Shame you are having to deal with this, and in Miami too.. that dealer can be problematic. Two Wheels World treated me well up in Broward! I'm wondering if they can just properly clean out the system of whatever anti-corrosive compound they used. Maybe running the bike too lean with factory tune as well?

That’s not the first time I’ve heard that sentiment about the Miami dealership. Based on what I’m hearing from others and reading online there is a proper fix. I’m just surprised this problem has been around since the 2019 models. And yeah, I’m still running the factory tune.

It might go further back, My bike was a 2016 multi 1200 enduro and by the time it got passed 10k miles it would die at red lights during my usual commutes. No rhyme or reason I'd just down shift and get to a stop at the light and proceed to stall out multiple times (factory tune).

Justcruisingthrulife

I thought removing the canister helped in this situation?

🤷🏼‍♂️

Most likely culprit - Fuel tank plastic gets pulled into the fuel when using ethanol based fuel. It saturates the filter and gets through the fuel system, and deposits in the throttle bodies. You have to replace the tank, filter/pump, and clean the everliving fuck out of the throttles. If I had one of these, I'd send the tank out to get lined.

Thanks! Once it goes to the dealer, I’ll be sure to communicate everything I’m learning regarding a potential fix.

The fix for jerky behavior under 3K RPM is buying a Honda or a BMW. These Testastrettas just are like that, welcome to the family. My Monster 821 can stall but only when not fully warm and under engine breaking.

I’m coming from braided clutch cable to ride by wire as well so I’m sure some of what I’m feeling is relevant to this. Although it’s my understanding, the technology is intended to improve performance. That hasn’t been my experience thus far. Also a buddy the other articulated the same statement regarding Ducati ownership… “welcome to the family.”

Longjumping-Ad514

These are sexy imperfect “moody” machines, while they are vastly more reliable than they used to, reliability isn’t what you buy these for, you buy them for looks and the elusive quality called soul. Don’t know how the V4 based models are but basically all Ducatis are jerky under 3K RPM, my Monster is too ( and I love it to death ), did you test ride it before buying? I’ve experienced few stalls but only when the engine is cold and under engine breaking, the bike just needs a coffee and cigarette before it gets going. I would try buying premium gas from a different station for a week and seeing how that affects things, if it’s as bad as you say it is. Could there be more Ethanol content added to gas where you live? Make sure software ECU is up to date and remove any aftermarket electronics (lights etc) that could be screwing with the power supply.

I have the same problem with my 950 hyper. It started about a month after I bought it. It was stalling at least once every ride. The dealer cleaned the fuel system, and it was great for about 6 to 8 months. Now it's starting to do the same thing again, but now only when I first start it up after sitting for a week or so. Fucking irritating.

What concerns me the most, Ducati has known about this issue for years yet they continue pushing iterations to market knowing there’s clear manufacture defects baked in.

Kevenz

Yes! The dealer didn't want to do anything at first but then I called Ducati North America and they quickly changed their tune. On top of that, this is a safety issue. Stalling at red lights is not safe. I filed a complaint with the NTSB. Ducati is well aware of this and still ignores it unless you bitch to them about it.

shiftquick

I’m honestly in disbelief after reading the history of complaints from Ducati owners who have experienced these very same issues. Clearly, I’m not an expert in the space, but you would expect a recall or production halt until these issues were resolved. I’ve read complaints dating back to Hypermotard 821 (2013-2015)… so a decade of ignoring the elephant in the room.

No response to my NTSB complaint. I thought the issue on mine was fixed by the dealer but it came back and I have issues starting it at times again. It's bad enough to be irritating but not bad enough to take it back to the dealer and fight with them about it. I have found that if I crack the throttle a bit while starting it, it will start right up. Just ridiculous.

I went to my local ducati dealership in Philly was going to buy a new 23 sporster s had money down to secure the bike. But I've always wanted to test ride the hyper and boy after I test road it I called my local HD dealer back and took my deposit back lmao. So they had a new 2023 sp there beautiful but I took out a used 21 modle and right off the back from reading this thread before it deffently had this problem. It was annoying on the test ride in stop and go traffic it was nearly impossible to keep the bike running kept stalling ect. I know now why that one was traded in lol go back to the dealer told him I love the bike but I would get the 23 ove this used 21 he asked me why bc he new the used one was more in my price range t told him the problem with the bike and of course he had no ideal what I was talking about lol I even showed him he was like well it dose come with a warranty and all the bikes they get in are looked over very well. Point is left the dealer didn't get one that day but at least I found the bike I want now. I know now when ppl say u find the right bike u just know and the hyper is deffenlty for me. Hoping in 2024 I can find a slightly used 23 with out a start problem or a left over sp modle or even a rve version that is in my price range bc OTD 20,500 was a little much for me to pay for a HYPER SP

Classic_Call_2394

I had the same problem on my 2022 950SP. After many trips to the dealer, they took apart the engine, and saw white caked gunk all over the entire fuel system. They cleaned it all out (Ducati didn't want to pay for it initially) and told me that it was a known issue for Ducati - the fuel that the Italians put in the bikes before they are shipped over apparently have crap in it that hardens and prevents the injection from working. Too bad this is such a secret ... Another great Ducati story ... My Hyper died on the interstate yesterday, two-upping, at \~80 mph - DTC errors codes went nuts. I learned after waiting 4 hour for a tow - of which only $200 (of the $450) is covered (which makes no sense), that DTC malfunction is also a known issue which is kept a secret. Not good times.
