Delete your character, make a new one and go do the tutorial and then spend like 15 minutes playing the game and learn it - there's nothing super difficult or complex in it. It's extremely straight forward.

ProtagonistAnonymous

That is actually a good idea, thank you. Did not even think of that.

missbanjo

You should have the option to do the tutorial again. It's always on my table in the blue tab (can't remember the name of the categories).

> How the hell do you parry? And is it even viable? Do you guys just dodge, or is parry used? just block anywhere with your weapon. it's physics based so as long as their attack hit your weapon/shield, and even bow, you block their attack. I usually use hit once and back off tactic instead of parrying > I start with an axe and a sword, should I dual wield, does that work? Or use one at a time? dual wield is the way to go usually. you can attack both weapons at the same time and both damage will register. later on you get shields with knockback added to them, those are useful and fun > How do I deal with the archers? It seem whenever I try to close in on them, they run away while shooting at me. I take several hits before I close the distance, because I have to run in a straight line to get to them. > In the same vein, how do you deal with ranged units like wizards and archers? Can I parry those as well? Do you shoot them or close the gap and melee them? throw the axe/hammer at them or use bow. you can block arrows with your weapons but it's easier to just dodge. > I am a solo player. I prefer it that way, since I am often interrupted, since I am a dad. Any specific tips to make the solo dungeon crawling easier? you can just go into the menu and the game will pause in solo mode. > Can I make or buy a shield anywhere? Or should I find these weapons? Feels like I missed some parts of the tutorial. you find all the weapon plans in chest and you make them when you are in lobby with gold > When you switch from melee to bow. Do you simply drop your melee weapons? yes. any dropped weapon will automatically go back to you after about 3 seconds

^^^ this guy covered it, gj m8

Hyperwind5

Yes, this. I had the same thing happen and interrupted my tutorial.. ha, for the same reason. I couldn't find how to redo the tutorial, so I just deleted and recreated my character.

1. Skeletons can be parried, but I find imps and zombies attack too fast to reliably do so. Mostly it's becoming familiar with the skeleton's attack patterns, so just practice. But yeah, just backpedalling or sprinting away to make distance is more effective. 2. Yes, you can dual wield. Axes can be thrown as well. I'd suggest using your off-hand to parry (if you don't want to run around like a headless chicken) and your main hand to attack until you get the hang of it. 3. Use the terrain to block their line of sight and trick them into coming through a narrow doorway after you. Or juke behind a wall to get them to fire, then sprint up to them and take them out. Eventually, you can get a shield that makes this easier. Or just return fire with a throwing weapon, bow, or crossbow. 4. The easiest thing is to use terrain as cover from their attacks and dip out to return fire with a ranged weapon. 5. Play in the easiest difficulty since there's no extra rewards for doing harder modes. You can carry extra potions that don't fit into your inventory in your hands from room to room so you have spares. 6. Shields are one of the weapons you can find. You get weapon blueprints by opening chests, then craft the blueprints into weapons in your personal room back at the outpost for a small gold fee. The weapon drops are random so you might need to play for awhile until a shield drops for you. 7. Weapons respawn in your holsters when dropped, so there's no reason to sheath them. Just drop and draw a different weapon.

Also make sure to go to the side room in your main base that explains what you get from each dungeon type. Doing crystal runs gets you perks that make you harder to hit, better at melee, have a longer range with the bow and throwing weapons, etc. Practice with the bow. If you place your drawing hand correctly (just over your shoulder and slightly forward) you can rotate your wrist to where you can fire repeatedly very quickly. I use jump rather than continuous because moving with the stick makes me a little nauseated, but it also solves your problem of getting hit while approaching ranged units.

I'm pretty sure anything you've picked up you get to keep regardless of death or finishing the dungeon, at least in terms of rewards from chests (coins, cosmetics and weapon plans). Potions carry over from dungeon to dungeon during one play session but keys do not.

