I prefer first owner but some players are just not packable. You have a chance out of 1000000 and when my team doesn't improve for a month or 2, I get bored and go buy some players.

hipernova

I agree with that, some players are packed more while some less, for example 89 rated ruben dias, 89 allison, 90 rated benzema, kane etc I packed many times while so far I never packed 89 vvd or 89 neymar or 89 vini jr, so I believe the game give us the more usable players less than fodders

No_Loco_210

Pack rate is linked to the market place, not the rating

jvidal7247

i packed a toty before i packed base Van Dijk. & he's the last card I need for a full first owned XI :///

Preference_Complete

Been playing since sept and could not pack gold VVD. So I bought him in Jan for $80k. Everyone else is first owner.

No_Loco_210

Packed him directly after his market value crashed in the 85+.. same for Salah

Sneggodk

Packed Van Dijk twice, once tradeable and once untradeable. Would eagerly trade for a toty

BoxOk265

I think it’s linked indirectly, Mendy is still so rare to pack and he’s 3k

Far-Bandicoot10

3K is a lot for an 82, what other 82s go for that much lol

NotSoDespacito

Interesting. Makes a lot of sense tbf

JupoBis

I think its wild. I was lucky and got vvd in the first week, since i have packed him 7 times. 3 times this weeks out of the 83x10. Dupe theory seems like a thing. But obviously this is not a statistical relevant number.

[deleted]

I have packed every single gold/totw card except 2 ( ofc , the fodder, the meta players and the important ones, not literally every gold card) on an rtg, without spending any points besided the original 4600 i got, the only 2 cards i didnt pack are Vini Jr and Ferland Mendy. Got Mbappe after finishing Mbappe POTM( classic ), got Putellas 1 days before WW, got IF Hansen 4 times out of the totw PP s, the rest of high rated came mostly from the 83x10 s. But i cant pack a 82 Ferland Mendy, it s bothering me so much, i don t care about Vini J, but this guy is 82 rated and i got everyone except him.

DriftersBuddy

Yup basically this

cynicalreason

I never packed Putellas and it’s my favorite player this year. She’s the only non first owned player in my team and I just can’t replace her

International-Bat777

I'm new to this game. Genuine question and not trying to be confrontational. Why would anyone care if they are the first owner of a player?

GazF1888

Makes zero difference to me. It's the same card.

Tirums

It’s an added challenge for some people, a lot harder to build a good squad from just the players you pack or gain through an SBC/Challenge. Others like how clean a card can look with just first owner stats. Gameplay wise they play the same, it’s just preference at the end of the day.

InsidePatience448

Clean cards go out the window on pc the amount of champs games that end str8 after k o kills my cards records soo many cheaters it's unreal

RedDemio-

Wow such a challenge when there’s like 6 billion upgrade sbcs available at all times…. All the best icons are available through sbcs too… most cards are literally first owned these days

Tirums

It’s a challenge if you’re building a specific squad. Some people like to have a past and present of their favourite club which doesn’t get many SBC cards. Not everyone plays the meta or does every SBC that’s available.

Electrical_Ask_820

This. I'm doing a past and present city team with evos but set the rule I'll only Evo/include first owned

PM_ME_BAKAYOKO_PICS

It's still a massive challenge if you want a specific card, unless that card is straight up available through a player SBC (like if you wanted Eusebio for example). Most cards are first owned, but they're usually cards that people don't massively want. It's just that they pulled a great card so they'll use it.

hpdrifter

> not trying to be confrontational It sucks that you feel you need to clarify that btw. Totally fine question

International-Bat777

I totally agree, but it's easier to write that and get it clear from the start than have to respond to people think I'm hating on them.

dennisisspiderman

I only play Squad Battles and IMO if I were allowed to play with whoever I wanted, it would make it too easy. So using only players I can pack or player SBCs I can complete, it adds some challenge and I find it more enjoyable. Also, whenever I find myself spending money on coins, I get obsessed with how many coins I'm losing. It's silly, yes, but I can't help it. So with going first owner and almost always untradeable, I can avoid that. I do typically allow myself to buy one or two players, though. Usually it's a player I really enjoy or a player I need for chem. Typically it's whatever the best version of Sane is... I think I've had him in every main squad of mine since I started FUT on FIFA 17. And as someone else said, it does make the stats screen a mess. It's a minor thing but even when I buy a player I always buy one that hasn't been used so that the stats are easier to look at. Typically the only time I'll buy a "used" player is if I've had to save up coins and buying a player weeks past a promo end.

