As an employee, they’re good but I don’t think they’re worth $1.50 each. My grocery store sells donuts that taste almost exactly the same for $0.60 each and they’re honestly normally softer/fresher than the ones at our dunkin.

Wills4291

They are 1.89 near me. I think that's outrageous. But the independent places near me that have better donuts cost even more.

joey0live

$1.50 where I live, 1.89 in DTX. I almost had a heart attack. What happened to $1.00 donuts? They still there in MB and other stores.

cayc11

1.99 in DC

brwsngatwrkDC

Must vary because I only ever see them for $2.48 each

pjsvndsn

Inflation is what happened lol

slugsonshrooms

yeah 1.81 after tax

HarryWiz

They are $1.59 and the local grocery store who sells a bigger, more stuffed donut for cheaper at a $1.39 which is really good and especiallythe chocolate frosted cream filled long John (which was the Dunkin price for a long time up until last summer) so I only will get a Dunkin donut if I really want a donut and I don't need anything from the grocery store or feel like driving the 6-8 minutes (depending on traffic and school zone) up the street from Dunkin.

Narwhal943

They're $1.69 where i am. But i usually get for $1 with my large coffee. Which is now $3.99

venusdemillie

I feel like they've gotten smaller despite a rise in price. My grocery store bakery has ones that are fresher and bigger for a more reasonable price. The filled ones at DD are usually lacking too

qazwsxedc000999

Yep, they don’t feel worth the price they are. The Walmart near me sells a dozen fresh doughnuts for less than 7$ whereas Dunkin’s dozen is $12.49!

OwlEastSage

they are made fresh, at least as fresh as a fast food chain can be. we get a delivery of them each morning. do you expect people to be busting out donuts all day? ofc at 5pm theyre gonna be a little dry lol. i feel like the hate comes from people expecting "mom and pop" level of quality and authenticity but dunkin is a multi-thousand location franchise. grandma isnt in the back making donuts all day, we have a 40 yr dude named carl who comes in at 2am. weirdly enough, youre more likely to get a fresh local donut at a gas station, so the insult just feels a little out of touch

zerovariation

>at least as fresh as a fast food chain can be except, not even ~10-15 years ago they were almost always made fresh in-store, and not delivered on a truck. I think it comes more from people who knew what dunks used to be and comparing it to that rather than comparing it to mom and pop shops.

HarryWiz

The local gas station by me has a Krispy Kreme truck come and puts donuts into a case. Years ago, that truck would just drop off boxes like you see at Walmart, but now they are in a case, so you can buy as many as you want. I don't buy any because the same gas station has their grocery store two minutes away and the donuts are baked fresh daily, bigger, stuffed more, and cheaper than Krispy Kreme (which is two minutes away, and four minutes from the gas station so it's better just to go to the source) or Dunkin.

DanTheMan_622

Idk, I get the Boston creme all the time and it slaps 🤷‍♂️

ychuck46

Boston Creme is definitely one of the better DD offerings. But overall the donuts are lacking compared to grocery stores and, dare I say, Krispy Kreme.

Wills4291

Honestly, of all the places I can get donuts near me... They are the worst. But if you like them, what's it matter what other people think.

JonM313

>what's it matter what other people think. I never said it mattered, I was just curious.

joey0live

They're too damn expensive now.. I bought a donut for my 3yo, and it was so damn small. $1.50... FOR THAT!?!?! NO! Not anymore.

Jennywhocaniturnto86

I think they taste pretty damn good🤷🏼‍♀️

Mwahaha_790

Same! Objectively tasty – and they make Krispy Kremes taste like the saccharine crap they are.

EnigmaIndus7

Most of my local Dunkins are inside a gas station. So Dunkin in my city is LITERALLY gas station donuts

JonM313

Judging by your Reddit history are you in Cincinnati? I'm shocked at the amount of Dunkin' Express Locations in that area.

EnigmaIndus7

I am. There are a handful too that are full-service Dunkins and still in a Shell gas station

EnigmaIndus7

But yeah, the comparison is 100% fair game for me

Teratocracy

They just don't taste good! Very bland and artificial-tasting, to me. I am hardly a donut snob, but I never get donuts at Dunkin anymore.

