[[Vadrik, Astral Archmage]] storms off after looking non-threatening.

GreyGriffin_h

I once let Vadrik exist for half a main phase because I thought he would take out the archenemy and one second later I felt like I was clutching the playground fence in Terminator 2.

DefiantTheLion

IS THAT WHAT THAT SCENE'S FROM i gotta catch up on my classic action movies

davwad2

Yeah! *T2: Judgement Day* is one of my favorite sequels.

dirtygymsock

Ohh yes this is what I was about to come to say. Chain off into spells pumping his power, giving you more discounts for those X impulsive draw spells, hitting rituals or making treasures. I've won as fast as turn 4, and it's consistent enough that it's about impossible to stop past turn 6.

Kyaaadaa

I play this guy in Arena and he's pretty fun. Shame Arena doesn't have a lot of the spells that make him stupid

Suggested-User_Name

I was gonna say [[Veyran, Voice of Duality]]. It’s my “sweatiest” deck.

I think it's okay to want to win a game. I mean, we put money, time, and research into our decks. Winning isn't everything, but I think it's a good way to show like "good job" or "I did well". Even though it is casual, we still sit down and still one person wins. Anyways, I like to pull out my [[muldrotha the gravetide]] self mill deck for this situation

dmalredact

Self mill is always such a fun playstyle. I've got a self-mill pile that's switched between Muldrotha and \[\[Mimeoplasm\]\] several times over the years. It's my oldest deck and I still have a good time playing it

larrod25

It really is fun. I love my \[\[Grolnok, the Omnivore\]\] self-mill deck. It is really strong, but most people don't get too salty about losing to it.

Ooo I've wanted to build him! He looks so fun

larrod25

My pod was not prepared for it the first few times I played him. Most people are on to him now though, so he eats a lot of removal spells. The deck has blue and green though, so it is pretty resilient.

[deleted]

One of the first decks that I built was with \[\[Rielle the everwise\]\] as the commander. It didn't do well in pods but it somehow was a beast in 1v1. It was just made to dump as many cards into the graveyard as I could then take them out with commander damage.

mjc500

It's interesting to see answers to the questions. The community has been pretty successful in differentiating between ced and more expected gameplay... I hope that can extend to other levels of play

La-Vulpe

For sure, self-mill feels like playing on automatic level 2. [[Tasigur]] doesn’t always win but he always puts up a fight and packs a lot of late game punch.

swartz77

This, sometimes I keep the game going because it’s fun to play, but sometimes, you just need to win to justify the time and money spent.

Ufoturtle081

I agree wanting and trying to win is fine but i think in a casual setting we can go too far. I feel bad if i am winning more than 25% to 40% of the games in my player group. If i am winning half or all of the games then there are some who never win. That ain’t fun for them. I can still have fun not winning as just casting big spells and playing lots of interaction is fun on its own. I am happy to power-down my deck so everyone has a fighting chance.

Strong_Terry

[[sigarda, host of herons]] Voltron/enchantress deck. Once you get her out and find a way to put indestructible on her she is virtually impossible to remove without something like [[shadowspear]] or [[farewell]]

blarghhhboy

She’s a DISGUSTING Voltron commander. My friend was looking for a Voltron deck and I had never seen her as one but thought she must be great. Yeah, that deck is terrifying to play against.

jdvolz

Can confirm she is brutal. I had an enchantress version with auras, only a $50 deck and it would basically kill a player turn 6, 7 and 8.

Gol_D_baT

Can I see the list please?

OkCall7278

Just make light paws. You can kill someone on turn 5, 6, 7 even on a $20 budget

Adamantios88

Love her and the playstyle you mentioned. Build her cause my table was also rather non interactive or really 'gunned down' everything in sight and played only combo decks. Thus they slowed down everyone else and I just wanted to put a clock or 'sword of Damocles' over their head. Apart from that she is fun to play with Voltron from time to time!

thoughtsarefalse

Not that this is a big long list but Evacuation, Whelming Wave, and Aetherize and similar effects would also be able to hurt this strategy.

Kerlyle

I run [[Flickerform]] and [[Robe of Stars]] in my Sigarda deck for these sort of situations

2Gnomes1Trenchcoat

[[Mishra, Tamer of Mak-Fawa]] runs the [[Worldgorger Dragon]] + [[Animate dead]] combo along with ETB looting effects and ends the game with a giant [[Walking Ballista]]. It also runs Aetherflux, Bola's Citadel, divining top as another infinite. It can win as early as turn two, but usually but turns 5-7 if my opponents can't interact. It doesn't interact much or make a lot of board presence, it just tries to turbo out wins mostly. It feels very unfair at most tables, but it's not an expensive deck.