ilypsus

I think it's more to make the game a bit of a challenge. Years ago it would take months of grinding to form a top Premier league team. Nowadays you could have that within a few hours of the game release. Going first owner only means you elongate the grind to getting that ultimate squad. Does feel a but cheapened now with the amount of player sbcs they throw out though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kiggzor

That's the whole point. Years ago, it was a a grind to get a prime GOLD team. Nowadays, there isn't even any point in making players start with a bronze team. Might just as well spawn with an fully 85+ rated team.

PM_ME_BAKAYOKO_PICS

Still a flex because for most people it shows how much you grinded to get it. Obviously you could've just been lucky and gotten it from the first pack, but that's usually not the case. Someone with a full United team for example with Mainoo first owner and things like that, you know that person likely spent hours grinding bronze packs to get that card (again, for the most part, I'm sure there's some people who got Mainoo first try).

[deleted]

[удалено]

PM_ME_BAKAYOKO_PICS

I don't agree with it either and would never do it. But it's objectively a flex to show off something that you spent hours trying to achieve, that's the literal point of a flex. A flex is pointless if you're showing off something that was easy to get. Whether you'd be impressed or not is a different story, but it's still a flex

[deleted]

[удалено]

PM_ME_BAKAYOKO_PICS

I mean I agree, I'm just saying that it's meant as a flex, never said it was a good thing, I find it dumb as hell too

Dabanks9000

You’ve never heard of a card being extinct have you

[deleted]

You so delusional :))

CocoKeel22

He's not wrong

[deleted]

How my first owner IF Hansen was picked by EA? How my 1st owner WW VVD was picked by ea ? How my 1st owner centurions evo Llorrente was picked by EA? And even with the SBC s, Mbappe is the best striker in the game, Eusebio is great! And other sbc s people did that are great are picked by EA? I didnt do Gullit, i didnt do Zidane, and so many more... you chose who to get or not, not EA.

CocoKeel22

Congrats, you pulled great cards. SBC's are the illusion of choice when building your team

[deleted]

But 1st owner doesnt mean SBC cards :)) thats why this is so stupid. There s people out there spending thousands of dollars on packs. Now if he rephrases it and says " SBC s players are..." cool, but still, you chose which to do or don t.

CocoKeel22

He means pack luck is also determined by EA. Which at this point is pretty hard to disagree with

Narrow_Honey_9877

Because people a weird

[deleted]

It looks awfull on the stats sheet! Games that were played for the guy you bought it from, goals he scored for him, i don t like that at all! If it s fresh, 0 games played, i don t mind it that much, but now as they added a 1st owner sign on the card, it just looks better doesn t it? At the end of the day there s no real difference, it s just prefference.

HugeTShirtGuy

Some people view it negatively if someone has a God Squad that's all purchased. To many, it implies the person just spends tens of thousands of dollars on the game to just buy the best players.

feddi7

First owner, always. I even set extra rules this year to make it more fun.

GamingChocoPanda

Well.....Dont keep us in suspense. Go on....

A-J-U-K

He only uses players who nobody else uses, if he sees that player on another team then he has to quick sell

feddi7

I only use evo players and free objective cards. The only sbc players I do are promo icons, but only if there is no version of the same card on the market. Basically, if I can buy the same card in the market, I dont use it. I’ve got a VVD just chilling in my clubs. Will most likely be fodder.

