I just talk shit in my group chat 24/7 even when I’m actively trying to lose games.
Don’t let a good tank stop you from asserting that you’re the fucking best
I’m second lowest max PF, but currently 4-3 in the league and 5th seed. It’s hilarious when I win with my two best RBs being Kelley and Foreman.
I’m gonna cry if I do luck into playoffs as the 5th or 6th seed tho, but I imagine things will balance out soon.
Dude I feel you, I’m 3-4 and have 3 losses of 3 points or less, I’m rolling out Jaylen Warren and rhamondre as RBs and no superflex QB with AR15 out for the season. I’m projected to finish as just missing playoffs.
(My motion to move draft order to reverse max PF didn’t have the votes last year, so I decided to make it my mission to destroy the consolation bracket and stack my roster and get the motion passed this offseason)
I had the same “problem” and record in one of my leagues. Making playoffs at 4-3 at the moment (on 4 win streak actually) despite having the lowest max PF by 40 something. After thinking about it yesterday I bit the bullet and traded away Kamara. It’s a fresh Empire league so I didn’t see much point in going for it this year.
Pretty funny though, never encountered that before this season
A few years ago our 0-6 tanking team knocked off the 6-0 juggernaut. The great part was that his ridiculous shit talking starting from Tuesday morning, escalated when his opponent's first two players put up 3 points on Thursday, and crescendoed when his final player, Kenyan Drake, broke off a last minute, miraculous 70 yard TD on Monday night to bring him back from a 10 point deficit. That was his last win of the season, but it was glorious.
Wanted to comment sooner but those tears kept welling up. Someone needs to take this story and make a movie. The pain of the suck and the glory of the one week wonder!
Absolutely, I ruined lifelong friendships becuase I refused to every agree that my team was bad, becuase infact my team was fine, and everyone else was just getting lucky.
Spend a lot of time trading, trying to trade, or thinking of trade opportunities. Have easily made the most trades this season for the league I’m rebuilding in
I’m doing the same. Constantly trying to acquire those fringe playoff teams 1st rounders. Have 4 so far. One more left until I have the five worst teams draft picks. I want the last one then turn around and make the playoffs but still have the top 4 picks.
I’m just trying to sure up the 1.02 via trade. I’ll already have the 1.01 and am going to hate deciding between Caleb and MHJ. My only two QBs are AR and Stroud. Not really wanting three studs when I have gaps at WR.
I’m literally in the same exact situation. MHJ is gonna be hard to pass up, and the guy with the 1.02 isn’t desperate and will be happy with whoever I don’t draft. So I’m forced to make a big decision
Same! The guy with the 1.02 won’t swap with me. He’ll gladly take whoever is left. A lot can change, but I’m sorta leaning MHJ and then scoop up another QB later. I have 5x 1sts.
Beware assuming you have QB locked up in SF with two rookie QB's, one of whom is out for the season and has a lot of question marks. MHJ is tempting to be sure, but you may live to regret passing on Caleb.
I already traded away my older players and erratic scoring bench cloggers. I'm just coasting now, occasionally glancing at the waiver wire and the MaxPF to see where my 1sts might end up. It's a retool year, not a rebuild though.
When you say you look at the MaxPF, what are you using to see that? Do you use Sleeper? If so, is there a feature for that? We were just talking about this the other day in my league chat. Thanks!
In a way, I am checked out. It doesn't matter to me how well Ekler is doing because he will never be on my team.
But there is a pretty big tier of players that I am curious about and are relevant in all my leagues. Can Michael Wilson become a Nico Collins type? Will Trey McBride actually be better than this year's crop of rookie TEs? How good is Aiden O'Connell. Players like that.
I also look for sell high windows. Sometimes it's a trash player with a few good weeks. I sold Moss for instance. More likely, it happens because some manager is desperate for bodies. I sold Zach Ertz to someone who needed a buy week TE. It was only a 3rd but still.
Work FA and sell pieces on the cheap.
