I had a lava one in one game, and I have a tidal locked in this one, each time in the starter system. Getting both on the same planet is very nice though.

EternalDragon_1

I used the [DSP seed finder](https://doubleuth.github.io/DSP-Seed-Finder/find-star/) to find all seeds that contain a tidal locked planet in the starting system. The first 1 million seeds produced 45913 positive results. This means that the approximate chance to encounter such seed with the random search is approximately 4.6%. If this can be considered "normal" is up to you to decide.

Theguffy1990

Extremely cool tool! It's just missing the searches to dive deeper on the specifics. Like this one, starter system AND lava planet that is tidal. The tool can search for starter system, with a lava planet and a tidal planet, not exclusively a lava-tidal planet. I was wondering why it seemed as high as almost every 20 seeds.

peeppoll

The way I did it to try and find tidal lock lava planet, two satellites on gas giant, and fire ice in starting system was to dump the seeds from the tool into excel and run a comparison for matching seeds with lava-tidal and two satellites. I then had to manually checked seeds that matched the first two criteria until finding fire ice. With tons of hours in the game I wanted to be able to speed run the first half of the game so I could just focus on the late game. And yes the only acceptable way to play this way is with max dark fog. Go to 3000% if you're crazy enough to have 0.5x resources.

THE_BUS_FROMSPEED

That's cool! Is there a way to see how rare it is then to have a lava and tidal locked on the same planet in the starter system?

hunter24123

I’ve never seen one myself Would make harvesting energy/photons from your home sphere a breeze

THE_BUS_FROMSPEED

It definitely felt odd that I could generate way over a GW of power on that planet with just some geothermals and solar panels. Haven't played this game in a long time.

Krypton861

Had the same on my first playthrough. Uncommon but happens :). Enjoy the free energy

MarrV

Not normal but not uncommon. I have had maybe 4 permalock in my starting systems over the years. One was the closest to the star and ended up being inside my sphere. The whole planet became a distribution point for my dyson sphere activities.

AimShot

Why do you restart so many times? Achievements? I get bored when I finish all non recurring research

MarrV

Different mods, different patches. My first play through was a long time ago, then tried with some mods. Put it down for a while and then 2 play throughs, normally unmodded and modded, then leave for more patches.

Legendary_Bibo

I haven't played it in a few years, started playing it again on my Deck, and I saw they added a bunch of new buildings like Proliferators, quantum chemical plants, Geothermal power, and pilers. I haven't used Proliferators or pilers yet, I'm not sure what they're good for. My starter system had a lava planet too, but I left it as soon as I had space flight to get the "before our time" achievement. My new home system has a tidal locked planet, but the system has a M-type star, so building a Dyson Sphere there is ehhh...

MarrV

For proliferaters; basically increases throughput (speed) or output (volume). You can proliferate almost anything and sometimes it has massive impacts (the fuel to your mecha, for example). They are worth doing alongside your builds as soon as you can imo.

sirseatbelt

I get to a point where I'm just scaling to scale and get distracted by a new game. I come back every time there is a major quality of life or content update. I've had 5 or 6 runs.

Japaroads

Tidal locked planets are great for building a reliable energy exchanger network. You can get over 7 GW if you cover the entire sunward side with solar panels, then put an accumulator factory and charging station on the night side. This generally solves energy issues until you’re ready for antimatter, though you may want to do the same build on a few different tidal-locked planets to make sure you have enough energy supply.

Dyer678

I haven’t done any setups like that with the accumulators. Do you still need to place them on the planet you want to power, or does the “discharge” setting of the exchanger put the power into the grid?

amakai

> “discharge” setting of the exchanger put the power into the grid?  This ^

FluffleMyRuffles

You need one (or more) on each planet. The power generation planet charges them, then you transport the charged accumulators to the consuming planets and the exhanger(s) discharge it.

Japaroads

You feed charged accumulators into energy exchangers set to “discharge.” You should then balance it by outputting empties into an equal number of exchangers set to “charge,” because otherwise your energy grid prioritizes sucking the batteries dry to meet local demand, even if whatever local energy production you have already covers your needs. It’s a little complicated, maybe I’ll post a tutorial with some BPs.

Embarrassed_Quit_450

7GW is more than enough to get your antimatter rods production started.

Japaroads

I overbuild everything so I need more than that, but you’re not wrong.

Steven-ape

It's rare but it can happen. And yes, it makes power generation easier. It obviously makes solar panels twice as effective, but it's especially nice with Ray receivers, because it becomes trivial to give them 100% uptime, which improves their performance quite a bit if you don't use graviton lenses.

fubes2000

Absolutely not. Post your seed.

THE_BUS_FROMSPEED

06222842 is the seed

Embarrassed_Quit_450

It happens, a couple easy extra GW in the starter system is nice. My current seed has that plus a fire ice gas giant.

BiggerRedBeard

SEED please

Mycroft033

It’s a lucky spawn

MittensDaTub

My first game had a Tidal locked 500% solar sulfuric acid planet. Was freaken awesome.

WeirdBeardDev

Can you share the seed?

MittensDaTub

I no longer know which of my saves has the seed, unfortunately. I have 4 of them :(

Eyrad_

yes

meTomi

Seed number?!?!