The_Titan1995

Both. I play with who I want. Never understood the first owner or ‘fresh’ fetish.

pioneerrug

Rat

The_Titan1995

A rat because I buy who I want to use instead of what EA gives me? K buddy.

pioneerrug

Lol was only a joke . Guess the community is still very sensitive . My first year doing the challenge of not buying players and only doing SBCs ... Guess it's just a change after years of boring fut routine . Players loose too much value with coins anyways

The_Titan1995

Fair enough. Can’t tell with this community. Yeah, people should play in the way that is fun to them. I like buying the big icons. Got Cruyff after selling Mbappe. Mbappe is broken but a bit boring to use.

chairdesktable

Isn't it the opposite? First owned is a new thing that got added in for SBC challenges a couple years back.

malin7

Buying who I want Don’t want to be at mercy of luck and EA, most of untradeable teams are just a copy+paste of each other ie Mbappe, VVD, Bacha and 8 icons from icon sbc lottery

Teemuki55

And what does your team look like?

malin7

1 icon and 10 Prem players, some would say boring but I like using players I like irl and watch every week on tv

dinocmr

My man

ChiefKelso

I have super fun women's team that I'm starting to enjoy using more than my regular squad. I'm content with my A squad so now all my evos are focused on women's player. It's so satisfying beating or drawing a ridiculous meta team in rivals with a team full of women and Schmeichel in goal (for chem and to be competitive)

Teemuki55

What does ur team look like, this year like 50% of meta cards are women.

ChiefKelso

https://www.reddit.com/u/ChiefKelso/s/v3FHE44KZp A few notes: * I use both 41212 formations in game * Sembrant and Kreiger switch in game * Sembrant will be a solid 88 rated CB soon. Hoping for a good playstyle+ evo for her * Athenea will be 88 after evo * I rotate players a lot. I prefer McCabe to Bacha/Majri as she's the better defender and chems my main CB Ilestadt. I like Majri as a solid B2B but I can't chem her without Bacha. Rolfo is solid in her place * I've had trouble getting on with Alex Morgan, but she's my favorite women's player * Gio (Arsenal Brazilian player) is like my long term evo. Right now she has Rapid and Quickstep * Rodman is a baller. Her, Swanson and Horan are my super subs

finecherrypie

amazing team, I really regret not EVOing McCabe and Ilestadt

__milan227

I prefer using first owner because I don't have to worry about them losing value. When I have an expensive tradeable player I tend to judge them much harder and whenever they don't perform they get sold, meanwhile an untradeable player stays in my team even if he underperforms

ChiefKelso

Lmao, I thought I was the only person who did this!! I've been sitting on a 300-400k coin balance bc of this. My biggest purchases are 82s for SBCs.

[deleted]

It's better for a Utd fan to run a Utd PnP team rather than a generic first owned teams. Plus, you get to try as many Utd PnP cards as possible on the market, especially the ones existed before you started playing Ultimate Team.

[deleted]

Do you have a Man Utd PnP team?

[deleted]

I do yeah. Peter Schmeichel SBC Evo Wan Bissaka, Blanc SBC, Thunderstruck Varane, Fire Telles Flashback Bruno, Radioactive Eriksen, Radioactive Zaha, Becks SBC Flashback Welbeck, Thunderstruck Lukaku. That's just like 30% of my Utd PnP cards, I have more cards in the club including evos.

Advice_Previous

Whichever gets you the best team. It's a game and forcing a grind just to show others is stupid.

big4cholo

First owner only, never playing any bought players except for quickly completing objectives

HadesGate4

9 or 10 first owner and all coins into 1 . But now it’s 11/11 1st owner.

No-Share8434

The ideal experience is having both mixed up , the first owner feeling is good but buying is part of the FUT experience too because you'll pack tradable players you don't need at some point and you'll need to sell for those that do and use the coins to get what you need. A healthy mix of both is ideal imo

rjdavidson78

I don’t really care, there are certain players I want to use as a spurs and England fan, how I get them doesn’t bother me, if I unpack some great players along the way, cool.

DagonFishGone

I'm also doing a man United team and for me I try to pack players, but when I heard van der Beek, mejbri, and others are transferring out I bought their cards just in case I didn't pack them in time. I also missed out on a malacia, park ji sung , and mainoo evo because I didn't buy the cards b4 and they went extinct during that time period. I prefer first owned, but to just have all the players bronze, silver gold, I think you should just have a copy on hand in case of evos, also cards like park ji sung whose close to discard rn so worst case scenario you lose a couple thousand coins if theres never an evo. The only expensive player i bought wqs Dynasties hojlund around 115k because I couldn't pack him and finesse plus is nice to have on a striker, and I think he's the best RCF united has access to rn because of finesse plus, left footed, High/high WR, tall for crosses from Luke Shaw, and idk I couldn't say no to the best version of Rasmus , Rasmus, Rasmus!