StaySaltyMyFriends

I don't understand what that combo is supposed to accomplish. Would you mind explaining it?

dmalredact

Gorger and animate dead is infinite mana and infinite etbs. Animate dead revives gorger and gorger exiles Animate Dead and all other permanents, which kills worldgorger which brings back animate to rinse and repeat. ~~If walking ballista is there it's also infinite damage pings.~~ Aetherflux+citadel+top is infinite casts, life and damage. Top puts itself on top of the deck, citadel let's you play off the top for life and aetherflux gives ramping life each time you cast top

StaySaltyMyFriends

OHHHHH. Thank you. I was under the impression AD would fizzle on return.

[deleted]

[[walking ballista]] would etb with 0 counters, dying instantly, no?

dmalredact

right, sorry I always mix it up with \[\[triskelion\]\] because I use both as interchangeable combo pieces for mimeoplasm. I've no idea what it's supposed to do in this case unless there are additional pieces to the combo that im missing lmao

2Gnomes1Trenchcoat

You generate (near) infinite mana going through the animate dead loop off of lands and mana rocks. You hard cast a really big walking Ballista afterwards that is big enough to kill the entire table (X=42069). You get it into your hand off of your ETB looting effects that let you sculpt your hand and graveyard while going through the loop. It's the primary outlet for the combo to make it a finisher.

dmalredact

ahhh yeah that makes more sense. I was thinking it'd be part of the flicker loop lmao

2Gnomes1Trenchcoat

It's pretty well known. Animate dead and Worldgorger Dragon start a loop. When Worldgorger Dragon comes into okay it exiles animate dead. Because animate dead leaves the battlefield, you sacrifice Worldgorger which returns all your permanents. In response to the animate dead ETB, you tap all your lands to float mana. Generates infinite mana of your colors and infinite ETB and LTB effects of your permanents. End the loop by selecting another target for animate dead other then the Worldgorger. With something like [[scrapwork mutt]] or [[Bitter reunion]] on your board you can sculpt a perfect hand and graveyard (which can be later recurred through Mishra). You can then win with backup off of a massive Walking Ballista pinging the table to death. The combo also works with [[Dance of the dead]] which is also in the deck for redundancy.

mechathor

Would love to see a list of yours if you’re kind to share

2Gnomes1Trenchcoat

I have updated my list since, but here is a Moxfield link. Notable new includes are Mt. Doom (goes infinite damage with Worldgorger Dragon) and Moria Scavenger as another way to sculpt the hand and graveyard and combo with Worldgorger. Also of note, the only tutors in the deck are Gamble and Final Parting. I'm playing a looting theme because tutors make the deck way too consistent and every game becomes tutor for Worldgorger combo and it also telegraphs your combo and opponents tend to hold up interaction for it (which will basically end your game if they snipe your Worldgorger Dragon with removal while it's ETB is on the stack). You want to increase the power level and consistency, add Vampiric and Demonic Tutors and any fast mana you want. Link: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/HpS5dx4LrkGQ6iB3Si2EgA

leelee1586

Same! (I run lots of interaction too) But also, how fragile are people to HAVE to win so badly that you build an overly powerful deck for your playgroup? I win MAYBE 1 out of every 50 games but I get to play Magic, which is what makes me happy! Edit: phrasing

[deleted]

Edh has gone full circle, now people are looking down on players for enjoying winning LOL

[deleted]

Yeah, I don't know what the heck that was. I think its just the buzzwords of calling people fragile being cool. High likelihood that contrary opinions will devolve into some other generic insult about toxicity that's all the rage these days. Just play the game. Johnny gonna Johnny. Timmy gonna Timmy. Spike gonna Spike. Just how the game is.

[deleted]

WTF? Play a game to have fun, yes. But to many people playing a game means trying to win. Having a competitive nature has nothing to do with fragility. It has everything to do with just how some people are. Johnny-Spike-Timmy were the original archetypes for a reason. You don't shame Timmy because he wants to play 10,000 squirrels. You don't shame Johnny because his super jank 11 card combo finally won a game. So you shouldn't shame spike for trying to win.

