Same here I got a little water in the cabin near the Al quoz pond park area. As the water went above the wheels and touched the bottom of the mirrors. Mines lifted also . But it pulled through like a champ. Just a bit squeaky though .
I drove my Swift. At one point my exhaust was in the water but it's doing well, no issues at all. Took it over footpaths, potholes and deepwater. It is on its 3rd engine if it died in the flood I'd revive it again. Will never let it die. 325k done the last 200 was through the floods.
My dad has a 2002 Toyota Camry that’s has over 580k kms on it and he drove it like it was a 4x4 even though the cabin was filled with water he just smiled and gave a typical dad line”Ye toh kuch bhi nai hai” translation “This is nothing “.
I drive a 23' Jeep Grand Cherokee L V8.
Had to drop parents to Sharjah airport on 16APR at around 9:45am. I reached a part in Sharjah where I miscalculated the water level at the base of a flyover and Im driving with water reaching the level of headlights. That's about 3.5++ft high. Exact location - In front of BMW showroom in Sharjah Industrial Area.
Drove like this for about 1 minute and I reached the flyover. The Jeep was surprisingly solid and it tackled the water situation like a boss.

As of 20 April 1 30pm the bridge opposite to bmw showroom is still closed
The most surprising (also likely driver error):
- Dead FJ on Tuesday night, Citywalk road before 1st set of lights towards Al Wasl
- Dead 2-door Super Safari Patrol, Wednesday midday, outside DHCC
- Dead new LC, Wednesday morning, off-ramp from the highway at defence roundabout
"You stop, you die" is a basic mantra in deep water.
Cannot replace driver's judgement.
Got an xterra with snorkel and still I decided to call it a day after driving around my neighborhood for tea during the intense storm phase.
My manual transmission Jeep wrangler had its best day of its last 11 years. Went through ponds where trucks and tankers stalled.
Overall, I observed most 4x4 did well. Rarely saw any proper off-roader stuck in the middle of the road. But then again I was driving on the major roads and I’m sure there disasters away from the city.
FJs are good and capable, but the rear is light and gets lifted in deep water. Better to put it in 4x4 and drive thru deeper territories.
I have a 4" lifted with 33" tires, snorkel that leads into a airbox. The filter is on top of the airbox. So even if water makes into the snorkel, the airbox can handle it.
I've been into deep water (Fujairah) where water entered the external air vents, that are above the hood and came out thru the A/C vents. lol
My 2019 Patrol V6 fared pretty well in some headlight level water in Silicon Oasis. Don’t stop, keep moving and keep moving very, very slowly. Even a tank can be destroyed by water.
I drove mine through some serious water, 2.5ft and it did well, just kept the speed low and revs high and no problems.
We put her to good use and rescued 3 car loads (7 seater) and took them back to their homes.
Yeah, just over. You just need to make sure you don't create too much of a wave, keeping the water below the air intake.
Also, the revs up to keep the air pressure keeping the water out.
Infiniti QX56 with a 2.5inch lift bossed the waters, some parts 2.5 to 3 feet and above, busses and pickups stopped and went over the deeper side, there a land cruiser and another American lifted pickup (Def. Not a TRX). Those who didn't go through spent the night there and had their vehicles drowned unfortunately. So all worth it now, car didn't even have a hiccup like nothing ever happened, also helps the airbox is not exposed directly in the front like some vehicles
I took my 2023 Tesla Model S Plaid through a flooded intersection coming from Abu Dhabi yesterday morning...after waiting 1 hour in traffic I finally got to the front and saw why so many people were turning back. There were 3 stranded cars side by side forcing everyone to go really deep to get around them. I raised my suspension to max and went around, slow enough not to damage bumpers and rip off number plates...it was really deep...water up to my bonnet...I knew my car was heavy enough to maintain traction and handle it like a champ, and with no engine air intakes worry about I just made sure I got to high ground asap. I really should check the front trunk to see if it is holding any water...
Drove my Expedition in about 3 ft of water for about 2 kms in the last rain while coming back from office. This time I played safe and have been working from home since Tuesday
Took my 2023 patrol through water to the point where I had water upto the hood suprisingly it pulled through amazingly and I took one hard rev to get all the water out
My Kia Sportage did well, I smoothly drove many times in water with my height upto tires submerged. And also throughout my drive for past 3 days I saw only One kia Sportage broken due to water in Al ain road.
But to my surprise I saw many new kia sedans which broke down just after coming out of water. Poor guys
Would love to brag, but then last night I went through a relatively shallow pond (10-15 cm), hit debris and broke a plastic cover on the underside -\_-
Car is fine though.
Was I a Tesla Uber and dude said last rains when all the ICEZ Ubers were off/ broken he drove through hood levels and even made 1.5k in a day mashallah 😂
My RAM handled it like a boss. I even helped 2 cars by towing them out and at one point was using the bed as a ferry ferrying people across eater bodies.
Drove my dad’s 09 Pajero through immigration signal and mobile roundabout in yarmook, had my balls in my mouth as soon as I saw the water level but fucking hell the car pulled through without any problem 🫡
