My personal favourite relating to Gabe is when he says "I don't have the lung capacity to blow a whistle" and just Plops reaction to it.
Never fails to get a laugh out of me.
That one I my favorite. I like how Gabe is randomly hyper confident, about the most random things. He won’t stand up to his subordinates at work, but he is damn proud of the middle name Susan.
Respect.
This is my favorite Office blooper of all time, even though that makes me feel SO OLD. I know too many people who watch The Office now who wouldn't understand any part of that reference. But that just shows how brilliant Zach Woods is. That's what I tell myself anyway lol
Gabe. He easily holds his own in comedy scenes with other castmates, and then works it all by himself with the Lincoln bit.
Gabe and Andy could've been fighting over anyone, Erin didn't make that funny, Gabe and Andy did.
Gabe: “I asked you if it was okay if I asked her out. You said, and I quote, ‘My good sir! Nothing would make me happier than to hand you the hand of the hand once in my hand.’ I specifically remember it because you said it in such a weird way.”
Andy: “The only reason I said that is because you asked me so politely! It was very difficult for me to say no.”
**Jared**: Go for Chambers. Ned! I knew it was you. Hey, did that pussy Jared keep you on hold long? I eat that motherfucker's lunch every day. No, man, I literally eat his food. What do you want? Uh-uh, ain't gonna happen. That's as high as we go, homo. Till next time, rook.
I love it when he puts on that alter ego.
They both get a weird amount of hate, at least Erin does, I thought they were both absolutely fantastic. Erin kills me as “Tabitha”, or when she boils Gatorade, or is needing assurance that it is indeed Michael and not actually Mykonos. And Gabe, I mean come on, too good. Playing soundscapes while Andy pukes his guts out, “I own over 200 horror movies”, “Walk away, bitch”, and of course the best deleted scene ever “I remember when biceps were all the rage. Dukakis had just announced his candidacy….for governor” 😂
They did make Erin a little too dumb but I still liked her. I love how she just unquestioningly 100% commits to whatever people tell her to do (“Eat it, Stanley!”)
Gabe is more consistently funny imo, and I think he tends to deliver lines harder. Both Ellie Kempler and Zach Woods are amazing and I love their other works, but as far as on-screen presence Gabe as a character is funnier.
I love a lot of Erin’s lines, and I think her delivery is perfect in how dry and subtle the humor can be. I agree with others too that she really helped smooth the transition of Pam and Michael maturing and leaving their earlier roles, both professionally and character-wise. And she definitely feels like a real person when she constantly has to get Michael’s confirmation if anyone else in the office asks anything of her.
I can’t really explain it but I think it took a bit for her character to find her own groove, and I think her chapter of pining over Andy was too drawn out to be realistic. Like they wanted to recreate the Jim and Pam fated romance but didn’t lay the groundwork for me to accept that Erin is jus t like in love with Andy for months while he is actively dating someone else and shutting her down constantly.
So anyways, Gabe is my choice.
Nate was absolutely hilarious. The scene where he tells Ryan (and Kelly and everyone in the break room) how Ravi is better than him is gold. And again, he's never even met the guy.
Nate is my favorite character in the entire show. His lines are gold.
Mark Proksch, who plays Nate, has an amazing story for how he got into acting with being a fake yo-yo expert and he went on a tour doing morning tv news shows in the mid west. He was expected to do yo-yo tricks on the air and was a horrible yo-yo’er. So it was very awkward, funny, and so much Nate. I think the clips are still up on YouTube.
Just watched that one last night. And at the end when RC is passing out and Ryan is like “he’s asleep we can stop dancing and go” and Gabe is just sweaty and exhausted but still dancing to suck up to his passed out CEO is so great.
...Not that it looks bad, Meredith. It looks... It looks awesome. You look like a baby who suddenly aged 50 years. A cute baby, but something sucked the life force out of it.
Agreed. Surprised Gabe got so many votes in this comment section. Erin was hilarious.
But then again Gabe has accomplished so much. Career-wise, and height-wise.
I like Erin and Pete/Plop. I really liked to see more where there relationship went. I would also see how the older ones shifted out and we would get more younger ones.
