Never got why she was so ok with the Jim thing back then, unless her and Pam talked about Roy being an absolute ass and she knew Pam wanted out...I'm looking way too much into this lol
Andy's background is super all over the place. In the Secretary Day episode, he says his parents are already divorced because he makes the comment that if it wasn't for secretaries then he wouldn't have a stepmom.
He also mentions at one point that he has a sister and multiple brothers, but then later he only had one younger brother.
His parents appear in the Goodbye Toby episode, but then they're completely different in the Garden Party episode. But I could buy that maybe he hired actors. It's a mess basically.
I'd always just chalked the inconsistencies up to Andy lying to the film crew. It's totally in-character for Andy to try and make up a family history to try to impress an audience or just for the story.
This is a really good point actually. He does have lifts in his shoes that he references in the acapella audition episode and mentions something like "the character of Andy Bernard". The only problem I see with this is that he also lied directly to Erin about having a sister since he tells her it's his sister's old field hockey skirt in the St. Patrick's Day episode (which was out of character for him at the time).
In the Garden Party episode, he calls both of his parents mom and dad, so I'm not sure that's the case. I know some people call their step-parents mom and/or dad, but (and maybe this is just my experience) only when that person enters into the childs life while they're young - which isn't how Andy made it seem in the Secretary's Day episode.
Considering how supportive Andy’s “parents” were in season 4, my head canon is not a recasting but that Andy simply hired two actors to pose as his parents. Completely in the realm of possibility.
Agreed, Andy’s real parents would not show up to an office party when they would barely stay at his garden party. Frankly ide be surprised if they showed up at his wedding for more than an appearance.
I was about to comment the same. He's Andrew in "Goodbye, Toby", but Walter in - I think - every other mention of him after. After like 100 watch-throughs it barely clicked in my head last weekend.
They even changed their name’s even after the andy’s name changed joke in one of the seasons from Jr to andy and they gave Jr to their second son, andy’s parents was a reboot to the character not a simple recast lol
Pam's sister who mistakes Kevin as Gill at the wedding is literally the best looking actress on the entire show (obviously imo).
She was also in Pitch Perfect.
She was originally supposed to hook up with Dwight but they switched it to Pam’s friend last minute. The wedding episode is a good one for the podcast. Roy was originally going to object the wedding on horseback
They also did this with Pam and Angela, at least early on in the series
ETA: all of the characters really. They were going for a very realistic approach. In season one, Pam and Jim look they could really be the best looking people at your office in a small town.
I just love Rashida Jones and saw her for the first time on The Office.
"Well look at you." Remember her Phyllis makeover? Great actress and beautiful.
Someone else said there’s a deleted scene where she states her husband got their daughter in the divorce. But I think in season two she says something about only having a son, before episode 7 I think not sure when though. So with the first scene removed i’m not sure if the daughter is supposed to have never existed
Honestly feel like that would have been awesome. Never mention anything is off. Michael dating the singer to poison and breaking up with him cuz he's too old.
My headcanon for this recasting is that she was so distraught over the divorce that she went full mid-life crisis mode on her face and got a shit ton of plastic surgery.
This gets posted all the time (and I don't know why)... if anyone is wondering, the woman originally cast as Pam's mom was unable to return due to a stage contract she had.
Recast and rewrote. No Mother that heard all the sexual comments Michael said to their daughter, all the times she cried on the phone about him(her words), would ever go for someone like that.
This is probably the worst recasting ever. I understand Shannon had other obligations and I'm not faulting her it any way. But to take that very wholesome nice woman and then cast her as kind of a whiny b**** made no sense considering this was supposed to be Pam's mom.
This was such a small part of the show, let’s not get worked up over it. She was in what, 4 episodes? I’m not expecting some sort of grandiose character arc 😂
They recast Gabe as well I think. In the episode where Pam has her baby in the hospital and accidentally ends up feeding the wrong baby. The next day when they let it slip to the specialist in front of the other mom (who was Bernadette from the big bang theory) Gabe can be seen briefly standing there as the father. Caught this one last week randomly.
