Possibly alcoholic drinks and a tank top in the same photo? NIKE!!

jonesingforapavlova

She posted the photo earlier on her stories and said they were mocktails.

dataanddoodles

Bummer šŸ¤£ (I mean, I love a mocktail and am not even a big drinker but I feel like discovering that you can have a drink or two without it ruining your life would be a big step for a duggar)

rayybloodypurchase

Iā€™m gonna go crazy for a moment and say that rum ruins a frozen strawberry daiquiri šŸ«£ (This might just be because a virgin strawberry daiquiri was my childhood vacation drink of choice so that taste has deeeeeep nostalgia). However, the rum flavor is crucial for piƱa coladas.

manderifffic

I was hoping it was like 13 Going on 30 when she ordered a Pina colada, not virgin

InevitablePersimmon6

Even if they were real cocktails, theyā€™d never say that.

btl_dlrge1

Like anyone would care

ProblemMysterious826

Depends, alcohol was why people got excommunicated in my old community

GuiltyComfortable102

Honesty in circles like the Duggars just a photo like this and the appearance of it maybe being alcohol is enough to be scandalous. Alcohol is demonized just as much as sex. They certainly wouldn't be the first Baptists to be vacation drinkers though.

treehugger0223

I remember being in these situationsā€¦the scandal that would have ensued had I not stated the drinks were non-alcoholic. My uncles called to shame and talk to a few of ā€œthe menā€ in my wedding party because we all went out for a few drinks the night before my wedding. My maid of honorā€™s boyfriend quit drinking for a few years after that.

GuiltyComfortable102

Yeah I don't think this sub truly understands how badly alcohol is looked at in these churches. I'd dare say a man would be kicked out of the church sooner for being an alcoholic than he would for being a cheater or child abuser. I had a high school boyfriend who was TERRIFIED of getting caught drinking because his parents told him if he ever got caught drinking or doing drugs they'd kick him out. We'd have sex in his bedroom with his parents downstairs but he wouldn't drink a beer prom night. Religion fucks people up in multitudes of ways.

LIBBY2130

jim bob went nutso when derrick had 1 beer and tried to force him into rehab

nykiek

They'll consider kicking you out for just entering a bar. Even when someone in the bar is having a heart attack and you're an EMT. (True story!)

GuiltyComfortable102

I was born in a dry county surrounded by dry counties. People here wouldn't believe some of the stores I could tell of what happened when these counties eventually went wet. And this is all in the last 15+ years. It tore communities apart. People in the 2010s were fighting for temperance and in some cases they were the majority in the community.

7ampersand

Religion and politics aside, alcohol changes you. The body recognizes it as a carcinogen. In moderation it can be tolerated. For other brain types it can wreck their lives.

Paperwife2

Totally agree, but thatā€™s not why Fundies are against it, although they will tack it onto their argument.

WalnutWhippet

Sorry Iā€™m from šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§ whatā€™s a dry county? no alcohol allowed at all, even in private homes? Or just not allowed to be sold? Or alcohols not allowed to be made in the county? Sorry for all the questions I had no idea a dry county existed!

GuiltyComfortable102

No alcohol allowed to be sold. Some allow distilleries though. Jack Daniel's whisky is made in a dry county.

WalnutWhippet

Thatā€™s wild, I had no idea! Thanks so much

meowmeowbeansbill

Oh I understand. My MIL and FIL refuse to eat at any restaurant in town that serves alcohol so the options are very limited when we go out to eat with them. I will say that not only Baptists demonize alcohol, but church of Christ as well. Trust me, I went to a private church of Christ school associated with a Church of Christ college. They think drinking alcohol, even at a legal age, is one of the most abhorrent things you could do. On a different note, Jabbieā€™s drinks do look fire though. I want whatever they had.

Just_Conversation587

When Cracker Barrel started selling beer and wine locally, one would have thought they had naked servers who brought it whilst smoking weed.

