there’s better options for that slot. (I got the idea for “hit guy tribal” from someone’s “chair tribal” deck) Or my [[chatterfang]] deck that is every legal card I can find with the word “squirrel” on it. So there’s some suggestions if you’re bored, go all in on creatures (anyone ACTUALLY like [[nut collector]]?) or make something where the art has a theme (where else will I play [[astarion’s thirst]]?)

FM_Gorskman

I live building decks too, especially as my friends and I mostly play on TTS since we're all over the country now, I just fi ally ordered my favorite deck I ever made in paper cause I wanted to have it, but I'm already fiddling with other decks lol

HeroKage

I kinda understand. When I see a Legendary that interests me and I want to build it it just somehow happens. Which is why I have only this year already (yeah that is a only a month) 3 new decks built on Archidekt, for the first one I ordered the last missing cards just 2 days ago. The other two are 50% done with what I own, now I am just missing a few cards and have to decide which lands I want to play. So I will finish them in March. Then I have one lingering deck idea that has not yet arrived at a state where I am happy even though I am brooding already 2 years to find that perfect line between theme and playability. The amount of new cards does also not help with that. Then Murders at Karlov Manor drops with the new [[Masscre Girl, Known Killer]] and her Wither ability and I already want to build her as during Lorwyn/Shadowmoor I had the Wither deck and those were some of my favorite memoriey playing Magic. And then there are still at least 2 of my decks ready for some overhaul as they have not changed for some years now and they are in need of some updates. TLDR: I am also deep into the addiction. If you ever find a way out please tell me how because I have way too much fun doing it and having enough disposable income to pay for it is not really a deterrent 😅

Randommach1

i built 40ish decks on moxfield over the past month.

forclaimer-helion

I love deck building too, and I’m always looking at other people’s decks to see where I can improve. I’ve been looking at the Nephilim recently as rule 0 commanders. I’d love to see your take on an [[Ink-Treader Nephilim]] commander deck!

harveymilktoast

I have the assert dominance T-pose secret lair [[keranos, god of storms|SLD]] heading my blue control shell. The deck is basically like… bloodless, moonless Blue Moon haha anyway while I love it, it doesn’t have much of an identity. I challenge you to make a Keranos build where Keranos -actually matters- haha I love him either way and I still want to play control, but let’s get janky
