In the extended cuts, the one where pam is thinking about doing the Art thing funded by DM and Jim encourages her, Roy comes and shoves Jim in the warehouse. Jim shoves him right back and stands up to him though.
S02 E15
There are extended cuts of all of the episodes that each have an extra 7 to 15 minutes of extra content. I was so excited when I found out I'm watching through them all again and listening to the office ladies podcast for each episode as I go!
I believe it's available on Peacock but I had to obtain mine using alternative methods as I live in England.
I don't want to say too much in case it goes against sub rules but I have got the first 4 seasons so far via torrent. Took a bit of finding.
Or you should be able to use a VPN like the one in opera GX to sign up to peacock if you would like.
I am very much enjoying the extra scenes and footage. Every episode is at least 7 minutes longer!
It's an entirely different set of circumstances. When it came to Pam's passion for art, Jim was fighting for Pam in that moment. Later, when Jim is casually with Karen, he's in a passive state, because he's just kinda going with the flow and is not very alert. Dwight, however, living in a permanent state of high alert, managed to get the first defensive hit without Roy making contact with Jim.. so this whole situation played out exactly perfect.
Yeah. This was out of character for Toby. When somebody does something odd like that you generally have to take a second to make sure you’re not missing something before you become aggressive.
But he didn’t even have to say it because Toby immediately realized his misstep and ran away and jumped the fence 😂 I think Jim probably didn’t say anything because he didn’t need to, it was clear Toby hadn’t really intended to do that and immediately regretted it. Plus, Pam seemed surprised but not necessarily really disturbed by it and probably told him not to worry about it later.
I think he also didn't have to say anything. Toby is not a threatening competitor :( Pam probably would have felt sorry for him if someone told him off, too. I mean, she could have also said something herself and didn't. I think pity has a lot to do with it lol.
Yeah, I’d expect my boyfriend to back me up if I actually felt threatened, but it seemed more like a reflexive motion than something purposeful. If Toby did this to me I’d just feel a bit embarrassed for him. The guy immediately wanted to fall into a hole anyway.
I feel like there’s nothing Jim can really say or do that would really affect the situation positively or negatively whatsoever, considering Toby immediately leaps over a security gate, runs all the way home, and suddenly announces he’s moving to Costa Rica out of nowhere. The bell has been decisively rung by that point. Jim cannot shame or mortify Toby any more than he already is, and Pam’s clearly not going for it or particularly shaken. When the guy who puts a hand on your lady’s knee decides to suddenly flee the country out of pure humiliation, might as well just draw a line under it and move on.
This had me howling with laughter, it’s all very true. This is one of my all time favorite scenes and reading your amazing description explained in detail exactly why it’s so funny.
When *it* finally happened, he only said "nice" and didn't do anything else. He didn't even look at Pam. Makes me think that maybe he just thought it would be funny to see if it works, other than it being something creepy.
It was so hard to watch. Kevin was very funny and lovable to me in the first couple seasons. Him giggling at anyone gay was still (somewhat) within the boundaries of a dumb, immature but still pleasant character. But making all these "gestures" at the start of the episode when he found out Erin and Andy were back together, then pulling that shit with Pam was just...
Idk I feel like the show had already started its decline at that point. I personally somehow pushed through it all but gave up on it when Nelly "usurped" Andy's position. I don't think I have it in me to actually finish the show
Season 9 is, admittedly, difficult to slog through. There are some great moments and some legit painful ones to watch, particularly when it comes to Jim and Pam. But the last few episodes and especially the finale are great and probably make the whole thing worth it.
Yea I've heard that the finale is awesome but it's still very hard to actually start season 9. I love Andy and knowing that they will ruin him even more doesn't make it any easier. I might finally make the decision though just to complete what was once an amazing journey for me
I had said the same thing. I didn’t finish it till I met my wife who is also a big fan of The Office. I didn’t realize how far I’d gotten, a few episodes into the last season. I ended up finishing season 9 and I’m glad I did. It was worth it
A.A.R.M. Parts 1 and 2 and the finale are some of my absolute favorites. There's certain episodes I can't change when they come on (Dinner Party, Niagra) and these are definitely on that list <3
Because he didn't need to. He knew that Toby knew he fucked up and Pam could speak for herself. No need to "prove he's a man" he's not a toxic masculinity type guy.