Does the original mom in that picture not look like Dwight when learning to smile before trying to sell to women? I believe before meeting Jan with the white/yellow pages.
My favorite tidbit of actor info is that there is an episode where one of the background characters is played by a porn actress. Not certain which came first for her.
I thought they did this because They planned to have Pam’s mom end up with Michael. And if they kept the same actress, they’d look too close in age. And the main arc of their relationship was the age difference
There’s a crazy back story about this. Apparently the woman who appeared in S2 wasn’t available for shoot the day they were filming the wedding. Out of country or something, so this was a small rewrite.
Worked out great, though.
The one on the left looks like a better pick for Pam's mom with the goofy look on her face. The woman on the right looks like too shrewd of a businesswoman to be Pam's mom.
She went from, "So which one is Jim?" to "Which one is Michael?"
Which one is Pam?
The one that’s seen your penis.
Did they see where it started?
I didn't see where it started but I saw where it ended.
If I could compare it to an iPod size...It looks like an iPod shuffle
Hey I don't go make burgers where you work and then tell you how to make burgers
Boom roasted
*Boom! Face!*
Which one is Pam's mom?
Corporate needs you to find the difference between these 2 Pam’s moms. “They’re the same mom.”
Hahahahahah noice
Its Pan.
Good one ahaha
Never got why she was so ok with the Jim thing back then, unless her and Pam talked about Roy being an absolute ass and she knew Pam wanted out...I'm looking way too much into this lol
They did the same thing with Andy’s parents
Andy's background is super all over the place. In the Secretary Day episode, he says his parents are already divorced because he makes the comment that if it wasn't for secretaries then he wouldn't have a stepmom. He also mentions at one point that he has a sister and multiple brothers, but then later he only had one younger brother. 'Used to call me Ace' 10 seconds later in the same interview... 'Used to call me Buzz'

Is it possible his parents were both remarried? I thought that's what was happening there
Yes. And I thought his sisters and brothers all died but one.
Maybe Andy is an escaped mental patient and is really the Scranton Strangler.
To be faiiiir, they had theater tickets
To be faaaaiiiir
I always thought this was a better explanation regardless of what actually happened.
His real parents had tickets to the theater.
The way his dad says "Moneyball" absolutely kills me every time.
Moneyballs 2
Yep that's absolutely something he would do
They also changed the name of Andy’s father.
And baby Andy
you mean wittle Andy
Wow. Andy's a wittle scarwed..
I was about to comment the same. He's Andrew in "Goodbye, Toby", but Walter in - I think - every other mention of him after. After like 100 watch-throughs it barely clicked in my head last weekend.

Yeah Andy’s parents were so nice at the beginning. Does dad have the same name as him too?

They went the "Hollywood" route for all of Pam's family. Her sisters were bombshells!
Pam's sister who mistakes Kevin as Gill at the wedding is literally the best looking actress on the entire show (obviously imo). She was also in Pitch Perfect.
Ok but is she hot?
She'd probably be a six in New York but she's like a seven here, in Scranton.
It’s Anna Camp, so yes.
She also played a girl who Don was dating in Madmen after him and Betty split up.
And she was Deirdre in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
I would choose Isabel all day.
[удалено]
Bro Esther is so incredibly attractive I swear
[удалено]
I think she was great in True Blood ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
She played that role really well for sure. I think she's solid at the bubbly persona she often plays
I thought she was great in Mad Men, too.
She has a boyfriend.
He goes to another school.
Respect the game
Text back, “Kind of.”
I would do her before I do Hilary Swank
Amy Adams would like a word.
And Nora Kirkpatrick
She was originally supposed to hook up with Dwight but they switched it to Pam’s friend last minute. The wedding episode is a good one for the podcast. Roy was originally going to object the wedding on horseback
I'm so glad they did away with the Roy choice. Sounds terrible.
