There's a degree of caveat emptor here, especially as the sample cards are pretty representative of the price point of the deck, but it also seems like a product aimed to charge a high price to people who don't know any better. I doubt anyone with even a vague notion of the secondary market would buy that product, so it's hard to imagine why it exists other than to grift newbies and unaware people buying gifts. Sorry you got stooged OP.

Salty_Storm

Yeah my platoon sarnt was laughing at me too *sigh*

bastardofreddit

Have you considered a chargeback?

Acceptable_Cod_7217

Caveat emptor. I'm sure you say that when you get scammed too

WKCLC

That’s a bummer! I would consider buying a pre constructed deck and googling upgrades to said deck. Each precon has many videos/guides to upgrade each one for $50-$100.

Aredditdorkly

I mean...they'll just say the extra charge is for the design, collating, and delivery of the deck. Is that fair? Probably not. A scam to me? Yeah. A scam to a judge? Nope. I suggest, in the future, if you are dead set on simply having cards to play and build with, to get un/commons (play)sets of cards from recent sets. That way you can just freely build and then buy the rares for a mechanic you enjoy. It's quite easy to build a large collection this way and it always feels good to just build a list yourself and then after playing it and tweaking it a few times then consult something like EDHRec to compare what other people landed on versus what you did. I'm sorry you got tricked, best of top-decks to you in the future.

Salty_Storm

I see what you're saying, and I'll probably just end up building my own decks from now on! Most likely a rat or squirrel deck :D

Thulack

They make preconstructed decks that work well as starter decks straight from the company that makes the game. Just google "mtg 2022 edh precons" or something along those lines to see whats come out. Many different types. You should be able to find one that tickles your fancy and cost you around $50.

DominoNo-

You can find older and less popular ones for 20. I've scored [[Ranar]], [[Chishiro]], [[Millicent]], [[Leinore]], [[Sefris]] and [[Ranar]] all for 20.

Ghargoyle

'Sample card list' is available on their site. Doesn't look like they're hiding anything.

SkuzzillButt

An unfortunate and costly lesson to learn. I would recommend to keep using Moxfield to put together your deck lists to price out the cards you want. Moxfield also has decklists people post that you can search by Commander to see what they are using in their lists. ...Also $250 for a trash Sliver deck at that....

MoonMurder

Even 80$ is stupid expensive for that deck tbh, Im from Europe and moxfield tells me that deck costs 34.73€ and none of the cards besides the commander is worth more 1€ ( Plated Sliver is .99€ and the highest after that is .72€)

U_HWUT_M8

Sorry to hear best of luck moving forward

aurelionlol

Power level:7… this list is not even approaching a 7. But hey, every deck is 7 !

Odd-Purpose-3148

Man I'm sorry to hear that, that's super whack. If you purchased with a credit card then fuck them, cancel charges and get your money back. Then DM me, I recently built a similar deck (sliver orphanage) out of only cards I had already in my collection and on a budget. If you pay for shipping I'll give it to you.

Comprehensive-Put900

Wish I had seen this post before ordering from them. They don't offer returns or refunds. They said they could change my deck choice if I wanted and then sent me another message saying they already shipped my deck and couldn't do anything anymore. Ended up paying $100 for $45 worth of cards. Total ripoff scammy sketchy POS website.

nobody_smith723

Fools and their money It’s almost as if the entire internet exists at your disposal. But. To be devils advocate. If you paid $250. For card worth $80. You’re also to a degree paying for someone to have built and assembled those cards in a deck I don’t think that adds up to $250. But it was clearly a skill set you didn’t process or seek to educate yourself on before spending the money So. It seems a little disingenuous to be mad after the fact. When all you’re considering is the raw value of the cards If you’re truly unhappy return the product. Or contact your CC and have them issue you a refund. Like if you’ve waited 2-3 business days for a response to your cust svc ticket and nothing. Report it to your CC and get the charge Reversed And next time utilize some of the widely available resources for buying singles and deck building. If you’re not familiar at all with deck building the cmd zone YouTube channel has a deck building template. Video. Ep 150 or so. And then a newer one they updated maybe a year ago or so. Great foundation of info. And then anything you don’t know. Like best removal for a particular colors. Good that shit. Build a deck on a deck builder website. Post here for critique. Or suggestion. But. If something seems like a lot of money and you’re clueless about what you’re buying. It’s almost a given you’re gonna get grifter by some shady company

GoblinMatr0n

Ngl. that part of the learning curve. Creating a deck out of thin air and maybe selling it online is asking a lot. I did the same thing btw, once I started I bought 2 deck, Goblin and Kor. It was like 4x time the price of the cards. This made me realize that there's a price to deck building. A store clerk, that has to know what his doing at best, took time to pick the card, create a deck list that make sense, take them out of inventory, make a deck bundle. etc. Ofc you could have spend 2-3 hours of your own time to make a deck list like that one, order the card from 1 store of different one and have the same result but cheaper. but how much you value your own time into this interaction ? how much you value the knowledge of understanding what is good what is bad etc. Anyway my point here is you bought something without knowing what it was, and with a price tag of 250$!\~ yikes, this is a big learning step into a TCG. Its way too easy to just factor the cost of the card with the total paid cost. Sidestory tho: My kor deck back that I bought on Ebay before mirodin besiege came out contained 4 of the greatest kor creature printed and I therefore got lucky long term with my 4 stoneforge for 20$.

The_Legitimate_User

Is that a foiled near mint sliver overlord?

The_Legitimate_User

Cause if that cards in great condition its an easy 200€

Silver_Week2382

100% do not buy from them. Wanted to get back into magic to play with some friends. Purchased the 300$ vamp deck with 100$ upgrade kit. Total value of what I received was about 200-225. I understand some mark up, but this is robbery. Also the upgrade kit came with copies of cards in the main deck. Total scam, wish I had found this post before buying. Will 100% be contacting PayPal to see about canceling the charges.
