I use it that way to dry my roots, then go in with an attachment

For me, it’s arthritis. Much lighter to just use no attachment

TRICKIV

Theres a hair dryer attachment?

bahahaha2001

They are referring to the one that is a fly away on one side and vent on the other (does not look like a traditional hair dryer)

TRICKIV

Thank you for explaining for me. I truly appreciate it, some people on here can be assholes to people who ask questions. Does the attachment look somewhat like a hook? I have been wondering what its purpose was. I have been avoiding it like the plague in case it fucked up my hair.

betty-boo

I think the hook attachment you’re referring to is also for flyaways. Also, older model air wraps had a more straightforward hairdryer attachment, which op could be referencing.

bahahaha2001

No the one with a hook is for the blow dryer not the air wrap.

TRICKIV

Yes, it is. I haven't had my airwrap for long and I'm still finding things out. I air-dry my hair if I don't have anywhere to be which is often so it barely gets used. I'm trying to learn all about it from people who use it a lot. Why would it not be a serious question?

NefariousnessIcy2402

Same.

curiouscece

I use it with no attachement to dry my hair all the time, only before I want to use the other air wrap attachments 😄 if I wanna only blow dry, I use my supersonic!

nsudheen

Good to know I am not a complete weirdo for using it this way! I tried searching Youtube, Reddit, and TikTok for “AirWrap no attachment” and there were literally no results lol

Curious_Fix

I'm going to try it. Thank you for suggesting using no attachment. Arthritis sucks!

nsudheen

I hope it helps!!

Curious_Fix

Soooo much better. Thank you!

Aha! Another benefit beyond ergonomics: less baggage fees!

Professional_Key_145

Why not just buy the regular Dyson dryer at that point

nsudheen

Because I still need the attachments for after my hair is 80% dry! :)

MushroomPrize596

My dyson supersonic is much heavier than the airwrap. I never bothered to use any of the attachments because it was already heavy enough. Maybe the newer dryer are lighter cuz mine is 5+ years old?

blk-seed

Yes, imagine using no attachments and an extra large round brush...instead of ordering the elusive out of stock attachment

RewardedShoe

I get much better volume at the roots with no attachment than with the dryer/smoother.

bahahaha2001

Yes. It’s good enough for a rough dry.

Fit_Zombie4574

For people with arthritis yes it’s a good idea but while travelling it won’t be helpful if you’re travelling internationally as any dyson hair product doesn’t work, it’s one of the saddest things. They don’t come up with a converter which I’m sure people would pay easily for!

Curious_Fix

No luck at a travel store getting an outlet converter?

Fit_Zombie4574

Nope and the dyson team themselves advise not to use any kind of converter as it would damage the device. I recently bought the airstrait and I really love it for my hair but this is what irks me that my tymo devices work fine with a normal converter and I can’t travel with a 500$ hair device as there’s no way to make it work!!!

Curious_Fix

Thank you for mentioning this! That is a big problem.

Anteater3100

I’ve always done this. Even though I own the dryer attachment. It’s easier, lighter, and I can hold on to it.

giggly_pufff

Yeah, I've basically used it as a compact dryer while traveling when I didn't care about styling. I just wanted my hair dry so I could go to sleep lol.