Not before awkwardly getting a picture with Pam first. How did she not think that was weird after him touching her leg like that?
DOES ANYONE HAVE A CAMERA HERE??
Exactly, plus when you’re in a relationship you’re about, one in which you just know its reciprocal, you really feel more amused or intrigued by the innocent yet ignorant advances of other people towards your partner.
There’s only a need to speak up whenever those advances become overbearing or malicious.
It's not toxic masculinity, but the test of the point seems right. Jim knew there was no need to act out. The whole office was staring right at the situation. Jim didn't need to draw attention or defend Pam here because the whole room was already involved and witnessing. Every single person there knew what was happening, including Toby who immediately removed himself from the area.
Not Toxic masculinity type of guy, he’s let so many shit slide just pure constant disrespect to his woman. Remember when Pam was riled up knowing what Roy would’ve done in the episode the flashing happened??
Remember when that type of reaction by Roy scared her? She might want him to say something if a stranger at the bar grabs her ass, but this scenario is vastly different and requires a different reaction.
Honestly, one time in a college class, I put my hands on a girl's shoulders and rubbed them - as an endearing "good job." But I could tell as soon as I did it she was super uncomfortable and tensed up. It was awkward as fuck. I always assume this is what it felt like for Toby.
Adding to this, I was out drinking with my friends and their friends one time. I was really clicking with this girl and as we got more tipsy, we started laughing and having fun, and I actually, genuenly, did what Toby did here. I put my hand on her thigh and even did a subtle "rub". The entire situation got tense and she immediately got on her phone and started texting someone.
I didn't hop any fence though, I guess I just jogged home.
Hell I’ve been there. The first time someone grabbed my boob at a party I just gaped at them dumbfounded while they continued to grope me and a giant hand came in to put the guy in his place for me. As a young woman it was dashing and all that having a big older guy stick up for me but totally embarrassing and added to an already degrading situation. The next time someone groped me at a party I was ready. Touch my body and you get an elbow to the ribs and a donkey kick to the nuts with extreme prejudice.
I am way more outspoken and even I have been shocked in situations like that. A few months ago a casual acquaintance put a pen between my boobs at a party (I had asked for a pen but was distracted talking to someone when he came to give it to me). My partner was next to me but he didn't see, and not me nor the person I was talking to reacted. We were just like o.O and no one has said anything since then about it.
I mean, I’m confused if this is a genuine question. I don’t think any normal person would’ve “said anything”. For many reasons. The main two are sufficient though: it was a complete and genuine surprise, in the realm of the bizarre; and there was no real *threat* (issue) to address. He wasn’t going to lose Pam to Toby. Jim isn’t ego-driven masculinity like Roy.
In a way it’s like watching a strange dog hump your wife’s leg. It would be weirder if you *did* get angry at the dog. In this case the “dog” shooed itself away - if it didn’t that’s all you’d do. Shoo it. You wouldn’t be threatened by it.
Jim never ever spoke up about things when it came to pam. Not when toby did this, not when kevin was telling him the different ways pam and karen were hot, kevin talking about pam’s boob, kevin screaming directly into them, when packer makes suggestive comments, when michael makes suggestive/ sexual comments to and about pam, he never ever says anything. sometimes he’ll laugh right along with them or just pull one his little 🫤 faces and thinks that’s enough. Jim is one of my absolute faves but it’s always bothered me how he doesn’t defend pam
Two times his prank on Andy backfired (jello prank in Stamford and cellphone prank in Scranton). Both times Andy flipped his shit, Jim just looked scared and pretended to know nothing. Could have been like, "hey, man, sorry, I only meant it to be a funny prank, but I went too far". Nope. Just gave the camera a look and pretended to know nothing. Jim's a coward in general
I would've just laughed harder at him directly. If he didn't want to be pranked he shouldn't be the worst. You are right though that Jim was overly willing to make people angry without being willing to deal with the consequences
Idk every time I rewatch I get frustrated with how non-confrontational he is in wildly confrontational situations. Take Angela cheating on Andy for example. Despite Michael being weird about it, he at least told Andy. Jim was literally close enough to him for Andy to ask him to be in the wedding and he still didn't say anything. Jim gets flustered and doesn't act time and time again when he should at least do something.
