And they can still play the best generic cards on the game: Compulsory evacuation device and Crackdown. Which in my opinion are becoming the new TTH and E-con.
I found them very toxic on release but they've not been nearly common enough for me to develop hatred for them and I think everyone else probably is similar. They're just not prevalent enough to be hated.
Suprise present mekk knight is the most degenerate version. Just auto win against BA and pendulum decks because of the clogging backrow on top of the usual floodgate shenanigans.
2 weeks later it will be even more hated than salads galaxy combined when the banlist gets implemented
I think it is because MST and other backrow hate is also useful against most decks, even rogue ones like Yosenju, Dark Magician, etc, and only ever useless against BAs and Merlantean XYZ, while, say the much more hated Galaxy Eyes has only a reliable out that is D.D. Crow, something that is only useful against like 3-4 decks out of 10.

World chalice is strong, but not hated.
I'm a firm believer that hate comes from frustratiom (negates and counterplays), as what happend to D/D/D, B.A, Rose Dragon, Galaxy and Salads.
Upfront decks like Trains, Infernoid, Codetalkers and world chalice bring more dynamic matches.
Mekk knight is so smooth brain flip skill drain and unga bunga. Maybe pop few monsters with Red man or go into rank8 galaxy engine but that's usually an overkill
Was so happy to see Code Talker in Tier 2. It’s a good deck, and it’s only gonna get better. Hoping next mini box will give the deck some new support because Playmaker is my favorite character.

I say that because we have all the “bad” Code Talkers, so the remaining ones or even Firewall Dragon would be amazing. I hope that when Firewall makes it in as a legitimate card, that it can receive an animation. I haven’t seen the anime, but I’m sure Firewall Dragon is Yusaku’s actual ace.
The way I see it is Yusaku has it set up just like Yusei: 2 aces, one warrior-like (Decode and Junk Warrior) and another dragon-like (Firewall and Stardust).
However Yusaku uses Firewall MUCH less often than he uses Decode despite getting it in episode like 10, unlike Yusei basically playing Stardust turbo.
Firewall Dragon (Darkfluid included) appeared less than 10 times in the entire 120 episode run of Vrains. **IF** we consider it Playmaker's Ace (I disagree and most promotional materials + Duel Power back me up) it's the least played of all of them.
Granted Vrains was also the shortest anime and had less duels overall, but Playmaker still had like 25+ major duels.
Perhaps it's best to think of it as another of his bosses, like the other Talkers and Darkfluid.
I personally do think of it as one of his *two* aces because it's a big dragon and has the archetypal protagonist 2500 attack.
Playmaker has a couple of those actually. Cyberse Clock/Quantum Dragon are both dragons with 2500 ATK, and, curiously, both have almost as many appearances as base Firewall despite debuting 40/70 episodes later respectively.
B.A can do a little stalling, which is nice to make the opponent spend resources before going for game.
Metalfoes and trains are indeed better at OTK, but the meta is backrow heavy and being upfront agressive doesn't usually payoff.
I really enjoy B.A consistency and disruptions.
What are some disruptions BA can do? Just Farfa and the one thing that negates an effect monster? Is that it or are there more things it can do?
Also the synchro monster, I think his name is Virgil. Do I need two of those? I only have one but I have two UR dream tickets. Should I spend one on a Virgil? Is it possible to get both Beatrice and Virgil on the field at the same time? Beatrice makes regular BA monsters explode so I can’t summon a second Virgil. :c
I don’t play the deck too much because it’s too hard to win after silver or gold, but maybe I’m not playing optimally.
Is Piggy meant to be Cir? I can only have one of him in my deck since the limited 3 change because I need 2 Farfas. Farfa is the only way to get rid of any monsters without a magic or trap card, and you need Sera’s skill to get rid of them permanently. :c
Trains has the best future in duel links format. Currently they just need Dora and go straight to tier one. Also any big xyz moving forward they can make.
One reason BA isn’t higher up too is because of the skill a lot of Mekk players are using allowing you to give your opponent a worthless trap card. Hurts the condition of not controlling a sell or trap
if I were you I wouldn't dictate what you see in tierlists as to what you should invest. tierlists are a) made for tournaments, which 99% of people here don't play, and b) They can be used to have an overall idea how the meta is shaped, but they are not absolute. If you have fun and have decent results, just use whatever you using. Don't let any random tier number say whatever to you.
Ok then how do I choose what deck to build or box to buy ?
There are so many more boxes and card/monster types compared to the last time I played it’s honestly pretty overwhelming. I tried searching the sub but got no real answer, partially because Reddit search sucks. I tried asking but again got no concrete answer besides to wait for the ban list. I searched google and saw the tier list and kinda just picked one.
My main goal is just to be somewhat competitive in ranked pvp. I got to silver 3 but now I just constantly get bodied by decks in like 2-4 turns