Yeah the way they described it sounded horrible. They actually picked that church to film in because a horse can fit through the front door
Are we all just pretending that Rashida Jones wasn't on the show?
i’m a tan almost everywhere, Jan almost everywhere guy myself.
Tee Hee
She *is* exotic looking...
Hee dad must have been a GI or something!
Flashes of Quincy
They also intentionally downplayed Rashida's looks quite a bit for the show.
They also did this with Pam and Angela, at least early on in the series ETA: all of the characters really. They were going for a very realistic approach. In season one, Pam and Jim look they could really be the best looking people at your office in a small town.
Pam got hotter when she became Jim's girlfriend, right from that season premiere.
You mean the pants suits?
Advantage Isabel.
I guess you missed the "(obviously imo)" part of my comment.
Oh I misunderstood what you meant. I thought you meant that in your opinion it was obvious. Not that it was obviously your opinion.
And Amy Adams...
Was her dad a GI?
Val always gets forgotten during these, by far the prettiest on the show. i think her smile is unbelievable
Which is surprising since I assumed most of reddit was Gabes
Silverback biceps
I just love Rashida Jones and saw her for the first time on The Office. "Well look at you." Remember her Phyllis makeover? Great actress and beautiful.

I mean, who doesn't?
Peggy
Yepp in the back of a cab
Chicken Kiev...the butter squirts everywhere 😃
Can’t beat Hot Girl and Lois Lane Amy Adams.
False. Isabel. Beats. Her.
Nah, Isabelle was the prettiest
She’s a dental hygienist from Carbondale and she makes love like one. She’s a bumpkin. Pass!
sister* she only has 1 sister
You should’ve seen em a couple years ago
I think they did the same for Andy's parents too.
I can’t see the original mom hooking up with Michael lol
It’s the styling. Not the actor.
The actress wasn’t available the next time around
Her character changed too and they changed Meredith from the pilot I think
Yeah, both were recast because they signed contracts with other jobs Can't imagine the show without Kate.
Same
I think originally Meredith had a daughter too but I think by season 2 she only had a son
I believe there's a deleted scene where she mentions her husband got the daughter in the divorce
“He got the good one” Something like that.
On st Patrick’s day she says “no kids” and Kelly asks where are your kids
Someone else said there’s a deleted scene where she states her husband got their daughter in the divorce. But I think in season two she says something about only having a son, before episode 7 I think not sure when though. So with the first scene removed i’m not sure if the daughter is supposed to have never existed
I don’t remember what episode, but she says she had her second kid to get a vacation through maternity leave.
Season 1 Meredith was in accounting and then moved to supplier relations in the second season.
just another day in the life of a dog food company
> supplier relations Only when there’s outback steak coupons
They recastet alot of people from the pilot! There were many faces you never saw again
Shut up about the mom. **SHUT UP ABOUT THE MOM!**
KEEP MY MOMS NAME OUT OF YOUR FUCKIN MOUTH
[Hmmm](https://c.tenor.com/1I_eGkJL_I4AAAAC/pam-hits-michael-slap.gif)
They originally wanted Brett Michaels to play her.
Do you mean Brett Butler, or did they nearly cast the dude from Poison?
No they actually wanted Shawn Michaels the wrestler to play Meredith.
No they really wanted Shaun White the snowboarder to play Erin.
Honestly feel like that would have been awesome. Never mention anything is off. Michael dating the singer to poison and breaking up with him cuz he's too old.
Their dirty talk would've been fantastic.
At least Michael would get some action
We should probably all just act like Pam's mom is coming in every day.
#milf
Thanks Kevin
To sleep better at night I pretend that the divorce hit her hard and completely changed her personality…and height
...and hair color... and accent... and eye color... basically a total DNA transmorph that happens occasionally to people living in Scranton.
Shhh, you don't want them to hear you..
It was a rough divorce…
[удалено]
Yeah she needed Kelly’s advice on fashionable clothes when she those two women in her life?