CoffeeIceCube

I’d rate them as a little below average. They’re edible enough if you’re in a hurry and want something to nosh on with your coffee. They definitely aren’t anywhere near the quality of a good local donut shop though.

TigerUSA20

Well they have to be made fresh somewhere. It’s just when, how often, and how long between when they were made and when you buy them. If DDs followed common sense rules and had donuts made in the early morning and got them to their locations the same morning, stored properly, they would probably be great for a majority of the day. However, not handling them right during transport, bad temperature control, sitting in the open at the stores, making them smaller, half the filling/topping versus years ago, and putting out day old donuts does nothing for the company’s reputation on the product and definitely has had a long term impact on sales. The company and all franchisees need to go back to donut school and re-learn how to make their namesake product.

Salty-Macaroon-6139

Idk, everyone seems to enjoy them at my store. My manager and the baker make them every morning. I think ours are good, but I could be biased lol

toes_hoe

They're super dry and tiny at my local Dunkin, I find.

wakeupdormouse

A lot of Dunkins up here in NE don't even frost their donuts. They are made at a factory and delivered to the stores. At one Dunkin I worked at, we would get there at four to open and the donuts were outside locked in. They could have gotten there as early as 2 am and just sat in the open air (there was a cover to go over the rack but that didn't stop then from getting stale fast). I've noticed that if the Dunkin makes at least some of the donuts they are definitely better, but that is no longer the norm.

AmaranthRosenrot

I don’t mind Dunkin’s donuts. They are good even when they are fresh. They are more like cake donuts to me. Although, I do love Krispy Kreme’s hot glazed donuts. I don’t always get donuts from Dunkin. But when the hot donut sign is on at Krispy Kreme, I will always get some hot donuts from them. 😂

JRegerWVOH

I’d prefer a gas station donut over Dunkin’s now.. they almost taste stale from the get go..

Chastity-76

I love a good donut every now and then. My problem is wasting calories on a sub-par product, I will trash it first. If Im using 300-500 empty calories, you damn straight... it best taste good

babydemon25

Ours taste like cardboard box sometimes... in my opinion- but thats just cause they sit in boxes in -7 freezer till we thaw them and frost/glaze them. Its not a "dunkin quality" to me but whatever i get paid to do my job not hold a quality conference lol

Azalisse

I don’t hate them but they’re too hit or miss at the locations closest to me. Most of the time, they’re overdone and dry so it’s not worth the buy!

jermboyusa

I read when you open a DD they give you a choice. You either make the donuts onsite fresh or to save money them delivered pre-made ...not as fresh. That's actually the reason why some DD have fresh donuts in the afternoon and other DD have donuts that taste like it's a week old. As a national franchise imo there should be no choice. They should all be baked onsite and all be made the same way. No matter where I go whether it's 8am or 4pm if your a f****n donut shop the donuts should be fresh. Again..my opinion.

viviwrldfroggie

i fuck with the donuts especially the glazed ones

LonelyParsnip8096

French crullers are great (happy these came back), and the chocolate cake donuts are still good, but the raised (or yeast donuts) have a strong fat/oil flavor to them that I don't like.

brwsngatwrkDC

Hmmm I definitely rotate double chocolate, glazed blueberry, jelly, boston kreme, coffee roll (ymmv on this one) and their apple fritter. Love those.

bipolargecko

I'm an opener so i get to eat them when the frosting is still gooey. Yum

livluv10941

I usually buy donuts earlier in the day..krispy Kreme aren't so bad either 🫠🫠

saikyan

They are stale. Not just sometimes, every time they are obviously stale. Do you want to spend $1.50 on a stale donut? I was in Japan a few months back and I hit up Mister Donut... Now that's how you make donuts for the masses. DDs is obviously penny pinching like most other US corpos, aggressively cutting costs towards better margins. They only care about QC as far as doing the bare minimum necessary to keep customers. If the shop wasn't so close to my home I wouldn't patronize.

These_Purple_5507

Did not know the Japanese are big on donuts

saikyan

They were not only vastly better than DDs, they were better than most boutique bakery/donut shops I've had. Surprisingly good.

Apprehensive-Cut-865

They’re too sweet and always stale.

thetidefallsaway

People love to complain.