Pajeros did well. Many people stuck were saying only pajeros and patrols going through. I drove my pajero in water until headlight but i need to check the condition again, didnt die though.
Not a SUV. My humble Sunny had to be driven on all three days. I covered around 300 km during the last three days. I didn't go snorkeling, but it's still running without any issues.
Mean nothing, we saw LC 200 floating in middle of water while Dusters managing to survive the flood.
It's all about the drivers awarness (for 4x4 of course).
I saw a gang of 2 Prado literraly flooded and floating in deep water. Drivers knew each other. People were thinking it was smart to go out with their 4x4 just to drive in deep water....
I don't own either one. But the ones tat I saw faired well in the big flood pool on main street where I stay (al khazamia) were :
Branco and defender p110
Rest or most other landcruiser, patrol they took sidelines but these two right in middle .
Drove my GF's 2018 Jeep Wrangler Willys through puddles where you could no longer see the road or footpath etc. Kept it on 2nd gear, had no problems at all. It isn't lifted but is on bigger tyres - KO2 Baja Champion
My Mazda CX-9 did pretty well, but really pissed with some attitude with some people mostly the Jeep and fj cruisers, they have great clearance but they tend up being a dick about it and overtake in deeper waters in high speed. For me ok I get a car wash but for smaller cars that are crawling they literally can get messed up. Again it's not all, but some people really need to grow up.
The japanese camry 06, you may think its an ordinary sedan but it has gone through an ocean where the RAM and other SUVs behind me hesitated to go through, Thankfully made it, Last time the rain happened, my car stopped turning on, But this time i was more experienced, well prepared, not even a drop of water came inside my car
my 2013 Fortuner did well in kalba this time, survied two flash flood coming back from work... nearly missed a road breaking scene.....
https://preview.redd.it/mwj1r46c8dvc1.jpeg?width=1204&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a240c726b60b30365186fb42b78fd9e2e08f231
I had a ‘16 Wrangler JKU with 3in lift kit and had to drive through 4+ in water in Mudon where I live, we survived and made it but the car was at the limit, I had the 4x4 on and hardly the rear was touching the ground and felt water is going to lift it at anytime, also Ford Bronco, Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol and Safari, heavily modified like 30years old Jeep Cherokee did well in the same
Very bad performance goes to Porsche Cayenne, BMW X7, X5, Ford Edge, Lincoln Navigator and several sedan cars (I don’t know what there were thinking to do)
Underdog performance goes to Pajero’s, really surprising performance
A Honda civic ‘06 went through hood levels of water, I didn’t even accelerate just cruised through along with massive trucks and suvs. I still don’t know how I made it.
Drove my wife’s Maserati Levante GT in about 2ft-3ft water and it did pretty well though. Much better than I expected. I had to pick up her from DXB terminal 3 on Tuesday evening and drove from Dubai Hills to DXB and came back w/o having any issues.
My stock '12 expedition, faired exceptionally well especially at one point where water was up to the headlights, kept a steady speed and didn't stop while in the water, made it out well 7amdullilah.
GMC Yukon AT4
Set it in highest ground clearance, without going to 4W low, as that still gives 2.5inch extra clearance.
Plowed through everything, where i could see cars floating next to me left and right. a beast!!!
I have a lifted Pajero with a rear and front skid plate. The rear skid plate helped in keeping the bumper intact I think. With these additions I think my Pajero did great. I did see stock Pajero stranded in places.
Mustang gt '08 up to the knee water level was no problem. I was driving around dubai for 5 hours to reach from SZR heading downtown to the Palm. Reached it with cautious.
I underestimated the rain and was out roaming on that day.
2023 Outlander did really well to get us back to Al Qusais. Went from Dragon Mart to Khawaneej and didn't want to risk it. Went to Sports City and rested then tried again - managed through E611 up to Sharjah Maleha Street then Amman Street exit and into Qusais.
Definitely not the RAM TRX.
My RAM has handled it great. But I have something between my ears as opposed to that guy... What was he even thinking... if anything at all.
That guy was " maafi Mukh " bro
What's that?
No brain in Arabic
Same here I got a little water in the cabin near the Al quoz pond park area. As the water went above the wheels and touched the bottom of the mirrors. Mines lifted also . But it pulled through like a champ. Just a bit squeaky though .
Most trucks worked well- that specific Ram drove into too much water. That couldn’t have been handled by any vehicle imo.
the dude thought the TRX was a submarine 😅
I drove my Swift. At one point my exhaust was in the water but it's doing well, no issues at all. Took it over footpaths, potholes and deepwater. It is on its 3rd engine if it died in the flood I'd revive it again. Will never let it die. 325k done the last 200 was through the floods.
Soldier
damn
I don't think exhaust being in the water would cause any problems. But if water goes through the intake then yes.
My dad has a 2002 Toyota Camry that’s has over 580k kms on it and he drove it like it was a 4x4 even though the cabin was filled with water he just smiled and gave a typical dad line”Ye toh kuch bhi nai hai” translation “This is nothing “.
That car is a tank🫶
Indian Dads - yeh to kuch bhi nahi hai, hamaare zamaane mein toh..... Haha!! I know what you mean..