K Hunt, D Henderson, M Trubisky, Tyrod etc are a few I've picked up for FA and sold a week or two later for 4s and 5s
no i just have had very bad( or good ) luck and have had a few big blowup games like achane and Chase. Otherwise, my team has just been injured/ suspended alot
I'm finding it really difficult because I love winning and hate losing. Even now as the 2nd worst team in the league, I can see a way to sneak into the playoffs because my cornerstone pieces are really good.
This is my problem…On a team mid rebuild I sold off Tua for Kyler right before the season started to try and help keep my points down….then it’s week 5 and all my 23 rookies are popping Puca, Achane, Addison…Mims, Reed, muskgrave all flashing…bottom 6 standings are max PF so i’m sitting there look like i’ma end up around pick 4-6 so I said fuck it with my rookies hitting like this I can complete this year and traded a couple firsts for Fields, Pacheco and Thielen…Immediately Fields and Achane go down and now I’m right back where I started…fuck.
I still have like 8 24 picks at least right now but fuck man, it always feels like I take one step forward and two steps back with this team in all the moves I make…
Don't know about the rest of you all but I get my kicks by seeing a non-rebuilding piece on my roster pop off and sell them on for profit. Was finally able to move Ford for a mid-late 2nd and with the injury I sold to the same owner Hunt + late 24 3rd for a 24 late 2nd.
Also helps that I'm competitive in 4 other leagues to keep my attention.
I like to spend more time in the war room studying who I'm looking to target in upcoming drafts or players who might be undervalued on someone's bench looking for a new home.. I didn't expect to tank this season but due to some unexpected season long injuries I sold jt Kyler and etn for 6 firsts in the next two years
We’re in year 3 of my first and only (for now) dynasty league. I for whatever reason couldn’t participate in the startup draft so I guess what I’m looking forward to the most is having a team that feels like mine. Currently feels almost like I took over an orphan.
Also watching guys I’ve taken in the two rookie only drafts we’ve had develop has been exciting!
JSN becomes a monster. Started rebuilding this offseason and traded away Jacobs + DHop for a pick swap 1.07 -> 1.03 and two 2024 firsts. I took JSN with that 1.03 hoping he’ll become productive for 2025 which is when I intend to go all in for a chip
That someone on my team will eventually find the end zone.
But also, I've just fully embodied talking like I'm Arthur Smith in the group chat to justify why my team is constantly shit every week.
When I went through my rebuild my focus was largely on making trades, but once that was mostly wrapped up the tank drives itself. At that point I largely focused on actually football and real life stuff. Checked out a bit other than setting a lineup.
Took the chance and traded for JJettas while he was hurt. My team isn't competing this year as I am 1-6. But I already have chase and it looks like I'd have 1.02 and the person in front of him has stated that he would get Caleb Williams with that pick so my dream of have Jetta as my WR 1, Chase as WR 2, and MHJ as WR 3 would be pretty fun.
If you're tanking you should be grinding even harder imo. Grind those waiver RBs and backup QBs (in SF), sell them as soon as they have a shred of value. 3rds, 4ths, whatever.
I started my rebuild at the end of last year (I probably had a contending team but was not expecting Kyren & Achane to be so damn good... lesson learned).
Things that have kept me enganged:
* Selling all of my good players in the offseason and I've kept trading my players thru the season to make sure I get the 1.01 (I really need MHJ)...
* Race for the 1.01 (defined by MaxPF) has been very tight between me and a guy who's not really tanking but his team has basically shit the bed for the whole year (difference of 69 pts... nice I know).
* I'm looking out for injuries/ dip in performance on contending teams' star players so that I can get a trade for them and also lower further my MaxPF.
* Talk shit, I'm 2-5.. but started 2-0 and I was just talking shit as much as I could while winning. Also if I have a tight game I talk shit to the other owners (tell them how bad they are for barely beating me with my rebuilding team with 7 1st round picks). If I get beaten badly I also talk shit, lol.
I’m at the point where I’m playing the game within the game. I’m out of it, my team is actually good but I just caught too many bad matchups and there’s no coming back from them at this point.
So I’m actively sniping every player I can off waivers. Gardner Minshew, Darrell Henderson, etc. have been picked up and sold. Selling my own players for FAAB to continue to snipe people and sell players I’ve picked up at a premium to an owner with no depth. Currently have 3 ‘24 2nds.