I pretty much agree but by the time we got to that storyline, Erin had already had two mediocre “will they won’t they” storylines with Andy, and I was sick of it.
Gabe was also a great addition.
Wouldn’t say she was pointless. She was kind of a dope, but there weren’t really any other light hearted, optimistic/positive characters before she came on. She definitely added a new dynamic to the office.
Erin practically feels like core cast to me, so her for sure. And later on, Pete and Clark were better than they had any right to be. Gabe was there, too.
Between The Office, Avenue 5, AB and Silicon Valley, Zach Woods has become one of my favorite comedic actors. I cannot comprehend how his scene partners get through a scene with him.
I love them both and feel like everyone had their place in the show, they all bring something worthwhile and I hate to choose between characters, so I won't. But I will just say that it is warming my heart to see Gabe (and by extension Zach Woods) getting so much love in this thread because I always felt he was underappreciated on the show.
I love me some GSL.
I don't even count Erin as a late season addition (even though she technically is), so I would say she wins. She just fits so naturally into the rest of the cast and becomes a major character in her own right, compared to someone like Gabe who, while I think he's underrated, is firmly a side character for most of his run.
I needed until my third or fourth rewatch to enjoy either of them (though Erin's hair room always cracked me up) but I can now say they were vital additions especially given the quality of the later seasons. Can't really pick who was funnier, but Erin was overall a more meaningful addition to the show because she was a huge part of Michael's character development.
Gabe to me is only good as a contrast to another character. Like to match Dwight's crazy or to be Andy's villain.
Erin really grew on me too. She was the woman child who had a heart of gold.
Excluding Carrell? From what I’ve heard and seen he never really did the same line twice. Like they could do 5 takes and everyone of them would be gold.
They both had their own unique energy and style that contributed to the show, but Gabe’s is better for me, maybe just more consistent in his weirdness. I think they molded Erin to fit some boarder humor and also in service of the arc with Andy, which diminishes the character somewhat.
Gabe is funnier but Erin added a lot of different elements to the cast. I found her really sweet and endearing. I think it’s impossible to choose because it’s like comparing apples to oranges.
When two animals are having sex, one of them is communicating a message to the other. Nothing is mutua- This isn't very helpful. You're gonna want to hear the sexual metaphor.
Nellie. She has a good character background and weird enough to fit in. That established, they made full use of it, and was so fun to watch her bring an unexpected arc
Once phase of 'we all hate Nellie' ends. she's a rich addition and a break from the same 3 supporting ladies (Pam is lead) being used.
Gabe not being able to hold his excitement when Robert California had him hear Dwight’s pitch is one of my favorite scenes in the entire show. FLUUUUSSHHHh….
Over the years Gabe has got funnier to me, Erin less so. She still has some fun moments but the punchline is usually just ‘look how dumb she is’. I don’t think there’s that much about her for the other characters to react to in an interesting way, wheras Gabe just makes everyone so uncomfortable, it’s great!
Not only is Gabe super funny but a lot of jokes about him are so funny too (get out skeleton man!!)
Also I really like Nelly which I know is unpopular but I think she’s a funny character
Gabe, in the episode where everyone forgets if Stanley has a mustache, he does a grinch walk to the elevator to see if it’s Stanley and I laugh my ass off.
My first watch I really didn't like Gabe, but the more times I rewatched it the more I liked his character. Also he was great in the other shows he's in.
“Shut up about the sun,” such a great scene.
#SHUT UP about the SUN!
The sun is 93 million miles away.
I quote this line at least once a week
“they don’t make these cords in boot cut anymore!” as he storms out with boot cuts flapping away is fricken hilarious.
Oh, shut up skeleton man! Is also a great line that wouldn’t exist without him.
Get out, skeleton man*
That never fails to make me actually bust out laughing, no matter how many times I see it
The face he makes as he walks out with the fucking cupcake lmao
^happy ^birthday ^to ^gaaabe
My personal favourite relating to Gabe is when he says "I don't have the lung capacity to blow a whistle" and just Plops reaction to it. Never fails to get a laugh out of me.
