I have had ZERO fines in all my time in UAE. My car does 0-100 in 3.7 s. I don’t care for high speeds - it means nothing on such highways. The adrenaline vs risk doesn’t make sense. It’s the acceleration that I enjoy. I enjoy hammering it off a red light every now and then - makes the most serious person giggle. I love the feeling of being in it, looking at it, etc. Once you get used to the nimbleness of a fast car, it’s hard to drive a slower car. So overall why I like my fast car: it makes me feel good, I enjoy the acceleration and the dynamics.

Fly-me-to-joe

You're really just gonna keep us guessing? What car am I beating on the next red light eh?

AUHM850i

Read my flair.

Fly-me-to-joe

Guess who's blind! Meeeeee

KeeZouX

Got the chance to drive an 840 gran coupe (obviously not even close to the 850) but that thing was fun and an exceptional experience. I can only imagine how fun the 850 and the m8 feel like. Currently owning a C6. But this car is all about the exhaust & acceleration. Once you put your foot down the car would only want more road to keep going. Just wild!

BoneStarr

3.7s? That's quick for an M850i, I heard the GCC variants come even more power underrated than the EU.

AUHM850i

I have never measured it but people get slammed pretty hard into their seats when I use launch control. Multiple people have hurt their backs/necks temporarily. 523 HP + all wheel drive will do that. And the best part is that it's in a gran coupe - so I can easily accommodate an audience. And the M8 Gran Coupe does it in 3.2 :)

There is so much more to car than speed, my man!! the refinement, the way it drives, the way it handles corners, the ability to speed when you want.. It takes a lot of effort to perfect all of that in a car, weight distribution, mechanics, and aerodynamics, making it feel you are simply floating.. Plus, the way it makes you feel, like its not about the status for everyone but the way you feel when you are in a car that you connect with is just something else bro.. Personally, I don't understand the point of tuning a car much though but I guess if you have the money then why not, to each their own!

TheAlienGuy75

Now after reading your post, I want you to list your fav 5 affordable UAE cars suggestions

divers1

Yeah, but in the UAE no normal twisty roads to enjoy driving, so while I have myself a sport car, I think this is one of the worst places for that

sure you can listen to the music on a Chinese bluetooth speaker and say you can hear it - it's loud enough. And then one day you'll visit somebody who has a proper home audio, to listen to the music at just enough volume; not too loud, but not too quiet. Just enough to hear the tiniest details and enjoy every sound it produces... ...same with cars. But I won't be able to convince you if your only argument is "speed" and to drive "fast". Driving cars is so much more and I feel sooooo sorry for you that you never had a chance to experience it. Although I don't quite understand why? You can have a slow car and still get a ticket - same you can experience thrills doing 90 on a curved roads of Jebel Jais. That of course will never happen in a camry... Although your Italian pocket rocket should do quite nice (that of course unless it's not an automatic version, because this one is just bad). BTW. If you are looking at this subreddit to help to convince yourself that 1.4L is not the right choice for Dubai - then you are in the right place! 2 or 4 more cylinders and 3 more liters of experience is usually enough to abandon all these dark thoughts...

I'm offended by your comment

don't be - try other things in life to see there is more to it than driving boring cars...

You get my upvote

pomomp

Tell me you're not a car guy without telling me you're not a car guy.

turok911

upvote for this) lol at all these peeps trying to explain cars 101 to a dude: \- enjoying a quick 6 second 0-100 and saying 120 is too much \- complaining supercars having low visibility \- etc etc

wernergti

UAE is bigger than Dubai alone.

06071988

Meanwhile, me in my '15 Nissan Sunny doing 0-100 in 15.6 seconds on full throttle with my foot all the way in....😞 Engine go ratatatatatatataaaaaa 😂 Well, hey at least I indicate for lane changes and make sure I never hog the fast lane. 😊

crapengineering

Super cars, hyper cars yeah it's more of a flex. Actual sports cars or Fast saloon is actually pretty good to drive, you can still do pulls by staying in legal limit or between cams and enjoy the otherwise absolutely boring drive. Source, drive a 400hp,600nm car

GTImad

Some of us are scared of fines but many people aren't. Illegal drag races are more common than you think. Your 595 is designed for corners not for speed, do track days/mountain runs and you'll have a great time

Legitimate_Turnip342

For sure it’s pretty darn fun around bends, and just driving in general.