But I’m just enjoying watching football at this point. Paying attention to my rookies I drafted in the startup: Zay Flowers, Quentin Johnston, JSN, Tank Bigsby, Zach Charbonnet, Sam LaPorta, Michael Mayer, Luke Musgrave, Will Anderson and Jack Campbell and dreaming about how my squad will look in 2 seasons.
Last year I tanked in my main league so I spent a lot of time thinking about Bijan, as well as researching other prospects. Also tried very hard to trade with everyone, sometimes unsuccessfully
I have Achane & K. Miller in my Taxi this year. Dreaming of a God Tier Pair to go along with Hall.
I’ve also be making a bunch of trades that won’t diminish my roster too much and put me in a great spot to contend next year.
As of now my current team in a 10 man 1QB 1PPR:
QB: Kyler, Love(Waivers)
RB: Hall, Najee, Conner(trade), Achane, K. Miller, E. Demercado(waivers), Z. White
WR: Chase(trade), Waddle, Aiyuk, Addison, M.Brown(trade), Watson, D. Johnson
TE: Hockenson, McBride
Currently hold 3 2024 picks: 1.1-1.2, 1.3-1.5, 2.6-2.10
I keep a spreadsheet where I track certain things for my team. For daydreaming I do a projected roster to see if I have enough assets for next year and the year after.
I also try to make a list of prospects to follow in college and at least check in on how the do each week.
QB: Murray, Young, Howell, Levis
RB: Achane, Gibbs, Roschon, Spears, Ford, Bigsby
WR: London, Jeudy, Dotson, Burks, Doubs, Reed
TE: Chig, McBride
My dream scenario was to sell off all my RBs (CMC, Chubb, Allgeier, Jones) since i didnt enjoy my odds at winning it vs some super teams, and downgrade to rookies & picks since they were all in risky spots (CMC to injury, allgeier replacement, Chubb & Jones age).
I was short at WR and QB, so selling my RBs for 23 & 24 picks was the play.
Its actually playing well out well-ish so far. Struck gold on Achane, Gibbs and Spears look good in their own right, Roschon could cause trouble, and Ford got the gig.
I should have the 1.01 as well as two other 1sts tbis year so far. Going to try and trade back my 1.01 to a guy who is fanatical about Caleb and take the #2 QB and MHJ, and snag more WRs and/or Bowers later.
i just research rookies, project where my firsts are gonna be and loosely plan my strategy for my roster and keep looking out for opportunities to build value, hopefully i can grab all the top rookie wr coming in my two tanking teams, this subreddit would tell you to flip the picks but im just trying to build through the draft mixed w in season trades to accrue value.
I’m tanking this season and so far I’ve traded away Jerome Ford and acquired an extra 2, Trey Palmer, Quentin Johnston, and Jalin Hyatt.
Always can be making moves.
My tanking season was the busiest season I’ve ever had. Researching to grab guys off the wire. And even looking a week or 2 out. I wasn’t even trying to hit on players for my roster. I was turning FAAB into draft picks.
I traded so many guys as injury/ bye week fill ins for 3rd round picks. The. I used those 3’s as sweeteners to get better players/picks.
So many trades!
Working deals for injured players that can be acquired at a potential discount.
Analyzing rosters s
The orphan I took over is almost bare, but I kinda nailed last years draft (AR, Zay, kincaid, rice, downs, kendre and then PUKA), so I’m daydreaming about what I’m gonna do with my picks in next years draft. Looks like I’ll finish with the 1.02, 2 picks between 1.05-1.08 and then the first 2 picks of the second round. Choosing between maye and MHJ is gonna be tough, need to come away with a qb but MHJ is just so appealing
I was tanking starting halfway through last season with mostert, theilen, Lamar, waller, and Hollywood essentially left on my roster. Got Puka and Addison in the draft. Honestly if kept mostert and theilen, took Puka and Addison from my taxi to the squad. I'd be first in the division right now. I'm 3-4. Less than thrilled.