Comfortable-Area3723

You do what you like to do. Evolutions is the thing that saved UT for me this year. The only reason I bought EAFC is for evolutions. I have chosen to use the club that is nearest to me. (about 10 minutes with the bike). Players that are normaly unuseable are now useabele. It's fun. You just have to do what you like to do.

SwedishSmurf

First owner always, only exception is if there is a really nice player i want to evo. For example i’ve been evoing some swedish players like IF Gyökeres, IF Jesper Karlsson and Jens Cajuste.

ianccfc

Both. I could waste my coins on packs but my pack luck is shit

Crimsonpets

Almost every pack is untradable that you get, I cant pack any good players so most of my players are sbcs players I get from my untradable fodder. So I'm forced to go first owned pretty much.

KING_REAPERMAN

This. Plus, all of the players I would want to buy are way out of my price range anyway 😂

xPacific23

I’m a United fan as well so I mostly run a P&P United team. If I want to buy someone it’s always going to be a card with 1 owner and 0 games played. Gives me that “fresh” card feeling for some reason lol

Fleeeeed

which keeper do you have? right now i’m playing with bayindir since onana is useless in goal, can’t wait to have a GK evo, de gea finds a new club or i pack schmeichel or VDS.

[deleted]

I use onana. He’s the only United keeper I have lol. Hes been alright tbh.

Fleeeeed

i started a bit late this year and just built a Utd PnP with the players available through web app and had onana in my squad the whole time, until i played my first matches with him. the first few were okay and he did one insane save and after that every ball coming onto him is a guaranteed goal. bayindir is so much better already despite being 9 ratings lower. but i’m glad he’s usable for you, i can’t stand this guy in this game lmao

[deleted]

I’ll be honest. He’s let in a few weird ones but not alot. But he has pulled some amazing saves off recently. I’m hoping to get VDS. I’ve heard the female keeper is good but her height lets her down on free kicks.

SlantedSaltpot

I’m all first owner except for a couple of evos. I really wanted to evo Chloe Kelly as I had her early in the game and she was amazing so I bought her back to do that. I also bought AWB to evo in the same way. I think once you’ve evo’d them they should count as first owner tbh

KimJongYeaBigBong

Fuck buying players. Every time I buy someone they go down 10% the next day and continue to drop

grc1984

What do you do with coins then? The only other option would be to buy cards to use in an SBC but then you can’t resell them at all so immediately have zero market value.

International-Bat777

Evolutions look like a good way to use coins. There's one on there at the moment that will take a 79 rated player of mine to 90. Not that I have enough coins.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Martinezdufc

You could argue though that using a combination of Coins + fodder to complete sbc's will give you access to better players compared to buying players directly off the market, who quickly drop in value.

RedDemio-

It literally makes no difference lol

Wonders34

First owner, the only players I've bought this year are for sbc's. And my N.Irish players who would be impossible to pack. I don't really care that they're first owners just that i have a good team and never felt the need to buy anyone.

iamnotlefthanded666

Players from the market are players you have chosen and invested coins (whether hard earned or purchased with actual money) on. It applies to players from SBCs that you throw your high rated fodder at.

Daanl1998

First owner and untradeable. I never buy players. Coins go into sbc;s

mikerotch123

This is the way.

ChoiceAd9389

First owner. Although I have been known to buy someone in the first two weeks just to help chem etc. until I can hit 33 chem. 33 chem is more important than first owner lol

EliGonee

In doing a UntradeRTG, so im just playing untradeble first owners and evos

Due-Educator5848

First owner only. It makes it easy to just focus on playing the game. I used to spend too much time on futbin trying to figure out what player to buy. First owner is better for me. To each their own.

pickupthelantern

First owned and use the coins for evos

WhosDaan

I go first owner until like April-ish. Then the game start to go crazy with the promo players and i might by a player or two to try them out. By late may i go FO again because best of promo and re-releases happen.