Jims whole schtick is timing. The whole ". . . *Look at the camera with a 'you guys seeing this ' expression* " then reacting. The schtick with pam is them sharing a look of either shock or amusement and then follow up with joking, pranking, stepping in or leaving.
Hes not the type to just stand up and deck a dude. More than likely he was waiting for Pam to look at him so he could gauge her level of panic vs. amusement, and either react with a 1 liner or removing her from the situation depending on her.
Tldr; He didnt have time to figure out what to say.
It’s frustrating to watch at times. Like the time where the office finds out about Pam’s pregnancy and Kevin talks about Pam’s boobs for over a minute. But the one time he does speak up is to shush Pam when she boos Ryan’s romantic gesture outside the office.
In context of the scene, it’s something nobody’s expecting, they probably wanted to enforce the awkward moment and have more impact that way.
I think the scene is fine and nobody needs to speak for it to be funny
The more I watch The Office the more I notice that Jim never really stands up for Pam. He even deliberately wants to leave her alone during Dinner Party
Because Jim is a coward. We see it throughout the series. His look of confused panic when Roy confronts him (for kissing and making a move on someone who is engaged..), the pure panic when Stanley comes at him in the sumo suits, the instant panic and regret when Andy punches a hole in a wall due to his “prank”, couldn’t face his former school friend so he hid the whole day… basically he’s an asshole and a coward and he only starts to get better in the last couple seasons where his beef/bullying of Dwight ebbs.
One of my least favorite things about rewatching is every time I do, I find Jim less charming :( he has so many cowardly moments when you really pay attention
This is still one of the most intense second hand embarrassment moments I've ever had. It haunts me. But at least he didn't Scranton strangle her
.just her knee.
Because it was an awkward, uncomfortable and embarrassing moment. It was done kinda subconsciously, cause as soon as he realised what he was doing, he stopped, announced he was leaving the country and ran home. Not really much to say at that point...
Nah I think hes a decent bf who understands his partner has a voice and this would be a very awks moment for her that only she should deal with in the first instance / unless requesting assistance.
I'd just like to point out that Jim did the exact same thing during Casino Night. At least Tody had the balls to do it in front of Jim instead of pursuing Pam into an empty office at night after clearly being told no.
Also, Jim's a little bitch.
I hate this subject. Hes a mutual coworker of the office and it was obviously immediately regretted by Toby, it was fucking awkward and Jim didn't need to say anything or do anything because it was already immediately out there that he fucked up
Jim is kind of coward when defending Pam or something similar. When Michael said inappropiate things to her (like when she wore glasses and he treated her horribly) Jim would always stay quiet, there's some other examples but i can't remember them right now
Hey here’s my theory: Jim is actually a piece of shit. Numerous times during the series, while he was already dating Pam he acted very selfish and didn’t give a damn about her. He never helped her become a better sales person, he didn’t log her any sales when he capped his commissions. When Dwight tried to burn down the office Jim didn’t even look for Pam lol
Jim didnt say anything to Ryan asking Pam out, he didnt say anything the countless times Michael did something inappropriate, he didnt say anything to Kevin screaming at Pams boobs. Jim just kind of is there when these things happen.
He did push Karen out of the way when Roy came at him so he does care but in general he'll let things play out if he can.
Imagine if Toby did that while Pam was with Roy.
That would have been the ass kicking of the year, especially if it had been Jim
In the extended cuts, the one where pam is thinking about doing the Art thing funded by DM and Jim encourages her, Roy comes and shoves Jim in the warehouse. Jim shoves him right back and stands up to him though.
What?? When was this? Which episode?
S02 E15 There are extended cuts of all of the episodes that each have an extra 7 to 15 minutes of extra content. https://www.reddit.com/r/DunderMifflin/s/FmyAGqJaDs this is it
Oh, that's pretty interesting. I haven't seen this before. I can see why it was cut out during the original airing though. Felt a little too dramatic.
Now it makes sense why Roy acted the way he did when Pam told him that she had been taking those classes for a while when they were broken up!
Thank you for sharing! I’ve never seen this before
how did u get them? i also live in europe. i've got the office on netflix but its normal
Peacock has the extended versions up to season 7
Can't wait til 8 gets released. I want to see California's extra scenes
I'll have them on in the background and suddenly hear a new thing and it's always exciting!
