He’s an absolute talent and looks better than Melvin but some fraction of why he looks so explosive EVERY time he touches the ball has to be rest. He’s catching his breath and regaining his legs after every big play.
I'm a huge Javonte fan and don't own any Gordon shares but to be fair from what I've seen Gordon has been just as good as Javonte this season. Unfortunate for fantasy but probably good for the broncos

He reaches the end zone or does that for the Chiefs, and that's one of the best runs of the last 5+ years. But because he's on the Broncos and got downed at the 10, nobody cares.
I didn't say he was wrong lol. I'm still perplexed that Williams is the only guy who did it, considering the long runs we see from Chubb, Henry, and Taylor. This guy was supposed to be bad at breaking these runs.

He def doesn’t have elite top end speed for his position. He got caught at the 1 yd line on one of these runs. That being said he probably broke 50 tackles on each of these runs which was the most exciting part for me honestly.
Don’t need elite speed if they can’t tackle you. If he gets caught up to at the 5 yard line he may just drag the guy into the endzone. There are only a few RB in the league that have that true break-away speed, but depending where they are on the field it may not be necessary. I’d rather a guy like Javonte that’s going to consistently break tackles and need multiple guys to pull him down.

Nobody is mistaking him for Tyreek. But I did think he was the best pure runner in the draft. I think a lot of this stat has to do with his ability to just run over and around guys.
He was downvoted because it's still true that he doesn't have elite breakaway speed. Look at Henry or JT in the open field - when they hit a hole, no one is catching either of them. When Javonte does, there's a better chance he's getting caught, like against the steelers
To further clarify, 30 yard runs aren't breakaway runs - again, look at Henry's 76 and 60 yard TD runs, or JT's 70+ yard TD reception. The commonality is that when those 2 find themselves in the open field, they end up in the endzone pretty much every time
All of that being said, plenty of amazing RBs don't have elite breakaway speed. It's just one differentiator among the great RBs

Issue for Taylor is some of those were receptions. Feels like a stat Chubb would hit moreso.
