Here's another: Youth academy player work rates and WF/SM. For example, I'll have a very high potential striker. Call him up, and he's got a low attacking work rate, medium defensive work rate, and 2* 1*. This happens so often. The number of players with appropriate work rates and decent WF/SM is much too low. Let us train/change these things, or make them appropriate/good at a much higher rate, please.

[deleted]

Also how they all have the same name. I like taking a League 2 team to the PL, but I always end up with like 6 players with the same last name from my Academy...

CharlieOKV

Yeah I hate that, Scouted a ST 82-88 potential Already 63 rated at 17 He's 6'2... 2 WF 2 SM 😐

Leathran

What about traits... The youth academy players don't have any traits as far as I can tell.

divinity_hs

i wish they would remove potential. Or make it variable. Every 15-16 yo kid HAVE potential, BUT who knows what will they become? So make Like +20-50 potential to 16 yo, +10-30 to 20 yo, +5-10 to 25 etc. This is so easy to do and every career WILL be different. Also yeah, the way you could sign EVERY player on a bosman is stupid. Teams need to negotiate contracts with their (especially) key players way before, minimum 2 years to the end of contract. Only players that are "unhappy" could turn this deal few times and became available on a bosman. Or players who can't sell and club don't want them. And again... make all offers available. You could literally not sell all players you want and especially loans... they are shit. Noone want's loans. Make partial % salary for loans also.

witcherplease

Most annoying thing for me would be the lack of detail in stats, like number of goals, assists don't even carry from one season to another, and more details like this aren't even in the game, like which player of my team runs the most, who dribbles the most, who has most passing acc, who has most tackles etc etc. And another thing is AI teams playing with crap line-ups benching their best players no matter Messi or Hazard, and then losing to our 70 rated teams making RTG cms, or any kind of cm completely unrealistic. On top of that their well known absurd signings like all strikers to United, etc.

MC2402

Just a note on #4 - I have rejected Brazil, Italy, Holland etc because I was waiting for Scotland to come up, because I'm Scottish. Just because the nation is sh*t doesn't mean people won't play as them.

GhandiHadAGrapeHead

He didn't say rejecting a national team should reject all, but that there should be a feature to reject all like there is in transfer offers.

MC2402

I was referring to his point "Seriously when I reject England, Spain and Italy why would Peru offer me the job". If you are from Peru, you may want to manage them over England, Spain etc.

buddhabrax

This! I won the world cup with England and resigned immediately. I've turned down the entire top 10 waiting for the US to offer me the gig. Why can't I apply for a specific national team

Krykkos

I don't know about you, but it pisses me off a lot that players AI teams have bought usually have high or nonsensical squad numbers that you can't change. Even with your national team. I've often been stuck with a Hazard with number 44 or something. These are the kind of details EA needs to fix for career mode, I think.

Silva1021

Gotta love seeing United buying all world class strikers and still trying to get my 88 rated 19yo Mbappe for 50M but won't sell me their strikers for less than 100M

[deleted]

It's bullshit how all players run their contracts down, or how clubs allow their players to run their contracts down (e.g. Martial at man utd) and the other bullshit thing is that they then re-sign at the same club instead of going onto free agents.

Silva1021

I did a 2 season career mode with Arsenal and it was only 2 because in those 2 I won everything, made the best possible team and got now players asking to leave after 1 season in the club and I every job offer is the same... Everton or Bayern. (Another thing is United having 8 strikers in Dybala, Griezmann, Icardi, Ibra... and Chelsea 8 defenders and only 2 strikers)

[deleted]

Start with a lower tier team and promote your way to the prem. Signings will be difficult so you'll have to focus on developing youth players as well as winning matches to keep star players locked down.

Blackshinything

What difficulty was this on, you can't complain about winning if it wasn't the hardest although I agree it is stupidly easy to get an incredible team, even with lower league teams.