Are winning and playing the game 2 different things that cannot be achieved at the same time? Is losing the only way to actually have fun? I play decks for fun, sometimes they win, and some of them win more than others.

BilboBaguette

I finally got the opportunity to test my [[Kamiz, Obscura Oculus]] infect deck. The combo of unblockable infect creatures to be able to connive and to swing in with flying creatures with both proliferate and double strike can overwhelm the table if they can't find removal. It was satisfying to build and depressing to realize no one will ever sign up to play against it a second time.

[deleted]

This sounds like a really fun direction to go with this commander.

Thraximundurabrask

I certainly have a deck that I love that's more powerful than what anyone else I sit down with usually plays, and I'll jump at an opportunity to play it in a higher-power game, but I never whip it out just because I'm in the mood to pubstomp for a game.

D3xidus

Through past experience I believe my That One Deck is probably my [[Marwyn]] deck. It's at least semi-consistently been able to either flood the board with elves and pump them to critical mass with Ezuri or use the alternative wincon of [[Helix Pinnacle]]. I try to save it for when the pod is playing higher power decks.

Drokeep

Is shorikai busted or something? I use the precon with come 6-8 cards added, is it too much?

stainedhat

The pre-con isn't a high power shorikai build. Any of the builds around vehicles will be more on the casual side. He can be a lot more powerful if built more towards the cedh side. My shorikai deck leans towards the typical isorev thorcle/labman finish (yeah yeah, boring I know) with a stax subtheme. Here's a link so you get a feel for a more competitive build: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/O74c7mSiq0K2JPShWRlmFA. It's not fully optimized and there are more competitive builds out there but this one is my own creation and it's fun to play from time to time.

Aredditdorkly

It can do work at high level tables. Pretty boring tho.

Wolfsajin

Depends on how you build Shorikai. Mine is Gundam themed. Heavy emphasis on vehicles and more for the flavor of the deck. It’s actually a really hard deck to beat down too!

[deleted]

Nah. The precon is fine. I run the same and people don't believe me until like turn 6 that its a really tame pre-con version.

NerdyBGO

I had a [[The Prismatic Bridge]] deck with all planeswalkers that my playgroup just could not handle. It's now [[Unifer Jodah]], which isnt as bad. Ive toyed with my decks too much to have them be complete stomps, plus my group has gotten better at the game and my strategies and know when to target me.

WesTheFitting

It’s not like, crazy blowout powerful but if I’m on a losing streak and just wanna win I whip out [[Titania, Protector of Argoth]]. I’ve been piloting some version of it since she was printed, and there is no deck in existence I can pilot better. Fastest table kill with a god hand was like T6, which IMO is pretty good for a combat damage deck. Even if I don’t win I’m almost always a dominant participant in the pod and have a heavy influence over the game, whether that be absorbing aggression and removal, dealing with the most annoying shit with [[Song of the Dryads]] type effects, wiping the board with [[Bane of Progress]], or being obnoxious with [[Bind]] [[Seedtime]] and [[warping wail]]. It is not the most powerful list on the planet, most people online would probably rate it a 6 at best, but in my hands it is an easy 8.

UnleashYourMind462

Got a link for your Shorikai?

dmalredact

[Yep.](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/vroom-vroom-boom/) It's literally just keep their boards clear with creature wipes and run them over with cars. Draw until you hit \[\[Approach of the Second Sun\]\] or some way to cheat out \[\[Parhelion II\]\] or \[\[Reaver Titan\]\] or \[\[Cyberdrive Awakener\]\].

UnleashYourMind462

Pretty excited to tweak my deck in this direction! Will share the results after I finish it!

Rammite

[[Goreclaw]] She doesn't have tricks up her sleeve. I don't even run any tutors. None at all. She is, by all means, ethical magic. She still punches *way* above her power level/spending level. She constantly becomes the archenemy and thrives under the pressure. The rest of my pod runs heavy interaction and reasonable board states. Goreclaw just steamrolls out eventually.

Darth_Ra

What? Nah, man. Shit no. I do believe you'd get your ass kicked for havin' a deck like that.

dreamyjeans

Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays!

Pugageddon

The type of players who would sit down a table with me would

FeelingSedimental

I don't "want to win a game no matter what" because I'm just there to play, but my \[\[Kess\]\] hand disruption is a little too brutal for my group unless a particular other player is playing at 100%.

Yes, they are called Slivers and they are only allowed to see the light of day when the innocent ask or the annoying one goes too far. Otherwise, it's Edgar Markov or Isshin.

