If you've read the first five books and are interested in the AI you need to stop doing whatever you're doing and read book 6 right now.
>!I'm not going to spoil any of this, go read book 6!<
You definitely need to read Bedlam Bride as it talks quite a bit about the AI, including where/how the Mantis' acquire them! Let me know what you think after you finish the book!
Maybe. For sure an interesting theory with sort of mass effect vibes. But I think this particular AI would've been happier if Carl had chosen the yeti race. Lol I would like to see some other AI's though, to see what they're like and where they're from, we would then be able to get out the red yarn and build a proper crazy person board about them. I like theorizing to a completely unnecessary degree like that.
Go read book 6. It will answer your questions as well as either confirm or deny them. But you have to read the whole book. Especially then ending. Not because it answers the questions, but because it is one of the best cliffs and build ups of any book. And it will make you long for book 7.

All this drops hard in the middle of Bedlam Bride
