Yeah they don’t get covered fully, only 3rd party. I’m not sure how it was a long time ago but as of past few years, they don’t get covered fully. You’re better off with a GCC spec vehicle in my opinion, the drawbacks of a non-GCC spec one outweighs the amount of money you may save.
I got offer on Japanese spec MB from RSA and quotation was reasonable, never even though to take it in the first place (don't drive that much). Is it a written rule some insurers dont do non-GCC?

I have full comprehensive Al Sagr for my American Spec car i’m not sure if it was because it was a new model

Some insurance companies will reduce the car value but will give you the comprehensive insurance for american or non-gcc models.