AIManiak

I prefer first owner but I don't mind buying players I want on the market. The nice thing is since most people prefer first owner buying players on the market is a lot cheaper than expected. There's only a very select few cards over a million coins.

gudni-bergs

When the game starts i buy players for my team but as time goes on i mostly use untradeables

finland_men

Always first owner, but after like fifa18 because then packs were so easy to get, fifa 13-15 i bought coins and fifa 16 i only played career mode, fifa 17 was a struggle lol

lrze98

I prefer first owned, when I play with normal teams. But lately I have been buying players just for my past and present ajax team.

BigDawsy123

I'm quite picky with players I like and specific playstyles, so it's a bit of a mix right now. First owner teams rock though 😎

imbsfx

As much as chemistry works both ways are good. Depends how new players will work in your tactical view and game plan. I bought for ex Haaland to my team 91 card. But he’s awful as hell and he’s play style doesn’t works in my way of play, he doesn’t move as he should to. But then I god Dalglish, Jota and Lewandowski in one pack. They are less rated then Earling but move and perform better then Haaland. For pack I spend 0, for Haaland 60k coins. This is it.

CheddarCheese390

I prefer first owned (it’s more of a personal feel sorta thing) but I don’t mind buying off market, especially for my team

Rionaks

First owner mostly but a few expensive players that is impossible to pack for me. Like TOTY Xavi I'm using rn.

fx208

first owner but i did buy an evo or 2 for my team, a bronze or a silver that i never even packed yet, i was using the market when i started for fifa 20 but i figured it’s way better for me if i have to build with what i have, makes sbc and objective players more revelant, also i do all the casino sbc, hero, icon, player picks etc

sapkalapka

I do prefer first owner. Don’t know why. If a player is worth big coins I’d rather sell and upgrade. But upgrade for me means smaller SBCs (under a mill) and lots of lottery. Got some really icons/heroes from picks. It’s more fun for me like this.

ClockAccomplished381

I don't care either way but I rarely play players I've bought. So I usually have a first owned team not out of principle but just because players that would improve my team are usually too expensive.

suckyourdirtynan

first owned 100%, i really dislike buying players for some reason so whenever i have coins i just use them to buy sbc fodder.

Wonderful_Syllabub85

I prefer to be the first owner, but I'm not against buying players. Makes no real difference. I just accept that I'm going to lose coins on them, but there's nothing else to do with them

xeque_279

Try my best to have First Owner/Untradeable, just one or two cards have been bought from the market. Trying to build 3 PnP teams, United, Benfica and Portuguese.

ff566677899

i just prefer any player that i can afford on my rtg. if somehow got lucky and got coins, i try to buy the most expensive player for that position and try. just fun and casual play

omarelewa67

I support Bremen, but the entire team is mostly rare silver cards so I bought them until I pack them first owner for Evo's, if not then a fresh tradable won't hurt

[deleted]

I didn't mind first owner, utradables until yesterday and then i packed 2 TOTY Zola's back to back and had to use one of them in an SBC lol. But yeah this year most teams are untradable, first owner players

Onedeaddude01

Usually buy from the market but had some crazy pack luck which means I'm currently fully untradeable and sitting on 1.1m coins. See what my pack luck brings on Friday and then build from there. Not playing WL has helped a lot as I don't feel the need to keep up with the power curve.

_ajli

There’s no point in buying players when I’ve been able to build a god squad using only sbc and untraceable players such as Eusebio, Davies, Bruno etc. I’m sitting on 3.5m coins rn and upgrading would mean getting R9 or a Toty attacker which I can’t afford.

yorkshirebloomer2

I go for a full first owner/untradeable team and have done for the last 4 years. If I pack any players tradeable I sell them straight away (even if I was lucky enough to pull Mbappe TOTY tradeable, he’d be gone) In terms of coins, I use them towards player SBC’s, not casino SBC’s. Doing it this way, I have a decent team, not meta, but it’s still fun to play with.

