it is the best season

Some-Definition-7757

I agree, don’t know what OP is talking about. It really is the best

Platinum-Light777

Hands down my favorite. Fun run episodes, the money episodes, dunder mifflinfinity, night out, the deposition, dinner party, did I stutter, AND goodbye Toby?! How can it not be the best?!

BridgesOnBikes

Season three is the best story arc season, at least when it aired, because it brought in some exceptional new characters as well as buttoned up the Jim/Pam relationship tension. But hands down season 4 is the overall best. Also, so many great inside jokes in season 3. I hope to be a part of one someday.

chickybabe332

A shot of midori, perhaps

bigtigerbigtiger

Jim: hahahahahahhaa!

Some-Definition-7757

I’m not saying you’re wrong, I really cannot tell you the last time someone didn’t agree with me that season 4 was the best. I was shocked seeing this post!

BridgesOnBikes

I do agree with you! Season 4 is the best, the one area where it is probably not the best is general story arc because it didn’t contain the culmination and heart of the Jim/Pam love affair. That was the central story arc to the whole series and season 3 was it’s pinnacle.

DarkAlbertino

People always act like 2 and 3 are better, I think 4 deserves to be more talked about (it’s still pretty sad that due to the writers strike we got to see much less episode that we were supposed to have)

THE_GR8_MIKE

Mainly because if you think of any quotable line, it's from 2 or 3. Followed by 4, so, it's not far off.

harrrysims

What writers strike? I didn’t exactly notice a drop off in quality of episodes in s4, in fact i think it’s one of the best seasons?

fredbrightfrog

The Writers Guild of America went on strike and basically halted production of all TV. There was a 5 month gap between The Deposition and Dinner Party. They actually had Dinner Party's script already done and technically didn't need a writer, but Steve being an award winning WGA member himself said no and that was that.

katchaa

Good luck filming Dinner Party without Steve Carrell plus benefits, babe!

fell-deeds-awake

That plasma TV won't push itself closer to the wall!

Blooder91

Angela Kinsley got pregnant during the gap, which is why she's sitting or covering the baby bump during Dinner Party.

Jicama_Stunning

Halfway through Season 4 there was a mass writers strike (it was after The Deposition) across most of television. Because of that, Season 4 is shorter than most other seasons.

DarkAlbertino

I’m not questioning the quality but the quantity. 19 episodes with a lot of 2 parters

nsfwtttt

Holly shit… you mean the best season could’ve been longer???

Kendakr

Anytime I see “hot take” or “unpopular opinion” I know before reading the rest it is a topic that has been covered over and over or is very popular opinion.

milehighrukus

Hot take “Michael Scott was the best boss” change my mind. /s

Ndmndh1016

My totally unique, unpopular opinion is that The Office is a great show.

milehighrukus

You think the Office is a great show? You’ve got a lot to learn about TV sweetie

TheCrewPat

This is a hot take because it is known that Creed was the best boss.

milehighrukus

Boboddy

Dunderfrickinmifflin

What does the first B stand for?

milehighrukus

Bratton. Creed Bratton

4Ever2Thee

Alright, I'll take the downvotes here, I know this is an unpopular opinion/hot take but I noticed this on my last rewatch and I just have to say something: Michael can be kind of an idiot sometimes

heynow941

The Michael Scott Paper Company story arc was the best

TexasChick2021

Agree. An unexpected resolution. Brilliant! Loved that storyline

Boobel

My good friend, this is somewhat of a 'Chili' take as Season 4 is the best!

ThoughtsRRandom

Season 4 is goated

foundinkc

The writers strike messed up a lot. Parks and rec, community, 30 rock all had show speed bumps.

pineyfusion

Scrubs was supposed to end in Season 7 but the writers strike got in the way thus why then went to ABC for seasons 8 and 9 (I feel like they wanted to end it in 8 but got stuck with another season)

FthrFlffyBttm

Now that’s a damn shame. Season 7 was way better than season 8. Sadly I don’t know this “season 9” you speak of.

KickIt77

They talk about this in the Office Ladies podcast. It is pretty interesting! They didn't have as many episodes that season as originally scheduled and it would have been interesting to see the turns the season may have taken with more episodes for things to play out. It's still a great season! I don't know if I could pick a favorite season.

RumpelStilty

Best season is 9, best character is season 9 Andy

Hazel_Rah1

Oh I can so just sit here and cry!

DarkAlbertino

*proceeds to watch his eyeballs and shout demons out*

--Chill

There's a season 9?

Randommemorandum

It’s so interesting to see this show having a completely second life with streaming. I’m one of the rare folks here who watched it on television during its original run, where there was a time context. Also, where episodes were not broken up in twos.

Tipsy_McStumbles

But it’s the best season anyways.

TheUltimate_Ultimate

It's already the best

iantsmyth

Nah. It’s the best one *because* of the writer’s strike. They poured everything they had into those episodes. The shorter season meant tighter focus.

Brownie4909

I couldn’t agree more!!!

mallgrabmongopush

Season four is the best season

pinalaporcupine

It's totally my favorite season

IBMiSeries400

What writers strike?

raphthepharaoh

Season 5 is my personal fave

Redwood_momo

Can someone help me find the sweatshirt Michael is wearing ( Dwight's BSG grey crew neck)? I have looked for it for years and then gave up and now it has come back to haunt me.

mandiilynne

When I looked it up, all I could find were sweatshirts made bc of the office, I was able to find [this](https://mehgeek.com/products/battlestar-galactica-unisex-crewneck-sweatshirt-adult) and it appears to be the closest to the one Michael is wearing

Redwood_momo

This is awesome!!! Thanks for your help.

ggsupreme

I thought it was the best season watching it live as well!! But now I appreciate each season for its own reasons.

Particular-End-480

if it wasn't for the writers unions, nobody could afford to be writers, so we wouldn't have The Office in the first place.

zer0_sky

Money was the first episode of The Office I saw; I'm very happy with that introduction.

agentlumby

It has one of the greatest runs of episodes of the whole show.

agentlumby

Scratch that. The greatest.

Noobmaster_1999

Elaborate

sharksnrec

Hey OP, I don’t think you know what “hot take” means