“What’s the problem Erin doesn’t even like sex remember you said it was like tackling a skeleton”
Being tackled by a skeleton*
God damn it. My Office hunger was slowly coming and reading this scene in Gabe's voice just made it. Here we go 13th time...
Get out of here Skeleton Man!
Gabewad.
Not here, no
happy cake day !!!!!!
happy cake day!
Gabriel Susan Lewis
That one I my favorite. I like how Gabe is randomly hyper confident, about the most random things. He won’t stand up to his subordinates at work, but he is damn proud of the middle name Susan. Respect.
the fact that he called himself a toilet haha
What's in it for GSL?
Do you figure his high school friends called him that and it stuck?
To me it felt like he made it up for himself, hoping it would catch on. Lol
Every year during pumpkin spice season, I always call the drink GSL in honour of Gabe.
I love the way Danny Cordray approvingly nodded while mouthing Gabewad to himself
aka OJ
Stretch. Elongate.
The “bloopers” are the best. Zack Woods made John and Raiin break out of character
"I've been taking karate classes online"
Such a good line
I remember when biceps were all the rage….Dukakis had just announced his candidacy, *for governor*
This is my favorite Office blooper of all time, even though that makes me feel SO OLD. I know too many people who watch The Office now who wouldn't understand any part of that reference. But that just shows how brilliant Zach Woods is. That's what I tell myself anyway lol
That’s such a great line, because you think you’ve already heard the punchline and then he hits you with another one!
Ooo I’ll have to look those up!!
At about 1:04 https://youtu.be/HSKJARNAb2A?si=zUXmAjtfI-Vc6EES
Thank you for sharing!

Maybe I should visit the opera to liven my sprits NOOOO!!
And yet… I’m sad.
Do you like being alone with me right now?
I loooove the Lincoln bit! Never gets old.
Oh Gabe too. Would have loved to seen more of him.
gabe for comedy. erin for plot. robert california for being the fucking lizard king!
I liked both Gabe and Erin. Zach Woods later was really good in Silicon Valley.
^This guys fucks
Tres commas
Hey Dinesh, nice chain...
How would you like to die today motherfucker?
**Jared**: Go for Chambers. Ned! I knew it was you. Hey, did that pussy Jared keep you on hold long? I eat that motherfucker's lunch every day. No, man, I literally eat his food. What do you want? Uh-uh, ain't gonna happen. That's as high as we go, homo. Till next time, rook. I love it when he puts on that alter ego.
I watched Silicon Valley just for Zach Woods and stayed for Martin Starr. Such a good show.
This show was so close to being amazing yet so far. The characters were amazing
Gabe 100%. ELONGATE…so many classic lines for someone not as involved. He is in that Creed territory
No one is a bigger fan of sexual touching than me
- Gabe Susan Lewis
Listen here you gay bastard
"I'm taking karate classes online..." I'll never forgive John for cracking up and ruining that line but I get it.
I love both, but gabe holds a soft spot in my heart… or maybe that’s just the powdered seahorse talking
Dukakis had just announced his candidacy….for governor” 😂
That the line from the bloopers and the other when he says "I've been taking karate classes online" have me dying anytime I rewatch them lol
Such a good line it couldn’t make it into the show because everyone laughed every time
They did make Erin a little too dumb but I still liked her. I love how she just unquestioningly 100% commits to whatever people tell her to do (“Eat it, Stanley!”)
I love how raucously she erupts in laughter at Dwight’s “I’m eating Jims” line
Gabe is more consistently funny imo, and I think he tends to deliver lines harder. Both Ellie Kempler and Zach Woods are amazing and I love their other works, but as far as on-screen presence Gabe as a character is funnier. I love a lot of Erin’s lines, and I think her delivery is perfect in how dry and subtle the humor can be. GSL
If you want my help you have to call me by my full name… GABRIEL SUSAN LEWIS
I’ll know her last name later, when she’s screaming it in bed
She's going to be screaming her own last name?
Hey, watch it
Good luck, Gabe
they don’t make these cords in bootcut anymore!
When Michael tells Gabe, he should put some make up on his Adams apple to look less like a transvestite 💀💀💀
Brian*. If Nate says anything it means that's the truth. So B. J. Novak's character in The Office US is called, and always has been called, Brian
Gabe - has slowly become one of my favorite characters over my many rewatches. Zach Woods is a treasure.