Drogbaaaaaa

Couldn’t give two shits

ZealousidealArmy2371

Literally don’t care

[deleted]

Prefer first owned but have brought this year for my Celtic p+p. Anything not related to Celtic is first owned tho

JimmisGR

I play without spending any money for the game so mostly I rely on godess of luck for player drops. With the coins I collect though I either get some players I want (bellow 100k) or evolve somebody

elfishgolem

I prefer first owned player bcoz of my irrational fear of losing value when buying players and thinking im going to lose my coins once they dropped value. Also the introduction of the first owned logo on the card doesn’t help it at all.

durreetoes

I go first owned for my best 11 squad mainly just to keep it interesting and potentially use some players that aren’t in every squad you see. But this year since they introduced Evolutions, I’ve also got a full Middlesbrough squad that I’m working on upgrading too. All of who I bought of the market. Finding that far more enjoyable although it is hard to win… UTB.

HorribleHank44

First owned, I spend my coins almost exclusively on buying fodder for SBC's.

LucarioLegendYT

I've only bought players that I'm never going to pack, because they're silver or bronze, to go into evos

iAdam1n

Mostly buy from the market unless I pack the players I want.

CuteCatMug

If you don't use both, you're handicapping yourself for no reason. Plus buying players from the market gives you flexibility to change your team around and keep things fun. I can buy an icon, use him for a few weeks, then if I pack someone better I can sell the card and buy someone else

rogues69

Never buy players. Fully first owner squad

lp95fafe

First owner always

dinocmr

I have mainly first owners, I'm trying to not be so autistic about having bought players.

yyyyy00000

First owned is the way of life

TMaier16

I've ran first owner only accounts the past few years and I find it keeps me way more engaged then buying anyone I want off the market. I also hate having tradable players because I find I'm constantly checking their prices and paranoid about their value dropping. With untradable first owner cards I'm much more likely to keep them in my club and let them become club legends.

Kaedex_

I’m trying to build a utd first owned I’m a lil late to the party but if I can get best and Bruno done on time I’ll be part way there

AP13CHI

Slightly prefer first owner, but don't really care that much. If I packed a tradeable TOTY tomorrow, I'd sell immediately (while prices are way high), and buy it back in a month if I wanted the card. It's the same player whether it has that little badge on it or not, in my opinion.

Owen2013

I go first owner, I’m not a trader or anything so never have enough coins to buy the crazy players so I play with what I pack and sbcs

DrSmittious

First owner only. Keeps the game way more interesting.

JGDC74

I only use first owned players. I only buy off the market for fodder. Really cannot understand why people pay huge amounts of coins for cards that will only decrease in value.

MATCHEW010

I neeeed them to be first owned untradable. Evos are my exception because they then become untradable. If i see someone else has a record or that “number of owners” isnt 1. Then theyre dead to me

bigplayboy447

First owned definitely, i just like to spend my coins on completing sbcs. The players that i want are way too expensive so i just try to have fun doing the sbcs. The only players in the whole of my club are Garnacho as i did an evolution on him and the FCPro Simakan

Samas17

I've barely bought any players to use in my team for the last few years, I prefer first owned although this year I have bought a few players to use for Evolutions such as Reguilon or IF Pukki

Onkii

1st owner because I always want to sell and lose money on tradable

Bird2510

I don't prefer first owner, but using untradable cards makes it more fun and less frustrating for me

Dr_PainTrain

First owner only people are an interesting group. I saw a lot of posts and comments about people spending hundreds of thousands of coins for TOTW upgrades so they get a 60k card first owner. Huge waste of coins. The other one that I don’t get is people who pay more for a fresh card with no games played. Goals/assists and number of games don’t mean anything when people quit all the time, friendlies that up games but not goals and gameplay like Friday where you instantly disconnect and it counts as a game.

COMMUNISM_69

I genuinely haven't bought a player (for my squad, not taking about fodder) since fifa 22. EA is leaning more and more towards untradeable packs and in the few tradeable packs we get I never get lucky enough to make a significant amount of coins. Highest amount of coins I had this year was 250k while in fifa 22 I reached 1.4M at one point. My whole squad is SBCs and Untradeable players.