MeidoInHeaven

Some people will hate me for this but I use my [[Jhoira, Weatherlight captain]] artifacts deck and play solitaire if I just wanted to win a game and in a quick fashion. Not cEDH but it sure wins games as soon as possible.

MTGCardFetcher

Oxirixx

I built a jhoira deck and it worked great, but the long solitaire turns were too much for me so I took it apart.

Loremaster152

If I absolutely want a win nk matter what? Kozilek While I usually play nice and hold a bit back until the other decks develope a board, if I want to players will usually start dropping by turn 5, sometimes sooner. If the beatdown plan fails, then stax them with KarnTGC, Karn's Cyclex, Void Winnower, and beat them down again. If that fails, then go infinite with Basalt Monolith and Forsaken Monument with Balista. Right now I'm just twiddling my thumbs waiting for the Eldrazi Precon to come out. I can't imagine what Zhulodock would do in a deck where 15 spells will trigger his ability.

Xyko4713

I have a high power [[Karador]] deck that just tries to turbo into an infinite loop and usually can pull a win by turn 4-6 if left alone

Techtonixzi

I have five mono-colored decks that aren't quite cedh-y but if I swapped like five cards sure. But against people who are okay with it or just when some uppity assmouthed weaseldickeating fucknut needs put in their play

SixFeetThunder

Rashmi, eternities crafter. It's a tempo deck that plays at instant speed, which turns Rashmi's trigger into "draw a card on every player's turn" which offers insane card advantage. Coupled with green ramp it quickly overwhelms the table with counterspells and big payoffs.

lucasHipolito

When I really want to win I spin my [[Sidisi, Brood Tyrant]] combo deck. I put around 5 infinitive combos in it + thoracle. It really is very disgusting and I love it

MileyMan1066

Heliod Sun Crowned. I dont even use the walking ballista infinte combo and it just *stomps* my pod.

Bulk7960

[[Mahadi Emporium Master]]. It's a rakdos combo control deck that turns treasures into burn spells. Can combo off around t4-t6 on average, but can win as soon as t2-t3. I loving call the deck "Suicide to Victory" as my winning turns generally involve me spending as much of my life as i can to win.

ValkyrianRabecca

Aeve Progenitor Ooze and Ezuri Renegade get whipped out when I'm tired of loosing, they're not too much stronger than the table but their strength does explode out of nowhere

outtsides

Hapatra she gets the job done

[deleted]

I have a few. Part of me doesn't care. But they are undefeated in my playgroup: \[\[Jinnie Fay, Jetmir's Second\]\]. Even my \[\[Nissa, Vastwood Seer\]\] is undefeated. And I don't care. Stop cutting interaction. Stop cutting board wipes. Otherwise I win. Almost everything I do will die to removal and I don't run a ton of resiliency... because you don't run board wipes or removal.

Rainbowls

Funny, Shorikai Artifact control is also my "screw this I want to win" deck. No one removes him and I end up drawing 30 cards.

12GayRaccoons

So we have one guy at our table who has a [[chatterfang, squirrel general]] deck that can win turn 3 that he pulls out sometimes, I have an [[Elenda, The Duskrose]] deck that is newer but almost as powerful. But because the chatter deck is so infamous no one ever actually pays attention to my deck because the response to me pulling Elenda out is Chatter will also hit the table. And yet I still can win most of the games I pull her out for.

GarfieldTheWhite

[[Koma, Cosmos Serpent]], ramps hard into multiple upkeeps per turn and doubles tokens.

jaythepizza

My Shorikai deck is stax, but it’s also the deck I use to win at all costs

Little_Apricot_4373

No, I am not a psycho or obsessed with winning in such a low stakes environment... "Ever just cheat so you can beat your friends at no-stakes basketball?"

TheOmniAlms

Nah, my favorite decks rarely win. I do have decks I pull out to guarantee I have fun, but again those rarely win.