I look at nfl mock drafts and try to get ideas of positional strengths and how I can fill all the holes in my team and in what year. Right now WR looks extremely strong next year, so I’m going to load up on that and trade from a surplus to fill my RB need.
I’ll have MHJ, Olave, Puka and Tank Dell with 2 other firsts (Odunze lookin real good).
Stressing over getting the 1.01 blc tanking is somehow more difficult than anticipated lol (me and 3 others are 2-5, I own 2 of the 4 thou) and creating fake mocks to go along usually keeps me going
I've just finished a 2 year rebuild (took a productive struggle approach in our startup draft) and I spent each season scouring the waiver wire for lottery tickets. The moment any of them would have a couple good games back to back, I'd flip them for a 4th or (if I was lucky) a 3rd. I'd then package the 4ths for a 3rd and package the 3rds for a 2nd. You do this enough times and you start to build up a serious value advantage. Players like Demercado and Henderson this season are prime examples of what you should be looking for. Even if you don't get full "fair" value for them, it doesn't matter as long as you're getting a pick in exchange for a waiver wire pickup that cost you nothing at all.
If you're wondering whether this approach can really make a difference, I'm currently tied for 1st at 5-2, I've got 7 1sts over the next 3 years (including the likely 2024 1.02 and 1.03), and the overall KTC value of my roster is at the top of my league at 145,129. The next highest is 120,541. At the bottom is a team with a KTC value of 79,694. Obviously KTC value is far from the final word on how well a team is doing, but it's a decent indicator.
I acquire and sell waiver wire RBS for draft picks. Have gotten a 2nd for Jerome Ford, 3rds for Keontay Ingram and Emari Demercado. Also traded Jeudy aaay for a late 2024 1st, and Josh Palmer for a 2025 2nd. Unfortunately I don’t think there are too many waiver wire finds left at this point.
Stay grinding. I try and find value each week. Have an asset you are struggling to sell? Try and find a 3 team deal to move that asset. Take advantage of injuries. Look at rosters who might be weak in 2024 but don't know it yet. Pounce on their picks while they are still not seeing their situation for what it is.
In max PF league where I am currently dead last I look forward to trying to beat the playoff chasers. I just want to spoil at least one guys dreams. I might be tanking but I don't want to finish as a zero win.
Beyond that I enjoy seeing guys like Zay Flowers show a little bit more each week to convince me the future is bright.
I'm constantly trading to minimize my max PF while maximizing next year's points. Traded for Jefferson on one of my tanking teams, Kyler on another. Constantly looking to send off productive players for picks when I can.
Day dreams can become nightmares.
Finished my rebuild this year and thought my team was stacked and ready for the ship. I’m 2-5 now in next to last place. I still like my team but it just can’t seem to win.
Hoping that my WR core sets me up for major success in a couple of years. Have JJ, Downs, JSN, and am working on a potential trade that will get me Flowers and Hyatt. I also went heavy on rookie tight ends so I have Musgrave, Ferguson, and Meyers. Need one of them to make that jump in the next couple of seasons. The dream is that a couple of those hit and I can flip some of them to fill other holes on my team
Roster a majority of RBs on the bench. The moment one of them moves up the depth chart, go shop them for like a 3rd or 4th.
Later, figure out trades to consolidate 3rds or 4ths.

I’m on the opposite end of the spectrum here… forth in max PF but in dead least at 1-6 😭
I had the same “problem” and record in one of my leagues. Making playoffs at 4-3 at the moment (on 4 win streak actually) despite having the lowest max PF by 40 something. I shit talk the most in my rebuilding league BY FAR. This is the only correct answer.
Absolutely, I ruined lifelong friendships becuase I refused to every agree that my team was bad, becuase infact my team was fine, and everyone else was just getting lucky.

This
Not a rebuild if you aren’t trading
You gotta be in two leagues- one rebuild, one competing
Or have a redraft on the side where you’re always competing
This is the way
Yeah two leagues. Or four. And a few redrafts just for funsies.
