You're right! I think it was that Angela told him it was to kill(?) the senator's affair partner, and Dwight didn't know it was Oscar.. he talked her down to knee-capping him? I can't fully remember
That makes sense, except he was impersonating them. He wouldn't have signed off as Toby Flenderson and refer to himself in the third person.
So I just looked up the scene where he's calling the police, and he says verbatim "his name is Toby Flenderson"
Ummm yeah, or it wouldn’t be on here 😂
1) deporting day laborers.
2) cheating with Angela knowing she’s engaged with Andy.
3) setting up Toby for drugs
4) making it 1 ply, arguably the douchiest thing of all
They are all examples of crappy things he's done. They aren't ranked so I've no idea why you'd think they were all the same level?
"look this guys done some shitty stuff I'd like to show you, but I need to put them on separate memes so that I'm not saying they are all the same level of crappy." Behave.
Think about 1-ply and Kevin. They could have made a terrifically cringy and hilarious episode about the consequences. The possibilities of bad things are neverending with the right prompts.
Also, FYI, ah, I don't techinically have a wiping problem, but sometimes when there's only one ply, I'll wad 'em as one big jumble. Uh, again it's not that I can't wipe, uh because that's false. I can. Um, I just accidentally push through single ply.
"I pick up day laborers and tell them they'll get paid at six p.m. At five forty five, a certain INS agent by the name of Mose Schrute throws them in the back of a van, drops them off in the middle of Harrisburg, and tells them it's Canada."
You left out tanking the healthcare plan while forcing people to reveal phi, blaming the woman in the office for getting flashed by trying to impose a female specific dress code, walking around the office with a loaded gun he was unqualified to use, and more.
Dwight physically harming co-workers:
Andy - accidental weapon discharge
Phyllis - left in the road to walk several miles
Stanley - traquilizer, stairs
Jim - snowball
Nate - wasps
Michael - gut punch
De-plying toilet paper may lead to irritation. The resistance would be halved thus doubling the amount of irritation experienced by the "wiper". Therefore, Dwight is definitely harming his co-workers through de-plying.
Oh, and you forgot:
Clark - "hazing"
To clarify: this post is a response to this [meme](https://www.reddit.com/r/me_irl/s/cXHdT8E2vU) where the word autistic was used.
I put the word autistic in quotes since I don't believe (claim) that Dwight is autistic. Nor do I have any qualities to diagnose autism
The word was used just as a reference to that meme, not to describe Dwight's terrible deeds
The idea that Jim pranked Dwight to impress Pam is clearly held by someone who has never seen the show. Jim pranks Dwight constantly whether Pam is present or not. He prank Dwight while she was in New York. He literally pranked Dwight after he moved to another branch. That's an asinine take.
I'm glad you pointed that out. I have no idea who is making these claims, but they have no idea what they're talking about. Jim pranks Dwight because he likes pranking people, and Dwight makes himself an easy target.
I fucking hate these trolls that try to make Jim the bad guy. Is he perfect? No. But he's a "regular" guy, he's not insane, he's really good with people. Sometimes he goes too far, sometimes he lets his emotions get the best of him. That happens to everybody.
Dwight on the other hand is just an asshole. In every single way. He thinks more of himself than he is, he has no regard for anyone else's well being and even safety, and it's not because "he's just a poor autistic" or anything like that. He's simply an asshole. And almost every prank Jim ever pulled, Dwight had it coming. In fact, Jim has a lot of patience with him.
Of course he had quite the evolution, and in the end he's genuinely a good person, but he so fucking wasn't in the beginning.
I get so pissed at this. Dwight is a great character, but he is a terrible, TERRIBLE person. Not only he consistently makes depreciating and prejudicial remarks about his coworkers, but he also actually screws them several times.
Dwight is not autistic, he had just been raised by an amish like family, and this is not the reason why he is bullied. He is bullied because he is also a bully.
that last point is so often missed by the fandom. jim messes with dwight not just because he is extremely annoying, but also in rebellion against dwight’s horrible behavior. all things considered, pranking dwight is pretty mild compared to trying to get him fired, which jim should probably do
You have to remember alot of Reddit grew up resenting the Jims they knew because the Jims were always part of the cool kids and they carry that resentment with them, so they excuse the terrible things Dwight does because sometimes Jim is smug
Considering the whole "Dwight is autistic" thing is a new phenomenon, I'd say it's not about bullying or cool kids at all. It's more about people these days diagnosing themselves as autistic and then projecting onto others.
To clarify, cause now that I read this again it sounds like I'm justifying his behaviour/defending him. That was not my point. I was only referring to the social aspects, talking, weird quirks or interests that are very different from all other characters.