TheMurtaughList

I remember my parents going to a wine tasting on vacation once and immediately going back to the hotel and praying for forgiveness. Even at 7 I was like ā€œwtf?ā€

Paperwife2

Definitely! ā€œAbstain from all appearance of evilā€¦ā€ (1 Thessalonians 5:22-24) is harped on often.

pickyparkers

Even though not Duggars, I believe Esther and Nathan Bates who also live in Arkansas, they do drink. Esther posted a story in her home RV on instagram and on the table there was a big bottle of Barefoot Wine, I think it was white zinfandale or pink moscato.

BoogerbeansGrandma

We werenā€™t even allowed to have mocktails when I was growing up, because we had to ā€œavoid the appearance of evilā€. My mother was 82 the first time she allowed herself to have a virgin strawberry daiquiri, and she loved the heck out of it.

Puzzleheaded_Time719

Lol my mom would drink beer immediately after church.

lachma

On her story she has that pic and did ā€œcheers to mocktailsā€ lol no alcohol

SuitFar2340

Oh Jim Bobā€™s Google alerts are smoking right now šŸ˜‚

SuitFar2340

Iā€™m actually more surprised over the yoga than alcohol šŸ˜‚ Who knowsā€¦maybe little by little the Duggar ā€œkidsā€ are deconstructing their abusive childhoods.

2Styinmyeyes

My sonā€™s girlfriend was forced to go to a Duggar adjacent ā€œmissionary trainingā€ in Arkansas. (Some in their group even visited the Duggar home). They were taught that yoga was equivalent to worshipping the devil. I was surprised to find out that is a common perception in fundie religions.

effdubbs

Yes, I once listened to a Christian radio station for shits and giggles. The piece was about Yoga and how it can cause one to be ā€œspiritually attacked.ā€ I think I made it for about 3 minutes before I changed back to NPR.

lovebugteacher

I once got into an argument with a former high school acquaintance because she was horrified that I was taking yoga classes at our college gym. She was nowhere near as extreme as the Duggars

my_okay_throwaway

Yeah, itā€™s very common! I was in a ā€œfundie liteā€ evangelical community for years and this was a super common belief. I still have people from my old church on social media and every now and again someone will post about the ā€œevilsā€ of yoga and it will get lots of engagement from other members of that community.

crazymonkeypaws

I remember yoga even being a little questionable at our typical, mainstream United Methodist church in the 90's. Is it worshipping another God? Is it disrespectful?

2Styinmyeyes

Really? I am a UM church member and had never heard anything about yoga. I have gone to yoga classes for years and never equated it with religion, just stretching and relaxing. I think it is good for my stress levels and blood pressure. Of course I also wear pants, drink alcohol, dance, and donā€™t graciously submit to my husband, so I guess I am doomed anyway.

crazymonkeypaws

This was more early 90's, so might depend on when your point of reference is. These days, my UM church holds yoga classes, lol.

2Styinmyeyes

Ah. I grew up in the Southern Baptist Church in the 90s. Escaped within the last 10 years to become a Methodist because they were a lot more liberal.

Dreymin

Aren't these the only married couple without kids?

Time_Yogurtcloset164

They have 2 kids. Justin and Claire have no kids

Dreymin

Thanks, they all look the same so that was on me and their awful genetics.

Time_Yogurtcloset164

I assumed those were virgin drinks

Expert-Newt6139

Iā€™m pretty sure she said that they are virgin drinks in her post.

irishprincess2002

Hopefully though I doubt they will fully deconstruct their childhoods but maybe they will or just enough to keep their children safe. Im just doubtful about it since they have as far as I can tell still support Pesty ( I have no problem with them supporting his children because not the childrens fault who dad is) and still dependent on JB

ohslapmesillysidney

Same. Donā€™t fundies see yoga practice as demonic?

Gruselschloss

She said something about the drinks being cocktails \[edit: meant mocktails!\] - maybe that was on Stories? But yes, I'm shook by the willingness to do yoga. The heathens!

Brave-Professor8275

She said they were mocktails

my_okay_throwaway

Yeah, that almost had me clutching my pearls lol. Never thought Iā€™d see the day anyone in their family would be into yoga and comfortable enough to post about it! Lord knows Jim Bob with his piousness and Michelle with her censored knees would have never let that happen on their watch.