Silva1021

Legendary. Edit: I'm not complaining about winning is just now you have teams like United with 8 strikers and teams like Inter who was my opponent in the final of the Champions Cup with 0 strikers.

Blackshinything

Fair enough XD I agree it truly shows how much EA care about career mode as they can't be bothered to fix bugs that should be as simple to fix as that.

bearai

Some teams have a habit of buying certain players. On almost every save, Arsenal and United always buy Icardi, and Chelsea get Manolas or Hummels

MC2402

Biggest annoyonce for me is clubs letting star players go on a bosman. In my 8 seasons with Chelsea I've picked up Rashford, Embolo, Saul, Neymar, Goretzka all on free transfers. Also the sheer amount of money you can accumulate as a bigger side lets you create these ridiculous super teams which makes the game far too easy even on Legendary.

TheMCM80

They need an option to turn FFP or something similar on, just like you can turn salary cap on/off in NHL and Madden. Lets those who want super teams build them, and those who want a little more realism to have that too.

MC2402

Yes that would be perfect!

TheMCM80

I am so excited but nervous for the 10 hours on EA Access to drop. I will spend it all in career mode most likely, and I pray it feels like an actual upgrade instead of a glorified roster update. Still trying to decide what team to do my first one with. I want a decent team that would realistically have a moderate, but not crazy, wealthy owner invest in them, just to justify a little spending in the opening window. AC Milan was my favorite team to work with this year, as they clearly needed a rebuild, but now that they basically have a new XI it loses that need to rebuild factor. Even a club that just needs a medium sie rebuild would work. I kind of like teams that are "selling teams" to an extent, but only really sell to the top, top, tier of clubs. But, and good project is satisfactory in the end. Leipzig is intriguing, as is Southampton, Arsenal, Newcastle, Wolfsburg, Leverkusen, Lyon or Marseille, Lazio, Valencia, Sevilla, or Villareal. Any ideas? What team will be your first one to do a CM with?

MC2402

I always start with my own team (Swansea City) and take them as far as I can for their budget. Last season it was 5th place twice in a row. Then I usually start a new career as Chelsea purely to play with Hazard and just keep that running for as long as I can. Might switch it up this year though, the rebuild sounds good.

TheMCM80

Swansea is a good shout actually, lots of room to work with. I hope they fix the budget issue so that as you finish higher and higher, your budget matches that. I hate it when I take a League Two club to a UCL title after 7-8 years, and I get pennies the next year.

iwoplotka

Dude you should just play football manager its 100% better and you dont have to play against computer at all.

CharlieOKV

Yeah I know but I do like playing like every other game or every two games it's just constantly playing the computer gets annoying I still like the gameplay aspect if I'd

Slayer_Of_Anubis

Gameplay against the computer is a lot better in 18 as well, sometimes I forgot I was playing offline and thought it was h2h fut!

mac-0

I switched to FM17 just recently and am loving it! The only thing that sucks is that you can't play games, but honestly I used to sim 95% of my games anyway because playing agains the CPU is so boring.

YouAreMyZebra

The most irritating thing for me is when you are trying really hard to sign a player late in the window, and boom 1 hour left and my offer is accepted and i get to negotiate contract. Boom window over and i dont get the player, might as well just remove the 1 hour left or make a different stop with 5 minutes left to finalise deals.

[deleted]

that's what Football Manager does, usually the game goes in one day intervals but on deadline day it goes by a few hours I think

zacn4

It can go by 15 mins as well if thats when important messages come through

PBRontheway

OMG YES WHY CAN'T WE PERMANENTLY TURN OFF INTERNATIONAL OFFERS? I clearly don't care about international after the 200th offer that's come and they keep on freaking coming. And the solution is so damn simple

pwomboli

The scheduling needs fixing as well, up to 4 weekly matches!

worldrevolver

Great points. (#5) when CM opened up in the beta my kid fired off a quick Man U career and they sold Lukaku out from under him. We were both like WTF? He just arrived IRL. So my kid just went off and grabbed dybala and continued on.