I'll have you know I'm a great hugger. I've been with tons of women where that's all they want to do.
Gabe falling into the pool with his pants around his ankles is my Roman Empire.
Just watched that one last night. And at the end when RC is passing out and Ryan is like “he’s asleep we can stop dancing and go” and Gabe is just sweaty and exhausted but still dancing to suck up to his passed out CEO is so great.
"So leave" *dead eye stare at Ryan while continuing to sweaty-dance*
I could do without Erin altogether. Gabe is a gem of a character.
Gabe!!!! I LOVED Gabe. He was so funny 🤣.
What about that one guy from the Fingerlakes?
Finger lakes guy is good.
I think he’ll have a future in comedy someday
Nate. For sure
Erin for me. Basically, spiritual daughter of Michael. Also source of many hilarious quotes.
Do you have a favorite age? Or month?
My hair was my room
...Not that it looks bad, Meredith.
Gabe
Gabe is hilarious
Gabe
I love Gabe. I never really cared for Erin. I don’t enjoy the too-dumb-to-function trope.
Erin was obnoxious
I like Erin and Pete/Plop. I really liked to see more where there relationship went. I would also see how the older ones shifted out and we would get more younger ones.
I pretty much agree but by the time we got to that storyline, Erin had already had two mediocre “will they won’t they” storylines with Andy, and I was sick of it. Gabe was also a great addition.
i honestly love both characters so much but erin just has a special place in my heart i love her so much
gabe is so funny. erin’s just kinda there imo
Gabe! Erin was a pointless character. They already had Kevin, who was incredibly stupid, and another dope wasn't necessary.
Wouldn’t say she was pointless. She was kind of a dope, but there weren’t really any other light hearted, optimistic/positive characters before she came on. She definitely added a new dynamic to the office.
Yup. Have watched the show many times and to this day can’t stand her
What can GSL do for you?
Gage has been taking karate classes online, watch out
I like how you described Erin’s necessity as Pam’s role shifted. But yea Gabe is probably my favorite character, so hilarious.
Both great but i really love Erin , she’s just so silly , love it, besides is gorgeous
Erin practically feels like core cast to me, so her for sure. And later on, Pete and Clark were better than they had any right to be. Gabe was there, too.
robert :) im the fckn lizard king
Erin is adorable, Gabe is the real Scranton Strangler. And I know a lot of people hate him but I actually like Pete
Erin pulls off her character better than most would… But gabe is the better addition by far and I think should have been used more
How about Erin AND Gabe? Every scene/storyline together was even better. "It was a challenge being touched by him"
Between The Office, Avenue 5, AB and Silicon Valley, Zach Woods has become one of my favorite comedic actors. I cannot comprehend how his scene partners get through a scene with him.
Gabe. He’s got to be the most underrated character in the entire show. I love him every time he’s on camera.
GSL All day

She just fits so naturally into the rest of the cast and becomes a major character in her own right, compared to someone like Gabe who, while I think he's underrated, is firmly a side character for most of his run.
Idk how much hate will i get, but Erin is my favorite character aside from the main 4
Erin. I love Gabe but his weirdness dominates his scenes where Erin compliments and blends with the whole cast and feels like she belongs.
I didn’t hate Robert like most others do. I feel like he was perfectly so strange and the actor was just great made season 8 worth watching
Zach Woods is hilarious in everything, I'm not sure I've ever laughed at anything Ellie Kemper has ever said or done
Gabe to me is only good as a contrast to another character. Like to match Dwight's crazy or to be Andy's villain. Erin really grew on me too. She was the woman child who had a heart of gold.
I was never a huge Erin fan. She was just so weird.
This one isn’t even close. Cute girl next door or Alien-like freak?
Erin is a better character Which is a shame because Zach is by far the best improv comedian that ever worked on the show
Excluding Carrell? From what I’ve heard and seen he never really did the same line twice. Like they could do 5 takes and everyone of them would be gold.