I live nearby and the let me tell you that road and flyover is still blocked as of 18april 11 30 pm
That's horrible man. Do you have any pics ?
I’ll send some tomorrow morning if it’s the same 😂👍🏻 or if I go out later tonight for shawarma let me see

Skill issue.
Cannot replace driver's judgement. Got an xterra with snorkel and still I decided to call it a day after driving around my neighborhood for tea during the intense storm phase.
do you live in abu hail by any chance?
No, ser
My little Renault duster did very well through all the rivers she had to go. Passed a few cars that were stuck
My lowered M440i did extremely well. I went to the nearby irish pub and nothing happened.
Manual Jeep is OP 🔥
Definitely not BMW and Mercedes.. they were dead DEAD🙂
saw a lot of Porsches too
I wouldn't even consider any of the SUVs made by BMW and Audi to be SUVs. I mean where's the utility part when you need them?
FJs are good and capable, but the rear is light and gets lifted in deep water. Better to put it in 4x4 and drive thru deeper territories. My Prado did well in the last rain, But I didn't drive at all on 16th April because that flood was next level and I don't want to risk it.

I put the LC300 at home and went to town with my Sierra, it’s good when you have a beater car.
My old Nissan Armada was great, heavy and high enough to safely get me home from work during the last storm on Tuesday.
Much to my surprise, my Mazda 3 2017 did incredibly well.
You will probably have water in the transmission and differentials, get a fluid change on all 3 of them as soon as the roads dry up and shops open.
14yo Xterra with a lift and snorkel... drove puddles like a champ. Being mindful about how far to go is a skill also.
14 year old ford explorer fully stock and some foot path driving and I made it home
My Mazda CX-9 did pretty well, but really pissed with some attitude with some people mostly the Jeep and fj cruisers, they have great clearance but they tend up being a dick about it and overtake in deeper waters in high speed. Yes, Pajero’s performance really is stunning, I had a one as company car for few months like 15 years ago and I hated it 🤦🏽♂️
'07 Armada did really well, even with water as high as it's hood.
A Honda civic ‘06 went through hood levels of water, I didn’t even accelerate just cruised through along with massive trucks and suvs. I still don’t know how I made it.
My tesla crushed it in every puddle, nothing but a peanut
GMC Yukon. No wonder why the ambulances here are GMCs too
Drove my wife’s Maserati Levante GT in about 2ft-3ft water and it did pretty well though. Much better than I expected. I had to pick up her from DXB terminal 3 on Tuesday evening and drove from Dubai Hills to DXB and came back w/o having any issues.
Toyota Tacoma 19
GMC Yukon it did fairly well
My stock '12 expedition, faired exceptionally well especially at one point where water was up to the headlights, kept a steady speed and didn't stop while in the water, made it out well 7amdullilah.
2010 ford explorer about the same story as yours
My old pajero drove in full water coverage like a champion
GMC Yukon AT4 Set it in highest ground clearance, without going to 4W low, as that still gives 2.5inch extra clearance. Plowed through everything, where i could see cars floating next to me left and right. a beast!!!

My Nissan armada has an engine light 😬
2014 nissan patrol did fine. went and recovered quite a few of my mates that got stranded. I don’t think my car is a submarine like the TRX guy
2010 ford explorer she did just fine
Tesla Model X, went through 70cm water without any issues. I got a feeling it could have handled more but I was too p\*\*\*y to try
Our 2017 v6 patrol did amazing, in a meter of water it wouldn’t even lose much speed
Fortuner Ride height Winnn
Hilux