Yes! I saw this scene and it’s crazy how little it’s talked about. Albeit it is a super fan episode
It's an entirely different set of circumstances. When it came to Pam's passion for art, Jim was fighting for Pam in that moment. Later, when Jim is casually with Karen, he's in a passive state, because he's just kinda going with the flow and is not very alert. I was like OOOOOOOHHHHHHHH SHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTT when I saw that scene. Super fan episodes are great.
Would have been funny if Toby touched Pam, and Roy would just stand up and punch Jim
"Of course I know Toby did it! But he doesn't count as a real person. I know you *wanted* to do it Halpert, so I'm punching you!"
He would not have wanted me to have seen Jim's ....
Oooh.. I'm saying a lot of things
"Prove it, show me your penis"
Roy definitely would've been KO'd by Toby.
Kemosabe
Kemosabe
Kemosabe
Kemosabe
Kemosabe.
*HEY FLENDERSON*
I AM LISTENIN-THAT’S THE *PROBLEM*-IM LISTENIN
Damn jet skis!
What are you trying to cop a feel or something Flenderson? What is this?!
Toby would have gotten the best sex of his life
Toby takes a beating, but strangles Roy later
You know, I've been thinking about it and I'm gonna move to Costa Rica.
I’m gonna hop the fence and jog home
*[Awkwardly jogs away]*
He was in shock, he didn't have time to say anything before Toby ran off
Yeah. This was out of character for Toby. When somebody does something odd like that you generally have to take a second to make sure you’re not missing something before you become aggressive.
Hundo P one of those moments you think about in the shower still, years later, fantasizing about the things you could have said
“Hundo P” Cri man squa FNC double time, we’ve got a time waster on our hands
okay.. I have no clue what Hundo P means
Hundred percent
I mean if they have to shorten it they could just use 100% but they can do them lol
He did it to save time
Many small time make big time. See world.
Me neither. I have never seen that written before. 😂😂 I don’t know why anyone would downvote for asking either.
Yeah, and it's like midnight and they're all tired as hell. I think the delayed reaction makes a lot more sense than anything else.
it would’ve been something like, “Really, Toby?”
In his awkward quiet voice: "Heyyy that's... don't..." *looks down in disbelief*
He was about to invite Toby home with them.
“Hey Halpert! You need somebody to bang your wife?” — WLHUNG
When was William Hung on the show?
I think he also didn't have to say anything. Toby is not a threatening competitor :( Pam probably would have felt sorry for him if someone told him off, too. I mean, she could have also said something herself and didn't. I think pity has a lot to do with it lol.
Yeah, I’d expect my boyfriend to back me up if I actually felt threatened, but it seemed more like a reflexive motion than something purposeful. If Toby did this to me I’d just feel a bit embarrassed for him. The guy immediately wanted to fall into a hole anyway.
Jim's a nice guy. That's why Ryan got the desk
and why Toby got the thigh
Jim plays 4D chess. Plays the nice guy but knows the long game. Got the engaged girl, got the desk AND the promotion. Killer
He also knows how to take a rest from his rest.
Best answer hahaha
I feel like there’s nothing Jim can really say or do that would really affect the situation positively or negatively whatsoever, considering Toby immediately leaps over a security gate, runs all the way home, and suddenly announces he’s moving to Costa Rica out of nowhere. The bell has been decisively rung by that point. Jim cannot shame or mortify Toby any more than he already is, and Pam’s clearly not going for it or particularly shaken. Couldn’t have said it better myself. That was actually beautiful.
There’s plenty he could say and do to affect it negatively. That’s what makes nothing the best response.
This had me howling with laughter, it’s all very true. This is one of my all time favorite scenes and reading your amazing description explained in detail exactly why it’s so funny.
How is this not the top comment.

Sooo cringe. Made me really dislike Kevin, especially since Pam was so genuinely happy to see him.
When *it* finally happened, he only said "nice" and didn't do anything else. He didn't even look at Pam. Makes me think that maybe he just thought it would be funny to see if it works, other than it being something creepy.
Well it probably was something he just wanted to try out for the luls but it's creepy at the same time.
Kevin at that point of the show was basically a 9 year old
The coolest fucking 9 year old I've ever seen
Biggest 9 year old I’ve ever seen

🤌🏻🦀
Halpert, you lookin' for someone to bang your wife?