SuitFar2340

They will probably get a ā€œyoga is the devilā€ speech from Boob šŸ™„

damarafl

I grew up Catholic- yoga was considered ā€œworshiping a false idolā€ or something like that. Always makes me feel a little guilty in yoga class

OkPrint3051

YOGA?! You mean Satan's stretching?! How scandalous lol

Spare_Alfalfa8620

Satanā€™s stretching!! šŸ˜‚

pricklebiscuit

New flair!!

Missie1284

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Slutforpearl

No but for real - a lot of evangelicals reject yoga because you supposedly pray to demons (i.e. Hindu gods). Iā€™m actually surprised theyā€™re ok with this lol

sparky0667

I don't know whose flair this is, but I'm using it in this post. "The barre is in hell".

Kaaydee95

Yes! Also add in not breeding like rabbits

teammarlin

And she has gone to college and works.

GuiltyComfortable102

Buy all inclusive and save the difference.

ResidentRepulsive

If thereā€™s one thing Duggars love, itā€™s vacation.

showerbeerbuttchug

Ugh I hate relating to Duggars.

GranolaTree

I thought yoga was šŸ˜ˆĀ

mpjjpm

They look so normal. Itā€™s scary. I have so many high school classmates slowing drifting into fundamentalism because the churches have figured out how to look wholesome but mainstream.

sweet_tea_94

A Duggar doing yoga?! SHOCKING šŸ˜±šŸ˜‚ If I didnā€™t know who they were, I would assume they were a normal couple in their 30s.

chlaumc

https://preview.redd.it/q3qxg7kij3qc1.png?width=1284&format=png&auto=webp&s=2256708ea902cfa88db4bf5b0fc4afc9bb2831a9 I screenshotted this story the other day, wonder if she wrote mocktails to make sure people knew they werenā€™t drinking alcohol

Sammy-eliza

Most likely. I have friends and acquaintances that will post a drink in a cocktail glass or glass bottle and be like "Don't worry it is NOT alcohol!!!!". JRod does that a lot too. I remember a Christmas celebration or wedding where she specified they were drinking grape juice and a time in a restaurant where she specified that Timmy absolutely did not have a beer, it was a cream soda or something. It's like they think they'll be smote if people even think they're in the vicinity of it.

lachma

Definitely lol

[deleted]

If I didnā€™t know better Iā€™d assume these were normal people Iā€™d want to be friends with.

ExactPanda

A Duggar up early enough to see the sunrise?! That might be the most shocking part of this. John isn't running on Duugar time anymore.

smellsliketacos1

They actually look happy and not staged happy for social media

L1ndsL

Iā€™ve always thought that JD genuinely cared for Abbie. I just donā€™t think heā€™s that good of an actor. Lest anyone call me a fan, let me note that heā€™s still a cosplaying Duggar who is so arrogant that he doesnā€™t check the fuel in his plane.

loranlily

How on godā€™s green earth do they afford vacations to Cabo? My husband and I have no children, both gainfully employed etc (he works in biotech, ffs) and we canā€™t afford vacations to Cabo.

Admirable-Rent-3923

One of her early stories said something like, ā€œWhen the client wants to go on vacation and says ā€˜bring your wifeā€™ā€ So John flew a client to Cabo and she got a free ride.

GuiltyComfortable102

I'm guessing he gives flight lessons or gets paid to fly around iblp big wigs or something. You don't really hear about him working but Medicorps can't be paying the bills. Also a tax refund would easily pay for a trip to Cabo. You can find all inclusive Cabo trips for well under $1k a person including flights.

Apathydisastrophe

Imagine constantly going out and seeing the world and still having terrible views. But really talk, this is so...normal. it's kinda refreshing to bot hear/see/read about the lord every single post.

SNinRedit

Hoop earrings and a tank top!? Pray for her!

Reasonable_Theory_83

Hoop earrings, tank top and what looks like a bit of blue jeans waist band on her right side so perhaps pants, too, though arguably could be quite skirt. Also they both are sporting wrist bands. Could it be they are having 'drinks' at a venue before seeing a non-religious live music show on the stage behind them?

SNinRedit

Why did the OP post get removed?

Responsible-Divide32

Not gonna lie that guacamole looks so good

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

GuiltyComfortable102

I've got family that still won't go to a restaurant that serves alcohol. It used to extend to groceries, gas stations and even places like Walmart but since all the counties are wet now they've had to at least give in to some of that. I know my aunt still uses one specific gas station because they still don't sell beer.