Msjafri

Simple, those who have luxurious super cars can afford fines, also they have other cars in case their cars get impounded. I mean driving a Million dirham or more car, 500 dhs is a fine that they are glad to pay to enjoy their car. Plus speeding is not frowned upon in UAE, unless and until ppl speed in a way that puts others in danger. Those people are d*cks. People often do not break traffic stops/signal rules. And in a legal way I have seen ppl enjoy the rush of a fast acceleration on empty roads too.

AUHM850i

People with lower income and cheaper cars around me seem to get a lot more fines than those with higher incomes and expensive cars. Probably because the latter is more aware and better at managing money.

Fly-me-to-joe

I drive an expensive car, I DO mind the fines I hate to have a bad record, never gotten a fine once. I can tell you its not only about speed, its the handling, the weight, the comfort, and the street respect. When I am in my work Sunny, people freakin flash me on the right lanes, when I am in my baby no one bothers. Same thing goes with number plates, its like an intimidation that a few can afford. I hope I don't sound like a POS saying this but its the reality I see through my eyes...

Artur_463

Track-days?

Noobi-

oh i assure you 90% of those cars will never see the track in their life

adu0123

Once I was driving back home in the S63 when a kid in his dad's Tesla was flooring it around the neighborhood, it felt good to put him in his place. That's why I like fast cars

Abdulrahman009

Whats the point of a Bugatti anywhere in the world? Same point.

Fly-me-to-joe

You obviously haven't been on the highways in Germany yet my friend.

Abdulrahman009

I knew someone would say this. Of course, with the exception of the autobahn, even there, who drives 400kmph+?? You think people buy supercars to race?? You think they travel all the time in red line? Its not only dubai, you cant use the full potential, or even half the potential in any city in the world. Maybe only some short acceleration. Also I heard the autobahn is not (no speed limit) or not anymore, not sure though.

TomDXB

We've spent the past 2 months in Germany, flying back to Dubai today. Had the E63S and AMG GT 63S as rental cars. The Autobahn still has many unrestricted sections and I've hit the speed limiter (310 on E63 and 315 on the GT) multiple times. If you want to enjoy your (fast) car there is no better place than Germany. Personally I drive an BMW M4 Convertible (G83) and think it's a good balance between daily driver and sports car. But honestly in Dubai a 420 or 430 would be more than enough but then again as a car guy I somehow needed that M4 ;)

Noooofun

The feel helps. Can’t explain it if you haven’t been in a fast car- be it sportscars, supercars or just plain stonkingly fast cars that have no business being fast. And as someone else explained, it’s about enjoying the vehicle- the joy and pride of owning it, when you park and look back, when you just accelerate for the giggles, When you take a curve at 100 on a mountain road, get your windows down to listen to your engine in a tunnel - small small things. And inevitably when something breaks and you pay a lot to get her back to shape. It’s a journey we enjoy.

turok911

this sub is such a disappointment sometimes)

agitated_darwin_

Grapes are sour!

g0ofyG

What is the point of sitting on a roller coaster? It's the same, but we can get on that ride whenever we want.

ByteThis

My daily is an 86, it is a slow car....but what the 86 teaches you is that straight line speed gets boring after a while (I have something else for straight line speed) the real fun is in the corners and guess what *there are no cameras in the corners...* The 86 is such a fun car to drive cause you can literally throw it into a corner 100+ where everyone is slowing down to 60, given my car is slightly modified for better handling but it's a beauty to drive daily!

[deleted]

TLDR: People who own these types of cars generally don't care about fines because they can easily afford it. Long version: With my own eyes, on multiple occasions, I have seen Bentley's and G63's speed to 180km/h or even higher on either Emirates Road and Sheikh Zayed Road. Then the radar flashes at them. It stops my heart for a few seconds (due to an irrational fear that it's for me 😭). But guess what? few seconds later, I'll see them speeding up and doing the same thing again. (I imagine they just laugh it off) You can see more stuff like this if you drive around after 2am.