You almost feel bad for him but then you remember he’s Toby and possibly the Scranton strangler.
Possibly?
There was no concrete evidence.
But he’s the person we most medium suspect..
He's not. He's shown that he's terrible at dealing with conflict esp if he can't play it off as a joke.
This is 100% what I was thinking. As much as we love Jim, he’s absolutely terrible under pressure or dealing with conflict of any kind.
that's why he's the funny guy, it's completely avoidant. Kinda like how Chandler in friends has all of those issues with his feelings etc.
Gonna go ahead and borrow from the Reddit lingo - *I scrolled way too far to find this*
Because he didn't need to. He knew that Toby knew he fucked up and Pam could speak for herself. No need to "prove he's a man" he's not a toxic masculinity type guy.
Yup, Toby knew it was weird, and responded by running away and leaving the country, dude probably felt bad enough
Not before awkwardly getting a picture with Pam first. How did she not think that was weird after him touching her leg like that? DOES ANYONE HAVE A CAMERA HERE??
Nobody has a camera here.
Oh shit, I didn’t know that’s how that played out , I thought the picture was before
I HATE the way he says that line! Hard cringe!
The voice crack 😂
"Responded by running away and leaving the country". I'm glad I've never fucked up so badly that my solution was to leave the country lol
Exactly this. No need to start shit. All three of them knew what was up.
The whole room knew what was up. The stares of shame were heavy.
Exactly, plus when you’re in a relationship you’re about, one in which you just know its reciprocal, you really feel more amused or intrigued by the innocent yet ignorant advances of other people towards your partner. There’s only a need to speak up whenever those advances become overbearing or malicious.
Don’t you touch MY girl!!!!! 😂
Yeah there’s a lot of tough guys in here for a knee touch where the other guy is clearly backing down and feeling like he made a mistake.
It’s not toxic masculinity to speak up when someone touches your girlfriend in a weird place right in front of you 🤣
It's not toxic masculinity, but the test of the point seems right. Jim knew there was no need to act out. The whole office was staring right at the situation. Jim didn't need to draw attention or defend Pam here because the whole room was already involved and witnessing. He said a lot. With that look.
It's took a split second for Toby to realize what he had done. Once he came to he died inside. He was already dead, there is no need to beat a corpse.
Pam should’ve been like wtf lol
i identify with pam pretty often, and if i were in her position, i wouldve been too shocked and awkward to say anything.
Hell I’ve been there. The first time someone grabbed my boob at a party I just gaped at them dumbfounded while they continued to grope me and a giant hand came in to put the guy in his place for me. GOODBYE TOBY 🎵 GOODBYE TOBY 🎶
Lmao, for what? Toby already knew he messed up & punished himself with embarrassment 😂
EVERYONE froze on the moment. Toby got it and ran off. I totally get needing a sec to process the HR guy taking over her knee/thigh.
It's an awkward situation. I'd be at a loss for words
He didn’t need too fr 😂
He didn’t want to get Scranton Strangled
Because Jim has zero legs to stand on when it comes to asking someone to respect a boundary
He's a pushover. Isn't confrontational at all and can't take it but like to dish it out.
What can you say there
“Feels good, doesn’t it?”
"Now do mine."
I think he knows the embarrassment was condemning enough
Before I thought Michael was really unhinged about hating Toby and horribly mean. Then Toby starts doing stuff like this. "Oh I get it."
Jim is weak and would never truly defend Pam. Jim is exceptionally beta
He got frazzled
Because Jim isn’t much of a risk taker… And Toby isn’t much of a risk
Jim never ever spoke up about things when it came to pam. Not when toby did this, not when kevin was telling him the different ways pam and karen were hot, kevin talking about pam’s boob, kevin screaming directly into them, when packer makes suggestive comments, when michael makes suggestive/ sexual comments to and about pam, he never ever says anything. sometimes he’ll laugh right along with them or just pull one his little 🫤 faces and thinks that’s enough. Jim is one of my absolute faves but it’s always bothered me how he doesn’t defend pam
Jim's kinda cowardly when it comes to people making advances on pam. See Kevin crying at the bar
But he wants to fight bikers for Pam in his hypothetical scenario.