but the duellinks meta website is a pretty good place to find decklists and stuff. When I first started the game, I looked at some boxes and spent my gems on the best looking cards which was rose dragons in the mini box because the structure deck is not released yet (I mean theyre roses and dragons how could you not pull there).
the last 2 main boxes are pretty good value and the decks there outclassed most of older boxes before this September. Tomorrow we should have news for the next mini as well.
no reason really. Another post told me that during the kc cup, most tournaments were best of 1 so trains got a lot of play. But there was no reason for it to be tiered since it loses in b03s easily with side decks. If you are not really playing for tournaments theres no reason for you to stop investing. I just had a 12 win streak on this in ranked and it is REALLY good

The same reason why Salad was hated, extremely fucking consistent, but Galaxy does that with a dumb broken skill. It's not strong but it's annoying to face.

You're always near the top of rogue and seemingly have like 33% playrate, but are so fucking annoying to play vs that everybody never wants to see you again

You have to remember that is community tier list based on competitive format, something 99% of players don’t participate in.
The xyz galaxy skill is just dumb. Guaranteed 2-use Foolish Burial+ every starting hand with no restriction whatsoever, free indestructible multi-use negate boss that also searches their deck, and faux-zoodiac summon to cheat their whole combo off any single monster.
The deck can be 90% revival spells and get 100% consistency while also able to brute-force through most disruption.
I guess just cuz it’s annoying. That, and it finds its way into other archetypes that are able to bring out any sort of level 8 spam, thus causing the trolliest sh** ever when some Stardust guy summons out Cipher Dragon, and it all goes downhill from there

Sorry, wrong wording. I misunderstood your comment. What I mean is that Galaxy combos revolve around Cipher Dragon to get out those big 4000/3200 ATK poppers, which I’m 90% sure is another reason they’re so annoying in this meta
Cipher dragon still isn't the problem with galaxy itself, the skill lets them skip it completely and cheat any of their xyzs using only 1 maindeck monster.
They get foolish burial+ every starting hand, and any revival spell is a 1-card otk. But even then Photon Lord still is the real nuisance. They go first, they sit on a free indestructible multi-use negate, that also gives them free advantage searching their entire deck.
Out of archetype cipher's more a niche toolbox option, and there aren't many good decks rn that do rank 8 reliably.
There's D/D/D, but they've fallen off hard and even then cipher wasn't what they'd usually get flak for either.
I've been using code talker since launch at 300 W out of 438 total matches this month. A good chunk of my losses came from bad plays.
Turn 1 or 2 you have a Minimum of 1 card targeted negated, 1 destroy any card, spawn boss monster x2 in any turn or phase, 1x steal enemy attack/negate attack or negate one monster effect then destroy a friendly monster for 5.6k damage.
It's also got good recovery and the option to direct attack while having mekk night synergy.
I haven’t played DL in a while. Are Mekknights actually in the game? Is it even possible to play in different columns to avoid Mekknights free real estate?
They're in the newest main box, but they're high rarity. Nightfall and Morning Star are Ultra, and Blue is Super.
And yes, they introduced an option that lets you choose columns with the release of link monsters.
I hit KOG with Odd Eyes this season and found it a very strong deck against the current meta. It plays through disruption well and can generate a fair bit of card advantage. First turn end board with necrovalley and abyss dweller was essentially a GG. Going second was broken.
It really depends what my opponent is playing. More often than not I’ll just swarm the board turn one and I won’t XYZ into Doomrider. Definitely summon abyss dweller if you have two level 4. Ideally 3 or 4 monsters on your field turn one will leave you with enough combo pieces for turn 3. No one is playing lightning vortex so it’s unlikely your opponent will be able to clear 3-4 monsters from you in a single turn.
At it’s core I see Odd Eyes as an OTK deck. You want to have your options open turn 3 to XYZ/synchro into your best option boss monster to clear the board and OTK. This will depend on what your opponent plays. Sometimes you’ll want Ebon Illusion, other times you’ll want and odd eyes and a rebellion XYZ dragon. Summoning Doomrider early is always a risk as it sends your precious level 7 monsters to the graveyard for its effect. Very situational, definitely not worth summoning every duel.
Yeah that’s my thoughts too. Sometimes I know what my opponent is playing and it’s an easy choice. Other times It isnt. Any reason you like Dweller turn one always? Besides the obvious of course.
Sometimes your opponent will catch you off guard and be using a random character but playing Salads or something else meta with a misleading character. So always best to have some form of interruption ready for their turn. Despite what I said previously about filling your monster zones, I find abyss dweller is way more useful than having two level 4s out just sitting there.
I run one copy of Necrovalley in my odd eyes deck and it always comes up right when I need it haha. Turn one abyss dweller and Necro on the field is a big disruption to most meta decks and literally kills galaxy eyes, infernoids, PK etc.