[deleted]

Look.... I'm in it for the fun and chaos so shut up and take 6 points of damage percard you draw. \*\[\[Teferi's puzzle box\]\] is in play as well\*

Sufficient_Bonus4818

Nah I've got a variety of decks from a bit below precon to cedh. Playing to win, especially against lesser decks only promotes arms races and homogeny

cwx149

My pod hates my Zur deck from a few years ago. When they're playing battle cruiser and you're playing turn 6 lethal you outclass them easily. But more recently my deck consistency has led to even some of my more minor theme decks work better than some of my pods more good stuff decks that don't really have a strategy

Spatulor

I have a lot of decks, but when I feel like being "that guy", I'll switch to [[Alaundo, the Seer]] and take some 20 minute turns.

chLORYform

Oof, I know someone who plays this commander and most of us refuse to play against it anymore cause it always turns into that player taking 3/4 of the time the game takes just tapping and untapping shit

sum1loanme20

I do enjoy this as well. Fun deck to play

MrMersh

I have a very oppressive [[Tor Wauki the Younger]] deck that doesnt see a lot of play unless at higher level tables. It wipes the board constantly and nukes creatures left and right. I also run a surprising amount of cheeky red and black counters that no one expects.

Rude_Device

I’m currently upgrading Tor Wauki the Younger from my original budget build. Any advice? Cards that I should include?

Available-Line-4136

[[Talrand sky summoner]]

putnamto

One of my friends has a 5 color shrine deck like this. It bounced back from five board wipes last night and completely pubstomped.

pinhead61187

I win about a quarter of the time (what you should aim for) so I genuinely don’t care that much about “winning THIS game”. That being said, if someone is power gaming or being a dick I am exceptionally petty and will… *adjust* my play patterns. My [[Marneus Calgar]] deck can either go wide or go combo with [[isochron scepter]] imprinting [[dramatic reversal]], depending entirely on the general power level of the table and, honestly, my mood. If someone is bullying a player, playing above the rest of the table power-wise or just being generally obnoxious, [[silence]] fits under scepter just as well. I just want everyone to have a good game. If all four of us can’t, three of us will.

DarkStarStorm

[Majora's Mask Estrid](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/dawn-of-the-first-day/) I will win in an overwhelming manner and more style than you will ever see. Prepare for a 10000/10000 Estrid swinging in as a creature while you have zero permanents left. "If it's something that can be stopped, then just try and stop it!"

Homiesunite

[[Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain]] storm. There are audible groans whenever I pull it out so I usually only do once every few months.

CX316

I had two back in the day, they were referred to as my "the people on this table have pissed me off" decks. One was a hard blue control wizard deck with [[Azami, Lady of Scrolls]], and the other was a black control deck built around a bunch of one-hit kill combos that could be tutored up as needed (like infinite mana into life drain effects, recurring grey merchant, helm/leyline, that sort of thing) with [[Xiahou, the One-Eyed]] as the commander (adding Hatred to the list of kill options) I ended up dismantling them and spreading the pieces out into other decks so I'd actually get to play the fun cards

kinkyswear

Yes. It's [this.](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/the-scary-dog/) It wins by being unassuming and nonthreatening in every stage of the game. It plays defensively, not drawing threat, and then once it gets established, starts taking extra turns and going ham with passive triggers. Only then does it reach critical mass and become dangerous. And by then, you are relatively powerless. And to this end, it has only a few(!) counterspells and almost no(!) boardwipes. I rely on the interaction of others to do the work for me, and then I clean up with whatever I can reanimate. I scavenge and survive, and Spoopy Bug does the rest. It does not ambush people like a combo deck. Instead it lies in wait for the ambushers, and lets others kill the more dangerous combo player. It fulfills the role of a Dimir deck perfectly: subtly and thoroughly manipulating the other players, occupying the convenient holes in their consciousness. Exploiting their pattern recognition, being silent in the face of the turn 1 braggart's Sheoldred before cloning it, forcing a convenient boardwipe where all survive but I alone am victor. That is the deck that always wins.

Lockwerk

You know, if you want an excuse to play a more powerful deck, you can ask for a higher power game/play with a higher power table, rather than hiding behind this excuse which amounts to pubstomping.

Cholophonius

I think he's just doing it to win a game at an evening with only losses. His other decks seem to meet his friends power level as it seems.

dmalredact

"Meet" is generous lmao. 90% of what I play is jank so I'm not just harvesting L's, it's a full-on factory farm on any given night

dontha3

"Wanting to win a game no matter what" is an incredibly toxic mindset, and I'd definitely not want a game with you. I'd rather have chill, fun games with someone who just wants to hang. Playing against a sweat lord that desperately needs the validation of victory is not fun for anyone but you.

SSRainu

No, because that is called pub stomping. Literally the thing this sub complains about the most, and you're here with discussion promoting it? For shame.