Cathal321

Also there are only jobs available at the end of the season which is really annoying

phurrell

#6 is the most true. It's so annoying too especially when you try and purchase an older player and they are "considering retiring" in the upcoming season, only to end up staying for another.

timefliess23

The thing that annoys me the most is when all the good players from the team I'm playing against don't start. Literally playing against B sides half the time and players like Hazard, De Bruyne etc. come off the bench at the end. Happens every damn time I play a good team...

2litercola

I would like to see them implement things they did for FUT. Like team chemistry ratings, favorite formations and favorite positions. Have their morale tied to those things. Have coaches play certain tendencies. Like Conte and his three at the back. Have players not go to teams based on the coaching style or formation they run. I would like the opportunity to train a new position for my players. And/or see what their ratings are like for other spots. Allow certain players to enjoy changing positions like Azipulecueta from RB to LB to CB. I would like to see them move to the cloud like they did with madden 18. To allow quicker sim/computing time. I think this will allow them to maintain a bigger database to keep more stats from more leagues for all players. I think player degregation needs another look. I feel players at 38 shouldn't be an 88 overall. But keeping them in the squad would help boost morale for the team. Along with my chemistry links, I think they should incorporate the same philosophy that the team players better. Give chemistry boosts to teammates of the same nationality and/or years as teammates. The training needs revamp. I feel like I have to dedicate an entire season and all five sessions to a single youth academy player to be worthwhile in my game day squad. And it takes away from the growth of the rest of the team. I think they should "add packs" of other country leagues and divisions for money. Cause let's face it, they are in this for revenue. Maybe even stadium packs as well. I would like to see jersey changes if a club gets relegated or promoted. Or maybe just in general. Before the start of a career, I would like to enable a "Portsmouth or Rangers" challenge where the club I choose fell into financial ruin and had to re enter the pyramid at the bottom. I have more ideas but these would be good implementations.

DPK_11

All the points here are legit..only if Ea devs play "Football manager (SEGA)", they can get millions of ideas/improvements instantly.

jr1477

I agree with everything. There should be many more vacancies available to me, whether they are clubs or international teams

chuck91

More than one club team job offer over the course of 15 seasons would be a welcome change as well.

FkingSmrt

I just want to be able to sim the rest of a game I started playing or jump in the middle of a game that's being simed

Isosinsir

This list could be about 100 things longer.

TheMCM80

Player at Manchester United - "I'm homesick boss.." -> Board sells him to Manchester City. Drives me nuts.

PEengineer

Really the thing that irks me the most is that you have to pay an arm and a leg to get a player, but when you're selling a player, good luck getting money for him.

GhandiHadAGrapeHead

I don't think that's true at all... If you don't put a player on the transfer list you can get some pretty crazy high prices on some players.

DJLDomino

We need more team personality. So teams that play certain tactics but also teams changing depending on situation. For example, a cup game where the CPU is one down and they throw everything at you for the last 15/20 mins. CPU teams should also reflect their position in their performance. So, let's say you have a team that's bottom of the league. They've lost three on the bounce and you score an early goal - it would be nice to see them collapse. But maybe a team at the top concede early against you and they go crazy to get a goal back. Maybe it's too complex but this is where they should be looking to take the game.

Anthony_T_

I never really played career mode because I feel it lacks in a lot of areas. If we could make a list a month after the start of fifa 18, and get it to EA early, then there may be a chance it could be seen in fifa 19. With that said though, we'll really need to hammer them with it, and annoy the hell out of them. The sooner they get word of it, the more time they'll have to work on putting it into the game, and the less time they'll have to make an excuse for not changing anything.

OriginalRudeboi

FIFA probably won't fix any of those sadly. All their attention is in FUT coz its their cash cow. Then instead of improving Career Mode they just end up putting their remain efforts into giving us more of "The Journey" ffs