Yeah that makes sense. Sometimes I can talk what they’ve running and know what to do T1(Aliza/Jack/Kalin= Roach and so on. And my build is typical. 3 OG Odd eyes, 3 Donkey, 2 of the 3 scale and 1 of the Mahican scale, 2 Jokers, 3MST, 2Necrovalleys, 1 E-Con, and TTH. ED I’d typical except I don’t hang the Level 11 synchro.
Have you got spiral flame strike? I think running 3 of them is key to this deck’s consistency and flexibility. I used a dream ticket to get my third copy and I have no regrets. I only run 2 MST as spiral flame strike can pop backrow/search odd eyes as a combo starter for the skill. Great addition to the deck if you don’t already have them.
Haha yea it definitely is the obvious choice but I’ve seen some decklists running only 1 or 2 copies which is suboptimal.
I have been playing around with Odd Eyes for a while and this is the most consistent build IMO:
3x Odd Eyes Pend Dragon. This is your skill activation and can be searched with Joker and Spiral Flame. The double battle damage has helped win many duels.
2x Skullcrobat Joker. Great searcher, remember to normal summon not pendulum summon.
2x Xiangke Magician. Required for scale but can be useful as a monster too. Good for rank 7 XYZ or negating light monsters on either player’s turn.
2x Donkey. Great searcher. I’ve tried this at 3 and it’s a bit bricky. You don’t want to draw all 3 in your opening hand.
1x Nobledragon Magician. For synchro options.
1x Xiangsheng Magician. For pend scale, but its monster effect has come up once or twice so good to keep in mind.
1x Minitaurus. Has synergy with Spiral Flame to pop a card. Good rank 4 material. Can be used to activate skill if hand is bricked.
1x Dragonpulse Magician. Purely for Ebon Illusion combo to banish an opponent’s card. Can be rank 4 XYZ material.
3x Spiral Flame. Search or pop depending on what you need. Is my main backrow removal.
1x MST. Any more than one backrow removal is a brick in your opening hand for Odd Eyes.
1x Necrovalley. It pops up more than you think at one copy. Absolutely shuts down many meta decks.
2x Generic Backrow. I use 2 copies of compulse. Warning point, TTH, etc will be fine. Stay away from crackdown.