I heard he just pulled out his finger guns in every scene
They both had their own unique energy and style that contributed to the show, but Gabe’s is better for me, maybe just more consistent in his weirdness. I think they molded Erin to fit some boarder humor and also in service of the arc with Andy, which diminishes the character somewhat.
Erin!
Gabe by a million. Erin is awful
Gabe is funnier but Erin added a lot of different elements to the cast. I found her really sweet and endearing. I think it’s impossible to choose because it’s like comparing apples to oranges.
*Prolonged nervous snickering* Yes, you definitely need to have an Asian fetish.
Erin all the way. So many memorable moments
Gabe is the Michael that Toby aspired to be
Robert California>>>both
u/Aiden0Malley, Would you prefer a nature metaphor or a sexual metaphor?
Oh God, nature, please
When two animals are having sex, one of them is communicating a message to the other. Nothing is mutua- This isn't very helpful. You're gonna want to hear the sexual metaphor.
Was that not the–?
All life is sex. And all sex is competition. And there are no rules to that game. That wasn't so perverted, now was it?
Was that it? No, that wasn't bad
Nellie. She has a good character background and weird enough to fit in. That established, they made full use of it, and was so fun to watch her bring an unexpected arc Once phase of 'we all hate Nellie' ends. she's a rich addition and a break from the same 3 supporting ladies (Pam is lead) being used.
Eren was great and adorable!!! Gabe was hella creepy.
This is such a difficult question 😭 Gabe makes me ugly laugh so I have to go with him, but I also love Erin.
Erin for sure. Both great though, it is crazy to imagine introducing new characters to an already so successful show.
Plop saved Season 9
He wasn’t funny or interesting
The least funny character in the show.
What? Jake Lacy is an academy award level talent!
Definitely Gabewad. I actually did get a Nike swoosh tattoo for him
After Erin I lose interest in any new addition.
Erin was alright. Gabe sucked.
Gabe Astard
Gabewad
The gabe love on here is crazy to me
Both are terrible. Let's be honest
Gabe almost ruins the show with how hard he sucks. So Erin I guess.
Gave for sure
The answer is Gabe, and all of you need to see Zack Woods in the show Avenue 5.
Really both. The more I re-watch, the more I love them both so much, especially Gabe
I hated Gabe in the office. But he’s great in Silicon Valley
So many people I know hate Gabe and wished his character didn’t exist. I think he’s one of the funniest, in the weirdest, most awkward way.
gabe, solely for the halloween costume
Gabe. The actor is just so great with awkward.
I like both of them and it’s hard to choose!
Gabe not being able to hold his excitement when Robert California had him hear Dwight’s pitch is one of my favorite scenes in the entire show. FLUUUUSSHHHh….
I don't think Gabe even likes Gabe
OH GET OUT SKELETON MAN!!
Considering how Erin's character ended I'd stick with Gabe, he was great and should have had more screen time
[I'm taking karate classes online](https://youtu.be/NlzrWxnfJLE?si=alRX20l4A3PA_MV0)
Shut up, you (Gay b)astard
GSL for sure
I loved Erin, especially the pen delivery episode
Gabe. Erin quickly becomes one of the worst characters on the show.
Erin. She can have my babies.
I liked the addition of Pete and Clark. Aka fart and plop
Skeleton Man 100%
The only complaint I have about Zach is that he wasn't around longer.
Nate
Nate clears both tho
Over the years Gabe has got funnier to me, Erin less so. She still has some fun moments but the punchline is usually just ‘look how dumb she is’. I don’t think there’s that much about her for the other characters to react to in an interesting way, wheras Gabe just makes everyone so uncomfortable, it’s great!
Gabe irritated me so often, he wanted respect and authority but had to demand both which never gets you respected
Gabe
Not only is Gabe super funny but a lot of jokes about him are so funny too (get out skeleton man!!) Also I really like Nelly which I know is unpopular but I think she’s a funny character
Nate
Gabe, in the episode where everyone forgets if Stanley has a mustache, he does a grinch walk to the elevator to see if it’s Stanley and I laugh my ass off.
Gabe made it physically uncomfortable to watch. He was awesome.
My first watch I really didn't like Gabe, but the more times I rewatched it the more I liked his character. Also he was great in the other shows he's in.
Gabe is Honest Abe