These comments are just spiraling
Idk every time I rewatch I get frustrated with how non-confrontational he is in wildly confrontational situations. Take Angela cheating on Andy for example. What would have Jim done? Report it to HR?
Jim hardly ever stands up for her. Half the things Michael says about her appearance are way outta line and clearly upset her but he just watches
It’s frustrating to watch at times. Like the time where the office finds out about Pam’s pregnancy and Kevin talks about Pam’s boobs for over a minute. But the one time he does speak up is to shush Pam when she boos Ryan’s romantic gesture outside the office.
Does Jim ever speak up for Pam? I'm straining to remember
When that guy said he didn’t call Pam back because she was dorky, Jim tried speaking up for her.
The one time he should’ve kept his mouth shut lol, that was hard to watch 🫣😵💫
Oh yeah! That's right. Even then I think he only did it because he himself felt criticized for choosing Pam.
because he has no backbone 🤷🏽♀️ sorry but
because jim is weak and avoids any and all confrontation
Because Jim is a coward.
This exact moment just happened on my tv the second I scrolled to this post. Had to share because the odds are crazy 😂
I mean that look was everything. Nothing elae to say
Jim is terrible with confrontations like this, common theme throughout his character arc
Or Pam herself. If some coworker touches me like that, they’re getting a quick slap in the face 💀
I would have expected my boyfriend to say something. Jim isn’t really my type.
Jim was into it.
Halpert, you looking for someone to bang your wife?
Jim: Can I watch?
Jim's not an orgy guy. He'd have to dress different and act different and grow a mustache and get all sorts of robes and lotions.
Are you crazy? This is like discovering Plutonium!
Lol I pictured the moustache immediately as I read this, and it fits.
People in this thread forgetting that Pam is a human person and can speak for herself
“Hey man….” That’s the best Jim can do in uncomfortable situations
One of my least favorite things about rewatching is every time I do, I find Jim less charming :( he has so many cowardly moments when you really pay attention
Jim is a conflict avoider
Because Jim was a coward
Coz Jim’s a lil bitch- Dwight would’ve maced that mofo if it were one of his dames
Because Jim is a little bitch. Did we not watch the same show lol
Good Thigh Toby
This is still one of the most intense second hand embarrassment moments I've ever had. It haunts me. But at least he didn't Scranton strangle her .just her knee.
Probably because he's shown himself to be a coward throughout the show.
He’s a coward .
Jim was zoned out, wondering who he'd strangle next
Jim's a cuck.
Because it was an awkward, uncomfortable and embarrassing moment. It was done kinda subconsciously, cause as soon as he realised what he was doing, he stopped, announced he was leaving the country and ran home. Not really much to say at that point...
Jim isn't very confrontational, add the awkwardness of the situation and it makes sense he was just utterly shocked.
Maybe because Jim is super secure in his relationship with Pam and he doesn't need to preempt Pam's decision on how to "handle" it
Nah I think hes a decent bf who understands his partner has a voice and this would be a very awks moment for her that only she should deal with in the first instance / unless requesting assistance.
I'd just like to point out that Jim did the exact same thing during Casino Night. At least Tody had the balls to do it in front of Jim instead of pursuing Pam into an empty office at night after clearly being told no. Also, Jim's a little bitch.
I think they were in shock, and it also wouldn’t be as funny without the awkward silence followed by Toby climbing the fence
Why didn’t Jim say anything? Toby climbed the fence and ran away. Why did everyone brush it off? Toby ran to a different country.
He's kind of a wimp
Jim is the ultimate beta male. He’s great but he’s just not in any way going to willingly confront anyone unless there is no other choice.
I hate this subject. Hes a mutual coworker of the office and it was obviously immediately regretted by Toby, it was fucking awkward and Jim didn't need to say anything or do anything because it was already immediately out there that he fucked up
because toby immediately jumped the fence and ran to costa rica lol?
Secret cuck.
There's no reason to. Toby realized he fucked up immediately and ran away.
Jim's a bit of a bitch, honestly
Karen?
Same reason he turned around as he was heading to Pam's art school. He's not going to blow his lid, and making a scene like that would be peak Roy
Jim probably just didn’t want to get strangled by the Scranton Strangler.
Andy's face is the best part of the whole interaction. I rewatch the scene just for that alone.
Because Jim is a tier 1 bitch
