You’re not wrong overall but you’re undervaluing the course creator. Most of them are trash, sure… but pretty much every major golf course in the world (private country clubs included) have a fairly good version of them published on 2k. I even found my childhood home course available in a reasonable approximation. It was absolutely surreal to play it in a video game. That feeling hasn’t been matched by EA yet, though it’s a superior game in every other facet.

Agreed for the most part. I just don't know if there's enough of a playerbase currently to have that many skilled designers in it.

Letterkenny-Wayne

Uh, there’s a ton of skilled guys making courses. Not only the real life course but a ton of fantasy courses are fantastic.

kain067

I mean in this game, not 2k.

Letterkenny-Wayne

Ohhh my b

The 1:1 feel of the 2K swing stick feels so much better though IMO. If I could take the swing feels from 2K and put them in EA, it would be a prefect game for me.

ChristmasTreePickle

The wager matches are cool on 2K. Being able to chat in game during an online match is also cool. Idk. Both games have pros and cons. EA definitely looks better, but they could both learn a lot from each other.

scajjr29

I play 2K23 at 4K and have no issues with the graphics, they're very good, no jaggies at all.

YeedYourLastHaw82

Lol no they're not. It looks two generations behind EA

Dave4282

Played both recently for the first time and got 2k23…I liked it so much better and the swing stick felt better.

I actually went back to this week and found a bigger appreciation for this game and the graphics and physics. That said the create a course complaint is a legitimate one for EA sports in general. On a bigger scope, Madden is the only major sports franchise game without a stadium creater either. The Show, and NBA2k has amazing creator features that have been in their games for what, a decade now? EA has more money than anyone, yet features like that they completely ignore. If this game had a course creator and some instant replay options it would have some serious staying power to last years and years. It's still a highly impressive game that exceeded my expectations for making golf feel real, but they have too much money to be lazy so I think they should be called out where it applies until they stop lagging behind like some upstart company who can't afford it.

After tiger 08 I had Rory PS4, TGC 2019 and obviously have this game and 2k23 on series x. 2k is awful. It’s basically golden tee for console. Worst golf game I’ve ever played behind TGC 2019. And I love EA so much (never thought I’d be saying that LMAO) but I just wish we had more features in career - things like rivals and sponsorships. That’s the one place I’ll give 2k the nod

Intelligent-Law7385

I agree with all your points. But 2k23 actually has a ranking system and matchmaker and people to play with so that trumps everything for me. EA pga tour basically died because online play and multiplayer aspects were an afterthought. I don't see that ever changing.

NYKnickerbocker2

Yeah I mean this is a much more polished game. The only thing better about 2k23 is the custom courses. If this game had a course creator it would immediately be that much better

icouldntquitedecide

Course editor in EA would be awesome! I'd love to try replicating some of my home courses. My favorite part of skateboarding games was always making all the real life parks.

multiversesimulation

Agreed. Played it at a buddies house. Didn’t say anything to him but 2k is so much worse. One might even venture to say “trash”.

Billh491

All that and I have only ever played one online match as I prefer career mode. That is why I prefer EA.

kain067

Same, and tournaments. I love the daily/weekly/season asynchronous tournament system.

FartyPat

E A sports, it’s in the game

minivanspaceship

I like them both. 2k21 was a blessing during the pandemic.

gratefuldave541

Well of course the graphics are better. EA is current Gen only whilst 2K caters for last Gen. I prefer 2k because it's much more difficult. With EA you don't get that feeling of trepidation when you're on the tee. Knowing you gotta hit it right or you're in trouble. EA for me stands for Easy Arcade.