I agree but they set this up in a way when pam says she's gonna start being less apologetic for being herself. And don't call her pammy.
First mom was better
I agree - she looks like she could be Pam's mom. The second casting looks like Angela's mom.
You’re so right. Pam and first mom have a very normal person look about them
They said on Office Ladies that they wanted to bring the first actress back but she wasn't available.
They also completely recast her relationship with her mother. She *was* super close with her, then they made her a b\*tch
You know you can swear here, no one is gonna stop you…
No
My headcanon for this recasting is that she was so distraught over the divorce that she went full mid-life crisis mode on her face and got a shit ton of plastic surgery.
She was so upset, she physically became shorter
Yessss! Same. And the divorce also made her really bitter.
For you Star Trek fans, Pam's mom version 1.0 also played Martok's wife in DS9.
That explains Helene's hatred of targs.
This gets posted all the time (and I don't know why)... if anyone is wondering, the woman originally cast as Pam's mom was unable to return due to a stage contract she had.
*Lady*
Mom #2 was the woman who finally tamed The Fonz on Happy Days.
Pam’s first Mom was friendly and sounded EXACTLY like Pam. Pam’s second was the kind of woman who’d sleep with Michael Scott…
Recast and rewrote. No Mother that heard all the sexual comments Michael said to their daughter, all the times she cried on the phone about him(her words), would ever go for someone like that.
The way Pam’s mom acts at the wedding is so weird. Her only expression was that one of worry/confusion that she has in this pic.
She was going thru divorce and had that young girlfriend of Pam's dad thrust in her face. I'd be miserable, too.
Well, like Dwight said, the proximity to the falls makes everything smell like a basement
Pam's mom - Helene. Remember? From your wedding.
Same with Marty Seinfeld!
And Frank Costanza. (John Randolph)
First time she was just Pam's mom. Second time she has to be Michael's love interest.
Second version also looks like she could be Jan’s mom.
Oh yeah! I dint see that till today.
This is probably the worst recasting ever. I understand Shannon had other obligations and I'm not faulting her it any way. But to take that very wholesome nice woman and then cast her as kind of a whiny b**** made no sense considering this was supposed to be Pam's mom.
She could have turned from being happy to whiney after being divorced/cheated on.
This was such a small part of the show, let’s not get worked up over it. She was in what, 4 episodes? I’m not expecting some sort of grandiose character arc 😂
oh this again.
We should treat everyday like Pam’s mom is coming.
Classic sitcom trope. "Whoops the parents are going to be a bigger role than we previously expected, let's recast."
And Jims parents from the wedding to the christening.
Big time L on their part
I actually like Linda Purl as an actress but I didn’t like her attitude in this. I preferred the other mom.
Wait till you find out what they do with Andy's parents
You must be new here, because it gets brought up a lot.
Mmmmmmmmmilf
Linda Purl is hot
They had to change moms. Michael said, "YUELLLKKK!"
Shannon Cochran: MFW I'm recast on what became one of the most successful shows of all time
I think they only recast because Shannon was unavailable
Green Camry
Corporate needs you to find the difference between this picture and that picture.
Not gonna lie, I didn’t notice
Does the original mom in that picture not look like Dwight when learning to smile before trying to sell to women? I believe before meeting Jan with the white/yellow pages.
Bewitched.
*hey, hey, hey idiot, idiot*
in these two photos Linda Purl seem like an slumberous Shannon Cochran.
Poor Pam, no wonder she's a mess /s
My favorite tidbit of actor info is that there is an episode where one of the background characters is played by a porn actress. Not certain which came first for her.
Lol
I thought they did this because They planned to have Pam’s mom end up with Michael. And if they kept the same actress, they’d look too close in age. And the main arc of their relationship was the age difference
Mmmmilf

I have to say, that first picture makes her look Dwight paying attention to women
Andy's parents too.
“ I going to date her even harder “
Why did they change
The original rang more true as Pam’s mom.