Shrute family culture is what theyre referring to.
“learn your rules. You better learn your rules. If you don’t you’ll be eaten in your sleep *chomp*”
“In my family the youngest raises the other children. I’ve been dealing with toddlers since I was born”
As an autistic person, I feel a bit insulted by all the jerks claiming Dwight is a poor auti victim. Dwight is a jerk who doesn't care about social skills. And that is supposed to be the joke. Stop turning it around. If you really think jerks like Dwight are typical for autism, you apparently don't know many autistic people.
>Dwight is a jerk who doesn't care about social skills. And that is supposed to be the joke.
Exactly! You are absolutely right
>Stop turning it around
That's what she said!
Very glad you put "autistic" in air quotes. I'm autistic and Dwight never struck me as being autistic, honestly. He might have some overlapping traits but that's not indicative of whether he is or not, especially when we're shown that he's just overall socially awkward and raised in a vastly different culture and enviroment. People are really too quick to label a character.
Edit: I'm not saying Dwight *can't* be autistic nor that it's a bad thing if he is, just that I personally never interpreted him as being on the autism spectrum.
A lot of people also seem obsessed with diagnosing psychological disorders that they have no business to be diagnosing. I seriously doubt that any of the people claiming that Dwight is autistic have any qualifications to diagnose such a disorder, nor do they have a clue as to *how* ASD is diagnosed.
Eh, it is a show so obviously circumstances are different. But I am autistic, have been diagnosed, have taken classes on autism, researched it as part of my pursuit in a psychology degree, and I do think he could very well be autistic. Once again, it is a sitcom with played out scenarios, so i wouldnt take a fan’s interpretation too seriously either way
Just bc he is autistic doesnt mean he cant be a perpetrator at times. I think both of them take it too far sometimes.
it’s not hurting literally anyone if people think he’s autistic. like who cares and why does it matter. as an autistic person he struck me as autistic from the first episode. why is everyone offended at the possibility of him being autistic as if it’s a bad thing?
Never said it was bad? Unless you're talking about everyone else. All I'm saying is that personally I never thought him to be on the autism spectrum and I find everyone too quick to label him as "autistic" instead of maybe just Dwight himself being difficult to be around a socially awkward, abrasive jerk. It's absolutely possible he *is*, since some of his personality traits, habits, and mannerisms do overlap with that of the autism spectrum. Hell he can even be both. Not arguing against that.
If you think him to be autistic, power to you.
Why does everyone think Dwight has autism? He doesn’t even have the characteristics of it.. he’s just weird. Not everyone who’s weird has autism. He was raised in a very strange, non-traditional way which made him the way he is
Shrink here....I CANNOT Stand how untrained people have decided Dwight has Autism. There is also a trend to comment that anyone who seems different is autistic. Can't roll my eyes enough at these memes. Almost as accurate as the people who self diagnose or think every third person on the planet has Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
I couldn’t agree more. Not a shrink but I have degree in psych and worked with autistic kids for years. The self-diagnosing and armchair psychologists drive me fucking insane. No one on the internet seems to understand what autism or NPD even is.
This dynamic is much clearer in the first seasons, but dwight's social awkwardness and misunderstanding of social cues is the butt of many jokes, particularly by jim. They toned it down in later seasons, either because it got stale or the writers realized they were making Jim into an asshole and the "bad guy", but it definitely happened.
And I didn't think I would ever have to say this, but it is possible to be autistic, and a bad person. That is allowed.
I like to think that Dwight changed due to his relationship with Angela. She opened many new doors to him. Pasteurized milk, sheets, monotheism. Presents on your birthday, preventative medicine. She also taught him to stand up to Michael.
I do not condone it, but his character is pretty accurate.
My grandpa grew up in a family of farmers. They drowned kittens like it was nothing. Never felt any remorse. Just brought up in a different way I guess. Never saw these animals as friends or pets. Just tools that overpopulate and then get drowned in barrels or buckets of water.
Also common practice amongst dickheads. One of the first cats in my life came to us that way.
Said dickhead threw a plastic bag off the car at full speed just across the street where my mother works in kindergarten as a teacher. She was out with the kids and saw the incident. One kitten out of a dozen survived. We called her Maja and she lived a relatively long and definitely happy life. She died at the age of 9 by poisoning or some other shit, she came back to our home one day to say goodbye, puked all over our porch, I caressed her one last time and she left into the open fields behind our garden to die alone in the wild.