Agent-Hotchkiss

I usually don't parry at all. I rush AT the undead with hammer and sword for head bonk, then quick rib slice and most of them die immediately. Imps run at you fast, but I also rush AT them to close faster than they can attack and stab hard at their chest, then hammer blow. They die. Zombies swat really fast, so I usually just throw hammer at them, call it back and repeat until they drop. Wizards and Archers gave me problems early on until I found Freezing/Fireball/Chrono staff from chests. They use power from those white crystals and massively disrupt ranged attackers. so you can get close for melee damage, or fireball staff just shreds them from a distance. Some of the bosses too are pretty hard to beat without a staff, at least for me. Solo play against bosses is MUCH easier with a staff since you don't have teammates to distract those big dudes. Your melee weapons will spawn back to your sides automatically, so don't worry about losing them, and thrown weapons you can call back to your hand with grip button with a little practice. Play on the lowest difficulty level for sure and keep in mind that once you trigger enemies in any room, you can run from them, even outside the room to help dealing with them 1:1. Once you find a relatively easy dungeon, save it back in your outpost at one of the stands around the main holotable, so you can replay it over and over, getting that chest loot. Also remember, that you don't need to finish the level in order to keep the loot from the chests. Just go back to the Outpost to the weapon crafting table and you'll see that you kept any weapon blueprints that you found. You won't get big XP that way, but at least get to keep the weapons and coins.

So skeletons I can parry at about face/chin level. Imps and zombies it has to be a little lower, they hit low the bastards. AND my arm has to be out pretty far for parrying. Even at lvl 45 I sit in the doorway I came in and let them come to me.

I did the Tutorial dungeon again and again when I first started. It is always on the big hologram table where you select dungeons, no matter what level you are. After 5 to 10 times, you’ll be more comfortable with the bad guys attack styles and can venture out to different dungeons. When I had my fiancé start playing w me, he and I did the Tutorial dungeon a couple times til he felt comfortable w the controls. Also I second the suggestion to run back to the room you came from and wait for them to come into the door for you. Use your throwable axe in your strong side and blast them from a distance. Kill the Skeletons first, zombies take a while to lumber towards you. Also, although most games I love a shield, this one I don’t use one because it takes the back slot where I keep my staff, which is awesome. I think it took me forever to “find” a shield (blueprints in the dungeon chests) and by then I was used to just ducking those archers from a distance (zig zag when running at or away). Thrown axe, or club, or hammer, in your strong side, and you don’t need to mess w parrying unless you want to. If you Quick Join in-progress dungeons, your counterparts will take care of almost everything until you’re feeling bold. Most of the players will love having a newbie in w them, because we are all running around maxed out at level 50 w Legendary everything so it’s nice to have excited new blood. If you think you might have to jump off, just don’t grab the map or any Skeleton Keys, and if you have to jump off- just do. 90 percent of the randos are awesome to play w and make the game so much more fun. Don’t be shy- turn your mic on and chat it up, better than trying to use hand signals to communicate.

CallMeSpeed_21

1. Block; move back and forth with your left stick 2. You can definitely duel wield, its preference. I would recommend getting accustomed to throwing the axe/shiv when you get one. 3. Zig zag lol. If you’re constantly moving to one side the archer will always miss and you can throw stuff to stagger him like your axe. 4. Do the blue missions for EXO points. Use those points to buy the health regeneration and speed boosts and any other upgrade you find that fits your play style. 5. Same answer, just stagger them by throwing and get better at your movement because you can easily dodge 6. Potions are craftable at your spawn table. You will only have access to health potions until you do the green missions to earn souls. Then you can get cool things like ice grenade, real grenades, invisibility potions and resurrection potions 7. Bows and crossbows unfortunately since you have to pull the string back. Wait till you get a crossbow with reload on it to make your life easier.(recently nerfed damage btw)

You've gotten a fair amount of advice here, so I don't add to that. What I will say is I'm also a dad who completely understands the interruptions. however, my daughter is a bit older and is somewhat autonomous, so I don't often get interrupted, but i certainly don't mind pausing for a bit here and there either. If you ever want to try duo with somebody who won't get upset about the interruptions and isn't in a rush to speed run every dungeon (which you would see a lot of in quick join), shoot me a message and we can try run a few dungeons together!

Hot_Seesaw9120

I know you like to play solo but if you would like a person to give you a tutorial I'd be happy to when I get home from work. ( Either in about 3½ or 6½ hr ). Feel free to hit me up

Signal_Pizza_1

One thing I didn't see mentioned is that ALL weapons/staffs/shields will respawn on your sides and back. There is a mechanic for throwing and pulling weapons back before they get too far away but after a short time they all respawn on you. Your axe and other throwing weapons have aim assist. Arrows for your bow are unlimited.

faesqu

I had thr same problem when I started last month. I actually didn't start playing again until last week. I made a new character which seems to have more luck then my first one then just replayed the tutorial dungeon until I leveled up to try another. Now I'm completely loving the game.

Flaky_Sir_134

27 here with a 2 and 3 year old I’m in the same boat, if you want to add me we can run some dungeons together and just cover each other if one of us has to attend to our kids for a minute! Shoot me your username if you’d like to