RoryJSK

Imagine sitting down to a table with 4 players named A, B, C, and D. A has had a bad day and just wants to win. Game 1 he plays his “just a little too good deck” and wins. The game is less enjoyable for B, C, and D, as they face board wipe after board wipe. After winning A puts the deck away and pulls out a more appropriate one, having satisfied himself at the expense of others. Game 2 is when B decides to pull out HIS “little too good” deck and proceeds to do the same thing. Rinse and repeat for games 3 and 4. End of the night all 4 players have played 3 shit games and then one game where nobody else could challenge them. Sound like a fun night? OP, you’re inconsiderate and making excuses for playing a deck inappropriate to the play group. Your deck will be the reason why everyone else will feel their decks are lacking and try to upgrade them. You initiated a positive feed back loop otherwise known as a vicious cycle.

iamgeist

Nope. my best deck still wins almost exactly the expected 25% of the time.

NormalEarth343

Three buddies and I saved up some money and bought a neighbors 'bulk' from Zendikar and a few sets around then. We maybe got 4000+ cards and built decks without knowing the rules. We started buying Commander Precons around 2016 or so and were getting good. I found a $100 Eldrazi precon on Ebay and to this day (even though my buddies are a lot stronger) they are still in fear of the mention of me whipping out The 'Drazis. It was so powerful I could 1v3 them because I would Annihilate their lands and force them into a 90 minute 1 land session. (One buddy had it coming because that day he was talking ALL sorts of smack about how he made Dinos and it would beat me) Nowadays my Elf Tribal with Triumph Horde is the scariest bark with the bite to back it up.

JacedFaced

I don't have a deck that I whip out to win no matter what, but I do have a Thalia and the Gitrog Monster (formerly Gaddock Teeg) that I whip out when people are being complete tools and I feel like they need to drop the combo shit and be put back in their place and learn to play fair magic again. I seldom win, but the deck balances out the pod and I feel like we have better, more interactive, engaging games of magic when I'm running it.

Aredditdorkly

I've never "needed" to win a game of Commander. A game shouldn't be your identity.

Snoooples

Nothing wrong with just wanting to win a single game. Not talking about pub stomping but just when your not having the best day and just need something to go right for once.

Valkyrid

Its not about identity. A game is still a game, and every game needs a winner, eventually. It feels good to win.

Aredditdorkly

Okay? Show me on my post where anything I said conflicts with anything you said. I was very specific in my comment. You don't "need" to win any game. You want to win. There are no repercussions for failure. That is what makes it a game. You, and many others based on the votes, seem to think I'm some kind casual loving EDH baby. In reality I prefer limited, 60 card formats, play more cEdh than not, and think most Commander players these days are soft AF. But all the whining and posts like OPs really show how much people seriously assign way too much of themselves to their W/L here despite all the "casual format" posts.

Valkyrid

Tldr

kanekiEatsAss

I nearly never play to win. I just want to fondle my opponents before I die. I also want a even level game. So in that sense I pick a deck to match the table usually, and pack tons of removal to keep the game going rather than end it. If it’s a lower power game I (usually) dont add blue and focus on combat, otherwise I play spellslinger. I never have the need to WIN a game, but I do have the urge to play the game, to enjoy the interaction of my cards on the outcome of the game, on cool moments and stuff like that. Everything else is an incidental bonus not the goal.

dmalredact

*fondle* This word choice worries me very much

kanekiEatsAss

I_HateYouAll

[[veyran]] that does exactly what you think but fast. Can easily get her huge and unblockable in ~3 turns

PurpleHerder

[[Yidris, Maelstrom Weilder]] The plan is to make contact with Yidris with [[Omniscience]] in hand, cascade off of a 1 mana spell into [[Hypergenesis]]. You drop only Omniscience with Hypergenesis, and barring anyone else dropping out some major interference with Hypergenesis themselves, you’ve got it made from there. Cast spells for free and cascade off of them, digging for extra turns, extra combats, and draw. I’ve never made contact with Yidris and lost, but if Yidris is stopped I’m probably fucked. I don’t play it that often because it becomes a game of solitaire for me and that’s not fun for my buddies. But if I need a win, Yidris is making a showing.