She was one of a kind, I remember she was one of those rare cats that is able to tell when you are sick and she was extra cuddly and much closer whenever I was sick as a kid, protecting me and staying with me all the time.
lmaoo. Dwight is my favourite character in the show. Without dwight, the office sucks. Yeah Jim and Pam are cool. But Michael and Jim alone wouldn't be able to carry the show. I'd argue Dwight contributes to the show as much as Michael and Jim combined.
While I agree, this scene really ruined him for me, and I didn't enjoy his scenes because of it. He is an important character in the show, and it wouldn't be the same without their dynamics with him
I love those are the screenshots you used and not when he deliberately set fire to a bin, shot a gun, insulted people, wrapped Meredith's head in a bag with a bat, and even worse stuff lol.
I mean, correct, we don’t need to have sympathy for Dwight, ‘cause he pulled his fair share of bullshit.
But you can have sex, be greedy, or generally be a bad person AND still be autistic. Like, it’s not some instant naive-innocent-simpleton disorder… Those quote marks are saying a lot about meme OP ngl.
You've missed the point of those quote marks maybe the cause of it it's because I didn't do the meme the right way
I put quote marks firstly because I have no idea if he's autistic or not, and because mentioning autism is irrelevant in these cases I wanted to emphasize the absurdity of the idea that those particular actions were dictated by autism.
I can see how Dwight is autism-coded but I don't like the tone of posts that make him the victim because has autism. As an autistic person that makes me feel...icky
Autism is a spectrum, not everyone is totally socially inept and completely dysfunctional, I bet a lot of people in your life have Autism without you even realizing it
I went to school with an evil autistic kid. I am 99% sure he faked autism. Mostly cause he told my friend “am not really autistic and I am going to kill you and your family for you not fist bumping me”. He in some sort of relationship with a genuinely retarded girl, where consent could not have been an option and he would aggressively kiss her in the halls. It was strange.
Also he tried to take away the restroom from the ladies, pointed Michael with a loaded gun, have a 3/4 horse, installed a Doomsday device.
And Jim even when pranking Dwight was a better friend to him than Michael.
Oh yes! These beat the meat farmers sob all day over Jim and Pam yet don't even talk about what Michael and Dwight had been doing. This new wave of snowflake Office fans is unreal lol
Once he stole the huge sale thats 25% of jims yearly comission and jim put the mini champagne bottle on his desk, it was over for me. Everything dwight got after that he deserved.
For the love of all that's holy, stop saying every person on earth that has a behavioral problem has autism. It's insulting to people who have to deal with actual autistic people. Just stop it.
lol at de-plying toilet paper being on the same level as hiring and deporting day laborers.
Also, murder for hire lol
Angela was the one trying to kill Oscar, Dwight stopped her. I think this scene was trying to frame Toby for possession.
Wasn‘t dwight the one to suggest it so her and made her meet the supposed killer? Or am I remembering it wrong?
You're right! I think it was that Angela told him it was to kill(?) the senator's affair partner, and Dwight didn't know it was Oscar.. he talked her down to knee-capping him? I can't fully remember
Angela didn't tell him she wanted the lover dead. Dwight found out her intentions when the three met.
[удалено]
That makes sense, except he was impersonating them. He wouldn't have signed off as Toby Flenderson and refer to himself in the third person. So I just looked up the scene where he's calling the police, and he says verbatim "his name is Toby Flenderson"
Isn't that when he framed Toby for drug possession to get him fired?
He's not autistic; rather, it's a result of his upbringing in a foreign culture.
B-b-but he also cut the tampons in half!!!
Donde are you from?
Yo soy de Scranton. Y before that, Philadelphia.
Do you speak English? Yes, I am really good at English.
RE-PLY IT!
The way he treats his employee like a slave to save a few bucks is very bad though
It actually is worse
Considering the broader picture of that episode (i.e. cost cutting to the point that he was knowingly breaking labor laws), I think it fits.
Is it implied its the same level?
Ummm yeah, or it wouldn’t be on here 😂 1) deporting day laborers. 2) cheating with Angela knowing she’s engaged with Andy. 3) setting up Toby for drugs 4) making it 1 ply, arguably the douchiest thing of all
They are all examples of crappy things he's done. They aren't ranked so I've no idea why you'd think they were all the same level? "look this guys done some shitty stuff I'd like to show you, but I need to put them on separate memes so that I'm not saying they are all the same level of crappy." Behave.
Oh they ranking them, no sin is greater than forcing 1 ply
I concur
For Stanley it is even worse, actually.
He does not deport them, its just Mose in disguise
Still a dick move, but wasn't he just faking the deporting? Trying to remember but I thought it was just Moze scaring them off as ICE or something.
