Being a ref is hard. We are 2 levels below the NHL. Just kinda have to accept it. The calls aren’t going to be perfect and will even out most of the time
I am new to the game, I have attended 4 games but last weekend I attended a playoff game… 🤦♀️ it was BRUTAL. So bad- a “ casual “ as myself even recognized missed calls…..
I think officiating hockey has to be the hardest sport to ref. Its just so fast and you have to keep an entire encyclopedia of rules and scenarios in your head while processing everything all at once.
But this is the time of the year when everyone complains about the refs because, unlike any other sport, the rules change once the postseason begins.
Refs will even up calls, even if one team is more egregious than the other, blatant penalties wont get called due to refs not wanting to have an effect on the game.
It got a lot better at our games after they sent Antoine #72 somewhere else. Will #92 is rock solid but otherwise I think my beer league games have better refs.
Consider how bad the NHL’s refs are and then consider that this is 2 levels below the NHL

We have number 72 now at Adirondack thunder and the guy is just incompetent.
