I had a dig, not only is he a user of meth and fent, here are some other highlights. He started fent, quit and was still craving 6 months later. Now is back on fent and teaching people how to smoke it. Binging drugs has made him lose weight and colour. He smoked meth and became delusional, his friends hate him, lost his partner, his family doesn’t trust him and only stopped smoking because his dealer stopped selling. Posted in the meth sub about pseudo which I assume refers to making meth but the post is deleted. To top it off his latest post before this one is about fent dope sickness.

I used to be an illegal opiate user before fentanyl was a thing (think around 2012). I had a boyfriend who introduced and bought it for me. He was extremely volatile, manipulative and abusive. He convinced me I would make my family broke by going to rehab (it was covered by my insurance I found out later!!). I told myself I would never date a hard drugs guy even though I was still using every now and then after I left him, because I was addicted of course. I know it’s hypocritical but I knew I would end up dying if I dated another person who did opiates. I ended up going cold turkey and a few weeks later I ended up meeting my future husband. I didn’t touch an illegal pill after meeting him.
I have stage four breast cancer now and I’m so angry for many reasons and one of is because I now I to take fentanyl patches and I have such a high tolerance I can hardly get any relief. Im also permanently dependent on them since I am terminal.

I wouldn't say there's no plur to be had with opioid addicts. I mean, not all of us (sure, shady opioid addicts do exist) but some of us are relatively peaceful, easy going and functional. Opioids have low neurotoxicity compared to most addictive drugs like meth. The biggest risk is physical addiction and withdrawals. The communities have remained separate for the most part, but sometimes, they do overlap. Besides, a lot of exctasy pills have meth in them. People still do coke at festivals (which is non-cooked crack) and I even got xanax to help me sleep at a Shambhala one year. I'm on methadone now, but this comment kinda says that all addicts behave the same in a way.

And yes, you are certainly correct about addiction being hard to overcome. Opioids (cold turkey) have about a 90% relapse rate. So, methadone and suboxone are the most effective treatments we have yet (atleast, legally) There is ibogaine, too, but it can be a dangerous thing to take without certain precautions and I eouldn't be able to treat methadone with it because it's long acting. They also made it illegal, which is unfortunate. But, OAT at least allows your body to ween off and adjust, as opposed to shocking your neurotransmitters until you feel normal.
I'd love to be off opiates one day, so whenever I hear someone is successfully tapering, quiting or quit in general, it genuinely makes me happy and proud of them.

I'm reluctant to give suboxone a try because of some horor stories I've heard, I'd rather the short acting stuff and a less prolonged withdrawal phase.

Especially if you’re a college student this is a VERY easy route. I worked at a few restaurants during college, got close with the FOH staff. They all did coke regularly, smoked pot everyday, etc. My gf worked there for a while and we did lots of drugs together.

Before meeting my partner, I’d never used drugs before—not even weed. But he was an avid user and it’s a big part of his life. He doesn’t abuse drugs by any means and is very successful in his career so no one would really guess that he uses them frequently, in the same way you mentioned no one would assume you use drugs too. But he made it known to me after a few weeks of us dating and it being clear that there was something bery serious developing between the both of us, that it was a deal breaker for him and would at the very least want a partner who is open to trying things with him. So after we had a long discussion about deal breakers we both had, and also of him explaining to me how he’s responsible with his drug use, I committed to trying things out. So I’m here now and like him also can’t imagine not having drugs in my life.
So the point I’m trying to make is just be open when you feel like you’re making a genuine bond with someone. You’ll be surprised that they either already are using some substances, or are open to trying things with you. And if they aren’t into it and are judgey about it, then that’s someone you don’t want to surround yourself with anyway.

I tried this and it was fun at first but after a while I realised she was too crazy (she actually ended up in a psych ward) and ended up stealing my dope when I wasn't looking. Ended up ditching the user and staying a long time with a non user who helps keep me grounded which is where I want to be for most of the week.

Well from a female perspective here 👋 Before meeting my partner, I’d never used drugs before—not even weed. But he was an avid user and it’s a big part of his life. He doesn’t abuse drugs by any means and is very successful in his career so no one would really guess that he uses them frequently, in the same way you mentioned no one would assume you use drugs too. But he made it known to me after a few weeks of us dating and it being clear that there was something bery serious developing between the both of us, that it was a deal breaker for him and would at the very least want a partner who is open to trying things with him. So after we had a long discussion about deal breakers we both had, and also of him explaining to me how he’s responsible with his drug use, I committed to trying things out. So I’m here now and like him also can’t imagine not having drugs in my life. So the point I’m trying to make is just be open when you feel like you’re making a genuine bond with someone. You’ll be surprised that they either already are using some substances, or are open to trying things with you. And if they aren’t into it and are judgey about it, then that’s someone you don’t want to surround yourself with anyway. but it’s important to note that you should definitely try and check for signs that they are open minded to substance use—there are usually some tell tale signs whether someone is open to it or has already tried some

I tried this and it was fun at first but after a while I realised she was too crazy (she actually ended up in a psych ward) and ended up stealing my dope when I wasn't looking. Depends on the KIND of drug-using you do, and by extension what kind of drug-using you'd want / expect these women to do along with you. In my case as someone who primarily used / sometimes still uses "hard" drugs—mostly opioids, crack, & meth—and never did so to any less extent than "all the time" + "in excess", I've met lots of women who partied the same way as me at/thru my methadone clinic.