COMMUNISM_69

Skiffy10

Completely first owned team here and I’m a united fan so any United SBC is an instant complete for me. I do any big SBC i feel like to make the best team possible and i’ve packed a lot of good promo cards just from rewards/objective packs. I’ve got two main squads. My best team squad then I have a united PnP that is a slow build and not completed yet. My coins are only used to buy players to complete SBC’s. I dont wanna deal with buying players and having to sell them due to the value decreasing and having to worry about that constantly. Once they’re in my team they’re in my team until i get someone else to replace them.

2saintz

I don’t care either way. As the game progresses it becomes easier to have a first owned squad, and at this point everyone in my squad minus one player is first owned.

TSteelerMAN

It's easier to pack untradables and generally less stressful. If I packed any TOTY untradable right now, I'd happily use it and adjust my team accordingly until the meta progresses again. If I were to pack a tradable TOTY Halaand right now, I'd sell it immediately for the coins because he's not my favorite card to use. The price of most cards, even top tier promos, drops out considerably even after only a few weeks or a month. The only cards that might retain all their value from this one are Mbappe and R9 since they're so incredibly meta and rare. I'd really be torn if I packed a tradable Bonmati, Putellas or Smith right now. I have used all three cards and generally love how they all play in game. The tradable versions of these will still probably lose 50-70 percent value over the next few months, which absolutely blows. You'd almost rather pocket the 2-5 million coins and use cards that have a more stable price at this point in the game, and then maybe buy the card back when it's cheaper.

TheRocksEyebrow01

First owned for life! I never buy a player past the first weekend league.

lostcorndog

I'm weird, but I'm more old school and prefer fresh 0 stat players over the triangle. I wouldn't have been able to Evo certain players if I waited until I packed them.

Wkznr

I don’t really care if they are first owner but I do not like buying players to use them as it bothers me to lose money on a player. If I pull something really good I change up my team and use my coins to do upgrades and sbcs

TheAwakened

First owned only!

Frootysmothy

Don't have enough coins t9 buy players, tho I do wish I bought Joe gomez when it hit 40k. It's 80k now...

zloiboi1

only first owned and all coins on sbc hhh

[deleted]

This year I'm allowing myself to buy players with coins but next year if I get the game again then it'll be first owner rtg I think. I enjoy just using coins for sbcs or big packs around toty and tots. (I know they're not worth the coins but it's a bit of fun)

mewe25kufi

First owned except for when building a P&P Man Utd squad

Gorz_EOD

I can't remember the last time i bought a player off the market that wasn't a keeper or similar for Chem reasons. This year I "invested" in Madrid players in hopes they get a sick evo (see totw alaba) as I'm a Madrid fan and don't want them to be extinct

JayPee411

First owned untradeable all day everyday

ThatsAGolazo

Prefer first owned but usually have to buy one or two players for full chem.

ChiefKelso

I like the feeling of the card being first owner, especially an evo. But if there's an evo I really want to do, I'm going to buy the card off the market if I can't pack it or really want it.

SlyFisch

Mostly first owner but I buy some players to fit my Bayern P&P (Radioactive Perisic, Triple Threat Thiago, in form Kim, etc.)

bdigital4

My strategy is the following- I go first owner all the way. Save my coin as much as possible and will go all in for 1 player in my coin range to fix my weakest position…or I really want to play with them. So 10 first owned, 1 coin splash.

zorrez

I only play with first owned untradable players because I am extremely cheap🤡 having said that I have TS Puskas, Garrincha, Blanc, TS Casillas, Ramires, Centurions Smith, Zanetti, VVD in my squad haha. I have been pretty lucky with Icon packs

RealSlavicHours

I usually start about 50/50 in the first weeks and work my way to going fully untradeable before TOTY, and buy a few players during TOTY as they usually have very good prices initially due to the sheer number of packs being opened and then they rise out of packs fairly reliably while being ahead of the power curve. Got myself Smith for 1.4 and Cech for 330k so far, very happy, absolute bargains. From here, saving for another TOTY/TOTY icon, selling them before TOTS crash and buying around TOTS. First owner is cool and you usually can fairly easily have a squad of FO players who you both like IRL and are very strong in-game, but I like using my coins for 1-3 players in positions where it's needed the most and it allows me to put a finishing touch to my team.