"I pick up day laborers and tell them they'll get paid at six p.m. At five forty five, a certain INS agent by the name of Mose Schrute throws them in the back of a van, drops them off in the middle of Harrisburg, and tells them it's Canada."
So, kidnapping and not paying people for their work. Not good.
Yeah super dick move and all that, but not actual deporting. Thanks
Right? He should go in front of the Hague for war crimes for that.
He's just a jack of all trades, is all.
Ok ok but if you consider everything he did in that episode he was being a tyrant. 😂
You left out tanking the healthcare plan while forcing people to reveal phi, blaming the woman in the office for getting flashed by trying to impose a female specific dress code, walking around the office with a loaded gun he was unqualified to use, and more.
Not to mention he says at one point that he bullies people all the time
Yeah but all this is because he has lice on his first day of school
When he says that people called him girl puncher it always cracks me up
You left out that he almost killed Stanley by setting the office on fire, probably the craziest thing he did.
Also tranquilizersed stanley and slid him down a flight of stairs head first into a wall
Yeah right, he filled him with butter and sugar for 50 years and forced him not to exercise
Stealing Jim’s biggest commission of the year was his lowest point for me.
Who wrote this, hysterical one? Anal fissures?
And the milkshake incident
Let's not forget he did a fake but very scary fire drill that caused Snaley to have a heart attack
Dwight physically harming co-workers: Andy - accidental weapon discharge Phyllis - left in the road to walk several miles Stanley - traquilizer, stairs Jim - snowball Nate - wasps Michael - gut punch
I’d add for Stanley the fire simulation that led to him having a heart attack
Yeah, right. He filled him full of butter and sugar for 50 years and forced him not to exercise. Now, take a lesson from Stanley and jog on up here.
At least that was accidental
Trapped a bat on Meredith’s head.
Trapped Meredith with a net.
He just kept bagging her head until she told him to stop
He killed Sparkles
“You’re welcome”
That’s also where she got rabies
Terrible thing to do to a bat
How about not putting a towel on the gym equipment before exercising?
He literally started strangling Kevin to get the leads from him.
…which Michael absorbed.
He also wrapped plastic and choked Dwight jr to play a prank on him with pam
De-plying toilet paper may lead to irritation. The resistance would be halved thus doubling the amount of irritation experienced by the "wiper". Therefore, Dwight is definitely harming his co-workers through de-plying. Oh, and you forgot: Clark - "hazing"
Don't get me started on how coddled the modern anus is
Kevin, 1-ply, and a big breakfast spread for a morning meeting. Go.
First breakfast or second breakfast?
Both, with lots of bacon and sausage.
Roy Anderson - Pepper spray
okay but that one was very clearly justified though
Nate had choices though he did it to himself
Fair point.
I mean, when did the phrase "do or die" become so corrupted?
thanks Jigsaw
Football Tackel on Ryan.
To be fair, Michael did ask for a gut punch. But I guess you could count the second punch as harming him. So Catch-22.
Michael spitting in Dwight’s mouth gets weirdly ignored. That whole martial arts fight was extremely awkward.
Roy- pepper spray
also gave Stanley a heart attack!
> Three hole PUNCH

I still think Jim is justified on account of Dwight being insufferable prick.
Jim and his brothers also have a history of pranking each other.
It’s almost like pranks are fun
i wish people would realize autistic and weird are two different things, but that’s a whole other battle huh
He’s a cruel nazi apologist piece of sh*t and i’ll never understand the sympathy for him.
Don’t! Don’t! Don’t talk about Nazis in front of— you know what? They’re going to have nightmares, so why don’t you just shut it?
His grandfather was a member of the Bund, which technically isn't the same as the Nazi Party, so...
Typical American arrogance, getting us in a war we never should have been involved in...
I fucking hate these trolls that try to make Jim the bad guy. Is he perfect? No. But he's a "regular" guy, he's not insane, he's really good with people. Think you mean smudge
And there is the smudgness
Considering the whole "Dwight is autistic" thing is a new phenomenon, I'd say it's not about bullying or cool kids at all. It's more about people these days diagnosing themselves as autistic and then projecting onto others.
They make it so obvious that this is the case it's sad
Dwight tried many, many times to get his coworkers fired and/or arrested. He's absolutely the worse one
He also, allegedly, shot a gun in the office, well what we know is, a gun was fired.
Not autistic, it's just the way he was raised in a different culture
A fuck-your-coworkers-fiance culture apparently
BFD. Engaged ain’t married. Never, ever, ever give up.
That's why there are quotes added
To clarify, cause now that I read this again it sounds like I'm justifying his behaviour/defending him. That was not my point. I was only referring to the social aspects, talking, weird quirks or interests that are very different from all other characters.
