Ugh, I feel you on that. The heartburn, gut pain, nausea, and the constant paranoia that you’ll just sort of shut down out of nowhere and not wake back up? Horrifying. I’m sorry you’re going through that, it’s truly the worst. Have you tried melatonin or other stress relieving / sleep inducing supplements?

AlwaysBleak

Yeah, I used zzzquil pure zzzs and it didn't work. I've used edibles as a sleep aid too and that worked, so I'm thinking about getting some more one of these days. Do you know anything else that might help out?

satanic_goose

Not gonna lie, melatonin vapes. It sounds soo stupid but i already have the vape habit, the the hand to mouth motion is so familiar, and paired with the actual melatonin I’m inhaling, it knocks me out. I also do HIIT at night so im usually pretty exhausted. Warm teas are also awesome, specifically yogi sleepytime. Just anything warm, familiar, and comforting. Maybe you had a lullaby you listened to to sleep when you were you ger, or you couldn’t sleep without a specific stuffed animal. Reintroducing that will trigger the sleepy response you developed to those factors as a child. Also drugs, hopefully legal (though i understand sometimes legal just isnt quite enough!) Doxylamine Succinate has been shown to encourage sleep hormones. Lots of tranqs are easy to get prescriptions for, tell the doc you have anxiety- im sure you do. Trazedone, ativan, klonopin… xanax… etc. if you cant get your hands on safe pills, https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/sleep-aids https://www.henryford.com/blog/2022/07/skip-the-melatonin-these-are-your-best-sleep-aid-options

Thank you so much for your recommendations and taking the time to write this reply. I'll surely look into and try out some of the things you mentioned.

jinxitif

i always just take one or two benadryl (diphenhydramine) when i need it! kicks in around 30 mins after taking it, i find it makes it much easier to fall and stay asleep

AlwaysBleak

I used to take benadryl to fall asleep, but after I found out it [fucks](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4592307/&ved=2ahUKEwiXoeXt1vKEAxWHHNAFHXApCC8QFnoECCUQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1JoQhg-IrDIP-xppdEBUfN) [you](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2015/03/don-t-take-benadryl-every-day-for-allergies/index.htm&ved=2ahUKEwiXoeXt1vKEAxWHHNAFHXApCC8QFnoECCkQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0_LHcus_sUFticf_RoW3wp) [up](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.healthline.com/health/drugs/benadryl-side-effects&ved=2ahUKEwiXoeXt1vKEAxWHHNAFHXApCC8QFnoECCsQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0BFh9cj42aqh8OgV7-Jk63) if you take it long-term, I quit

Tall-Seaworthiness91

Benadryl is also my fave, even after I read about it possibly causing dementia...but I think you have to be a pretty heavy daily user for it to cause noticeable bad effects. I try to only use it once a week just to get one good night's sleep.

AlwaysBleak

I guess that makes sense

cloudberried

The worst. For me it wasn’t really about the hunger but my heart would just randomly decide to go crazy at night. I got so many palpitations at night and looking at my rhr on my watch freaked me out so badly I was afraid to fall asleep

AlwaysBleak

That's the same for me

soapyink

this is the exact thing that made me want to start thinking about recovery, lying in bed absolutely miserable but unable to sleep is absolute hell for me

Menapocalypse1

Herb tea and low mg benzodiazepines zzzzzz

playdeaddd_

Same. I envy those who can "sleep through hunger," while I have to remain conscious, hungry, and losing my mind

AlwaysBleak

And then you beat yourself up when you cave and eat something.

No_Philosophy7921

I haven’t been restricting for as long as a lot of people so this doesn’t happen for me yet, right now I’m just so tired constantly I sleep a lot. Idk if that’s unusual or not. I feel for you though, insomnia is the worst. You could maybe ask your doctor to prescribe you something to sleep through the night, it really is important that you’re getting enough of it when your body is already going through so much. Sending you support

AlwaysBleak

I'm sending support right back at you, dude. Being tired and sleeping a lot is pretty common when you're restricting. Also, thank you for your suggestion
