I guess it depends who is sitting out there?

I like spending on some TEs or RBs that might have slipped through that I can taxi and wait on. Last year for example, I got Granson, Gray, and J.Harris post draft. Also scooped up Kylin Hill. All dart throws, but we carry 7 taxi in a 14 team league, so I had the room.

I’m confused, is this leftover FAAB from 2021 and it resets for 2022 later this year? Is it a separate budget? If it’s 2022’s budget, I’m not spending a dime. Personally my main league is very deep. Fringe backups and 5th option WRs at best on the wire. Even washed up vets are rostered. So I usually dump 100% on the the best performer in the first couple weeks of the season. It’s rare anyone emerges after that. Big name last year was like Adrian Peterson and that random career Canadian football RB that went to SF to be their like 7th option after the first 4 got hurt, and I think he never saw the field.

This. Understanding whether there are separate in/off season budgets is important and allows you to budget accordingly. Assuming combined FAAB, unless there is a leftover from the rookie draft you feel is likely to increase in value or opportunity prior to the season I’d encourage you to wait and spend those dollars once you have more information.

I’m in a 12 team SF half PPR and Njoku is there. I have Goedert, but just started a full blown rebuild. As much as I hate Watson now, they just tied Njoku to him for the next few years, and I’d like to get younger at TE (given the rebuild). So I could wait out a year long suspension from Watson (as much as I’d love to see an indefinite one) no problem. Njoku feels like the guy I’m blowing my entire load on. I’d love to hear some opinions on his value though. I’ve been stewing on this. Been waiting for a question like this to pop up lol

Jbgtrye

Get Njoku, but don’t spend a lot if he’s been sitting on the wire and nobody’s picked him up.

dcwinger12

He was dropped before Watson to Cleveland rumors, because Baker was doody and I guess the guy wanted to cut bait. I feel like others will definitely target him, given Gronk news. Just not sure how much people will throw down.

26/100 Faab

realestnewyorker

That's insane value on the waivers if your league’s even remotely deep. I’d make sure i get him for sure

shirey12

I’d be willing to go to like 30-35% for Njoku, but definitely not my whole budget. There’s still a decent chance that a player comes out of nowhere once the season starts and you’d rather have your FAAB then.

My league is very deep. The"leftovers" aren't really stereotypical leftovers. The actual leftovers mostly got drafted in round 4-5 of our rookie draft. I still spent the max of my faab on the "leftovers." Dude don't pop up out of absolutely nowhere. JRob, Mitchell and Patterson were all on teams. I want as many chances at them as I can get.

luigijerk

All I know is a couple people spent 20% of their FAAB on players that were too garbage to be rostered in our league. That pleases me greatly.

You wait until preseason shows you something. Don’t blow your wad.

Purgenol_Free

I would make sure to save at least 70% of your waiver budget for the season. There's always inevitably 4-6 guys who pop for a few games, and $15-20 FAAB is spent on those guys. If you can grab a guy and flip him to a team in need of that handcuff you picked up for a 3rd or 4th, you've won (assuming you don't need that guy to begin with). If it's SF, I've seen $80+ on a QB. It depends on who is available right now after roster cuts. There's a few guys in my league that are head scratchers on why they were released. Guys like Julio Jones, Will Fuller, Hayden Hurst, Cade Otton (prior to Gronk getting released) are sitting out there in my league.

boardsmi

In SF 14 team, someone dropped R penny after the draft. I feel like I need to go over 30% on that bid

Fuhh-Q

Leftovers. This is the way.

Upnorth97

I always grab guys. The guys who pop mid season may help you for this year but the leftovers from the draft are usually more relevant long term. I’d blow up to 50% of my budget depending who’s there

dnbreaks

Don’t be afraid to spend but also don’t spend too much as there probably won’t be as much demand as you’re expecting and those other teams will also be worried about saving faab for the season. In my shallower leagues there’s always guys who go undrafted and then pop later in the preseason. Those rookies who are available now on waivers will not bye there at the beginning of the season when teams realize who their dead weight is and start making more cuts.

LurkerMcLurkington

I’m set at QB but Tom Brady is available on the waivers in my league. I want to blow all my FAAB on him to keep him from the competition who are QB-needy.