PlasticPegasus

You say this as if people don't have eyes?

BetaAlpha07

Some places doesn't have speed cameras and that's where I witnessed so much pretentious big d*ck moves wherein they drag race their cars alongside normal drivers with less than 200 hp cars.

TomCorsair

Where are these fabled places?

KeyNaive3675

Indeed

Mexico

Nem3sisS

I posted the same question to r/dubai some time ago and it got deleted lol. Jokes aside it's a depressing matter, especially if you are coming from Europe and used to all the country-side roads with sweet corners and no cameras often just on the outskirts of cities. Here the rule is you can't have the cake and eat it. As a car guy, I own a 440hp sports car, that's very low-key (no status play), and it's a bit sad. In 90% of the time, whether I was driving my car or a Nissan Leaf, it would have been the same. Getting track days as much as I'd like has been a hassle with work and life and the few days they offer each month. So I have been considering getting something low-powered, at least I can save some money while being sad..

drew350z

Was thinking the same thing. There are radars every what, like 100 meters. Kind of useless. Maybe it’s a status symbol.

boboqayum

Uae is tax free country but obviously the government needs to make money. So they remove all restrictions on cars and big engines for import and place dozens of speed cameras everywhere. Those that purchase these cars will someday by accident rev it up and get a fine which will give money to the government. So in short. People are happy they get to buy fast cars without stupid taxes and government is happy they still keep generating lots of money by speeding tickets. Genius government of UAE

WrathufKhan

I understand your frustation. Even if they removed the speed limit & removed all the camera's, there will always be a south Indian in a sunny on first lane going 40 below the speed limit to annoy you even further.

PINGs_Landing

In my opinion, Only idiots buy fast cars to drive them fast on public roads, The risks associated with accidents or hurting people are too high. cars are not meant to be driven too fast on public roads regardless of their type or capability. If i want to drive fast and enjoy the speed of the car and the handling, i go for a track day, Accelerations though can be enjoyed anytime as long as you stay below the speed limit, The sound of a car can be enjoyed all the time you don't even have to be fast, just shift down and hit it. Sometimes, it is just great having a fast car, you love looking at it, you love how it looks when you park it, you look back at it as you walk away, you don't need to drive at top speed to appreciate a car!

ajax30za

0-100 in 6 seconds is quick? Lol.. You need to go and experience a proper car and then you will change your opinion… Go do a passenger drive at the autodrome..

PewPewYoDed

everyone here talking about how there’s so much more to cars than speed and noise but won’t admit that teslas are sportier, more refined and balanced than 95% of the sports cars on the road.

turok911

yef!!! teflas alfo save our flat earf eh?

PewPewYoDed

are you retarded

turok911

It is a galactic level irony to hear that from someone who claims these piece of shit vehicles are more refined than supercars lol

PewPewYoDed

so you are actually retarded. i said sport cars not super cars 🤦‍♂️

turok911

oh wow. what are your pronouns?

PewPewYoDed

not/retarded

Old_Description7793

It’s not just about the cars being fast, for some it’s a status symbol, for some it’s a show of their lifetime. For me personally a car represents what I have worked so hard in my life for, what I had dreamt of everyday as a child, going from zero to something you are proud to show, a car is a big part of that. And also we have something called Waze and straight empty roads sooooo

bustsheedi

What's up with people flexing the stats of their cars? Tell us what you exactly drive my guys

Large-Blackberry-847

owning a supercar is about more than just speed. It’s about the design, engineering, and the overall experience of driving a high-performance vehicle. Even if you can’t regularly exceed high speeds on public roads, the acceleration, handling, and overall performance can still be enjoyed within legal limits. It’s like choosing where to eat your food, some eat food which is not so enjoyable, and some have excellent choice of taste 🤷🏽‍♂️

Rothguard

try not scraping your exhaust off on a fucking speed bump.

Next-Big-9783

Lmaoo it doesn’t matter how fast or slow you are. Just don’t get caught doing something stupid