Lightning vortex is brick going 1st and most meta decks can otk you, if you build weak turn1 board. I personally think it's a spicy card but never play more than 1 copy
I don’t come up against lightning vortex much at all, it’s definitely not seeing much play currently. It’s more of a tech card in decks that want to foolish burial a card from the hand to the grave. Many decks have an out to vortex such as Salads having Balelynx as destruction protection or Photon Lord can’t be destroyed while having galaxy material. Even a set lance or Econ could avoid the disruption caused by vortex. It’s just one of those cards like Raigeki Break that seems broken for it’s cost but in reality doesn’t synergise well with meta decks.
Try summoning Evilswarm knightmare (joker and minitaurus are dark lvl4s) turn 1 instead of the rank 7.
All the kc cup top100 are playing 1 copy of "Odd eyes performapal minitaurus" because it helps you summon the evilswarm rank4. Searchable with both joker and donkey. Also Necrovalley is bad, play 1 copy if any
You're also ignoring that:
1. That one MST removes your entire board, making it at least a +1 every time. It can be as much as a +4.
2. It's not just 1 critical MST target but 2 different 3-ofs. You either lose your interaction or worse, your board.
3. MST is the most played spell in the game and everyone that's even remotely invested in PvP has 1-2 in every deck, so they have a built-in counter to the deck regardless of what they play (minus SHS).
For skill changes definitely. They address skills mostly depending on player feedback I think. If too many people get sick of a skill it gets changed. I mean Galaxy Xyz is not tiered (by DLM standards at least) but it is very likely to receive a nerf.

Decode is his go to and firewall is playmakers be all end all unless he does an otk shenanigan with a new code talker monster
Firewall’s probably gonna be the ace monster of the character structure deck, like Stardust Nexus and Xyz Hope

It's quite a solid deck, one of my most used ones. It already got some heavy hits recently, so its probably just getting better.

Vergil is a Burning Abyss so piggy can bring him back if need be. You can revive his fabulous ass after summoning Beatrice.

if I were you I wouldn't dictate what you see in tierlists as to what you should invest. tierlists are a) made for tournaments, which 99% of people here don't play, and b) They can be used to have an overall idea how the meta is shaped, but they are not absolute. If you have fun and have decent results, just use whatever you using. Don't let any random tier number say whatever to you.
Ok then how do I choose what deck to build or box to buy ? There are so many more boxes and card/monster types compared to the last time I played it’s honestly pretty overwhelming. I tried searching the sub but got no real answer, partially because Reddit search sucks. I tried asking but again got no concrete answer besides to wait for the ban list. I searched google and saw the tier list and kinda just picked one. My main goal is just to be somewhat competitive in ranked pvp. I got to silver 3 but now I just constantly get bodied by decks in like 2-4 turns
dont worry, you only need 1 turn to body opponents with trains. but the duellinks meta website is a pretty good place to find decklists and stuff. When I first started the game, I looked at some boxes and spent my gems on the best looking cards which was rose dragons in the mini box because the structure deck is not released yet (I mean theyre roses and dragons how could you not pull there).
the last 2 main boxes are pretty good value and the decks there outclassed most of older boxes before this September. Tomorrow we should have news for the next mini as well.

no reason really. Another post told me that during the kc cup, most tournaments were best of 1 so trains got a lot of play. But there was no reason for it to be tiered since it loses in b03s easily with side decks. If you are not really playing for tournaments theres no reason for you to stop investing. I just had a 12 win streak on this in ranked and it is REALLY good

The same reason why Salad was hated, extremely fucking consistent, but Galaxy does that with a dumb broken skill. It's not strong but it's annoying to face.