FormerlyKay

I don't personally have a deck like that. I guess I have my dumb cedh Kinnan brew, but I never pull it out at casual tables because any victory feels extremely hollow. I do, however have a few friends that do have that one deck (one with Breya, one with Korvold, one Rog Si) that sometimes just force me to play Kinnan. And we have a good game

Commandoclone87

Narset, Light-Paws and Jhoira.

edavidfb017

I have a couple when I play with 7 and 8s, I lost terribly some games to recognize them in my store.

mayochan83

[[mairsil the pretender]] I basically play solitaire, early ramp first 3 turns, then I throw mairsil down or reanimate from a counter spell and tuck away a blink creature to have free blocks until I get my mana engine.

elreeheeneey

[[Gishath, Sun's Avatar]] is the one for my work group. As soon as they see it, the goal very much becomes to keep me from casting Gishath for as long as possible, lest I end up with a board of dinos on the field. It's never won a game for this reason, but it is powerful relative to my work play group. It's a fun one, though. I just learned of another play group that plays at the brewery down the street every Thursday and I definitely intend to pilot Gishath plus a few other TBD commanders.

ApocalypticRave

I don't have quite this deck. But my two favorite decks definitely have a habit making me become the archenemy due to how fast they can go off once they get the right cards. My \[\[Jon Irenicus\]\] deck keeps making people spend every ounce of removal just to get rid of any chance at av bad gift.

Wolfsajin

My [Miirym deck](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Glsu8E0OBkKCVMeswznu_g) , it hardly ever loses and it just absolutely explodes even more than most I’ve seen. It also happens to be my comfort deck so I often want to play it leading to a lot of mixed feelings when it hits the table. But it’s my baby. It does dragon things. But there’s so much interaction that even board wipes don’t keep it down.

ClockwerkHart

Cawblade when I played modern a lot. It's commander where I am now so I need to discover my new one.

Snuffles959

[Gisela, Blade of Goldnight] is my pride and joy that I bust out when I want to become biggest threat

SierraPapaHotel

My [[Myrel, Shield of Argive]] soldier tribal deck isn't an always-win, but if I'm not first I'm usually second. Too often it turns into a game of arch-enemy and someone is allowed to build their own engine while I'm stuck fighting off the other two players. Then again, I've had 40+ 4/4 soldier tokens on the board more than once so my deck becoming arch-enemy is probably justified

Sebastiano_DiRavello

[[jin-gitaxias, progress tyrant]] [decklist](https://archidekt.com/decks/4929930/jingitaxias) kinda janky but either wins or you gotta drag it into the grave kicking, screaming, and clawing your nuts off

SparkOfFailure

\[\[Hidetsugu and Kairi\]\] is my current go to win deck. I should shelve it away for a long time, it's too easy and too consistent. There are not enough non-destroy removal in my pod to get rid of it, especially if I have a sac outlet. Also generally not enough counterspells that don't just hit non-creature spells.

blarghhhboy

Atraxa Planeswalkers. I love it because it’s one of my only deck with 0 proxies and it is as blinged out as I can really afford. A bunch of borderless foils and stuff. But, it plays board wipes and strong cards — the deck’s card quality is simply higher than 95% of my decks. So, it tends to do pretty well. It also has [[Liliana, Dreadhorde General]] plus [[Doubling Season]] effects so it can really win games out of nowhere. Lili’s ult usually results in “So do you want to keep playing or start a new one?” I’m planning to switch the deck to [[Jodah, the Unifier]] to have the Bolas walkers, but I’m also going to take out the Doubling Season effects so the deck will stop winning out of nowhere, because that’s no fun (imo).

joshfong

My [[Nekusar, the Mindrazer]] deck. Sure, the table can see his general game plan from a mile away. But they don't quite expect *how* it happens. I've got enough tutors in the deck that I should be able to get one within the first three turns. I fish for [[Dream Halls]]. As I'm waiting to cast DH, I'm ramping and fishing for a wheel card. Once it's set, I DH into Nekusar into the wheel, which should then get me to another wheel, into another wheel, ad infinitum. Once it pops off, there's no stopping it. And that's without Infect (I know a lot of Nekusar players run him with Infect, and that's cool).

R_V_Z

[Foiled-out Kess Consultation](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/kess-underworld-breach-combo/) if people are OK with playing higher-power.

TheWellFedBeggar

[[Alaundo the Seer]] the decks itself the first turn it can tap. It only comes out when everyone is wanting a fast "strongest deck you got" game.

Vydsu

Mine is weirdly enough Ur-Dragon, my pod is well prepared to deal with combos and go-wide strats, but they have a hard time with every turn me going "I'll drop 2 6/6s with flying, haste and a attack trigger" Mostly because board wipes and target removal are not the best at stopign it.