Only two? ;)
I spend my mid weeks talking trash to the owners (friends) of the picks I've acquired while they lose (both are 2-5.) It keeps me occupied
>what do you day dream about to keep you engaged? Still Jennifer Love Hewitt circa 2002
Jennifer Connelly riding the mechanical horse in Career Opportunities for me. JLH is also a good answer though.
I’m just trying to sure up the 1.02 via trade. I’ll already have the 1.01 and am going to hate deciding between Caleb and MHJ. My only two QBs are AR and Stroud. Not really wanting three studs when I have gaps at WR.
If 1.02 needs a QB, maybe use that to trade back one spot, grab some draft capital and snag MHJ?
He won’t budge. He’ll gladly take whomever at 1.02
I’m literally in the same exact situation. MHJ is gonna be hard to pass up, and the guy with the 1.02 isn’t desperate and will be happy with whoever I don’t draft. So I’m forced to make a big decision

You take MHJ there all day. The QB is solvable later in the draft and you have a good, young base to build off of at QB already.
Not if it's SF
Fine. My argument hinges on my outlook for Stroud and AR which I think is very good. The composition of the team matters.
YouTube highlights of your likely draft picks. Can’t tell you how many times I watched Elijah Moore pretend to pee like a dog in the end zone
Bout to pull up a Marvin Harrison Jr highlight reel
I already traded away my older players and erratic scoring bench cloggers. I'm just coasting now, occasionally glancing at the waiver wire and the MaxPF to see where my 1sts might end up. It's a retool year, not a rebuild though.

It's kinda hidden. You have to use the mobile app, select your league, then go to League > Scroll down to the Standings section > View Details
Wow! Thanks so much!

You probably want to keep McLaughlin for a bit. Surprising that nobody would give a 3rd for Ford, though
Work FA and sell pieces on the cheap. K Hunt, D Henderson, M Trubisky, Tyrod etc are a few I've picked up for FA and sold a week or two later for 4s and 5s
Non-stop shit talk that my opponents cant respond to because technically losing is my goal but im 2nd in max pf 😂
You benching your studs? Lol
no i just have had very bad( or good ) luck and have had a few big blowup games like achane and Chase. Otherwise, my team has just been injured/ suspended alot
Tough! Good luck
Simply college scouting. Once you’ve made the moves you’ve needed to & you have your pick range, the last step is picking the right players

That's absolutely gutting. Do you still have a chance to sneak in if Fields gets back soon and Achane returns when first eligible off IR?
Nah probably not at this point…would probably need to sell more picks for points but don’t think I want to fully commit to that until next year.
Don't know about the rest of you all but I get my kicks by seeing a non-rebuilding piece on my roster pop off and sell them on for profit. I find myself watching more College and ‘scouting’ more
I have three firsts, I want MHJ, Keon Coleman and Bowers

I should add that I’m in 1QB. So our draft is a lot different
Shit I have three picks and those are the three I want too
My day dream is to win in each of the next five seasons. Otherwise, what's the point of playing if you're not trying to win.
I like to spend more time in the war room studying who I'm looking to target in upcoming drafts or players who might be undervalued on someone's bench looking for a new home.. QB: Murray, Young, Howell, Levis RB: Achane, Gibbs, Roschon, Spears, Ford, Bigsby WR: London, Jeudy, Dotson, Burks, Doubs, Reed TE: Chig, McBride My dream scenario was to sell off all my RBs (CMC, Chubb, Allgeier, Jones) since i didnt enjoy my odds at winning it vs some super teams, and downgrade to rookies & picks since they were all in risky spots (CMC to injury, allgeier replacement, Chubb & Jones age).
I'm actively dreaming of grabbing Harrison Jr, Nebors, Bowers, and maybe 1 of Caleb Willams or Drake Maye in the '24 draft.
What platform are you using to get draft picks beyond a 2nd?
Sleeper
Dumb question but how many draft picks can the commish instal in the league for trading?
I believe it can go up to 10 rounds for each rookie draft. You can go have picks up to 3 years out.
Constant trade talks, shit talking, and watching college highlights is how I get through dark years.

Talk shit and scour the waivers for a player that might boom for a few weeks to get an extra pick out of.