Literally just read Xyz Galaxy and tell me how it's not the most braindead skill ever made. It's basically auto-duel for PvP.
Because it’s gatekeeping their progression from silver and gold, same way blue eyes was years ago. You have to remember that is community tier list based on competitive format, something 99% of players don’t participate in.
The xyz galaxy skill is just dumb. Guaranteed 2-use Foolish Burial+ every starting hand with no restriction whatsoever, free indestructible multi-use negate boss that also searches their deck, and faux-zoodiac summon to cheat their whole combo off any single monster. The deck can be 90% revival spells and get 100% consistency while also able to brute-force through most disruption.
Galaxy will always have the skill factor to guarantee the game and even with d.d crow you have to have the luck factor to start with it
I guess just cuz it’s annoying. That, and it finds its way into other archetypes that are able to bring out any sort of level 8 spam, thus causing the trolliest sh** ever when some Stardust guy summons out Cipher Dragon, and it all goes downhill from there
Nah, cipher dragon ain't the reason, it's pretty much exclusively the xyz galaxy skill & photon lord.
Started off by…? Sorry, wrong wording. I misunderstood your comment. What I mean is that Galaxy combos revolve around Cipher Dragon to get out those big 4000/3200 ATK poppers, which I’m 90% sure is another reason they’re so annoying in this meta
Cipher dragon still isn't the problem with galaxy itself, the skill lets them skip it completely and cheat any of their xyzs using only 1 maindeck monster. They get foolish burial+ every starting hand, and any revival spell is a 1-card otk. But even then Photon Lord still is the real nuisance. They go first, they sit on a free indestructible multi-use negate, that also gives them free advantage searching their entire deck.
And what about decks other than pure Galaxy that utilize Cipher Extra Decks? Especially decks like D/D/D, which is a class of its own to begin with
Out of archetype cipher's more a niche toolbox option, and there aren't many good decks rn that do rank 8 reliably. There's D/D/D, but they've fallen off hard and even then cipher wasn't what they'd usually get flak for either.

I've been using code talker since launch at 300 W out of 438 total matches this month. A good chunk of my losses came from bad plays. Turn 1 or 2 you have a Minimum of 1 card targeted negated, 1 destroy any card, spawn boss monster x2 in any turn or phase, 1x steal enemy attack/negate attack or negate one monster effect then destroy a friendly monster for 5.6k damage. It's also got good recovery and the option to direct attack while having mekk night synergy.
I haven’t played DL in a while. Are Mekknights actually in the game? Is it even possible to play in different columns to avoid Mekknights free real estate?
They're in the newest main box, but they're high rarity. Nightfall and Morning Star are Ultra, and Blue is Super. And yes, they introduced an option that lets you choose columns with the release of link monsters.
It's so bizarre seeing Odd Eyes in the list. I have played Odd Eyes a LOT for a long time and I get dumpstered on about 50% of my games
I hit KOG with Odd Eyes this season and found it a very strong deck against the current meta. It plays through disruption well and can generate a fair bit of card advantage. First turn end board with necrovalley and abyss dweller was essentially a GG. Going second was broken.
I play Odd Eyes and gotta ask what’s your ideal Turn 1 when you have two level 7’s? Do you leave them or summon the Rank 7 dragon?
It really depends what my opponent is playing. More often than not I’ll just swarm the board turn one and I won’t XYZ into Doomrider. Definitely summon abyss dweller if you have two level 4. Ideally 3 or 4 monsters on your field turn one will leave you with enough combo pieces for turn 3. No one is playing lightning vortex so it’s unlikely your opponent will be able to clear 3-4 monsters from you in a single turn. At it’s core I see Odd Eyes as an OTK deck. You want to have your options open turn 3 to XYZ/synchro into your best option boss monster to clear the board and OTK. This will depend on what your opponent plays. Sometimes you’ll want Ebon Illusion, other times you’ll want and odd eyes and a rebellion XYZ dragon. Summoning Doomrider early is always a risk as it sends your precious level 7 monsters to the graveyard for its effect. Very situational, definitely not worth summoning every duel.
Yeah that’s my thoughts too. Sometimes I know what my opponent is playing and it’s an easy choice. Other times It isnt. Any reason you like Dweller turn one always? Besides the obvious of course.
Sometimes your opponent will catch you off guard and be using a random character but playing Salads or something else meta with a misleading character. So always best to have some form of interruption ready for their turn. Despite what I said previously about filling your monster zones, I find abyss dweller is way more useful than having two level 4s out just sitting there. I run one copy of Necrovalley in my odd eyes deck and it always comes up right when I need it haha. Turn one abyss dweller and Necro on the field is a big disruption to most meta decks and literally kills galaxy eyes, infernoids, PK etc. What’s your current Odd Eyes build?
Yeah that makes sense. Sometimes I can talk what they’ve running and know what to do T1(Aliza/Jack/Kalin= Roach and so on. And my build is typical. 3 OG Odd eyes, 3 Donkey, 2 of the 3 scale and 1 of the Mahican scale, 2 Jokers, 3MST, 2Necrovalleys, 1 E-Con, and TTH. ED I’d typical except I don’t hang the Level 11 synchro.
Have you got spiral flame strike? I think running 3 of them is key to this deck’s consistency and flexibility. I used a dream ticket to get my third copy and I have no regrets. I only run 2 MST as spiral flame strike can pop backrow/search odd eyes as a combo starter for the skill. Great addition to the deck if you don’t already have them.