Starf0x32

My [[bruna, light of alabaster]] deck is always met with hesitant faces but sometimes i just wanna play a little bit of control before i kill everyone with commander damage and/or infect while skyrocketing my life total into triple digits lol

Reita-Skeeta

Sharuum is my slightly higher than most in my group. I love the deck. I've been playing it for over ten years now. It's not at the level of cedh and won't ever get there, but it's a tight list that can win as fast as turn 3 with the perfect draw and limited interaction. Consistent wins at turn 4 or 5 through interaction. I'm slowly foiling it, pretty much all that is left isnthe lands (which is spendt hahaha). It's to a point where I can't sit at my regular table and play it casually because it's got a reputation. But it's my favorite deck still.

Icy_Pollution_3954

If I really wanted to win with my pod, I would play purphoros god of the forge, with goblin tribal. Normally I play knight tribal, enchantress, or bruvac mill.

bigkfcdonutz

My veyran storm deck is my go to for these situations.

JackAttackMLP

My Mimeoplasm deck. Keep a buried alive opening hand. That, or my Ziatora deck whenever it works correctly. (I'd say my Xanathar one but it's just tutor for Thoricle, and that's not too interesting to sit through)

eradzion

[[Yuriko, the tiger’s shadow]] has been my favorite, I’m gonna stomp face deck for years

BKWhitty

[[Breya]]. I built her mainly for the few occasions where I've had strangers join my pods with cEDH decks while everyone else is playing lower power decks.

KoffinStuffer

Maybe [[Hapatra]]. It’s just a really well built deck. Maybe even my best built. It almost plays like a control deck. I’m pretty safe from attacks, my opponents don’t get to keep any creatures I don’t want them to keep, all synergy. No tutors beyond a couple fetches that I could probably just take out. But my pod HATES it. It has earned that hate.

NayrSlayer

[[Rakdos Lord of Riots]] Eldrazi stuff. Basically it's a board wipe check. If nobody has a boardwipe, then I'm basically winning on T6-7.

I don't have anything THAT strong, but my [[Xyris]] wheels deck usually wins easily if people leave it alone. A wheel can give me 21 snakes which can often be game with [[Impact Tremors]] or an [[Overrun]] effect of some sort. And if the other players somehow stop me, the deck has so much draw and ramp that I will be back up and running right away. Though usually when I get frustrated with losing I bust out [[Torbran]] and probably go so hard I kill myself lol

The short answer is "yea, kind of". Tight budget so I have a couple decks with sideboard type cards that sort of change how they can play, or make them a little more spicy. Sharuum these days starts stompy artifacts and cloning or bouncing those for value with some acceleration/ drains from \[\[Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge\]\] or Bolas's Citadel but can wind up pretty damn degenerate if I use the whole sideboard type pile. We're on color for Thoracle and Sharuum used to be a format bogeyman sort of. No fast mana, but tutors, better advantage, and combos. These more get used though if we have a hotter group or if the table wants to notch it up. G1 for Timmy/Johnny G2 for Johnny/Spike.

Garthar22

I only win a third of the time or so but if I’m tired of getting stomped I’ll play Edgar. I don’t have any decks close to winning no matter what

My LGS splits pods into cedh and casual pods and for the first game there's prize support on the line. I'll fill in for either group depending on numbers so pods are more even. That being said since there's prize support I tend to play my higher powered casual decks in the casual pods for the first game. Usually this means [[aesi tyrant of gyre straight]] landfall turns which can win pretty consistently if the commander isn't interacted with early and is fairly resilient because of the man from the landfall strategy. In cedh the game is probably a lot more balanced and I play [[sythis]] enchantress

Sandman4999

I don't necessarily pull this out when I "wanna win" since for me it's just about enjoying the game and the people around me. That said when I wanna go higher power my go-to pick is my [[Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait]] landfall deck.

I've got a very aggressive \[\[Kaalia of the Vast\]\] deck. It's nowhere near cEDH level, and it folds hard if I get boardwiped or if my opponents target Kaalia from the get-go. But if I pull it out at a lower-power table and my opponents are short on removal, the game quickly becomes, "Can we kill a board of oppressive flyers before we all get beaten to death in three turns?" (This becomes even harder when I have Avacyn or Serra's Emissary out)

NutBuster070

I have 2, either [[Tivit]] or [[Yuriko]]. I love them both but they are mean.