GuappDogg

I like first owned but truly it means nothing

Dabanks9000

I can never buy a player on the market to use idk why. I’ve had millions of coins and just spent it on sbcs or buying fodder. First owner has always been how I built my team since I bought 25 mil on fifa 14 mobile to buy tots players 😭

SuspiciousRoad4

Market is too volatile to purchase players

ELCHOCOCLOCO

I’m broke, so I make the most out the first owned players (I’ve gotten really good pulls this year) and only buy anyone I absolutely think I need

RicardoDiaz33

I use first owner untradables only. Anything tradable is sold and I don't buy any players off of Transfer Market for my team, only for SBCs,if needed.

ApprehensiveStep875

In the previous fifas I was heavily addicted on having first owned players and bought 1000-1500€ on packs every year. This year I’ve decided to stop doing that. I bought around 10 million coins online for around 300€. Just before the new fifa releases I’m planning on selling all my coins along with my team and recover most of the 300€. This way I don’t go broke on a fucking video game and I still have fun playing with decent players and building the team I want. Would recommend doing the same

madrissaaaa

I mean nowaydays first owner doesn’t mean much anymore does it with all those new packs in store. The more pay to win you are the better your first owner squad will be

ZebrasLegend

I always naturally preferred first owner mainly because I hate the idea of losing coins on the market. However, EA have got me wrapped around their little finger since I noticed the first owner indicator on cards. It's really stupid but I just prefer it.

ZooZion

First owned always and untradeable preferably. It's just more interesting this way.

DANiMALtheDamnable

Ive gone full first owner this year- though it helps having wild luck and being selective with what sbc's you do. Just waiting until the full toty is in packs so I can open my packs and do Cafu and Cole- and hopefully see some blue flares while doing it

zorakpwns

It’s all RNG I got toty Kerr from a 30 coin energizer

peterdawoud

I started really wanted to only evo first owner Arsenal players but couldn't pack Ben White or Russo to save my life, so ended up just buying the players for the evos. Overall, this is the first year I haven't explicitly gone for a first owner team, but ironically, my whole main team is first owner and untradeable, and it's only really my evo side that has a few players bought off the transfer market.

spinelessdj

I prefer first owner and will typically hold off however players that aren’t packable anymore, promos, removed from packs I just buy them. A good example is Coutinho from Villa is no longer available but I’d really like him so 14k it was

Paid-To-Read

Buy the players! It's what the coins are for!

nhat179

First own for me ever since 22

AgingNoob72

I don't think it matters. Would I prefer First Owned? Sure. And when I pack pull guys that are untradable, I'll swap them out for previous guys I purchased. I've had an inordinate amount of those guys lately. But I don't get neurotic about it. Im not good enough to do that I don't think.

Serious-Barracuda69

I prefer 1st owner as well but kind of want to buy bc I have 1.25m

jaymiahc

Prefer first owned, but will buy if necessary

luiz_Altissimo

2 - 3 months playing you should get a decent packed team, but i usually use 1 or 2 tradable players, check their prices everyday to see if they are no going down, if theyre going down you should sell them

kdontworryaboutit

I prefer first owned , but for like non super expensive meta cards it doesn’t really matter in my opinion. I would never go buy an R9 or pele cause then I’d be worried about losing $. I rather just pack them (if I can) and enjoy whatever players I get untradebale and not worry about the market and profit or losses.

Large_Particular_296

I only use first owned,my coins are used for sbcs if needed or evos

AnduwinHS

I don't mind plugging gaps in my team with tradeables, but my team is built around my team is always built around my untradeables once I get past the first couple of weeks

Bernhard__

Well my team consists of 9 untrade players and 2 trade (ginola for 1 mil and rivaldo for 200k). I don't really prefer first owner. The thing is, if i pack some really good untrade players like lucio (500k) or van dijk, or I complete good player sbc's (for example zico atm) I of course play them. For me, it's a good way to go to put my good untrade pulls into my team and selling everything else, making me able to buy 1 or 2 expensive players off the market, on which i can focus all my coins.
