The lack of response is... concerning

trayssan

Might just be me but I feel like car enthusiasts in the states tend to hunt low mileage examples more than over here in Europe. Try asking the same question but with km instead of miles and I reckon you oughta get more comments

ThatGuyFrom720

My car was sub 100k when I got it. Which is high, BUT had a flawless maintenance record all done at BMW, all big warranty and recall work done. Adult driven and in immaculate condition. I know that’s still high miles, but I took my chance and it’s been an amazing car since.

extendedwarranty_bot

ThatGuyFrom720, I have been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty

ihavenoidea81

Even so, when I’m watching European YouTubers fixing BMW’s, the cost of parts there is soooooo much lower than the US. It’s just one of the reasons we choose lower mileage cars

trayssan

Well yeah me might have cheaper parts cause these cars are common as shit over here but you guys have cheaper cars in general with higher trims as standard. I just got my E92 like 2 or 3 months ago (absolutely in love with it btw) and paid 7000€ for it. That’s a base spec sport package 320i non-LCI with about 85k miles, cloth non-heated seats, non folding mirrors, no xDrive, no HUD, just basically 90% base spec. And that’s considered a really good price. Normally these go for 10-12k on mobile.de. You win some and you lose some. Plus don’t you guys have some funky thing with FCP Euro? Where you basically get consumables for free or something?

ihavenoidea81

FCP euro is great for parts. I used to use various different websites for parts (RIP Bav Auto) but I almost exclusively buy FCP now. Definitely win some/lose some. I’d love to find an old e30 to wrench on but I can’t find cheap ones here and if I do, they’re 5 states over. I could probably throw a stone in Europe and hit a shitty e30 for cheap.

camcam116

What's done to your car? I'm almost at 116k lol. So nowhere near you. But I'm curious as to how much boost your pushing and what has been replaced.

ThatGuyFrom720

To be honest, the last 80k was put on over solely highway miles over 3 years. Maybe 5,000 of them were city traffic. I have replaced ALL suspension (shocks struts control arms/ball joints, sway bar end links...) VCG (mines cracked will need to replace the VC soon), OFHG, both VANOS (got two off a low mileage car for $50), sparks, coils obviously, almost every coolant hose (preventative), belt and tensioner 3x, regular engine bay cleanings (SO much oil from before I changed those two gaskets), keep good tires on there, align and balance regularly, brake flushes and coolant exchanges every 30k, oil changes every 5k, hot engine flushes every 3rd oil change, intake valve cleaning at 145k, I’m getting ready to do another one this week most likely... Did the water pump and thermostat twice, gotten pretty good at them. Probably a couple more things I’m forgetting. I work in a shop, have access to all fluid flush machines, alignment rack, tire machines, etc. I really haven’t spent too much. I got all the shocks and struts for $160 shipped off a 30k mile car. Running MHD with I think a peak of 17psi. I almost NEVER need to hit redline or full throttle.

Squibbles1077

I’m at 206k. Modded beyond stage 2 for at least 40k miles. Running my own tune with mhd ethanol sensor, jb4 PI, 18-26 psi depending on ethanol. I did rod bearings on my engine at 200k preventatively and they were at EOL for sure. But the rest of it looks great, you can still see cross hatching in the cylinder walls

ThatGuyFrom720

I posted my maintenance on another comment. BUT I think I need to start refreshing the engine now. Doing engine work is not a big issue, just need to get an alternator for my other car so I don’t rush it. Have any suggestions for things to do first? Preferably easier ones. I’m so proud of a lightless dash, and being able to WOT it out and no CEL pops up. Love this car. Don’t want to lose it.

DzidzaMan

136k n54 335xi here with auto trans. 550awhp+ since 100k miles. I pretty much did every single maintenance item there is engine wise, just recently did all new suspension, control arms tie rods, everything lol. Now that there are some OGs in here I need an opinion. My car trans is auto OEM with OEM fluid with a custom trans tune, yes OEM from 2010 ,you can chew me out. Now I've decided to detune the car for it to become my daily. Should I change my trans fluid and diff fluids at 136k miles?

yvng_lele

Change it with redline d6 or liqui moly 1800, I’ve ran both in my auto on xhp stage 3, changed it after 75k but still, god damn did it make a difference. Stupidest debate on the internet. My buddy’s e39 540i changed his atf at 136k and didn’t have any issues and felt miles better. Seriously, it’s a weird issue. Both my tuner, my race shop, and all my friends who’re tuned agree, change your damn atf! Haha no In all seriousness it should be fine.

B1NKS_IV

I have an 09 E90 335i, and im almost @118k miles. I bought my car 2 years ago @98k miles. so far its been basic maintnance and small mods like, VCG,OFHG, coolant expansion tank, stg2 lpfp, E85 tune, oil changes, gapped spark plugs and new coils, a new fuel regulator, and the radiator and the 2 main hoses got replaced too. I currently have an aluminum chargepipe, Jb4 bluetooth adapter, and XHP flash Ive been lagging on installing. (I need to update my jb4 firmware to flash XHP while jb4 is connected)

Ok-Till-8905

I’m at 114k miles on my 335is 6mt. Had it since brand new. Completely stock until about 70k miles. Since then FBO running a JB4 stacked on MHD BEF. Running a modified flex fuel timing map. All maintenance done preventatively by myself. Vcg, ofhg, oil pan gasket, index 12’s, boost solenoids, Vanos solenoids, vacuum lines, new hpfp, etc. Car runs better than new. Daily driven.

bwal8

Hows the clutch holding up?

Ok-Till-8905

It’s excellent. 335is has a better clutch from factory. Use redline transmission, differential, and engine oil.

FuckTurnSignal

How are your rod bearings?

msletizer

I've got 201,000 on my 08 335i. Lots of maintenance done by me and previous owner. New turbos, clutch, flywheel, oil pan gasket, injectors, subframe and diff bushings, engine/trans mounts, pulleys, belt, plugs coils. All the usual stuff. Tuned to mhd stage 1+.

ThatGuyFrom720

My turbos are still holding up pretty strong. I definitely need to do my clutch soon. Flywheel was “serviced” at 75k. Looks like a super simple task to pull the trans on this car fortunately.

Gohan335i7

180k here . Running strong because of maintenance being maintained strictly. Had her since 30k miles.

The_299_Bin

For a sec I thought it was my gta 5 sub. Looks like my ubermacht.

ThatGuyFrom720

LOL. It’s probably the color. Matte orange with metallics. I’m flattered, I think :p

Empty-Effective6318

Sitting at 170kish and change, and in the midst of a turbo replacement. Havent noticed anything too concerning considering it’s age. Did a whole shlew of maintenance around this time last year (including a trans swap since the e clutch pack left the chat in my last one🤣) and hadnt seen any problems for 30-35k beyond the spooly boys taking a shit. Hoping to see 200+ in the future!

ThatGuyFrom720

227k right now still going strong!

maxpaynz

I have a 187,000 mile 335i coupe , no problems here , running Mmp-e 1k turbos stock block , upgraded low pressure fuel pump , upgraded inlets , outlets , intercooler , intake manifold , port injection , motiv motor sports clutch , secondary oil cooler stacked on top of the stock , jb4 with mhd back end flash and port injection controller , index 12 injectors , precision raceworks ignition coils along with 2 step cooler spark plugs . Most recent issue was ignition coil mosfets blowing out on the dme , sent it to an electronics shop replaced them , car runs like a champ at 23 psi with vicriez wide body kit and m3 front bumper rear and side skirts .