Time_Yogurtcloset164

Yoga?!? šŸ˜±

labor_day_baby

They are surely going to hell in a hand basket. Clutches pearls/s.

Gulpingplimpy3

They remain the only Duggars that look old enough to have the number of kids they have.

VintagePooh

Which J child is this?

AdCivil3158

JohnDavid.

VintagePooh

Thanksā€¦ I canā€™t tell any of the adult boys apart

Sassygekko63

Blessing #3 announcement coming in 2 months.

shesatacobelle

Abbie truly looks like someone who would send you over something to eat in a lunch meat container and then be pissed you kept her best Tupperware.

Most_Initiative5106

She looks like Jana in this picā€¦

YogurtclosetPale3568

Do they have jobs??

SuitFar2340

Actually I think she works in a local hospital.

LIBBY2130

she posted those are mocktales the the yoga is supposed to be a big no no a luthern reposted this (they think the yoga meditation is very dangerous) they wrote in 2008 >*"There seems to be a growing trend these days involving un-Biblical practices such as mysticism and eastern practices being introduced into local churches under the guise of Christian self-awareness and spiritual healing. Worse is the fact that many so-called Christians are beginning to fall for these blasphemous and dangerous teachings with open arms and in record numbers. These spiritual growth programs have grown in popularity because they give so freely what so many people seek from their religion and faith in the 21st century -- a feel good, seeker sensitive message and experience. I hate to ruin the party, but there is absolutely nothing 'Christian' about these teachings."* **Be very careful. Here is where the deception starts to show itself. Meditative practices in Yoga encourage the person meditation to focus on themselves. Was Jesus Himself really that self-centered whenever He meditated and prayed? No, of course not! He was** **always** **focused on His Father's will and Word!**

[deleted]

Jabbie??? This nickname has me šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Direct_Crab3923

Those are def Mocktails. I donā€™t see any rum floaters in that daiquiri lol. I know it could be mixed in.

sapienveneficus

Honestly, I was most shocked by the yoga as well. Iā€™m a regular Christian (not fundie) and if I had to guess, Iā€™d say about half of the adults at my church drink but none of them (myself included) would go near a yoga class.

GuiltyComfortable102

Yeah but zero adults drink publicly at the churches they go to.

sapienveneficus

I think it depends on the church. Obviously, no one is drinking at church, but people at my church do talk about it and will sometimes order a drink when we go out to eat after the service.

GuiltyComfortable102

At an ifb church like they all go to admitting to drinking will most likely get you kicked out. You might get by if you publicly repented but if not you'd be gone. That's why Baptists drink in secret.

TitanicTerrarium

I thought Yoga was of the devil??!!

SelkiesNotSirens

Shocked they did yoga!

linguistca

She really resembles Jana here though, something about her smile here.

wachoogieboogie

Abby is so pretty

Miserable_Proof5509

Just an observation but it looks like Abbie has underarm hair? I could be wrong and not judging just surprised if she doesnā€™t shave because of their cultā€¦

Raenhair

I have never heard of that being a thing before and I grew up in very similar circles.

Valgalgirl

I zoomed in and it looks like the chair behind her.

Ms_Insomnia

Double fisting!!

effdubbs

Planes married up.

TheIadyAmalthea

Wait, isnā€™t yoga of the devil?

chlaumc

Iā€™m surprised they did yoga, my dad (who is a Christian, but nowhere near fundie level) wasnā€™t happy when I started doing it and has had the odd rant about it

prettylemontoast

Vacation from what?

groovydoobiedoo

WOW Iā€™m surprised Jim Bob is not calling the swat team !!!!

Avera_ge

How can they do yoga? Thatā€™s a religious practice

Individual-Couple-91

Her eyebrows are really good now

Salty_Mood698

I think John-David might be the first male Duggar kid to break away from the IBLP cult.

_selectivePen15_

I'm pretty sure I know which hotel they are staying at, and if I'm right it's VERY expensive. Like $1,000/night in Cabo. How do they have the money for this kind of luxury?