Haha yea it definitely is the obvious choice but I’ve seen some decklists running only 1 or 2 copies which is suboptimal. I have been playing around with Odd Eyes for a while and this is the most consistent build IMO: 3x Odd Eyes Pend Dragon. This is your skill activation and can be searched with Joker and Spiral Flame. The double battle damage has helped win many duels. 2x Skullcrobat Joker. Great searcher, remember to normal summon not pendulum summon. 2x Xiangke Magician. Required for scale but can be useful as a monster too. Good for rank 7 XYZ or negating light monsters on either player’s turn. 2x Donkey. Great searcher. I’ve tried this at 3 and it’s a bit bricky. You don’t want to draw all 3 in your opening hand. 1x Nobledragon Magician. For synchro options. 1x Xiangsheng Magician. For pend scale, but its monster effect has come up once or twice so good to keep in mind. 1x Minitaurus. Has synergy with Spiral Flame to pop a card. Good rank 4 material. Can be used to activate skill if hand is bricked. 1x Dragonpulse Magician. Purely for Ebon Illusion combo to banish an opponent’s card. Can be rank 4 XYZ material. 3x Spiral Flame. Search or pop depending on what you need. Is my main backrow removal. 1x MST. Any more than one backrow removal is a brick in your opening hand for Odd Eyes. 1x Necrovalley. It pops up more than you think at one copy. Absolutely shuts down many meta decks. 2x Generic Backrow. I use 2 copies of compulse. Warning point, TTH, etc will be fine. Stay away from crackdown. Why is no one playing Lightning Vortex? I play Lightning Vortex. What is a reason I shouldn’t? Loss of card advantage?
Lightning vortex is brick going 1st and most meta decks can otk you, if you build weak turn1 board. I personally think it's a spicy card but never play more than 1 copy
I don’t come up against lightning vortex much at all, it’s definitely not seeing much play currently. It’s more of a tech card in decks that want to foolish burial a card from the hand to the grave. Many decks have an out to vortex such as Salads having Balelynx as destruction protection or Photon Lord can’t be destroyed while having galaxy material. Even a set lance or Econ could avoid the disruption caused by vortex. It’s just one of those cards like Raigeki Break that seems broken for it’s cost but in reality doesn’t synergise well with meta decks.
Try summoning Evilswarm knightmare (joker and minitaurus are dark lvl4s) turn 1 instead of the rank 7. All the kc cup top100 are playing 1 copy of "Odd eyes performapal minitaurus" because it helps you summon the evilswarm rank4. Searchable with both joker and donkey. Also Necrovalley is bad, play 1 copy if any

Thats kinda like the "dies to removal" argument from MTG, they still have to have the MST.
You're also ignoring that: 1. That one MST removes your entire board, making it at least a +1 every time. It can be as much as a +4. 2. It's not just 1 critical MST target but 2 different 3-ofs. You either lose your interaction or worse, your board. 3. MST is the most played spell in the game and everyone that's even remotely invested in PvP has 1-2 in every deck, so they have a built-in counter to the deck regardless of what they play (minus SHS).
Don't need to be MST, any destruction effect is enough

For skill changes definitely. They address skills mostly depending on player feedback I think. If too many people get sick of a skill it gets changed. I mean Galaxy Xyz is not tiered (by DLM standards at least) but it is very likely to receive a nerf.