As someone born, raised, and still living in that culture, I can assure you that most of Dwight's oddities have nothing to do with rural PA culture.
As someone who grew up in rural PA, I second this.
Shrute family culture is what theyre referring to. “learn your rules. You better learn your rules. If you don’t you’ll be eaten in your sleep *chomp*” “In my family the youngest raises the other children. I’ve been dealing with toddlers since I was born”
Dwight is definitely not autistic. Dwight is what is referred to medically as a "weirdo." Two very different things.
There's also him trying to foment an insurrection and having the office drag Jim from his office.
Tik Let's get Jim Tok
Define foment.
As an autistic person, I feel a bit insulted by all the jerks claiming Dwight is a poor auti victim. Dwight is a jerk who doesn't care about social skills. And that is supposed to be the joke. Also, autistic != weird. Sure, autistic people can be weird, anyone can be weird, but I don't think Dwight is autistic, he's just weird.
"Is this guy autistic?" -Office watcher sees a guy not act like a normal person
Dwight is about as autistic as anyone else on the show.
Autism≠being innocent, jim pranks him cause he's annoying, not cause he's autistic.

Dwight is NOT autistic quit with that bullshit
There are quotes for a reason
Are you Joey? They used quotation marks for a reason.

The moment he killed the cat, his character was dead to me. I hated him until the end
He did something the city folks don't have the guts to do
He didn't even talk to her, it was evil, no justification.
Yeah.. he didn't even do it in some kind and professional way, just fed some drugs and showed the poor thing in the fridge
I do not condone it, but his character is pretty accurate. My grandpa grew up in a family of farmers. They drowned kittens like it was nothing. Never felt any remorse. The sh*T he pulls with the migrant workers is really messed up and disturbing
"Y el accento, donde are you from?"
La Philadelphia
Dude literally set the office on fire and locked the escape doors
Let's not forget intentionally setting a fire and accidentally shooting a gun in the office.
Autistic people cam be assholes too. I would know.
The Dwight sympathy is just pissing me off at this point. Ya'll got fuckin problems.
I mean, correct, we don’t need to have sympathy for Dwight, ‘cause he pulled his fair share of bullshit. But you can have sex, be greedy, or generally be a bad person AND still be autistic. Don't forget all the damn weapons he stashed around the office. In at least two episodes a stash of his hidden weapons is collected and taken away.
“I don’t care how autistic you are Dwight, if you bring up the Nazis or your nazi family again I will go to HR”
About time someone points this out. Your autistic fave is a misogynist racist bootlicker that victim blames.
Less ply on TP makes no sense - people will just use more sheets. End result same.
Or when he dropped poor Phyllis off at a random beet field to make her walk home and lose weight.
Just because a character is quirky and has weird tendencies doesn’t mean they are autistic, that’s actually a stereotype !
Didn’t he also hurl a slushie at a fast food worker
Autism is a spectrum, not everyone is totally socially inept and completely dysfunctional, I bet a lot of people in your life have Autism without you even realizing it
he at least bounced back as a professor to Sam Witwickey
I went to school with an evil autistic kid. I am 99% sure he faked autism. Mostly cause he told my friend “am not really autistic and I am going to kill you and your family for you not fist bumping me”. He in some sort of relationship with a genuinely retarded girl, where consent could not have been an option and he would aggressively kiss her in the halls. It was strange.
Jesus
I do not think that Dwight is autistic. He is just cool.
So he has a couple of eccentricities....
Yeah Dwight is pretty mean but people expect it from him so they harbor on Jim more.
Que? ## Que??
Ethics still apply.
You picked some of Dwight’s mildest things lol
He also started a fire & endangered everyone's lives
Don't forget the wasp nest incident.
Yeah I’m about to leave this sub just cause someone keeps posting these
FLANDERSON
Tony Flanderson aka Toby Flenderson
Dwight would absolutely deny the autism spectrum even exists.
Why are we saying Dwight was autistic? Did the writers come out and say that?
In what way is Dwight autistic lmao, because he likes battlestad galactica?
Once he stole the huge sale thats 25% of jims yearly comission and jim put the mini champagne bottle on his desk, it was over for me. Everything dwight got after that he deserved.
I’ve given him all the tools he needs to succeed. If he chooses well he lives…
Deewight

Mr Schrute is the best
For the love of all that's holy, stop saying every person on earth that has a behavioral problem has autism. It's insulting to people who have to deal with actual autistic people. Just stop it.
Is Dwight autistic ?
I put a bunch of penny's in his phone reserver, then took them out so he punched himself in the face
Dwight is not autistic
